Hi guys, thanks for the informative video me and my 17 year old son tackled this small project and it was on point. Replaced the serpentine belt, idler pulley and the belt tensioner. The tools needed by description was awesome. All i needed to buy was the tension tool, made the job that much easier. No more noise and T&C 2006 Touring running smooth. Saved a lot of money and that's the name of the game. Once again thanks for the post guys !
This was an amazing video! So simple and informative step by step! Thank you for the best help video I have seen. I am a woman and this helps me so much!
I need to replace mine and I was concerned that the idler pulley or tensioner may be worn. Got 160000 miles. Now I know what to look for and inspect. Great video and narration! Thanks.
Good video. I wonder what the life expectancy of the idler pulley mechanism is ?? I have 120,000 miles on my Caravan and replaced have replaced the belts twice. Maybe I overlooked replacing the idler pulley when I should have.
I don't know what the life expectancy of the idler pulley is but with your van having over 100k miles on it I think it would be a good idea to replace it. -Greg
No it's not. We just decided to so we could show you how to do both. It's a good idea to check the pulleys when you have the belt off to make sure they spin freely. Also make sure there is plenty of tensioner on the tensioner. As a loose tensioner will cause your belt to wear out faster.
My 06 squeels really loud and all the time when it's running.. would that be the pulley and tentioner? Or just the belt? I spray the belt every morning with some spray that stops the squeels and it always stops but it starts in again later on
I am looking to replace the Serpentine belt on the same van. A 2006 Town & Country. I am wondering do you have to replace the belt tensioner too? Like you guys did.
I was also thinking of replacing the alternator @120,000 miles, but I don’t think one would have to completely remove the belt but just loosen and disengage only @ the alternator.
Fairly good Video. To much unnecessary details. It's a given that the front wheel has to be removed. So why show that? Remove and replace bolts by hand. Naturally. How else would you do it? Why show all the tools first? Mention them as you get to the part that needs removing.
+TheWilson565 Thank you for your feedback but I respectfully disagree. I know we show too much turning of bolts sometimes but for us it's important to lay out each step. We have no idea of the experience level of those watching our videos. Laying the tools out at the very beginning is crucial so someone doesn't start the job and not realize they don't have all the tools they need. -Greg
I disagree. first time owner of one of these vehicles and I am very mechanically inclined and found this video very helpful! would have never replaced idler pulley or tensioner. sure saves me big $$$ by not taking it into a mechanic.

Don Guptill You are welcome.. If your current idler and tensioner have lasted for 160000 miles that's pretty amazing.

I am looking to replace the Serpentine belt on the same van. A 2006 Town & Country. I am wondering do you have to replace the belt tensioner too? Like you guys did.
I would just to be safe. If the tensioner stops working it will wear out the serpentine really fast.
-Greg
Very good instructional video. Well done guys.
Excellent video!! Thank you very much. :thumbs up:
tscooter22 You are welcome. -Greg
I believe it should be. This vehicle had the 3.8L engine so it may differ slightly if your vehicle has a different size engine.
Thanks
Greg
Awesome video and a great job. I will be changing mine this weekend, thank you for sharing :-)
mrnicoraable You're welcome and good luck..
-Greg
is it necessary to replace belt tension and pulleys every time you change the serpentine belt?
This was perfect! Thanks
I was also thinking of replacing the alternator @120,000 miles, but I don’t think one would have to completely remove the belt but just loosen and disengage only @ the alternator.
You should be able to just loosen the belt and remove it from the Alternator pulley. -Greg
i need the splash gaurd, my van does not have one, does anyone know what i need to buy?
Thank you. Glad we could help.
Greg
Is this same for 2005 t& c touring van
Does this also include a 2010?
Excelente vídeo y buena explicación. ..sólo que me gustaría estuviera en español saludos

Haha I don't remember but I can totally relate. Thanks for the feedback. -Greg
the 3.3 and the 3.8 angine it has the same belt?
I am not sure. You can look it up in a auto repair manual or you asks your local auto parts store. Feel free to share the information with us. -Greg
