No one could be a better Scar than the original Jeremy Irons. His voice is blood curdling! & He said he was interested and the studio never approached him…Unforgivable.
I have to agree. I understand why they wanted to use POC actors for the roles, because representations is important. But Jeremy Irons' voice is part of how scar was so menacing in the animation. The other part was how Jeremy Irons played the menace so subtly. This Scar is so obvious that even Billy is saying moments into meeting him that you can't trust him. (6:45) They really messed up when they rewrote Scar's lines.
The part where Simba's roar "started" the stampede isn't meant to make sense. The whole plan was that Simba _believes_ he started the stampede himself so that Scar wouldn't be suspected, but it was actually the hyenas who made the wildebeest run
It’s like Billy literally didn’t see the hyenas scare the wilderbeasts heard. It’s like he didn’t see how Scar signaled the hyenas to attack. It’s amazing what details you can miss in a movie if you don’t shut up and watch.

Narnia did better on making a lion talk and look natural pretty good for 2000s. I too liked the nature film vibe and aside for the weird mouth moving I am glad it wasn’t too cartoony.
I liked this version too, but I didn't have THAT much nostalgia with the original either, seeing that The Lion King 2: Simba's Pride was always my favorite. It was my favorite song from the original and I was pretty sad that they basically cut the song apart from a few lines. But it was definitely better than most people make it out to be. I love the original lion king!!!! I saw it twice in theaters when it came out!!! I was so excited when this came out. I saw the live action in theaters as well when it came out and I liked it when it at first but when it got to the scene with Mufasa and simba under the stars I was disappointed. There was no emotion from the person playing simba. I know it was probably a child playing simba, but the cartoon had so much more emotion at the same scene. I felt it a lot more in the cartoon.

Here's a list of things they changed: Rafiki now looks like he's supposed to, in that he no longer has a tail. Instead of using the same fruit from the ceremony as a snack, now the ceremonial dab uses red roots. This change was cause the fruit from Rafiki's tree doesn't actually look like it did in the cartoon, nor does it contain red juice. They fixed Rafiki's ambidexterity, in that now he's consistently right handed. Be prepared was all but scrapped because most of it was used to ridicule the hyenas into joining him, when in reality, hyenas are actually extremely intelligent. Now the song is more of a war chant. When Timon discovers Simba, instead of lifting a paw, which would've been impossible for Timon's size and strength, now he just checks the teeth. Animals such as the gopher, giant anteaters and swinging monkeys are no longer there because they aren't native to that part of Africa. The leaf carrying ants were kept to keep the circle of life number exactly as is, and because they later help Rafiki discover Simba is alive. The elephant graveyard was completely redone because the skulls shown in the cartoon actually aren't anatomically correct. Now there's just a bunch of bones lying around a cave. Lions are no longer purring. Instead of getting stuck under a tree root, now Pumbaa just slips and falls.
All of these things are forgivable / acceptable, but Be Prepared is literally one of the most iconic villain songs and they completely ruined it. If they could keep the ants to keep the circle of life in check, they surely could have kept Be Prepared. It was more than just mere ridicule, it was Scar's want song... his prizes, his decades of denial. It shows him galvanizing the hyenas into an organized army. Yes hyenas are smart, but his role of being able to enter the Prideland without conflict (at that point) was vital to the plan to destabilize the pride by suddenly toppling the king and sending the heir to an apparent death. He appeals to the (non-insipid) hyenas promising food and space. It establishes him as a fascist overlord. The gutting of this song was in no way a fix at all. Like Mufasa, I'm dying on this hill.

7:07 It's crazy to hear that's your ex-wife's name when talking about her naming her dog after TLK. This is because I named my late dog after Nala, but I was a little girl, and I couldn't pronounce Nala correctly. So, instead of Nala, my dog's name became Lila. 27:22 Nala's mother's name is Sarafina. Sarabi is Simba's mother. Fun Fact: originally, in a deleted scene from the animated version, Scar wanted Nala to be his queen and not Sarabi.
Fun fact: Nala and Simba are probably half siblings because lions aren't monogamous and the alpha only allows his cubs to live so if another alpha takes over the pride he sets them up on the stairway to heaven.
