I started hunting Lake Superior agates a few months ago, love seeing all different agates from different regions!

I love your videos! I've been hunting agates at Damon Point since 1978. The beach was amazing back then. The rock piles started almost as soon as you hit the beach. It was end to end rock piles. How I miss those days.
Anyhoo, I have a small quibble. I don't want any rookie hunters to be confused by you referring to agates as both
translucent and opaque. Agates are translucent, not opaque. Opaque refers to matter that light cannot pass through.
Basalt is opaque. Tell the rookies to look for translucence!

I love your videos, you actually started me on this, so I went to Ocean Shores in the last 2 weekends and guess what? I found at Damon Beach, beautiful stones and agates, I am fascinated by the beauty of those stones and the view of the Ocean. I had a great time thanks to you, my depression started fading and now I have a hobby. Thank you for showing how to identify the agates. God Bless you. This is pure fun!!!

We went yesterday...gravel beds were all covered in sand! We found 1 small agate, but there had been a lot of people out earlier than we got there... We had fun though

I make a living making beach stone pendants from OS and Wesport by the State Park. The beach stones are beautiful and need only a glue bail for jewelry a chain.
Nice video! Just moved to Oregon and am LOVING agate hunting. Have you found any really large agates there? I recently found one that weighs over a pound on a beach, and am not sure if that's common for this area.
I have friends who enjoy going down to the Yachats, OR area in March every year. There are about four rivers that feed the beaches around Yachats with fresh supplies of agates after every winter. If I had time to explore the Oregon beaches I would go down there. I haven't found any one pounders up here but lots of medium sized ones. I'm sure my day is coming when the big one is found.
I really couldn't believe it when I found it. I normally find ones about the size of yours in the video, sometimes a bit bigger. I've also heard that area is really good. I've driven through there, but never looked for agates there. I've been looking online for different places to "rock hunt," and found out that there's some good mining spots near Cape Lookout where you can find all kinds of precious gems and minerals. There are some really impressive videos of huge agates being pulled from some of the coastal creeks here on UA-cam.. If only I knew where they were!

agates are semi- precious stones that can be transformed into jewelry if properly polished and placed into settings. In their raw state agates of considerable size and color might bring a good prices. Look at the options for sale on easy.com, Just type "agates" or even look on eBay.com to view the prices and options. Some of the larger pieces I have found might be $1.00 to $2.00 per piece.

It's not so much that you "have" to do something with them, it's about the thrill of the hunt...you know, like a treasure hunt!
Rock hounding and agate hunting are not for everybody, my better half could care less but is respectful and encouraging to me so that I enjoy this activity that I love to do!!
Those kind of agates are all over s.d.
