True to some extent of Tim Henman too, who has spent the past twenty years being the butt of “not as good as Andy” jokes and yet clearly cares for and respects him so much.

@@louloureads3953I feel like they would have been able to empathise and support each other when it came to the media stuff as well. Andy wasn’t very well liked for a while and lots of nasty stuff was printed about him. I’m sure they both know what it’s like to have to block that out all too well.

He's a hero to all the Sots who have left Scotland(and there are MANY). The opportunities to pursue any sort of achievements without money and "connections" just did not exist and it really did not appear that there ever would. The Murray family have given Scotland and their people hope. My father played tennis with my mom and sister at Clydebank tennis club which was shut down to build the Erskine bridge on top of its grounds. My parents left Scotland twice in 1962 and after 3 years of no chances to advance in anything upon returning to Scotland they left for good in 1973. When dad was dying of lung cancer in 2015 I made sure he saw the matches for the Davis cup. He died in September of that year knowing that the Murrays had secured team Britain's Davis cup victory which happened later that year. The Murrays dont speak about the trauma jamie and andy survived as children at their school. They surely both struggle with post traumatic stress disorder which makes it even more remarkable that they have both achieved much on and off the court. You are our heros!!

Look at the way he has been with Dan Evans, practically falling over himself to give Dan credit for their wins, when he could have grabbed all the credit for himself. I’ll miss Andy enormously. I remember first watching him on TV playing Queen’s in 2005. There and then you just knew he was going to be awesome. He’s lived up to that and so much more.

I remember the 70’s, watching Borg and Evert. For so many years, we were lucky if a British man made it to week 2 of Wimbledon.
Then Tim came along and absolutely raised the game for us.
Watching Andy at Wimbledon in 2008 during a momentous tournament he captured us.
And then he gave us, for many years, his absolute best.
He’s a lesson in decency and all of his family here are wonderful, each in their own right.
I watched the U.S. Open final with my mum. She was gravely ill but insisted on staying up with me. She told me…
He will win Wimbledon next year. I might not be here but I will be with you.
I watched it on my own but I can tell you I will never forget that feeling.
I got married in 2016 and it coincided with Semis at Wimbledon. I wrote a poem for my husband, about how I’d had to give up Andy for the day. We spent our wedding night watching the matches and Andy won on the Sunday. What a weekend that was! (And thanks to my husband who sat through the lot with me!)
All of us who love him have these moments women through us. It’s not just tennis. It’s how it moves in our lives, and how it connects us.
Sir Andy, thank you. From a young kid who watched Bjorn Borg in awe, I never would have dreamed that someone closer to home could live that dream. 🙏

I'm going to miss seeing Andy out there. With him and Roger now gone, and with Rafa and Novak near the end, it's sad. I literally watched his entire career, and now it's over. I don't think Andy was as naturally talented as the other members of the big 4, but what he lacked he made up for it with hard work, grit, and determination. I think in any other era he would probably have reached double digits in slam numbers. However, he still had a stellar career that most guys would give a lung for. Thanks Andy for the memories.

This guy has put his body thru hell for 30+ years to secure a cushy life for his family while all Kim had to do was look good and she got it all handed to her. Yet she even if jokingly has the audacity to say that "now he can help me with the school run".
There is a difference in the 2 genders and we have to accept it and not just shout about equality when it is beneficial.
    Wonderful words by Jamie.

Kim would have lived a cushy life with or without him her dad is Nigel Sears and whose coached a few players. She has always lived a cushy life but she doesn't seem arrogant or up herself at all. She made a joke about a school run which I'm sure Andy will actually be happy to finally go and do school runs. This comment of yours is very out of place.

lol what he put his body through hell because he was a competitor and wanted to be the best tennis player. He didn’t do it for his family, he was a multi millionaire before he had a child.