@@yc0995 Alpha? Lol. They aren't wolves. Jokes aside, TLK isn't following realism because Scar would also be just as much the king as Mufasa is and *all* kings mate with and share every lioness in the pride. So, if realism was followed, Nala's mother would be both the sister of the kings and their "wife". So, that would mean Nala could be Scar's, which a lot people believe. In any case, Nala's father was mentioned in The Lion Guard, and while never was given a name, was neither Scar or Mufasa.
@@yc0995 Lol. They are called kings, and yes, I agree that The Lion Guard was weird. That show wasn't to my taste, but then again, it was on Disney Junior.
@@meganlodon omg it's true I totally forgot that. But since Scar was always an outcast and we only saw one adult male lion in the lion king I always went with the theory that Simba and Nala were siblings but I'm glad at least the lion guard cleared that out, poor Disney employees that fell through the rabbit hole on the internet to find that though
I think one of the greatest sins of this version of the movie is: Shadowland. It is an amazing song that Nala sings in the stage version. Easily one of my favorites. And this movie had Beyonce... and didn't add "Shadowland" to the movie???? Holy-Missed-Opportunity-Batman. It's such an amazing emotional song for Nala and with Queen Bey's powerful voice... that could have been absolute gold. I will forever mourn that oversight/mistake/choice. If you don't know the song Shadowland, Disney has it on UA-cam. Look it up. It is... so good.
I was disappointed by that too (among everything else in this movie) ESPECIALLY since this movie actually made an effort to show Nala in the Shadowlands like WHY NOT. But seeing as how they didnt add "Morning report" or "Timons hula" its not surprisong
So never seen this version of the movie. But I’m happy they got James earl jones back for Mufasa. He’s the only one I could ever see for Mufasa. And just like the cartoon version I cried at the Mufasa death scene.
@@observantwonderer7401 you have to consider that’s he’s in his 90’s now. He still did a fantastic job with the role no matter how old he may be or how different this remake is compared to the original
Usually cats of any kind including big cats have blue eyes when they're babies. Their eyes start to fade from a blue into a green, brown, orange, etc as they get older.
Saw this in theaters, was kind of sad that the original kid Simba from the original movie didn't come back and voice the adult Simba. Cuz that would have been awesome
i highly suggest listening to the lion king broadway soundtrack! i memorized it when I was about ten (bc of the quarantine), and it's probably one of disney's best tracks. the new songs they added for the stage musical are amazing, and add a lot to the story!
Fun fact, the director of this film Jon Favreau is the guy who plays "Happy" in Iron Man. Tony Stark's driver and best friend. love your reactions Billy btw always hilarious and entertaining🙌 thank you.
Within a pride there is only suppose to be 1 male lion; Scar should have left the pride once he became an adult but Mufasa took him in and cared for him
Not necessarily. If multiple male siblings get kicked out of their pride at once, they will often travel together until they find another pride to take over. Once they defeat any males originally in the new pride, they usually begin to rule together. So there can actually be 2-3 males ruling one pride. I think they only ever push their siblings out if they become weak. Since Mufasa and Scar are brothers, they most likely would have chased off the previous leader/leaders before claiming the pride as their own. If the movie was based on actual lion behaviors, that is.
17:53 it wasn't. Scar had the hyenas spook them into starting one right after hearing Simbas roar as the signal. The plan was to lure Mufasa there so he could die in the stampede rescuing Simba.
32:20 I put that more on Beyonce - it's a duet, an obvious duet, a FAMOUS duet, and she's singing the song like it's a solo. You have to consider your partner when singing together so you're harmonious and not one overpowering the other. She just oversang it imo Where she could've gone big and bad was in "Shadowland". It's absence for "Spirit" is like the second biggest offence I give this film (first being too close to the original). Shadowland is WHY you get Beyonce. Not for her acting, not because you "need" her; because the song was made for someone with vocals like hers and she would've done phenomenal things to it. And I'm sorry I don't think Spirit was at all a better substitute. Such a waste of getting Beyonce =_=
Honestly everyone knows Beyoncé ‘s voice overtakes everything she does. The only person who I’ve ever seen match her energy when performing together os Bruno Mars. She just can’t help it. They should have met her sing Spirit and gotten someone else to voice act for Nala
If Mariah and Whitney could find balance with THEIR voices for the Prince of Egypt, Bey could've figured this one out LoL 🤷🏾♀️ My feelings about Spirit are already known 😩😆 but I honestly don't hate Bey as Nala - her tone and brief twangs of an accent are rich on the ears. If she worked at honing her acting skills, she'd be a great VA
I've said it before, but I'm glad they didn't include Shadowland. Beyoncé would have nailed it vocally, but it would have looked wrong coming out of a CGI lioness.
