Fix stuck Windows Updates!

Have an HP Pavilion (old XP for games only)
It did this and eventually it stated it needs to be re formatted with original XP cd (the computer was a gift and used no discs).
Im going to try to erase the HD and put a Linux cd. I have a windows xp cd but it wouldn't accept because it's a different motherboard.
Honestly windows is for people who buy a replacement laptop every 5 years, not for the long haul.
