  • Join me as I attend my very first Powwow, coordinated by First Voices Atlanta! I was invited by Latrice Monét, the CEO of The Original Cowboy Club, to experience an unforgettable celebration of indigenous culture.
From witnessing traditional songs, dances, and storytelling to exploring the stunning art, history, and food, this event was truly enriching. I even tried fry bread, a staple of Native American cuisine that carries both cultural significance and a complex history tied to survival and resilience.
I also purchased some beautiful art and unique currency to add to my collection and had the opportunity to create my own medicine bag. Medicine bags are sacred pouches used by many indigenous cultures to carry personal, spiritual, or healing items.
As someone with Indigenous ancestry, it was heartwarming to connect with the culture, learn more, and share in the fellowship of the community.

Yes, I agree it was an beautiful experience. I loved engulfing in the Indigenous Native Culture. My Ancestors are Choctaw. I felt like I belonged there. I’m looking forward to attending again.🙌🏾
