I like your dream and I hope you can find a good project some day. I can still spot a vintage jeep way out in a field even when I'm driving by at 55mph.
Incredible restoration. What a wonderful gift for your father-in-law. I had a 46 CJA I bought it from the original owner in 1964, when I was just 16 years old. Restored the best I could given my limited financial resources at that age. It was the love of my life. I'll never forget it, including the many mountains and desert trips I took on it in the southwest where I lived.
Bruce, thanks for nice note. I love your story about the Jeep being your first car. I bet you can still hear and smell it. Yes, it was the best thing I could have done for my Father in Law. He was SO HAPPY and watched my video over and over. I’ve been married to his daughter for 30 years!
I like the way it's presented in low fps stop motion kind of style. It adds a bit of something that makes the processes of restoration more engaging to watch
I actually learned how to drive in a CJ2a that my buddy had in high school, sure have a bunch of great stories about that rig......beautiful restoration, only one problem, now I wouldn't want to use the jeep for it intended purpose, I would be afraid to scratch it........👍👍
Very nice job you're lucky that the vehicle is running when you started this. But the side modifications you did add to it did not override the original concept. I like the rear tire mount.
No abs No air bags No electronic ignition No catalytic converter No anti lock brakes No seat belts No AC No rear view camera I WANT ONE so badly even if it is a Philippine look alike kit Great loving job I learned to drive in a an old 3 CJ that had a bad scync and would slip out of second when you took your foot off the gas
Hello. Thanks for watching video. Regarding bumpers, I couldn’t find anything specifically for the CJ-2a but I found these bumpers that were meant for a CJ-5 and they had a similar width. With slight mods I was able to make them work.
Hi Matthew. Thanks for watching. The backing track is from the song Lucky Man by The Verve. I tend to use only backing tracks instead of full songs with lyrics. I hope you have a nice holiday season.
@@matthewharfman7314 there are numerous places but I like www.karaoke-version.com/ The prices are great and they have a pretty good selection. The main issue is when using some if these tracks for UA-cam background music, UA-cam sometimes disallows it if you don't have the rights to use the music, even if doesn't include lyrics. For some reason, The Verve must not have 'protected' their backing track but I often get denied when I try to upload a video and I have to change the music to something generic or in the public domain. Have fun.
Hi Kenneth. Thanks for the comment. I’ve got the Jeep at another location so I can’t check the frame serial number. Sorry about that. Do you have one of the same year?
@@Paul355c Great fun. Watching you do yours was deja vu all over again for me. Especially when you brought that Harvard Red back to life in exactly the same paint color as my repaint. The frame tag will be a small brass tag riveted to one of the frame members. The same production # will be stamped into the firewall. I believe mine was 75863.
Hello. The biggest cost was the outsourced rust repair, body work and paint. That was something like $12,000. Everything else was another $4,000 in parts if you don’t count any value of my personal labor. Thanks for the question.
Hi. It was a product from a company called Fishbone. It was actually made for a CJ-5 I believe and I adapted it to work with the CJ-2a frame. It wasn’t that hard. It was tricky to find a rear number that was as narrow as the CJ-2a but this Fishbone product worked great.
Pitiful video! You did NOT restore a legend but, instead, destroyed one and created a freak! Best of luck, but a video with music and no narration is further evidence that you have a rather awful format! We have a CJ-2A that is absolutely stock, with no upgrades and is a daily driver and has been in the family from 1946 when I was with my parents when they bought it. Best of luck, but have some respect for those who went before you!
Restoration My ASS! 1946 did not have alternators or bumpers like that or tail lights like that . the back seat is wrong for a 1946 . tires and wheels SUCK! please just call it a rebuild close to original. RED! OH MY

Wow!, Very nice... I have done that on my 42' MB. yours looks great. So great to keep in the family. There is nothing better than an old Flat fender
I’m glad you enjoyed watching that. What a great part of Americana
WOW!!! What a labor of love! I love the how she came out in the end!! 💗
You did it Paul! what a beauty. I exclaimed out loud when you did the slow overhead and underbody roll outs. It was uncontrollable.
I would have kept the stock rims and tail lights. You can swap the reflector to a second tail light that looks like the reflector. But gorgeous work!
I understand your point. I actually put the stick wheels and tail lights back on it since that video was made. :)
Tight work! Looks awesome! Am in the process of getting one..n ..look forward to using it as an EDD!
