Well done Duncan.
I am related to the poet Laureate.. I am not certain exactly how, but I know that I am... It makes me proud and happy. He said things in just such a way that they were really special. There is a place where we shall all meet, a man with a solid vision and direction shall lead us all there. It'll be dogs and food and fire. Maybe some drinks. I am not certain...But it will be good and honest and a reunion of sorts.. We can all be glad in that
QM classicalized in 2010. Forgotten Physics website uncovers the hidden variables and constants and the bad math of Wien, Schrodinger, Heisenberg, Einstein, Debroglie, Planck, Bohr etc. Silly sorry wannabe physicists- including poor Ray. Shameless, clueless hypocrite.
It's interesting how one point of failure in a food web can cause damages so quickly.
Thank you SO very much!! ❤
No energy, charge, photons, waves, spin, fields, potential, quantum, quarks, space, time, space-time, Big Bang etc. ALL Standard Theory/Model was replaced by Expansion Theory in 2002. Stop hiding in the basement- with Winnie the sot- of your ivory tower reading by candlelight and calculating with the abacus. Shameless, clueless wannabe “Copernicus “ of philosophy. McCutcheon replaced Copernicus replaced Ptolemy replaced Plato- Timaeus. McCutcheon replaced Penrose replaced Higgs replaced Wheeler replaced Einstein replaced Mach replaced Newton replaced Archimedes replaced Euclid etc.
Physics-pukka- started in 2002. Ray is WAY behind the times/ reality. Probably too late. All of what he says is immaterial. Start at start. “The Final Theory: Rethinking Our Scientific Legacy “, Mark McCutcheon for proper physics including the CAUSE of gravity, electricity, magnetism, light and well.... everything. While this is a sore spot- to say the least- with Ray ( and countless others) nothing is gained trying to interpret Plato’s ‘shadows.’
Magnificent speech !!
Putin is a far more dangerous leader than Nikita Khrushchev.
If the RSPCA think it so important to recognise that animals feel pain and deserve a great life how do they reconcile this with endorsing farming practices and slaughter methods that inherently cause suffering and end animals lives prematurely?
😊

It was a fantastic exhibition and another similar exhibition would be very much appreciated.
Our long term survival depends upon our primary function which is to be able to breathe. By preserving nature and resources we enable this essential requirement to exist. Without fresh air there will be no nothing. Including us.
had to watch for class but not complaining, really good information here.
A very well presented and informative talk with oodles of interesting facts. With regard to time existing before the initial singularity and the possibility of other universes existing, maybe an astrophysicist, cosmologist and philosopher filmed debate at BRLSI could be on the cards in the future? Incidentally, with regards to dark matter, the Abell 1689 cluster might prove to be of interest.
Human imposition of meaning on existence is hilariously primitive. Learning how is empowering.
Consciousness is the subjective experience that we have from the operation of the brain. Now that we can understand the operation of the brain we can understand consciousness.
I think we are very close to having a full understanding of the nature of reality. Also, I would say that it is a conclusion of the rational approach that it is not possible to prove or disprove the existence of God. We are close to understanding how the brain operates and this suggests a correct choice of language to use. We can talk about developing a worldview which evolves based on new sensory input in all forms. This is very much a rational view which says that responses such as flight or fight to a threat are built into our worldview either from experience or like a “knee jerk” reaction. This viewpoint would reject the idea of intuition or feelings as something separate from our rational brain response.
Don’t rely on the Big Bang description of the end of the universe. The Big Bang theory is on its way out and the new model looks like the universe has an infinite future.
First comment ❤ 😊
There are murex shells native to the Caribbean - these are source of Phoenician wealth and industry. To harvest and process these shells would require a modest year round population of Phoenicians...A small colony of murex harvesters would be well worth the return voyage to pick them up and their bounty. Who knows how long a small murex harvesting colony would be viable? A very long time,, Make a buck- make a big buck with Murex.
