Thanks for taking the time to make these videos! I purchased your course last week as a supplement to keep me accountable in between sessions and it’s wonderful! 😄
Thank you for answering my question, I really appreciate it. I'm going to look up the ACT Therapy. Thank you again for the direction. I'm really hopeful that I can help accept these hurtful things and have a plan for the future.🤓
Two later I'm learning about my newly diagnosed 0CD but longer term dealing with than I knew, this video and all your videos are so helpful, thank you for the knowledge and non judgement ❤
Can’t wait for your rumination video! So excited! My question is, is it rumination when you have low or zero SUDS but have intrusive thoughts still? In other words, how can I have low anxiety now (I’ve been in ERP treatment) but still have obsessions?
It's rumination when the person feels the NEED to problem solve and will feel anxious if they don't. If it's not rumination, it's just general problem solving, but if you don't figure it out, it's okay.
Hi Nate! Thank you so much for making such Q&As. In Sensorimotor OCD if notice of breathing is triggering fear for someone who try to not notice and wanna pull away from it then we must step closer to it but if it is a compulsion of other triggered fear such like checking if I'm still alive or not, then should we try to push away the sensation or notice the sensation but try to not figure in out with the triggering fear?
11:49 “waxes & wanes” refers to phases of the moon. It grows from the thinnest crescent sliver all the way into a full moon and then back down again to nothing (new moon) 🌘🌗🌕🌓🌒
Is it ok to speak to your thoughts in your head, like when it comes say “Hey thought, I missed you! But you are only a small thought, so sorry for you.”. Sounds crazy but I would like to know. Thanks❤
Hi Nathan, thank you very much for answering questions. I hope to be able to ask some of my own if you do another live stream, since I missed this one. I was wondering if you have the link to the OCD support group on facebook, as I did not see a link in the description. It would be greatly appreciated!
For five years I have experienced breathlessness like I can’t catch my breath and have a hard time being able to take a deep breath. Which makes me anxious, which then makes it harder to breathe. It’s a vicious cycle. I notice it is really bad when I’m feeling stressed. It’s like I am mildly hyper ventilating all day. Is this any kind of form of OCD? Or just general anxiety?
greetings, im so sorry that you are going through this, I am going through the exact same thing for a year now and for me its like I can't breathe (fish out of water ) I need to take a long deep breathe with my mouth every minute and it just makes me more breathless and the cycle continues. Yes it OCD its called sensorimotor oct and pls give ERP a try it is kind of working for me and pls keep me posted on your condition
I am having a really hard time with existential ocd, can you have some advice for me I keep thanking if anything around me is real what if my husband and kids aren't real.
what are your thoughts/advice on depersonalization and derealization disorder? Lately I've been feeling out of control of my body, or that i'm not real. I know you've had a video in the past about existential OCD, and it's a great video, but there are times where the anxiety gets so bad that I can't feel anything for a while.
I'm so disappointed my question wasn't answered. Nathan would you kindly answer it please? Does doing ERP effect you mood? When I'm low I find exposures harder to do as it's Sucidal Ocd and worry that the thoughts will come true? I'm currently having therapy for this.
Oh no! I'm sorry I missed it. There were so many, I probably got to about half. Mood definitely can affect ERP. Exposures are harder when individuals are feeling depressed or have low energy. We try to focus on what you have control over like, sleep, eating healthy, exercise, drinking water, etc to give you a better chance at ERP.
@@ocdandanxiety I was told by a therapist to carry on with exposures no mater what my mood is. I sleep and eat well. And function well in life so it not like I'm severely depressed?
@@ocdandanxiety nathan..plzz ans..my ocd say if i notice my blinking that time my eyes are moving then i need to normal my eye movements..this is compulsion?
Just do exposure create it in your head and watch the thought patiencly like a another person and sai o it's so cool, look how he doing this, I know it's difficult but do it again and again and it will disappear.
I would like to think I'm a nice guy however I've always suffered with intrusive thoughts like hitting someone. Certain urges I get worried I could ever hurt my loved ones. I also have a habit of picking an object up like a TV remote and shaking it for a few seconds I do this in private have done for years. It's nuts I know 😂 sometimes the anxiety is horrendous and debilitating causing a lot of self doubt. I also seek perfection in things. This must be a form of ocd? I mean just the other day i had a crazy one. that whilst brushing my teeth if I didn't brush them all within 2 minutes my daughter would die. It gets very severe.
ERP works great for real event OCD. It's all about how you're going to respond do the thought or feeling. I have a video specifically for this in the course.
First i have tinnitus then after that somatic ocd(swallowing ocd) but i recovered from all this but now its been 2-3 days started noticing my floaters more but i noticed earlier but easily ignore it i don't know there is correlated with my ocd my floaters not increased But simply now i cant ignore it but earlier i can ignore 🥺😓
I appreciate all the donations throughout this video. I didn't know this was even a thing, but it means a lot! 😃

Is your OCD healing if you feel the ERP exercises do not trigger you or make you uncomfortable anymore?
Did you say there was one type of OCD that ERP doesn’t work with?

How do you go about getting an OCD diagnosis? I’ve been having intrusive thoughts for months and I’m pretty sure it’s OCD
Find someone on www.iocdf.org to help diagnose what you're going through.
