I just purchased the 308/7.62 16'' version on this rifle while at the Sig Experience Center last month. The 6.8x51 version was on pre-order. Sig has the 6.8x51 ammo listed on their web sight, but it's not yet available. The price is insane. $1,300.00 for 460 rounds, or $2,500.00 for 920 rounds.
I hope the Army has truly figured out the weight. I have concerns about 8-9 guys using this thing with 20-round mags. I worry 20 round mags and extra weight. The bullet itself offers overmatch, and the new optic helps at range, but I worry about squad maneuvering with 20-round mags and more weight.
I also don't believe it's even the military round even in terms of power. If it is, it's less effective against armor, based on penetration speed, than advertised.
Question that no one has answered so far, the rifle taken out of the box in caliber 6.8x51 how accurate is it at 100 yards how many moas does it make, please if someone could answer but with proven information.
I would like to see some solid info as well! I've heard the XM7 is supposed to be something like a 2MOA gun or worse. It would be nice to see better capabilities than that.
@@Rainierarms I am with you 100 percent, I watch almost all the youtube videos and in almost all of them it is 2 MOA and up and in the last one it was 4 or more, it is a disaster. People who do not know even a little bit do not understand basic mathematics, usually a human chest at 100 yards is 12 inches wide. Using the 4 MOA of the spear out of the box in 6.8x51 means that the spear is missing by 34.9% on a target that is not moving at 100 yards 🤦, and I already know what many are going to tell me, the standard m4 of the infantry does the same 4 MOA, yes it is true but we are in 2024, almost by 2025 precision is very important.
I believe the civilian rounds and the military rounds are different and therefore different results. Eventual hand loads are different yet. Also people are using different sights resulting in more differences. The civilian rounds with civilian sights seem to have a 1 1/2" group at 100 yards by some UA-cam shooters. One shooter was able to hit a coyote sized target at 1,000 yards 50% of the time with civilian ammunition and a civilian sight. The military effective range is twice that of the M4 using military equipment.
Have to wonder if the barrel is of the same grade and material used in the military version, ( chf chrome lined ? ) or a derated civilianized one like what HK does.
You'd have to be an idiot to want the rear charging handle, it's one of the major problems. completely inferior to side charging.. I would completely laugh at some dude trying to use the rear charging handle when he has a side charging handle lol
Only an idiot would call a rear charging handle inferior. It has served well on many platforms for decades and unlike the side charging handle, it is AMBIDEXTEROUS.
Actually man it's not that great...I use the rear charging handle most of the time...go buy one and see for yourself and actually use it for like more than 1 mag...its not all that great
Plus I don't see why ppl like this comment...calling ppl names when this person clearly doesn't own a spear...i own one I can tell you every little quirk ab it
50/50. It’s an impressive weapon but I worry about weight and ten fewer rounds per magazine seems like a step backward. Look at the close fighting in Ukraine. Not sure why you’d want to give squads fewer bullets. I understand the 6.8 is powerful but one of that matters if you aren’t landing shots on target and moving well.
@@L11ghtman Why worry about the weight? The Spear Assaulter K is a 9 inch and weighs as much as the breacher MK18s. Obviously civs aren't getting the best of the best.
🔥🔥 excited for the PDW LMT!

That's why you save it and use the fmj for training.
Awesome work team. Love the hotness! ❤
Side and rear charging seems interesting. I may just have to try it!
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥 Rifle or SBR!?!?!?!? hmmm

The Spear Assaulter K weighs as much as a MK18 and a 9 inch barrel.
the m27 is also 9 lbs. and thats a 5.56 rifle.
Spear Assaulter K weighs as much as a MK18. People are dramatic
They’ll probably end up using mostly 25 round mags
🔥🔥🔥
$4 a round of .277 Fury is wild!
6.8* not 277. That shit is as strong/stronger than black tip 30-06

If sig made the gun DI and shaved off 1.5 lbs the gun would be better... also tweeked the gas settings.
What happened to the original 135gr bullet they started with? Had to drop the weight to up the velocity it seems
113 grain is a training round. It was the weakest they wanted to go but the strongest that the wimpy 5.56 existing ranges can take.
Will the ammo be loaded to mili spec

Will this really replace the M4 ??

It already did
No. This is an infantry rifle for the army. Front line troops make up 20% of the U.S. army with the other 80% being support. Support gets the M4.
