Let Him Run Wild is THE song that alerted people to this young kid Brian Wilson being something extraordinary as opposed to just a talented songwriter like many others before him.
Bryn Athyn Pennsylvania well represented here...28 years of friends and acquaintances from the high school and in many cases, the local college. this 2004 show, featuring Chad Ohdner and gang just superlative. and with this marvelous Fendertones music, we hope they have the ability to reconvene again for the Beachboys 50th anniversary, coming in 2011, I do believe. any promoter, tv type, etc. would be crazy not to call on these guys to help celebrate such a momentous event. jctoronto
Let Him Run Wild was released in the summer of 1965 as the flip side of California Girls. When I brought that 45 home for the first time, I had already been enamored with California Girls as a miniature symphony or sorts. Then upon playing Let Him Run Wild for the first time, my reaction was that this is another movement in that same symphony. And to hear a second generation interpretation such as this, which not only understands all of the subtle nuances of the original but executes them both faithfully and from a visionary perspective is nothing short of answered prayer. Absolute, utter perfection. If the Fendertones ever get around to recording original material, it's probably safe to say that the results will be game changing, to put it mildly.
I've been the the music business for many years grew up in the South Bay area in California the the Wilson family didn't live far from us. I was at KRLA when Brian gave Kasey Sloop John Bee
Have u listened to the the Chicago tribute band Leonid and friends 🤔they sound exactly like Chicago ❤check out 25 or six to four or wishing u we’re here🤩you’ll swear it’s Chicago 😅
Covering the Beach Boys is *never* easy but covering difficult tunes like this relatively obscure one circa 1965 when Brian Wilson was composing in Burt Bacharach style with this kind of precision is just sick! Amazing!
They are the best Beach Boys cover band I've heard. Exacting. Precise. Fantastic. But there is another band that is easily their equal for Beatles songs: The Analogues, in case you didn't know. Oh to see them both on the same bill would be fantastic!
Blown away with these guys Edwin, you should get them out on tour because I can assure you they would be phenominal, especially over here in Great Britain, (Im Scottish so Edinburgh would be fine for me)
Amazing!! The lead vocal is perfect, Chad should be the singer of the Brian Wilson band! Perfect falsetto, almost 100% identical to Brian's in the mid-sixties!
I absolutely love that guitar counter melody. The emotion of that line makes the song other- worldly. Great playing. The over-all instrumenta are spot on. You guys have nailed the sound of the Wrecking Crew. Lead singer has done a fabulous job. Beautiful job on a very, very difficult melody. The harmonies are tight and the notes are correct.
You guys are just fantastic, covering and actually improving on old Beach Boys classics. I'm 72, so this was my music as a pre-teen and teenager...when it was NEW! I remember sitting in back seat of my parents car after buying "Shut Down Vol, II" and anticipating hearing it when we got home. This must have been around '63 or '64, when I was 11 or 12. Keep up the great work, guys. 🎶🎹
And here I am just discovering them in 2023. I feel cheated for missing out on the Fendertones for all of these years. I don’t see anything posted by them recently, so they must have split and moved on. But they are/were spectacular.
@@TsukiumisGuy Thanks. I stumbled upon that tidbit too. After I discovered the Fendertones, I've been on a quest to find out as much as I can about them.
Easily the best version I've ever heard after the Beach Boys. I have literally listened to "Let Him Run Wild" as performed by the Beach Boys hundreds of times over the last 40 years.
Having been a musician in the sixties and having done a load of Beach Boy's material, it does me good to hear it carried on with such excellence and perfection. Stunning, absolutely stunning!!
This leaves me speechless !....I can't believe how spot on they nailed this...it's one of my favorite all time songs and they did it as well as the the beach boys !...these guys are incredible !
The most underrated of Brian Wilson’s compositions. A great lead vocal here. The engineer does a fine job balancing the vocals and instruments. How many channels was he juggling?
One theory I've heard about the story behind this song is that Brian was siding with his mom, Audree, in his parents' divorce. Murry Wilson was an abusive husband and father, and the Wilson brothers were very loyal to mom. Anyway, Fendertones -- superb job. I'm thrilled to see such talented young musicians focusing on the music of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. These songs are 20th century standards. The Music and the performance: it doesn't get any better than this.
The Beach Boys of course double-tracked (and sometimes tripled) parts in the studio. These guys know that the only way to emulate the BB's studio vocals is by having more guys on stage singing! It works!
In My Room is classic. I would like to hear Surf's Up, Free Flow and the entire California Saga. In this video, it would have been great to follow with Girl Don't Tell Me.
Loving the Fendertones since discovering the band a few ago. The closest to BW's touring band you ever get. And great to see Chad singing with Brian last month as guest vocalist at some shows! RESPECT!
Jesus, most of these kids weren't even born when Dennis died. How it lifts this old man's heart to see & hear this in a world of (c)rap and synthesized, processed mush.
These guys are great and I've seen them with a harp on stage, but I've searched and can't find them doing "Wouldn't It Be Nice". What the hell's the deal? They MUST do that song!
I'm a lifelong Beach Boys fan, collected every studio album, bootlegs & demos over the years & know these songs like the back of my hand...I have to say you've nailed every single one of them. I'm simply blown away, and I've shared these performances with every Beach Boys fan I know today.
To the guy playing the sleigh bells on this song and various other instruments on other Fendertones songs....I hear you . You are good. I am a drummer myself and recognize your contribution to the band...you are right on. I am a huge fan of the fendertones and would love to see them in concert, as I'm sure everyone who sees this video would. Try and make that happen...a national tour would be sold out. I think you have enough fans to do it....at least on the east coast. I hope you rock on.
I've been a BB's fan since the beginning of time and I had never run across you guys. What a great sound. Wish I had run across you before now. I'd love to see you in concert. Thanks
In addition to Chad's lead vocals, the musicians make this song, especially the saxophone. Such heart and soul. They make you feel the song ... right in the soul!
Unbelievable work on all their tracks. Let Him Run Wild, Little Girl I Once New. Whoever thought we'd here those performed live? I'd love to know all that went in to dissecting Brian Wilson's arrangements. Outstanding, gentlemen!
Simply amazing...the dedication and work that must have gone into this. Brian's music will be every bit as valid as that of Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, etc a hundred years from now. These guys are the new generation of classical musicians, dedicated to performing the composer/author's works with the highest degree of accuracy and detail. God bless the Fendertones...
That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time! Yeah, DVD please. Everyone involved did a fab job. Lead vocals were spot on! Great job, fellas!
To the young men who are " The Fendettones", as a life time fan the The Beach Boys, please--please kepp up this great work. and as long as we're making requests: how about " Please Let Me Wonder", one of my all-time favs by the guys. Great work!! Wolfsky9, 63 y/o.
we know the vocals are so special, so good.......but how about the precise instruments...a perfect marriage of the two...my God, a wilson masterpiece here.
A very detailed cover of an intricate tune by the MASTER of pop music! I wonder just how much of this Brian has heard by the Fendertones. What an excellent triibute to his music. The Fendertones make it all LOOK easy, but it is a very tough labor of love.
Such a wonderful, wonderful cover of an amazing song. Fendertones honor in the best way, humbly and with true devotion, Brian Wilson and The Beach Boys. Many thanks for this work.
Not only in America, also on the other side of the ocean this brings great joy.

