  • Frank Ramsey was a Cambridge student. Born in 1903, he died of natural causes just before his 27th birthday. In his short life he not only made contributions to mathematics, economics, decision theory, philosophy and logic, but contributions so groundbreaking that his name attaches to them: Ramsey theory in mathematics, Ramsey sentences in logic and philosophy of science, Ramsey savings theory in economics.

He mixed with all of the Cambridge greats of his time: Maynard Keynes, Moore, Russell, Wittgenstein, and the mathematicians G. H. Hardy and John Littlewood.
In this recording of a live online talk, Prof Simon Blackburn of Cambridge University introduces all this and explains something of Ramsey's work, and how important it was.

Thanks for the recommendation of Gwen Raverat's book. Noel Annan's 'Our Age' is really good for this stuff too.

What is the paper called that Simon reads by Ramsey?

"coordinate those signs with bits of the world" 20:33 this is the physics of perception
    all the effects exist
    are nonlocal classes
then the event horizon is ambient
so you have to map out boundary spaces in order to bootstrap space time because from space everything is in one location
but here there seems to be so much confusion: bulls have never seen the color red a
& and all the painters that painted bull fighting were wrong
if you shut down the v2 in the brain you only see in black and white
the physics of perception is not so much preordained but predicted in advance by ones own standards & rules & everything no matter what it is is doing: all it is doing it is doing in order to succeed
and usually we cannot predict anything that we have never seen before or that which is hidden from us
this means that in the quantum world game theory is not game theory because it is a subset of ambient classes that require the nonlocal classes to violate the past with the present
so that the future builds a coordinate system
not only for just bits of the world but the nature of external cognition
or spider cognition or brain as artifact
requiring refrigerators to keep up the rate of entanglement without thermodynamic collapse
and instead a bootstrap far into the future
so that you have to predict yourself to enter the shape of the paradox from the quantum frame
& in the quantum world nothing is real unless you are looking at it & there are no winners or losers
so we are actually coders of error penalty long division in order to sustain a combinatorial manifestation of bits that allow for wave decompression combinatorics to also thrust one even further into the future: what we call, the present.
