Don’t love my current job, not passionate about it, but it pays good and great benefits. Grass not always greener in the other side
This is exactly how I feel and I don’t know what to do. It’s like, be careful what you wish for. I actually loved the company but I was burnout and didn’t knew how to talked it through, I thought leaving would be the answer but it was a mistake, even though I earn a little more and it’s not stressful, but I also think it was a huge step back on my career.
The grass isn't always greener. I was extremely frustrated in my job. Felt like I was doing more work for less pay. All the usual hang ups you get after working in a place for so long. But I really enjoyed some aspects of the job. I loved the majority of people and the job itself was easy. We had a lot of fun. I had a massive depressive episode and tried to end my life. Took all of my antidepressants in one go. Woke up in the hospital and carried on. Went back to work and didn't tell a soul. I'd made the decision to leave my job for another all within a month of my overdose. I look back and don't recognise my decisions and thought process at the time. I should never have been making decisions of changing jobs in that sort of mind set. But I didn't tell anyone what was going on with me. How I was feeling. That was a huge mistake. The week of leaving my old job I was also stricken by a major health crisis in the family. Now all I long for is my old job back. I feel like I've ruined everything in my life and spiralled into an even deeper depression than before. I have to try to remain strong for my family member but its tough.

I realized I had some medical/mental issues to work through, so I boomeranged back to a former job after a couple short stints that didn't work out. I don't really like the job but I did enjoy the people and I figured it'd be good to have a known quantity while I work through things. I was gone not quite a year.
Edit: the short stints made me realize I didn't know what I wanted from my next job. The hope was working through my issues would have me feel better about the job I went back to or help make it clear what I wanted to move onto.
When both options suck, it's time to find more options
I left my old job two months ago and regret leaving because I hate the work and there cutting hours drastically but luckily I have a new job offer with more money and guarantee full time hours

I left my last career for another and have no regrets at all.
In science (in industry, not academia) everyone recommends boomerang-ing around. Thats the best way to get a higher pay and promotions and all the companies are in close proximity of each other
Yeah something like this practice can really vary by industry. Boomeranging is super common in sales positions especially in the auto industry. Jumping jobs in auto sales is the normal but in other things definitely not common. I’ve done it once and I feel like it’s difficult once you’ve shown you’ll leave because they’ll always wonder if you’re truly going to be there or if you’ll bounce when you think another place is better again.
Idk what Ken has against people knowing their co workers salaries. People need to know if they are being paid the market value and at times need motivation to make the leap and forward their career.
Well his boss openly speaks against it so can’t be too surprising

I guarantee you if she goes back to her old job, she will never be considered for a promotion ever again. “Oh are you gonna leave again if you don’t get this opportunity?”
Well what comes to her benefit is that it isn’t the same owners. But I agree it would be a tough hurdle. When you’ve shown you’re willing to leave it’s hard to mend that fence because they never feel comfortable that you’re truly there for the long term.
I love my current job, but the hours are too much for and I'm new. It's cutting into other goals that I have for my life.
Retail is not a field I would recommend that anyone stay in for a career unless you want to be GM or a franchise owner someday. It’s just statistically a field that people feel very unhappy in. Aim higher, go find what you LOVE. Retail is so bland. You can do better! That’s a job not a career.

Retail is just draining. I haven’t worked a customer facing position for six years now and it’s great. Dealing with unreasonable people all day whether customers or colleagues is just a grind
I want my Job back!! I was convinced by coworkers to take early retirement with them... No,NO NO.!!!! I REGRET IMMEDIATELY.!! I can't live without it. It was everything to me. Why/how can I fall for it. I lost interest in all my hobbies and activities. I ruminate my mistake, and blame myself with anger. I now have stress, anxiety, insomnia, and severe depression. I hate life, and living. My mental and physical health are declining. I called 988. I just can't forgive myself,.. and cannot return to my job/life.
I need some more money at my job but the flexibility I have is unbelievable so doubt I can walk away from it ima have to pick up something else lol 😂

Well the challenge is she feels a bit inconsistent here. She started there as a GM and felt like it was too much work to continue to maintain and voluntarily stepped down her role. And then tried to get promoted to another position. But she speaks about how things are small so she was being told she didn’t get the role now but because they were growing she’d get one in the future. But it would also be a challenge here because she was in a higher role and chose to step down her position but now wants to be promoted to what one would imagine is a higher level role over the job she just stepped away from. And if she told them it was too much work or needed a break from that how do you decide to give him more responsibility if you’ve heard those things? Hard to satisfy someone who seems to be chasing money and positions
