We hope you enjoyed the serene journey through Amaroo by Shaun Lockyer Architects, a home designed for calm and connection to the beautiful Australian landscape. For more of the latest and greatest in architecture, interior design and house tours, be sure to order a copy of our new trio of hardcover books - Habitats: City, Coast and Forest: thelocalproject.com.au/product/habitats-city-coast-forest/
Another example of why you hire an architect to design your home. You then have the pleasure of living in a one of a kind masterpiece that bubbled up to fruition from the architect's mind.
I think that might just be my perfect house. The location, the colour palette, the textures, the flow, the way it sits on the land. It's just...perfect.
Right to be proud of this - incredibly beautiful use of joinery and structure to frame the views - it feels protected and private but wonderfully connected to the surrounds, and with nothing gimmicky that will go out of style in the next decade. Thanks for showing us this.
The shape does sit perfectly on the site, calm and natural, like it belongs, a perfect fit. I'd worry about the open grain stone flooring materials, they'll get dirty and be impossible to clean.
Great to hear the designer make reference to the whole team involved but such a pity to be describing natural stone as a “product”. Just tell us what the stone is!
Beautiful home but come on guys, 350 square metters is not a « relatively small house »… get some respect for people who lived in 10 times smaller please.
Yeah, that was wild to hear. 3767 sqft is massive! It’s 30% bigger than the average newly built house size in the US and this is a single floor home too
You can tell we are not this architects target lol. This is an out of touch way to communicate but it’s pretty common once they start working on really large luxury homes
As someone who lives in a v small condo in a big city - this is incredibly inspiring- and possible. You can totally level up your home at a modest price - High end finishes and millwork, the works. This beautiful result is loaded with great ideas! ❤🙏✨
I wouldn't worry so much about that in these rural areas, but what I'm more curious about is that in a country where so many creatures that fly, slither, and/or crawl are trying to kill you, the houses all open up to the outside to invite them in! 🤣
Great site, structure, and setup. The pool though...wait, what? No details or b-roll of the pool. It's just out there in the mist with no story to add, share? Odd mis on that one, TLP team. Bummer.
I'm not sure if it is the reason in this particular case, but in areas subject to wildfires it is prudent to reduce the potential fuel load near homes to increase the likelihood of the structure surviving - especially in rural areas where the homeowner is likely the first (and often last) line of defense. I'm sure there are those who will respond with "then don't live in those areas", but the benefits and privilege of waking up to fresh air, beautiful, peaceful surroundings, space and no neighbours is something everyone should be able to appreciate.
This house is deliberately away from the trees, as australia is a massive fire risk location so on acreage it’s best to be in the open away from the fire source. There are hundreds of acres of trees surrounding the house and not one tree was removed in the building of the house. You also need to be careful to give dangerous wild life a place to hide up against the house……
Hard to shake that accent Boet! If ever you require a fresh new intern in about 5 years, hit me up. I got a budding architect in the making. She needs mentorship.🙏🏻

I love how the environment blends with the home with natural materials. Thanks Local Project 😎
Wow. This is beautiful. I love the contrast of materials between wood and stone.

huge fan of the bookshelf floating above the windows
Everyone involved should be very proud of this one! Especially the builder.

Thanks for the support, we're glad you enjoyed Amaroo 🙌
One of the rare, truly timeless homes. Sublime
Me gusta la sobriedad y serenidad de la casa. Atemporal, directa y práctica, elegante.
Shaun and Co have done it again! Sublime. I want to live here.
The mudroom is such a great touch. It's perfect for a house in the countryside.
The details in this home are everything. Simply stunning!
What a stunning home and location and it just happens to be my favourite Aussie's home!
This property is great!!! Very well planned and executed. Beautiful!
My favorite for '24 beautifully designed and appointed. Bravo!
Mature and sophisticated design, elegant use of materials
Beautiful interiors. Looks like it drove the project rather than outside in.
I love this kind of home too much, woww. Thanks for your video.
Legendary Mark Webber!
Amaroo is also the name of race track located north/west of Sydney, it was closed and the land sold in 1998 sadly. It is where Mark & Ann met in 1995.
that is really sweet
Simply beautiful ❤️
Great design. All make sense in this house. Nice job and good video

Limited palate & natural materials - first time I’ve heard those phrases on this channel 😊

350m2 is "relatively small"???! Relative to what? The Palace of Versailles??

Next thing you know Sebastian Vettel will have a home built in the mountainside facing this home.
To budu mít taky, ze jo!? 😂😂😂😅
Ale kuchyň u babky budu dělat ještě příští rok 😅
великолепно
How many people are involved into one episode like this one?

Love the property though and I understand what he is saying
Probably relative to how much it cost, it is relatively small. Quality is expensive

Casually dropping Mark Weber as his client
Have no clue who M.W. Is but love when a client shares my vision! 🇺🇸
👍
what i dont get some times is for houses like these that have no fence and protections etc, isn't extremely easy to get robbed and damaged ?
I wouldn't worry so much about that in these rural areas, but what I'm more curious about is that in a country where so many creatures that fly, slither, and/or crawl are trying to kill you, the houses all open up to the outside to invite them in! 🤣

I can afford to buy this house, I just don't want to right now.
Amaroo is a tailess kangaroo.
Bored with relaxation projects for extremely rich
Wish people hated lawns/grass like they've started to hate trees. Lack of trees is just frightening

They have a ton of trees around them. And have clearance for bush fires which are common each summer in Australia.

Excuse me..... did you say Mark Webber. I almost missed that..... almost. This is what F1 Money buys huh?? Nice

😳 w
The house does not fit its context in any way.
Insufferable. Looks dead like a retreat hotel for Amazon finance middle management
If you don't have the beautiful environment, these kind of buildings or designs are not that intriguing...
