I think like the first three spongebob movies were good the fourth was alright I don't like aniatimation style it's inconsistent with that of sponge on the run and like the first 10 years of spongebob were peak but the 2010s of spongebob will always have a special place in my heart cuz that's what I grew up with
I think my number one favorite wholesome squidward moment is when he thought SpongeBob was gonna blow up in the pie episode, and out of guilt, heartbreak, and care, he did everything on spongebobs “bucket list” before sunset

To be ENTIRELY fair, I don’t think Sandy really stopped being a smart character. (Ignoring the shitty movie)
She does become more naive and foolish (though she did semi-have those qualities already back then) but overall she’s one of the more lesser affected characters of flanderization. I feel like there’s better characters that have gotten worse to talk about besides Sandy.
There were moments when I wished Squidward had a spin-off show instead of The Patrick Star Show.

Fun fact, squidward was one of the 2 main characters of the first (and to my knowledge only) episode of the main show to not feature SpongeBob in it in any way shape or form.

Honestly, while Band Geeks is a great episode, it isn't much of a character growth for Squidward, moreso then just him getting a well-deserved "sweet victory." Christmas Who is actually a much better character analysis for Squidward's character, showing how cynical he is but once he realizes he goes too far or was wrong and hurt someone he goes out of his way to help them even at great expense to himself.
I feel like that Sandy should be next on your chopping block, man. After rewatching the movie after seeing the leak, no joke, I actually compared Sandy to Jar Jar Binks. And the comparison is much more complex, for you see, as I said in my review of the movie on my Instagram, if Jar Jar was never given a position of power, then the Emperor wouldn’t have made his clone army, all of what Obi Wan, Anakin, and Yoda fought for wouldn’t have been wasted, and everything wouldn’t have gone to crap, and if Sandy had never communicated with her past self to go to Kamp Koral and rip a hole in the timeline and space time continuum, then Sue Nahmee wouldn’t have usurped B.O.O.T.S. and commenced Operation: Sea Pals, Bikini Bottom wouldn’t have been put into danger, and everything wouldn’t have gone to fish paste. Basically, I wouldn’t mind a Sandy video next.
Update 9/7/2024: Given how Sandy is portrayed in The Tidal Zone as a villainous robot named Sandroid in “Welcome To Binary Bottom”, after watching some episodes of the SpongeBob The Tidal Zone anthology series, I immediately had an epiphany about what title you could go for. Since you already have a How To Ruin (SpongeBob), How To Waste (Patrick), and How To Break (Squidward), how about “How To DESTROY A Character (Sandy)”, and when I mean “destroy”, I meant metaphorically. Not only that, but when watching the season 14 episode about Plankton going into the future, Kamp Koral Sandy being there basically painted this pretty blatant metaphor about Sandy as a character, since Sandy focused SO MUCH on communicating with her past self that it altered the timeline and made continuity in the franchise pointless, she basically DESTROYED her future, Bowler Hat Guy style.

If I'm being completely honest, I think continuing SpongeBob would have worked if the later seasons actually still has SpongeBob as the Manager and inspire kids to be who SpongeBob is while going through deeper storylines between SpongeBob and Plankton.
spongebob and Squidwards dynamic used to be adult that's childish and adult that's mature so basically old Squidward finds spongebob annoying but still cares about him and now its just a actual baby and a depressed guy so basically new spongebob is an actual baby thats stupid and annoys everyone and new squidward gets harassed and wants SpongeBob dead like huh??
I can't imagine how bad the show will be in 20 years if it keeps going the same way 💀💀💀

recently the up coming plankton movie was leaked I haven’t seen it myself but I’ve heard it’s actually really good if not great, though it’s probably just by luck I like to imagine the writers themselves were also very disappointed about how the sandy movie turned out and knew that they could not make the same mistake again.
now yes it is possible this could just be a one time thing and spongebob will simply go back to it’s modern ways right after but hay best to remain optimistic right?
To be fair, Modern SpongeBob does send out decent episodes every now and then. It’s not entirely awful. And funnily enough, some of the episodes I actually like for that era involve mostly Plankton. Either it’d be Plankton and SpongeBob trying to cure Karen from a virus, Plankton handling Spot, or even that one episode where he became an actual father (actually in hindsight idk if I like that one very much. The ending is pretty wholesome though.)

At first a character we didn’t care but episodes like band geeks give us a reason to like and to see him happy which nowadays seems like it’s not going to happen with the all episodes in modern sponebob that just have him as a walking punching bag.

The Squidward torture episodes make me so angry, so for me it's one of the worst things that has ever happened in the animated universe. I'll give a few examples: Patrick and Spongebob literally break into Squidward's house, Spongebob is supposed to treat Squidward's nose even though he says clearly that he doesn't want to, He wants to film a show in his house and everyone breaks in again and is annoying him, without him being able to do anything about it...
AND WE SHOULD STILL SYMPATIZED WITH SPONGEBOB AND PATRICK? So sorry, but there's absolutely nothing funny about them doing illegal things to annoy Squidward, whatever idiot came up with it. And that was just what came to mind, there's a lot more.

There are some episodes around seasons 5 and 9, that i like to call "SpongeBob torture episodes", where is centered around torturing SpongeBob, and what annoys me, is that in those episodes, SpongeBob did absolutely nothing wrong, episodes like "model sponge", "little yellow book", "whatever happened to spongebob", "gone", "the splinter", "spongebob you're fired".
I'm saying this because Squidward is easily the worst character in all of these episodes (except for in the splitter, patrick takes his place), again, i get why squidward doesn't like spongebob in a lot of episodes, but him taking his anger in spongebob in episodes where spongebob did nothing wrong is just frustranding.
I understand where squidward is coming from, but jesus christ, would it kill you to be a jerk in an episode where spongebob actually did something to you.
