We got a new hot tub about a month ago, and rinsed off in the shower before getting in. The water was perfect in every way (tested at pool place). My wife heard about SpaGuard's Spa Complete and ordered some on-line. I added a bit less than per directions, and boom--foam. I've been using the shop vac to get the foam of the surface, cleaning the filter every couple of days with Black Diamond Filter Cleaner, and am slowly getting back to a foamless situation. Yes, the Spa Complete softens the water.....not using that again.
My brother and his wife usually foul my hot tub water. They use fabric softener and soaps in their suits and they use a ton of skin and hair products. Mostly greasy. The water gets these nasty grey bubbles and you can see the yuck floating on the water. even a scumball cant seem to keep up. So, when they come to visit, I partially drain the tub and put in a special set of old filters just for them. after they leave, I drain, clean and refill the tub and put my cleaned filters in.
i have the same problem...i even wash all of the suits in water and vinegar..not the washing machine....the only thing that works is keeping people out of it
If you still get foam after degreasing and cleaning the filter it could be from soft water. Most people don’t routinely check acrylic hot tubs for Calcium Hardness and therefore don’t realize it too low. Adding calcium chloride to get CH 175-200 and the foam will go away
Even worse I know of many hot tub stores that tell clients they do not need any calcium hardness in the water which obviously would cause huge foaming issues.
What kind of degreaser do you soak the filters in

Hot water & Dawn soap - best degreaser! Wash thoroughly after soaking filters👍🏽

Does under ground Penair pump need a vent to prevent high heat and humidity? Location Seattle
All pumps require adequate fresh air flow. You should not put a pump in a sealed / enclosed space.
