It’s also the 9th school in the country with most start ups and the internship and research opportunities are insane because it’s in the middle of downtown

Quick question, what other schools did you have to decide between before settling for ut Austin? I’ve been admitted to civil engineering in ut so I’m heavily leaning towards it but I’m just unsure about mainly costs.
i was between this and texas a&m because they both have really good engineering programs. i'm really happy i ended up here though because the campus & culture are just so great. it's definitely an investment, but if you can find a way to come here it's 100% worth it

there isn’t really a school that’s “better” it’s just what you’re interested in. personally, I love math & physics so I chose engineering, but if you’re more interested in data analysis or things like that I’d do business. at the end of the day, just follow what really interests you
When you apply to UT and put down your intended major, I understand you are binded to the school that you applied to (in this case engineering) but are you also binded to the major you selected (in this case were you a mechanical engineering major from your first day?) or are freshman able to enter the school of engineering and still be unsure of their specific discipline?
you are bound to both the school and the major. i actually really like that though, because other schools will make you apply after your freshman year for a specific major and you might get put somewhere that you don’t necessarily want to pursue in the future.