I genuinely thought the movie was a fun watch. Not that great, but fine. One of my favorite scenes though, where Simba runs to take back his kingdom with the African chanting/vocals and running montage...Instead of playing the original song with a bit of a remaster they completely ruined it by putting that stupid beyonce song.

The Lion King, The Lion King: Simba's Pride, The King King: Hakuna Matata and live The Lion King. I love all them including The Lion Guard when you see Kiara's brother Kion.
I love both the original animated 1994 film and the 2019 remake. But I prefer the 2019 remake because one, it’s more visually stunning than the original one. Two, certain songs sound better than the original like, “Circle of Life”, “I Just Can’t Wait To Be King” & “Can You Feel The Love Tonight”. Three, the cast is predominantly black, which makes sense considering it’s set in Africa. Four, the Mufasa’s ghost scene was so emotional I cried one time. Five, we get to see the lions eat what they naturally prey on.
Great commentary reaction!!! I missed the premiere last night. But watching this video with a cold glass of water is a great way to start off my morning. Fun Fact: According to director Jon Favreau, the opening shot of the African sunrise was the only 'real' shot of the movie. The rest was CGI. I'm probably one of few that likes this one. Not as great as the original animated movie, but I still enjoy it. I'm so glad that they were able to get James Earl Jones back for the voice of Mufasa. And as much as I love Chiwetel Ejiofor, I wish that they were able to get Jeremy Irons back as the voice for Scar. His voice was so iconic. No matter which version of this movie I watch, I'm always singing along with all the songs. Still very highly recommending the 2007 movie "Stardust" and the original "Star Wars" trilogy. #Bingers
When I watched the remake i actually loved it. It’s like watching a BBC Earth documentary but the animals are talking. Without David Attenborough (did i spell it right? 😂)
I’m in that category of people who didn’t straight up hate this movie. I knew what I was getting into, and I’m just shocked so many hate this remake with a burning passion. I thought it was fine. The CGI was on point because everything looks real. I think the problem is everything looks real. Real animals don’t have facial expressions.
We love you, Billy. You are very handsome. And is your shirt intentional or unintentionally ironic, considering this is the WORST of the live action Disney remakes that is failing to emulate or honor what many (myself included) consider to be one of Disney's best animated films to date. It definitely DISHONORED the REAL Lion King. And you would be proud of me because I AM drinkig my water. I have a bottle of Fiji water laying here next to me as I watch your reaction.
regarding the stampede part, the hyenas were the ones to start it, but the roaring made simba think he was at fault feeling responsible for mufasas death therefore, making him run away
Okay, might get hate, but imma do a Billy here and say it anyways lmao. This live action was not really it, the only thing that saved it was the music and nostalgia. This was a super fun reaction though and I agree with you on the Hercules thing at the end there. Call my girl Jennifer Hudson!!
17:44 The hyenas were up with the wilderbeasts and on Scar's signal, They started to chase the wilderbeasts and they came stampeding down the ravine... I wonder which movie showed that in? 1 1/2? Either way, it makes sense, since we just learned about them teaming up
As a writer who focuses on the datker parts of the mind with believable characters and motivations, I love how they fleshed out Scar in this movie. They made him much more believable and because of that, made him scarier. The best characters to write are villains who have nothing to lose and are wanting to take back what they felt was stolen from them, and that's how they wrote Scar in this movie. Also, "Be Prepared" is much more chilling in this version than the original, this time truly showcasing the sinister intentions by using a sinister production instead of an upbeat production like the original. Both versions of the movie are amazing, but due to the darker and more realistic characters and better tone management, I prefer this version.
As much as I love the song I Just Can't Wait To Be King, there are a few major and minor gripes I have with this version of my favorite Disney movie. James Earl Jones sounded his age playing Mufasa again I hate the drastic change to my favorite villain song Be Prepared. I wish the music "King Of Pride Rock" was more in sync with Simba climbing Pride Rock
this is one of the movies i will never forgive disney for remaking. timons voice just doesn't fit whatsoever and neither does scar. it just doesn't have the same edge as the original
28:58 the reason is that in real life there are just one-three male lions in a pride and they have to be related because if they are not the other male lions are gonna see as a threat that’s why when they have male cubs, they usually leave the pride when they’re big enough
My older sister actually had an orange tabby cat she named Simba. That cat would not let you stop petting him 😂 And it's not Lion King but I did name my first cat Duchess from The Aristocats 🥰
Fun fact: Lion cubs are born blind and don't begin to open their eyes until around three to four days old. Their eyes are a blue-grey colour at first and begin to change to an orangey-brown by the age of two to three months.

