INFJs have Ni as their dominant function, which is all about finding patterns and predictability. They have Se as their inferior function, and can really struggle with making decisions or acting on the spot. They typically do not thrive in fast-paced or emergency situations, which is probably why emergency medicine was not listed for the INFJ in this video. (also if you've typed yourself using letters and online tests, you are probably mistyped. MBTI is based off COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS, NOT LETTERS. I would recommend researching about cognitive functions 😊)

I'm also INFJ and the options shown are not my favorites but I love anesthesiology and OBGYN. I actually studied psychology for years until I realized I didn't like the field and I'm not the best person to counsel people. But I love being an advocate esp around disability and women's health issues. There's a lot of advocacy work within pediatrics but I find surgery very interesting and I wouldn't have that option in primary care/peds. I was a secretary in oncology for a few years and I loved it! Definitely a lot of advocacy work within oncology
I’m also an INFJ and a 3rd year medical student. I’m not sure 100% what I want to do yet as I’ve only had two rotations so far (FM and IM which I don’t really like either) but I’m interested in anaesthesia, EM and possibly OB/GYN. I just know I love working with my hands!
Hello! Im also an INFJ specifically getting my nursing degree and the specialties I have been drawn too are critical care (ICU) and Mother baby which need advocates. I did used to want to be a pediatric nurse though until I did my rotation and was slightly overwhelmed. I also prefered antepartum and postpartum care when it came to mother baby and am not crazy about labor and delivery since it can be very fast paced. Although I would welcome the challenge!😂
ENFP primary function is Ne, extraverted intuition. Their secondary function is Fi, *introverted* feeling. They are more like ENTP or INFP than ESFP. They are excellent at pattern recognition and cross referencing, communicating complex info and seeing how something in one field or situation applies "harmonically" a different one. It is a common mistake to overemphasize their extraversion and feeling. In this case all the recommendations are ones you said were good for sensory. The whole "dont say the cake was bad and recall birthdsys" is *extraverted* feeling, Fe. Introverted feeling/Fi, is more about matching feeling tones to patterns analogous to musical notes or colors, (but those are sensory things). Inttoverted feeling is the whole "it vibes like x" phenomenon, not about people pleasing. I think Rhematology or Nuerology, Psychiatry, Infectious disease/public health or focus on differential diagnostics aspect would be the stereotypical fit for how they think. Although they tend to have a silly streak and excitable, so maybe throw in pediatrics and emergency.
Interesting how INFJ is supposed to be the rarest of MBTI types and there seems to be a lot of us in the comments of this video! Reaffirms my interest in becoming an MD. 😅
INFP here and i did seriously consider both pysch and palliative care! then during my clinical years i found out that patients' suffering rubbed off on my soft heart too easily so now im going into radiology lol
I had problems with that too, during clinical rotations i used to faint whenever i saw a patient suffering badly 😢 people used to think i was afraid of blood but it was far beyond that lol. Eventually, i learned how to control my emotions and now i'm interested in ophtalmology
I'm INTP and heading into ophthalmology. As an extreme analyst myself, I think of the eye as an outstandingly analytical organ, and I love its strict anatomy and (patho)physiology. Working on that, while still having a healthy amount of patient interaction, I think it's perfect for me.
I’ve been waiting for a video like this, thank you! I’m an INFJ and I want to go into psychiatry but I’m also interested in global health and radiology :)
I don't think psychiatry or internal medicine is a great fit for extroverts, to be honest. Introverts thrive on alone time, as well as in-depth one-on-one conversations. They enjoy getting to know patients' histories and contemplating possible diagnoses for an extended period. I understand that these are just tendencies, and anyone can find happiness in any specialty. I just wanted to highlight this aspect as a true introvert who is torn between choosing psychiatry and internal medicine. Great video, by the way, as usual!
I'm an ENTP, and now specializing in haematology. It's true, I like the intellectual challenge of diagnosing difficult presentations. I was about to match into neurosurgery, but I stress easily, and got tired of stress early.
I am an ENFJ and I want to go into cardiology and specialize in surgery but when I was younger I always said I wanted to be a family medicine doctor 👩🏽⚕️ hmm seeing this video really perked me back to where I want to go because the other day I came to the realization that I’m interested in DO but I do want to travel and work for nonprofits as a physician 😊
ISFJ here. I enjoyed the video and found it intriguing. Strangely, I find myself comfortable with a structured position and not conversing a lot with people continuously. However, my interest is surgery and EM. Keep the videos coming; they are always insightful.
Take a look into Dr. Linda Berens’ InterStrength Type framework- particularly the Essential Motivators component. It will help you understand where the comfort-in-structure experience of the ISFJ [and the other stabilizers (xSxJ) as well] comes from in better fashion than any purely MBTI model can.
