- Hi, my name is Katie, known as myhitlife.
I just want to say thank you so much for all your support and engagement on my, "A Day in the Life of a SAP Consultant". Every question that you ask me I will always response with a vlog. To show all SAP Q&A's so far please see the below playlist:
• SAP Vlogs
FYI I am not a SAP ABAP Developer! But, of course with my role as an SAP Functional Consultant we work along side developers. So I can of course give you a high level overview of what they do on a day to day basis. How their role integrates within a project cycle. So comparing the two vlogs could give you an incline into what career path you would like to follow.
Interestingly I find some developers vlogs (non-SAP related) all about Unit Testing and not mentioning any other test cycles. Testing on a development is certainly not just at a Unit Test level! Well for a big project anyways! Hence why is SAP we have the following cycles (old school names, but to again give you an understanding):
- Unit Testing (developer performs it). Once complete the developer will then state to the Functional Consultant they are ready to test which then feeds into the next phase
- Functional Unit Testing (Functional Consultant tests the development and ensures it fits the client requirements)
- System Testing (Testing the development with other modules e.g. Finance, Production Planning etc. and if the Functional Consultant finds any defects. They will then go back to the developer)
- System Integration Testing (Functional Consultant testing the development E2E with SAP and Non-SAP systems)
- User Acceptance Testing (Performed by the actual business users where the Functional Consultant helps walk them through the functionality. If the solution then doesn't fit the requirements the developer will then look at amending the development and the above test cycles will be repeated (at a much quicker rate!) before delivered back to the user
Always feel free to reach out and ask any other questions! I've put slightly a bit more detail above, but honestly once you get on one project it will all click. And you can use these project management skills to any future project. Example I'm quite a nerd so I may or may not have applied this project life cycle to all my social media projects.
There are some Consultancy companies which will allow you to become a Techno Functional aka you have both skill sets! Which is obviously incredible!

I'm an IT Consultant who now lives in hotels 3-4 days a week from August 2018. Beforehand I was hotel living 4-5 days a week. I have not only maintained my fitness journey... I've gotten more fit. I've been hotel living since Sept 2017 and vlogging my journey since June 2018. Everyday to hold myself accountable on social media I post 3 times a day on each platform. I share all my knowledge and I'm extremely authentic. I even go live every day on IG and Facebook.
I will be producing a daily vlog everyday sharing my knowledge with yourselves.

I truly believe you should never be a victim of the circumstances YOU chose! I have no fitness background, but I've managed. A couple of years on I'm currently training for the nbc The Titan Games (switched now to SAS: Who Dares Wins). My mantra is always to lead by example.
Soo sweet of you replying to every comment, those chats were soo informative. Thank you!
Thank you! I appreciate everyone’s time they spent watching the vid. Sometimes I create Vlog answers too :)

Aww I’m glad! Thanks for reaching out and you’ll crush your journey!
Hi katie! Recently joined an organization and working on ABAP and exploring it. This video helped me to get the overview of the project cycle. Thanks. Keep telling your stories. It helps.

