Have had a Touran 2.0 TDI for 5 years, 45k miles. Car is super reliable, very practical and has handled whatever we have thrown at it splendidly. Handles and drives like a hatchback, enough power to handle daily commutes plus occasional trips. Seats are comfy, kids love their “tablet-trays” and the 3rd row seats are suitable for adults as well. We bought this car when my twins were newborns and have had some Wonderful memories along the way. If you’re looking for a budget friendly 7 seater car then look no further. This is probably the only review I’ve ever written online and that probably shows how much we’ve enjoyed using this car over the last 5 years
The fact that the car's speaker picks up the voices so the people in the third row can hear is AMAZING. When my friends and I go out in his car (Expedition EL) I can never hear the people in the front from the third row.

I’m very satisfied with our 2018 TDI Touran. Having 3 growing up lads the rav4 space is no longer enough. I like the space and extra 2 seats at the back. We also bought Thule box for added space during roadtrips. Belfast to Dublin round trip around 300miles on £30 diesel.
This latest obsession with cross over SUVs is a pity because medium sized people carriers are very practical. The Touran SE with 150ps diesel is almost exactly the same price as the 2wd Tiguan SE with 150ps. The Touranis an exceptionally roomy, practical vehicle. The 2wd Tiguan has no more function than the golf: style over substance.
It's weird they are called "SUV's" I find. so "Sports" there's nothing sporty about them, "Utility" compared to what exactly? add very little extra compared to most cars, their height and elevated driving position is helpful for some so I suppose i'll give them that.
i still have 2007 from brand new , fucking awsome car 2 litter diesel manual , 140 bhp stock , 7 people easy ,,, i v taken all the seats out only left front two , car is soo light , and post remap i can take on cars like bmw 520d .... fuel economy out of a full fuel tank is around 1000 km if driven carefully , all rouder its a freaking awsome car , :)
The VW Touran has a practical and great interior very easy to drive great quality light weight doors and the cloth seats are more comfortable than leather
I used to own a 2007 VW Touran and it was a truly brilliant car. It had many more storage cubbies than my 2018 Passat and the rear seats could slide and recline unlike my Passat.
I just bought a new one...Trendline 1.5TSI MY 2021...6 speed manual, business pack (GPS - Panorama-roof ..) 7 seats - rear view camera - mirror pack - family pack - dolphin grey metallic -.... 27.745 € all in...🥳🥳
The first ever review where I agree with everything matt has said, but just adding to the point you made about the infotainment. It is touchscreen and you can use a selector wheel. The button on the opposite side of the volume is the selector and you twist it.
Yes, another lighter colour would ve a very nice change. Every Touran I see these days seem to be the same old boring dark blue. A lighter colour wld give it a bit more pep.
I actually know what you mean about the 1.2 TSI engine Mat, i have one in my Yeti, surprisingly rapid for an engine that displaces as much as... well a milk carton :P:
Sorry I am not familiar with fleet taxation in the UK, but why is it that corporate fleets should want cars with under 100g/km CO2? Are there more discounts than being tax free and London congestion charge exempt?
He claimed the car was doing 55,3 mpg, but if you watch the video at 6:14 the car is't running and but there is background road noise. HMMM. Watch carefully. that's a bit of a con.
The mpg is an average over a period of time. You do not need to be in motion to see your mpg average. They cannot film the speedometer and dash while the car is driving, due to safety.
And the background noise is because the narration is happening while driving, and the speedometer recording is separate. They have voiced over the speedometer filming, to get the narration of the mpg during the mpg filming. Common sense.
You're very sympathetic person Mat. Pls write on the screen they're talking for example horse power, torque and other technical specs. Greetings from Turkey
appelpower1 What if people want to?? It's not my cup of tea yet some people don't like pills, rubbers and enjoy eachother. Rather get an SUV. Some also in 7 seater options.
Firemarioflower True, but if you really want to this is the unfortunate consequence. The only option is indeed a seven-seater SUV, but the only affordable ones aren't very good cars.
Not really as you can get lots of high speced ones regardless theses aren't the most popular in the UK. In America they are so maybe that's why, Volkswagen probably spend the most in designing their MOV then other European manafacturers
its all good but it would have been brilliant if there is leather seats because it is a family car and little kids make mess and vomit etc. so leather seats make sense in this type of cars.
Do not ever buy a Volkswagen Touran SE Family 1.6 DSG 7speed automatic 2018 car. It has a faulty on clutch. Every about 30000-35000 miles have to change the clutch and it cost more money. I bought this car was in July 2018 and since that changed the clutch twice. 1st time about 35000miles and again 2nd time about 62000miles. If anybody want to buy a car, try another model
But did you have warranty? It's completely normal to have to change the clutch on these DSG7 DQ 200, which are dry clutch gearboxes. On any dry dual clutch gearbox you have to change the clutches which aren't very expensive and they'll change them under warranty. They are used on low power engine cars to save fuel and lower C02 emissions, on cars with more than 250nm the dsg7 has wet clutches like on the DQ381. Bit for these cars a dry clutch system is good enough and normally they last over 60,000miles so maybe you drive a lot in the city and burned up the clutches faster.

The fact that the car's speaker picks up the voices so the people in the third row can hear is AMAZING. When my friends and I go out in his car (Expedition EL) I can never hear the people in the front from the third row.
