    I am from The Netherlands. We suffer from that kind of Americanization too. It used to be, in our culture, to be completely anti-social behaviour to invite a person over, for whatever occasion, and than expect that person to pay his or her own bill. Having said this, in Belgium, which is Dutch speaking too, they are exactly the opposite again, from what I have experienced, a number of times. Merry Christmas to you and your family, Svetlana. Hope you're all doing well.

    • @templer46
      @templer46 2 роки тому +13

      The Netherlands anti-social, yep. That's your culture, not "Americanization." In the USA, how people act, depends on where you live and how you were raised. I spent a month in the NL, frankly, with the exception of my friends and a few others, not worth the travel time. I will state, the easy access to sex with young non-prostitute women was great, but not worth the price of a plane ticket.

    • @Alsayid
      @Alsayid 2 роки тому +9

      It's kind of ironic that you say that, Joris, because in English when the guest is expected to pay their own bill it is called "Dutch treat."

      One disappointing thing that is so common is the bashing of America. You hardly ever see Americans speaking poorly of other countries. Americans having different customs doesn't make us bad or wrong. As a whole we are a generous people who don't deserve the down talk..

    • @templer46
      @templer46 2 роки тому +8

      @@ericnorthman9410 It comes from the feeling of inadequacy. Sadly, many Americans try to smooth this by self-deprecation. In an attempt to make others feel better about themselves. Far too often I've heard "I'm just a stupid American." When I hear it, I loudly let them know, you don't say that on foreign soil, that most likely an American died to protect. Then end it with an FU.

    I agree with the shadow box suggestion. My late father-in-law was a highly decorated fighter pilot (WW2) and then career officer. We had his ribbons and medals mounted in shadow boxes with a picture of him. Most went to his grand children and one to a local Air Force museum.

    Hi Svetlana!! :) I discovered your channel today and have watched a few of them. I really liked them!! B4 I forget I'd like to suggest making shadow boxes for your swimming medals. And when you get really big on your channel and making money from all your sponsors, then you could by a house with an indoor pool and display your shadow boxes with your medals in them. You should not stow them away. They are meant to be displayed and show what a special talented person you are!! I have a Svetlana that I have been chatting to for almost 1 and half years now. We are working on meeting each other for the very first time. I'm so excited. I love your country!! My Svetlana swims everyday. You have alot in common with her. Is this a favorite past time in Russia? Keep up the great work with your videos. I'm sure to watch many more!! Thank you so very much. You have a beautiful name, as that is the same as my vr gf!! ;)

    Regarding all of your swimming medals, you could make a "shadow box" to display them in. Or, get some type of case that you can organize and store them in. Either way, maybe you should make a "digital copy" of each medal by taking photos of each one individually. Safe travels and best wishes.

    Hi Svetlana, Nice awards and accomplishments!! After from serving time in the US Marine Corps, someone from my unit had made a shadow boxes for me and mounted my medals, awards, for me. Also I collect military challeng coins from different units I served with or just given to by great people from and I would make a collection display cases as well. Well also years ago because I use to run Marathons and half marthons and I got it made a shadow boxes case for all my medals which displays all my medal in one places. You could maybe do the same for all your swim medals and awards and organize it by time frame if you can remember month and year that you did it by. Put in a display cases. You don't have to keep the whole ribbon but keep it next to the medal, or use all your ribbon from the medals as a background display where you medals can be glue or mount on your box. Then you could just display in your house, at apartments, or display it in your UA-cam office or where you want as people come visit they can see it or just any where in the house. Or keep it at your parents at let them hang it on the wall, so they can show friends what you have done. Sorry I don't mean to go too long on the ideas. Google up US Military Shadow boxes and Swimming Medal Hanger.. I hope that helps give you ideas on what to do or find someone who can help make a personal custom shadow box for you. I put my display hanging on the wall for marathons. Military Shadow Boxes too sits on the bookshelf of my home office. Hope you like the idea. If so I would love a postcard from your home country as I collect post cards from UA-camrs I engage with :)) BTW love all your personal contents on youtube.

    I'd hang the medals on coat-hangers and keep them safe.
    They'll store well - you can organise them into years - or meets - or position or anything.
    And doing it will give you some good memories. 🙃

    20:45 I'm American and I've NEVER been to a birthday party where I had to pay my own meal. That is really weird and I wouldn't say that's an "American" way to do a birthday. If we threw a birthday party, we pay for all the guests. The guests just bring gifts.

    Why in gosh name does it take 4 hours for the delivery guy/woman to bring the Sushi? Are you 200 miles away from the store? If I ordered food from a delivery place and it took more than a half hour I would probably refuse the delivery as most warrant within 20 minutes. 4 hours? LoL That bus fair is super cheap.
    It has been decades here in the US since I have seen a public transport that cheap. Clearly the bus drivers there are not amongst the highest paid workers as they are in many American cities. I remember 40 years ago a physician actually complaining on TV about how the average NYC bus driver with only a HS equivalent (GED) earned more than he did. The fares had just hit a dollar back then. Of course nowadays the fares are more and so are the salaries.
    Nice day's fishing. Some of those, in the US, one should put back in the water and let it grow bigger.
    You say it is April when you discuss the hair cutting, but it is December Xmas time when this video aired. Gregorian or Julian calendar aside, they don't differ that much. This is December in both, LoL
    That's nice that your picture hangs at the pool.

Love your country and distribute as much as you can to share the beauty , love and manner of the Russians. The world needs to know more how wonderful people you are. It is great warm video and I like it. На здоровие! С новьiм годом!

    Dear Svetlana, there are albums for sale, in which there are sheets with plastic pockets, they are used to store coins, maybe there are those that are big enough to store your medals, you could then add a small piece of the ribbon , maybe this is a solution to your storage problem.

    My suggestion. All medals can be attached onto one board using double sided tape without their ribbon. You can arrange them nicely and I believe one board 1m x 1m can accommodate tens of them.