How is career growth as an ABAP DEVELOPER
Hi Katie, thank you for making these videos! I've noticed the audio on these videos seems quite low so perhaps in the future, you could boost the decibels on the audio track in your video editing software in future videos.
Thanks friends! Noted 😊
Hi Katie. Thank you for this video so helpful. May you please explain further on transports I would really be interested knowing about them.
Im not a technical developer myself. Therefore, I won’t be doing transport videos.
like this vlog dear
Thank you
It's a really great video!!
I need some advice
I'm am 2020 graduate got a job in a MNC, i got SAP ABAP as my technology for training, i am electronics student - i have less basics in coding.
can give any insights to a fresher like me from where to start learning SAP ABAP and ways to get expertise in the field.
Just apply for a SAP Graduate program. They will put you in the ABAP stream and help you learn that way. You don't need to be certified to get a job in SAP.
Currently I am working on sap abap support project as a fresher so in future can I go to development side
Sounds like a good plan!
Hey, I wanted to ask if it’s still worth getting into SAP since many people I’ve talked to are saying that it’s dying down. Also, will a career as SAP consultant be a good long term plan? Great videos btw :)
Hey! Don't worry I've seen your comment and I will look at answering this question with a vlog this week :). Thank you so much for your support!
@@myhitlife Thank you for replying and I can't wait
@@jagmeetcheema5956 no thank you for supporting! I will message you when it's up :)
Vlog coming this Saturday :)
Who is responsible for writing technical specifications? Does abap developer write it down?
Yeah the developers / tech team will.
I am an undergraduate degree holder from India and I was trained by my company in SAP ABAP and HANA as a fresher last year. Currently I am also learning SAPUI5, Fiori and started working on OData and UI5 as a beginner... I find the full stack development of SAP interesting but I want to know how are the job opportunities for these skills in USA and Canada? When I search jobs on LinkedIn by filtering location I get quite few results, hence wanted to hear from you... Do you think a career in Full Stack Development with frameworks like React or so would be more rewarding?
PS. I plan to move to Canada/USA in future, also please mention you are based in which country?
Hi, I am UK based so unfortunately I don't know. But UI5 and FIORI will be massively beneficial anywhere where SAP is, because all S/4 HANA projects have a FIORI interface. Maybe in the USA and Canada they call the developers different names. Perhaps try talking to some recruiters and see what they think. I hope this helps and sorry I can't help more
@@myhitlife Okay, thanks for the reply 👍
Hi mam
I am civil engineer 2019 batch
I am worked two years in construction field. Finally I quite my job
I am learn sap ABAP so please some information how to prepare
Hi, I would recommend doing a SAP ABAP course. With coding its harder to learn so defo invest in a course.
Is ABAP dying soon...can you please tell us regarding that and also do we need to upgrade ourselves to ABAP on Hana...as most of the companies are moving to cloud platform... Please suggest miss. 👍
Hey, there's still ABAP in cloud, but its limited. Its focusing on standard ABAP code instead of customisation. I would recommend learning Java script as well. As cloud uses java script a lot too
Do you meant Revtrac for the transports
Apologies I haven't rewatched the video as it's 10 mins long and I hate hearing my own voice. But yes when transports are moved from one client to another it can be via a RevTrac. I hope this answers your q. During my career I've seen the transfer of transports from clients varied. I think it all depends on where you work and the procedures there. As some transports require you to attach UT, FUT and even ST as well as Functional Spec & Technical Spec. And some may just require approvals.
Can anyone pls tell me how the carrier growth in sap abap developer coz I've joined a s fresher in an organization as abap developer and is this gonna the demanding job in next 5 years and package also?
It goes graduate, consultant, lead & then you could look into project management. To look at salaries you can always have a Google. www.glassdoor.co.uk/Salaries/sap-abap-developer-salary-SRCH_KO0,18.htm
You can hop from company to company after 3 years to get a pay rise as well.
What is SAP graduate program? Do you have any link for it??
Google it
There’s sap Vlogs in my playlist too where I’ve explained it
Where to start as an abap developer?
Graduate program
me to have the same QN
No sure what this means apologies. Could you expand?
Hey..,, Iam gonna work sap abap.. so can u please tell me the opportunities and experience that is needed to find job in UK
Im interested in moving to UK or other parts of Europe can u help me out
So what are the requirements and how can we find job in UK with 2years of experience
You could apply for SAP graduate programs abroad. Or email out recruiters with what they would need. In general for ABAP developers being SAP certified in ABAP really helps.
@@myhitlife does 2years of work experience in sap abap can help in landing a job in UK?
@@glamzchows76 I would reach out to the recruiters and ask them. It could vary between companies
Yeah okay.. thanks for your concern please make video on this topic.. your videos are helpful..keep rocking
What is the future of sap abap
Is it going to die in future
Hey homie sorry about the delay. I was never a developer myself. I did notice that on clouds project ABAP is limited. On premise is where ABAP developers is more needed. I would recommend learning java as well as that's the language for FIORI. Checking the SAP road map for it. And asking your seniors their view
write 'i m also an ABAP developer.' :p can i get a reply
