Dear Alex, we have similar backgrounds and you are more than 100% right about families role in the business. 69 days ago i lost my 35 years married angel wife. She has supported me on every bump on my path in my life business or normal life. She was like my second brain . She almost said the same thing about something that i couldnt do due to the lack of experience. So long story short a good wife is like a treasure for the husband and i hope people can listen and learn from thier wife's opinions. I miss my wife so much that words are short to describe. I watched your video in tears while it just opened the pandoras box of my wifes memories. Thank you. Regards to your family.

Because of sharing your first experience in repair business, you bring back my first experience as well. When I started repairing,my first costumer brought in an LED TV 32 inches. And the problem is no backlight. I fixed the backlight issue, but unfortunately when I powered up the TV i saw the screen cracks in the middle😔😔. That day i felt like the whole world fell on me. It was a very terrible first experience. I bought a new led tv as a replacement for my costumer's tv. And i said to myself " i will not going to repair again". But because repair is my passion i did not stop. Until now i am doing repair, lots of led tv's and from the moment i broke one led tv til today i did not broke even a single one. We share the same hard feeling(challenge) on starting a repair business. Greetings from the Philippines 🙂.

amazing how different things are in other countries. here in the USA it makes little financial sense to do repairs on anything worth less than $300 unless you are simply doing it as a hobby with $0 overhead.

First of all Thank you so much Alex. I am 23 and I am from INDIA. I am in Electronics repair business since 3 years now. But due to Post Covid Financial Problems I hadn't enough money to invest in my buisness. I started my repair buisness by just repairing headphones back in my college days. Now I can repair a huge variety of devices. But Sometimes Customer didn't understand that we can't fix every device. So they just become too much abusive on me. By watching your videos I gained more confidence to deal with customers and their devices. YOU ARE MY IDOL SIR🙏 YOU ARE MY INSPIRATION. I hope one day I can meet you in person. Again THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH SIR. You can't Imagine how you just changed my life. Thank you Sir. You will always have My Respect SIR❤️

I'm a hobby repair guy and I was thinking I was the only one making mistakes. For the moment I'm working on a PlayStation 5 with ripped off pads HDMI port. 9 in total, like you say sometimes Hiroshima. Took me 5 hours to repair the pads. Sometimes I'm also thinking, what am I doing? I do it for free, I love to help others and I always get presents. Maybe strange, I relaxes me because I have to concentrate myself during the installation of the pads. Some go to the 9th dimension too. I have a difficult job and this hobby disconnects me from the rest. What you explain here, it's like my first steps. But I also hate to give up. I'm also a perfectionist, sometime this doesn't help. Sometimes it's more like a handicap. I always think, if someone else can do this, I can also. Makes me a strange guy, like my wife says to me. Now my son is 14 years old and he is just like me. Every day he has to learn something otherwise he is unhappy, just like me. It's a pity that not more people are like this. Would make life much easier for all of us. Love your channel btw !!!

This story makes me so happy for you, cause i know what its like.
I was hired on to work at a game store when i was 20, both the owner and the manager thought i wasn't going to cut it. Later I became a tech, and I didn't want to because i was scared of messing up peoples devices. It's been 10 years since then, and now after 2 years i own one of the highest rated (if not THE highest rated) shops in the state, I can attribute some of that success to you as well!

At 19 I'm fortunate enough to have a job at a local small shop where I can learn and practice and if I break something it's not out of my pocket. Bought all my own soldering equipment to keep at the shop and learn and practice on all the excess donor devices so once I'm 1000% confident in my soldering abilities I'm going to start my own shop in a different area. Already been taking in mail in solder jobs on the side and done a bunch of ports and other solder jobs through the shop. Great story and you're a great motivation to me!

My Brother Alex, you don't know how much motivation you just gave me now. I hate it when the video ended so soon. I could spend hours listening to your words of wisdom. out of my love for phone repairs i broke 2 LCD and battery port and had to order again. i order the third time and bring it to the phone shop pay them to change lcd, bettery port and later i returned it to my customer. I lost money on 2 LCD and labor fees at the phone repair shop. from then i said "phone repairs are not meant for me". i was so disappinted and believed in what I thought until I come across this video. You are an inspiration brother. motivation, and ethics and many positivity captured in your single video.. Greatly appreacited

I started an auto detailing business. I didn’t want to clean crappy cars for a few bucks so I set my prices nearly double what others were charging. Since I know SEO and like you I am a web developer I built a VERY nice VERY clean website, ran Google ads and I started getting TONS of calls.
They were doctors, lawyers, I even cleaned the car of a Denver Broncos backup QB.
The cars I was cleaning were Jaguars, BMW, Porsche, Audi, etc.
So the moral of the story is if you LOOK like you can command a premium price then you can charge a premium price.

