The more I see responses from Minthara the more she seems as the most adult, most grounded, down to earth attitude and with the driest sense of humour of all companions. Very motherly sort of. Evil beyond redemption but still with the least psychological baggage. Weirdly attractive.

But but but... if at that moment my soul is owned by Raphael anyway, who is he stealing from? His boss?! That sounds like a career (and existence) ending move - for Haarlep.
Rafael's father sent him, (haarlep says it if you kill him and talk to his corpse), I'm not sure if he's spying or he really wants to get out of there. Everything he does goes against the interests of his "master", so it seems that he must not be very happy to be on the side of the loser Raphael. I feel like he barely saw the opportunity to leave Raphael, he did and before he left he trolled him giving us information and gossip. I even find it curious that he highlights that he will only answer one question, but if we waste the question he gives us the answer anyway.
I think the companion you romanced should have a line or a scene for your tav if you actually slept with haarlep, feels strange that they're relatively ok with it consider you just slept with a succubus in front of the whole party

If you want to avoid cheating on your romance partner AND killing Haarlep you can just get a companion to talk to them and do their "game" instead, I talked to them as Shadowheart and it worked.
Odd that any of the characters who would dump Tav for sleeping with Mizora, Halsin or the Drow Twins would be okay with Tav sleeping with Harleep under any circumstances (the threat to Tav's life if they don't do as Harleep says isn't a good excuse, either - as the party has faced off with bigger threats than am Incubus so could easily take him out if it came down to it).
I agree the logic there is not exactly sound. I think they actually did specifically to give people persuing these romances a "free pass" to have at least one 'steamy one-time thing encounter' without being dumped afterwards...
@@BG3PlayertwoWhich really doesn't make sense because what makes this one experience different from all the others (other than the fact Tav now has an audience to watch - which makes it all the more messed up). Legit, the only one that makes sense out of these reactions is Astarion's.
Hmm. I don't know. It is a very, very coercive situation, so I think companion reactions should definitely be more empathetic than the other situations like with the Drow twins or Mizora, where Tav has the complete ability to consent and opt in to the experience (as in, there are no consequences to saying 'no' to the offered sex and their lives are not at stake at all in considering that proposition). Haarlep is a different can of worms, as Tav does not have the complete ability to consent. Sure, Tav has fought other bigger bads in the past, so they shouldn't be averse to conflict, but the context in this specific scenario is different. The party is infiltrating the House of Hope, in Hell. It's a tense situation, they want to get out without Raphael noticing. He is a powerful cambion! Tav can see how cruel Raphael is with the souls remaining in his House, and even Hope herself, which probably has them rattled. They might not even have found out about the regeneration pool in the room either. With all of this in mind, it does make sense that certain Tavs (depending on how into the character-designing aspect you are) would be more swayed to try to avoid a fight than in an average hostile encounter. It would be different if Tav out of nowhere suggested sleeping with Haarlep (it could still be a coercive situation, but it would be Tav more actively offering themselves). But instead Tav is forced into a choice from a hostile character, with two shitty results. When the options are "sleep with incubus in front of entire party" or "have to fight said incubus, risk their cover being blown, and severe injury, death or other consequences to themselves and the party" is not a fully consensual decision, no matter how you shake it down; it is a decision Tav is being forced to make. They are under duress. To sleep with an incubus after being threatened and coerced into it in a stressful mission doesn't feel like a situation where romanced companions should demand a breakup. I DO think the follow-ups to this scene should be much more properly fleshed out though. Astarion's scene when you're back in the city is somewhat sufficient, as he reacts with compassion about the loss of bodily control over oneself and we can see the lasting consequences of Tav's decision. But there should also be specific scenes for romanced partners. Like the companions should be checking in with their partner after this occurs. I feel this check in should be about the trauma of the situation, and maybe a deeper discussion into the reckless thought process that led Tav to say 'yes' to Haarlep and "take one for the team". If a companion leads with "you cheated on me" it would be a big red flag to me. It seems more natural a romanced companion would be upset about the danger Tav put themselves in, the situation Tav is now facing, and any newly gained trauma, that would make sense. But since it's coercion, it's not a consensual scenario and thus Tav didn't 'cheat' imo. (sorry this comment is so long, it's rambly and idk if it makes complete sense, I've thought about this a lot obviously lol I'm really conflicted on it).
@@caitlinb35They all had been in similar/worse situations at various points prior to this moment, though. (having an audience with Vlaakith and Shar being prime examples). Haarleep is nothing compared to a literal Goddess and an undead Lich Queen (and the battle with him proves he's an utter wimp).
@caitlinb35 i think the issue for me is that aside from Astarion, they dont sound like people watching their partner with someone coersive, they sound more like friends uncomfortably watching their friend being seduced and warning that there will be consequences for going for it. A lot of these feel like they should be for non-romanced, just bc they don't really feel like they factor in the romance--especially the monogamous characters, Halsin and Shadowheart are fine, and Astarion reacts the way I'd expect too. It'd make more sense to me if they were more firmly against it but didn't hold it against Tav in the aftermath due to circumstance.