Great talk! I just want to point out, re the 1973 famine, that ministers of the time have made it clear that the famine was hidden from HIM, and as soon as He learned of it (due to the Dimbleby documentary) He immediately released personal funds to relieve the suffering, but there is evidence that much of this aid never reached those it was intended for. Remember the revolution was already being planned among military and other disgruntled officers of the realm, encouraged and supported by foreign powers, and, as you pointed out, the famine was the main argument for the cause of revolution.
Also, regarding links between the Ethiopian Orthodox Church and Fairfield House... since this talk, the church has consecrated a prayer room in the house, as well as the "Sacred Garden" created on the site where the greenhouse stood (which was consecrated at the time of His stay at Fairfield but deconsecrated again after the Emperor's return to Ethiopia). The church also holds a number of religious ceremonies here on important days in the Ethiopian Orthodox calendar.
I hear “guardian” and “WEF” and my trust goes out the window frankly.
Thank you for this post. I’m an ardent follower of Wittgenstein and Ramsey. I’m looking forward to reading the book recommendation 😊
What a great presentation. I discovered a few years ago I am incredibly allergic to the sting of a wasp, and this is a fascinating insight into the world of a creature I'm not afraid of but must be very wary of.
I don't hate them or are afraid of them, but wish I knew the best way to deal with them once they come buzzing around you when eating outside!
Thank you, sometimes I find it difficult to read Milton ..And Donne Listening to it being read, is like Having, Stabilizers, when first riding a bicycle Once you get the balance right.. Off you go. 🍷
Tom Holland is a lying little snake and a weasel.
Thank you for uploading this, I love wasps to bits. Only been stung four times, all on one occasion when I accidentality sliced through a nest with a hedge trimmer. I think I sprinted faster than Usain Bolt from the crime scene. I'm one of those people who can naturally stay still but not that day! Also found the information on Saxon Wasps very interesting. Photographed one on figwort last year, Glasgow area in Scotland. Not many recorded instances around here so I feel very privileged. Those antennae are amazing.
Very interesting and applaud of him, for a long period now have been digging ivain. but here he is. His Age known as reconciliation btn religious (faith) conflict against non-believers (Natural stand)
Millions of people leave China every year and millions return. China is not the Soviet Union.
Let's see.......freedom of making any decision without thinking of the consequences has led to what??.........Aging, sickness, cancer, wars, untold human suffering, pollution, inventions of the most ridiculous religions....oh, yes.......let's make all of our decisions without any guidance at all.....
Christopher doesn’t mean Christ carrier. Well, not directly at least. It means bearer of the anointing one.
Fantastic ally read his words a painting 💜
An excellent example of why not to say " uhh " crikey less caffeine more fresh air advisable.
You should hear Trudeau try and speak, he's a thousand times worse than this and English is obviously not her primary language.
Perhaps the most erudite and wordly political philosopher. I wish you would write more, or write a truly expansive ‘academic’ book about modernity, John!
Progressive Rock is what they are. You have Ian's inimitable vocals, songwriting, acoustic guitar and flute, Martin Barre's scorching electric guitar riffs, and various drummers, keyboardists and bass players. They always sound like Tull and that is what is so great about them.
Ty Professor Grayling. Fantastic. You are a true gift.
wasps are my worst phobia. just the yellow ones we get in pub gardens in the summer. they are fasciinating though, i love the science of the parasitic wasp.
Nationalism from a perspective of a particular nation feeling oppressed can become humanist if equalities are being ignored or law treats us differently.
Really interesting - thank you for uploading and to Nick for sharing his experiences.
Superb talk by Sir Max - having read his book, I recognised that his talk could only be a summary and I recommend his book unreservedly, including for his mature reflections on the broader lessons about leadership and the relatively cosmopolitan outlook of President Kennedy (for all his imperfections). As Sir Max says, it is unlikely that most subsequent Presidents would have resolved the crisis as successfully. I agree also with his answers to the excellent questions from the audience. Thank you very much for sharing this.