Watching your videos has given me the confidence to try repairs that are outside of my comfort zone. I've been recently buying up user damaged retro video games. People damage their games when trying to replace the save and clock batteries. These games have required micro trace repair, IC replacement, IC repair, etc.
I've been able to buy them at a fraction of the cost, repair them, and then use the money from selling the games to buy more broken games, and tool upgrades. Thank you so much, Alex.

I agree with the family statements as well. My wife and I will be married for 7 years this March. We are still going strong. My mentor told me a few years ago, "Marriage doesn't get easier. It just gets harder. The part that gets easier is coping with it. " I do agree, the arguments can get worse, and people just have the COMPLETE opposite of what marriage is. However, my wife and I vowed to GOD for better or for worse. Till death due us part. We want to strangle each other to death at times for weeks, but we get through it and find ways to cope. But enough of me on my soap box. Your speech is definitely inspiring, and this is the first time I have seen any of your videos. Keep it up, man!

I have tears in my eyes ,your story is inspiring ,i said before , you are a wonderful person ...you said at some point you are a "perfectionist" , i am just like you , a perfectionist , my mother told me when i was younger : " my little son , you will probably have a hard life " and i asked : "why mom ?" and she replied : "Because you are a perfectionist in an imperfect world ! "
Those words stuck in my mind to this day , i was 17-18 then....i am 36 now...still the same kid... but now struggling...stuck in a job that i don't like , i am captive , imprisoned for the past 15 years ...but watching your videos woke me up , just a few more months and i will quit and try to start my own thing....in a strange way i am verry attracted to what you do , microsoldering , repairs etc , looked up for some classes that i can take to learn but not with much luck...nothing as proffesional as what you do....
Anyways , keep up the good work , i am watching your videos with great pleasure and wished to be around someone like you to learn the ways of microsoldering and repairs !

I’m trying to start my own repair phone business and I’m very friendly with my friends and family. So marketing is not a problem. Just experience is what I crave and want!

You bring back memories to me. I had a great job with Eastman Kodak in 1974. But I wanted something more. So I was a ham radio operator and went to "Hamfest" to buy up electronic gadgets and found "Clone" computers living there. I bumped into an old friend with the last name of Kahn in Atlanta. He started financing the surplus so we would take a lot of it to sell, he supported me for 29 years. He set me up with a truck load of electronic surplus that my wife and I started selling in the fleamarkets. The next thing you know, we had so much stuff that we opened a computer shop in Chattanooga Tn. and built and repaired computers. I continued working for Kodak until 1996 seeing the failure of that company coming, so I retired. Our little family owned shop did well and was well known. In 2015 we decided that we had had enough fun and sold our shop to our local backup repair person. He is still doing well and has just become an authorized repair shop for Apple Computers too. We saw alot of situations like on this video, as my friend told me you just have to sit back and take it sometime. Thank you for your story.

Your story is very inspiring, especially when you talked about your spouse giving you a moral booster you really needed at the time you were confused on what to do. I shed some tears when I heard that and it really shows how commitment in the marriage can help each other to grow tremendously. Thanks for sharing.

You are a gem of a human being and a good role model for those who need understanding on what it takes to be a good person, a caring parent and loving husband. Your success today is from the integrity and honesty inside you. I just got my wake-up call this morning, your message is inspiring, and am going to keep my head up. I fix cars on the side when there's no job working offshore, I use to think maybe if I charge less my customers will come over time, lately, I just said if they want to come let them come there is no compromise. Thanks, I think it's time to leave bed a get productive this morning. Thanks and regards to our lovely mum and family.

Alex, your videos are the original rabbit hole! I've been trying to fix some electronics gear with little or no knowledge and you seem unstoppable. I laughed about your comments on a wife and the mother - I've been married almost 40 years but lost my mother a little over that. It's no coincidence, and I still miss my mother - she was my biggest fan. Keep up the good work and thank you so much for all the repair videos! Great marketing, I'm sure, but it would seem you no longer need that. Cheers

And let me tell you, ive cracked tv screens and fixed things so well that they stopped working all together. but today I know what not to do.

Yes sir! Exactly!!! That's what I did. The fake it until you make it kind of business. I started sitting on my bed fixing tech with contractors tools, now I have a full hot air rework bench complete with microscope and power supply.