@@meganlodon You know the main lion, the word escapes me lol. I forgot the Lion guard, that show was weird
I can’t stop laughing at you filming that ad, fake sleeping with nothing but your hat on 😂
😂 ohh you peeped that huh?
@@observantwonderer7401 Exactly!!
So never seen this version of the movie. But I’m happy they got James earl jones back for Mufasa. He’s the only one I could ever see for Mufasa. And just like the cartoon version I cried at the Mufasa death scene.
O didnt like his voice in this version, he just sounds so tired and meh about it
@@observantwonderer7401 you have to consider that’s he’s in his 90’s now.
Jonathan Taylor Thomas? Cause Jason Weaver was the singing voice for Simba while JTT was the speaking voice.
i highly suggest listening to the lion king broadway soundtrack! i memorized it when I was about ten (bc of the quarantine), and it's probably one of disney's best tracks. the new songs they added for the stage musical are amazing, and add a lot to the story!
Fun fact, the director of this film Jon Favreau is the guy who plays "Happy" in Iron Man. Tony Stark's driver and best friend. love your reactions Billy btw always hilarious and entertaining🙌 thank you.
Calling Scar, Uncle Steven. 🤣
And yes, it's Jason Weaver.
1:16 your not ugly billy. 💮you are a very respectable, nice, funny, creative man and we really dig you and your personality. we all support you man.🌸
Within a pride there is only suppose to be 1 male lion; Scar should have left the pride once he became an adult but Mufasa took him in and cared for him
Not necessarily.
She just oversang it imo
Where she could've gone big and bad was in "Shadowland".
If Mariah and Whitney could find balance with THEIR voices for the Prince of Egypt, Bey could've figured this one out LoL 🤷🏾♀️
My feelings about Spirit are already known 😩😆 but I honestly don't hate Bey as Nala - her tone and brief twangs of an accent are rich on the ears. If she worked at honing her acting skills, she'd be a great VA
Totally agree! Why they would cast her for a role that demands a duet, I'll never know.
Not even a minute into this episode and I almost spit out my coffee because Billy is making me crack up I love you Billy please continue doing the greatness that you do
I like that finally we got to hear what pumba wanted to say before he got interrupted
Simba really probably thought that his rowr made that stamped, when really it was the hyenas chasing after them that made the stamped come!
#Bingers: Aladdin, Jumanji, Cars, Cars 2, Cars 3, Puss In Boots, Elvis, Selena The Movie, Jack and Jill, Bruce Almighty, Disney Pixar Lightyear, Toy Story 3, Toy Story 4, Beetlejuice, Rango, Cruella, Edwards Scissorshands, Devil and Annabelle Creation and Cruella and Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure
In the original Simba didn't start the stampead, the hyeina's did. Simba's roar was a single to the hyeina's to start.
the way mushu is staring into my soul makes me want that shirt. billy, where did u GET IT
I can’t believe this movie actually plays , “can you feel the love tonight…”, operative word “tonight” when the sun is still out. 😂
The fact that Billy is calling Scar Steven is not surprising to me. Scar is such an easy name to remember
Fun fact… lions don’t roar like that. When they open their mouth like that it’s more of a yawning.
So Billy wants us to believe he adopted his daughter I guess 💀
Billy you haveee to watch Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron, it's one of the best animated movies to exist.
I have a bottle of Fiji water laying here next to me as I watch your reaction.
regarding the stampede part, the hyenas were the ones to start it, but the roaring made simba think he was at fault feeling responsible for mufasas death
therefore, making him run away
Okay, might get hate, but imma do a Billy here and say it anyways lmao. This live action was not really it, the only thing that saved it was the music and nostalgia. This was a super fun reaction though and I agree with you on the Hercules thing at the end there. Call my girl Jennifer Hudson!!
Oh Jennifer would be great as one of the muses.
The music didn't save it for me, just the nostalgia. That's probably why I've only seen it once.
