Identifying gun sounds for me is like remembering which door should be opened or closed by default, you don't have to learn it but it'll be better if you do.
@@1999Dorito didnt't say it's a bad thing tho. What i meant is you didn't have to learn this skill, but if you learn this stuff you'll have an advantage than the others who don't. Bcs not everyone want to learn what gun sound is that, or which door should be opened or closed by default. Anyways not a negative comment or what, just want to clear things. Cheers!
I've always heard streamers call out certain guns when trying to engage. It's helpful to finally know some of the more iconic sounds and help distinguish a likely player fight vs a scav fighting a player. Knowing scav weapon sounds seems helpful. Thanks for the vid!
Got to say more than a few pistol calibers were louder at 100 than 50 but I am also old so don't hear high freq. Thanks for the effort this obviously took to compile.
1. this is an EXTREMELY useful video. By knowing what gun a guy is using from the sounds, you can get a general understanding of what he's using... like a guy with an SR will probably have t5 armor. 2. goddamn do those gunshots sound good
Great now I can identify the sounds before they come through my 10 year old headphones that I got to watch movies on a plane when I was 9 and get clipped.
kudos to you for taking the time, man! I missed one gun, that used to be a popular scav gun back in the day and it sounds quite peculiar: the vepr hunter maybe in a different iteration of the video 😁
@@marcellon2003 i had it happen earlier this wipe i believe, 2 guys were running them and shot at me so i was like oh bet its idiots with scav vepr hunters, ended up fucking me up with their dvls i died
Thank you very much for this video :D this sure will help me to differentiate the gun sounds and become a less noobier guy in tarkov, your content is just amazing to learn from ^_^
Nice work on the vid… 6k hours watched video a few times I think I have just come to accept I cannot remember the sounds… haha don’t matter how much I try. What I did take away from this video is better understanding of distance shots are away. So for that I am greatful
the gun that I recognize easily and that distinguish itself from most is RSAS(not in vide) I did not know that the weird sound I heard all this time across map was a RFB lol.
There seems to be some kind of audio compressor that has severe clipping in the first "bang" of the gunshot, then really loud echo after. Probably an audio setting of yours but it unintentionally makes the close up gunfire very hard to differentiate That being said, the 50m and 100m are audible and distinct enough that I was able to ID a bunch of weapons that I had been mistaking for others, or ones I flat out didn't know. KEDR I used to swear was an M4 at 100+m, and it took me way too long to figure out that the "poom poom" I'd hear in the distance was an MP-153 and not some AK or DMR lol This will really help people decide which gunshots to push 👍
@@JonnyBooSock Oh dang that's interesting, I've never noticed that effect ingame. I wonder if something has changed with headsets somewhat recently, although by the time the gunfire is that close to me, I'm not really concerned about a tiny audio clipping issue if ya know what I mean
I think the first gun I learned to differentiate was the kedr, especially indoors because it has that metallic clicki-clack to it. But wonderful video.
They all have no sound at 100m suppressed. And at 50m suppressed, they don't sound much different from 10m, just quieter, so I didn't bother recording it
If you are ever going to expand this video, i would love plus 1 or 2 distances, i feel like there is still a little bit of difference between a 100 and 200 or more. I know this took ages to make so im not trying to sound ungrateful, as many others I've always wanted a video like this, its a shame i only found it after 8 months.
Also there is so many maniacs who use loud DVL-s on EU i never knew that sound was a loud DVL, and for some reason i always thought that the TOZ distant sound was a mosin lol
While there is some volume variation at distance, I THINK all the actual different sfx changes are covered in this video. I may be wrong, but I think there's only 3 different sets of sounds per guns based on distance. I'll play around with it more some day
Question, do ammo types not affect the sounds? I remember watching one with subsonics and it seems audibility is affected but they were using suppressors
sadly only up to 100m and only sup shots at 10m but ithink it was still soo much work for you and your mate(s) i appreciate the great video suggestion: a part 2 with longer ranges and supp guns on all ranges because you can hear way more supp guns then loud once
The sounds don't change beyond 100m to my knowledge so there was no point in going further, it's just volume beyond that point. Same with the suppressed shot, you'd be able to hear it at 50m but it sounds the same as 10m, and it is silent at 100m.
@@JonnyBooSock Yeah, thats also true, but it could be helpful for newer players to learn the approximate distance between the Timmy and the other player or scav (but still, overall, a great video, especially for new guys. I also sent it to the Timmy, which im teaching the game right now just for him to learn more stuff)
Edit - Last gun is the Scar H, NOT the SA58 twice in a row 😊
You typed SA58 but I read *SA80* then got really exited 😀 ... 😕
This must have taken ages to organise. I'm sure thats why no one else has done one so fat props and kudos to you mate - thanks alot, very useful video
It took longer than I expected, I'll say that much haha. But I'm very happy I got it done. Thanks for watching!
For real, I was thinking the same thing while watching, you can see how much time it had to have taken. Much appreciated, great video
Identifying gun sounds for me is like remembering which door should be opened or closed by default, you don't have to learn it but it'll be better if you do.
Exactly!
Not a bad thing to know, for example if i hear an unsupressed svd not at sawmill i usually know the person isnt too smart or good at the game lmao

I think I released it at a funky time with wipe and all. Happy with it nonetheless 😀

Thank you so much, there's nothing like this on youtube and I really needed one

I think I should've included it as well. It's a very iconic sound, something like a hard "clap" in the distance!

Great idea for a video and well executed. Thank you.

the Toz at 100 meters. I always thought that sound was a Mosin. I have no idea what guns sound like after 3 wipes apparently.
Same it kinda has that POP sound like a mosin
I guess what youre looking for in the mosin is the crack

The compression is due to the in game headsets. They each have their own compression, eq, and balance settings (ambient vs player sounds vs gunshots)

It should be tried from afar while the guns have a silencer, so we can understand which gun has no sound at 100 meters.

what about indoor sounds?
What would you say an rsass sounds like?
Why did you not do the 100m on the VSS/VAL?
Because it's not audible at 100m.
I heard the vpo hunter is almost silent hope to see it
Not true at all has the same audio as unsupressed dvl pretty loud and recognizable
thank god you can put a suppressor on in raid
Upload more jonny your a chad
I'm trying 🥲
Can someone help me out… What is the gun that almost sounds like someone’s using an automatic grenade launcher?? Is it the emplacement guns???
Could be the mounted gl? Depending on the map
It's probably the AGS-30 mounted grenade launcher machinegun.
Where is the FN-FAL?
can anyone answer why i hear the crack of a shot as if it came at me but nobody is shooting at me?
Just bugged audio. It happens when someone across the map shoots your direction even though the projectile is nowhere near you. It's very bothersome
i feel like at range, the ump is identifiable by fire rate alone
