Highlights: Procession honors fallen US marshal Thomas Weeks

Large crowds lined the streets to pay their respects to fallen U.S. Marshal Thomas Weeks as a procession escorted his body from Charlotte to Mooresville on Wednesday.
Weeks was escorted from the medical examiner's office in Charlotte to the Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville.
The stretch of Interstate 77 from the I-85 interchange was closed while the procession drove toward Weeks' hometown. The highway was reopened once the procession reached North Carolina 150 in Mooresville around 12:45 p.m.
Weeks was one of four officers killed in the line of duty during a standoff in east Charlotte on Monday. Weeks was assigned to the Western District of North Carolina as part of the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force. Weeks, 48, lived in Mooresville, a northern suburb of Charlotte.
He was a 13-year veteran of the U.S. Marshals Service and spent the last 10 years of his career in Charlotte. He was part of the team executing an arrest warrant for Terry Clark Hughes Jr. when he was shot and killed on Monday. Hughes had a lengthy criminal history with arrests in multiple North Carolina counties.
Weeks served eight years with Customs and Border Protections before joining the U.S. Marshals Service in 2011. Three years after joining the USMS, Weeks was dispatched to its Charlotte office. Weeks leaves behind a wife and four children.