It was actually the hyenas to start the stampede by chasing them off not because of simbas roar
17:44 The hyenas were up with the wilderbeasts and on Scar's signal, They started to chase the wilderbeasts and they came stampeding down the ravine... I wonder which movie showed that in? 1 1/2? Either way, it makes sense, since we just learned about them teaming up
His name is scar and it was the echo that made the stampede in the gorge
It makes sense that Nala would win a play fight with Simba. Lionesses are the providers of the pride
Yeah but males lions are stronger
My fav song in this movie is definitely I Just Can't Wait To Be King, but I also like Can You Feel The Love Tonight and Hakuna Matata
Bully does that thing where he just assigns people names because learning their actual names is hard
That Mushu shirt got me rolling!🤣🤣
Ever time Billy call Stevie instead of scar 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Heyy I absolutely love ur channel like ur kinda of like a family member that’s how much I live ur channel ❤
unfortunately i lost my mother so its been really rough on us, so thank u for ur opening message and i love ur reactions
I finally know wtf Gaslighting really means, I've been trying to find examples of it for years. 20:51
The line uncle Stephen needs to save up on car entrance is so hilarious😂😂😂
"Burn in hell you demons" 🤣🤣🤣 The way he said that!
Is it just me or Lion King and MCU Black Panther is kinda similar? I'm loving it
Beyoncé has a distinctive speaking voice. It did not fit this role.
Side note: LOVE the new spelling bee segment animation
As much as I love the song I Just Can't Wait To Be King, there are a few major and minor gripes I have with this version of my favorite Disney movie.
James Earl Jones sounded his age playing Mufasa again
I hate the drastic change to my favorite villain song Be Prepared.
I wish the music "King Of Pride Rock" was more in sync with Simba climbing Pride Rock
My cousin and his ex named their oldest daughter Nala. She's all grown up and in the military now alongside her husband.
Can’t have a bunch of male lions in one pride
Lots of animals have blue eyes when they're born. Also the stampede was caused by the hyenas not the roar
Billy I cannot wait for you to react to The Little Mermaid with Halle Bailey that comes out May 26 🧜🏽♀️
0:55 the song is basically saying here comes the lion(king), and the choir sings about praising the lion(kind)
#Bingers please react to Lemonade Mouth and The Cheetah Girls sequel. They have Bops. #Bingers
“It gets bigger” Ehh that’s what I had to tell my …..realizes….. never mindx6 lol
It was funny when he said that his name was scar but he would call him Stevan
this is one of the movies i will never forgive disney for remaking. timons voice just doesn't fit whatsoever and neither does scar. it just doesn't have the same edge as the original
Ngl this was just an animal documentary with the lion kings audio over it 💀
Billy, I love the shirt!!
4:47 “ACUBA BABA IMBAMA MAKAKA” Billy u crack me up😭🫶🏾
I love how he talks about being a virgin and having a daughter. And I know people can adopt and foster kids.
#Bingers, please react to Disney's animated lion king🦁👑
Imagine watching this in the second month of the year while Billy talks about the last month of 22
Just a little fun fact. All lions are born with blue eyes. They just change colour as they mature
Seth Rogan and Billy ikner. Lions usually only have a few related males they also don't hunt they protect while the females hunt.
In a pride of Lions it's usually one or two males with a bunch of females so it's actually pretty accurate in that respect
Billy, you should watch spirit stallion of the cimarron! Bingers ❤
Not “THE LYING KING” this killed me 🤣 How dare you forget my name 😶 this is why you’re an EX 😒
My condolences. Good for you though. Taking his hair with you when you left. 🤣🤣
28:58 the reason is that in real life there are just one-three male lions in a pride and they have to be related because if they are not the other male lions are gonna see as a threat that’s why when they have male cubs, they usually leave the pride when they’re big enough
Nala's mom is named Sarafina. Sarafina & Sarabi were best friends
My older sister actually had an orange tabby cat she named Simba. That cat would not let you stop petting him 😂 And it's not Lion King but I did name my first cat Duchess from The Aristocats 🥰
I had no idea you used to be married to Liala 😱
Lion King was actually loosely based on Hamlet 😋
I have ginger fluffy cat I called him simba cos he also likes sitting up high and looking all around from where he is
Fun fact: Lion cubs are born blind and don't begin to open their eyes until around three to four days old. Their eyes are a blue-grey colour at first and begin to change to an orangey-brown by the age of two to three months.
And that’s how the Disney show started 42:47 😂