My favorite bb song.
I always thought that Don’t Worry Baby was the greatest B side. This is right up there.
Chad Odhner's lead is amazing. You can tell he's been singing this for years.
I agree with you.
Where are these fantastic ppls in July 2023?? We need them back asap And doing Concerts ❤❤❤❤
As a long time musician and Beach Boys fan, the Fendertones are fantastic.
Ya' beat me to it, Jim. Absolutely the best cover band for the BB's that exists. There is no one finer!
I've been the the music business for many years grew up in the South Bay area in California the the Wilson family didn't live far from us. I was at KRLA when Brian gave Kasey Sloop John Bee
Same to both here. Frankly I’ve got good ears and this is just somewhere between spot-on and inspired!

he didn't follow Burt did he...he was still ACE unique never to be found again
if honey had a sound lol cheers i may rewind many times lol
A chance to really hear the sonics of the arrangement(s).
Precisely.
Wow what a great group! Definitely first runner up behind the beach boys
💯excellent ❤
The Fendertones...the group against which every tribute band in the world must be measured...and none will measure up.
Outstanding!

+Jefferson Prata You are quite right, sounds so beautiful.
I believe Chad did sing with the Brian Wilson band.
Agreed100 👏👏👏👏👏
No one could be Brian’s equal pre 1968.

You guys have nailed the sound of the Wrecking Crew. Lead singer has done a fabulous job. Beautiful job on a very, very difficult melody. The harmonies are tight and the notes are correct.
He absolutely has Brian Wilson's sound down! That was outstanding! The Fendertones are the real deal!
As a life long Beach Boys/Brian Wilson fan, these guys are amazing!!!❤❤❤❤
Thrilling when the chorus comes in. Awesome.

@@jzeunik Agree. There isn't enough info about them and I would like to know more. They are fantastic!.
So do i😂
Agreed - I just found them this morning.
Pure joy listening to this meticulous recreation. Well done! Thank you 😊❤️😊
Easily the best version I've ever heard after the Beach Boys. I have literally listened to "Let Him Run Wild" as performed by the Beach Boys hundreds of times over the last 40 years.
Gary Stump Sr. That makes two of us. We're in good company.
This fills me with joy.The performance is so faithful to the detail of the original and so lovingly sung..wow...
+allbuzzedup1 I enjoy all their covers. They do a bang up job in all aspects!
Having been a musician in the sixties and having done a load of Beach Boy's material, it does me good to hear it carried on with such excellence and perfection. Stunning, absolutely stunning!!
They have to be the best tribute band of them all

It's amazing that a batch of the most spectacularly unhip dudes got together and came up with this incredible sound.
Needed some good songs today..... Love that some young (old as ya feel) do this 👍❤️x
HAUNTING...AS TRUE AND PURE AS THE BEACHBOYS DELIVERED 50+ years ago....thanks again Fendertones 2004

Great cover of a Brian Wilson classic. The lead singer does a great job replicating Brian's 1960s falsetto vocals.
Remember this was the B side of one of the BB’s hits. This was the side I wore out. Great job.
I’m also a papa ray and totally agree with you.
first time I ran into the Fendertones was tonight...
OUTRAGEOUS....ALL THE TRACKS UP ON YOU TUBE