I'm ENFP and want to pursue Internal Medicine or Nephrology. To me they are the most challenging and wide specialties, where every single detail can count, but so does the bigger picture!
I’m an intp (even tho I don’t feel like one lol) before watching this I’ve been wanting to be and interventional radiologist, and I’m really happy this vid said it was “meant” for me! Stuff like this makes me happy lol ❤ let’s goooo aspiring medical workers!!
I’m an ENTJ and the top specialty on my list is, and always has been, pathology. While I do consider myself to be an outgoing people person and a natural leader, path has had my entire heart and soul since I was 14. Sure, I’ve played around with the idea of PM&R and palliative care and I’ve had people try and recruit me into psychiatry and neurology, but the truth is that I fall more in love with pathology all the time and can’t see myself doing anything else. Honestly though just being out of the house and around other humans, talking on the phone, chatting with colleagues, all of these things charge my battery just fine. I think I’m solid.
As INFJ ill choose internal medicine, probably because of it's global approach to health and in order to interact with patients closely, as you said MBTI is more orientational towards preferences
I really like your videos, I think they are very helpful and insightful. But I have some notes on this video. The mbti letters are not the description of the personality, instead they are a code to know the cognitive functions of said personality. This theory was originally created by The psychiatrist Carl Jung who stated that there is 8 cognitive functions: Ti, Te, Fi, Fe, Ni, Ne, Si and Se. Each personality type has 4 functions one feeling function, one thinking, one intuition and one sensory. 2 opposite functions in a personality are found in opposite attitudes meaning that if you have Fe you would necessarily have Ti, if you have Fi you then have Te and so on. Then the myres briggs model came to life and gave each function stack the 4-letter-name. Describing the personalities based on letters instead of the functions gives shallow and sometimes inaccurate understanding of the theory. Example is the letter I or E, it doesn’t talk about the social battery of the personality, it instead means an ‘I’ personality has its dominant function to be introverted ( Ni, Si, Fi or Ti) and an ‘E’ personality has main function to be extroverted ( Fe, Te, Se or Ne). Extroversion in this theory means external application of thoughts, feelings, intuition or sensing, it includes people but not limited to them. Introversion meaning internal processing of thoughts, feelings, intuition or sensing. For example Te function is defined by Carl Jung in his book Psychological Types as “Thinking which attains visible form” and “The thought of extraverted thinking produces”. Te is focused on being productive and getting things done efficiently. It also is associated with leadership and directing a group to get work done. Te includes people but is mainly focused on efficiency and productivity.
INFJ here @ premed. Still don't know what specialty to choose. My strength says psychiatry, since I'm also a teacher ...but let's see in actual med school. These videos are very relaxing to watch.
INFJ and studying Ophthalmology. Now my creepy staring into people's eyes will be part of my job and understandable :D There is something right for everyone, y'know? Don't stress and go with what feels right
ENTP - Ophtalmology. It’s also highly innovative like Neuro and Rheumatology but also procedure-heavy and surgical, it was a natural choice as I also like working with my hands a lot
INFP - love Infectious disease and planning for veterinary medicine. There’s an instinct that connects human to animal and remind us where we came from
I'm ENTP and it's pretty precise coincidence about neurology and rheumatology. But i believed psychiatry was also ENTP-like speciality as there are many comorbidian cases in which it's not easy to distinguish symptoms etc. and it is required a brainstorm to make a right decision.
ENTJ here! im a pre med matriculating into med school this year with the goal of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon :) I have had my mind set on this goal since my freshman year (undergrad) in cadaver lab and shadowing cardiothoracic surgeons and working/interning around the heart institute, and I am excited to see how things go this upcoming year for me as an MS1!
I'm an INTJ and I want to be a neurology. I like tests like this, j think it's really interesting and the choice of our future works depends on our character
I’m ISFJ and family medicine, pediatrics and anesthesiology are in my top 5 specialties. Pretty interesting video and glad to see my personality type aligns with specialties I’m interested in 😂
I'm isfj too and I chose pediatrics. It's comfortable when it comes to being kind and generous but note that it's very annoying and a challenge for an introvert.
Myers-Briggs is not a very well regarded measurement tool in the field of personality psychology. It has poor test retest reliability for one, and it is generally found to have no predictive power for any sort of outcome. Using it to choose a specialty is like using your horoscope sign to make decisions about the future.
INTJ here that works in family medicine. I find that I work pretty much by myself most of the time, I have time to design complex plans of care for endless different problems my patients give me, plus I can work in a relatively Se low stress environment, which is my desk and computer. A lot is said about INTJ being bad at dealing with people, which is true, thankfully thought I’m not at work to make friends, when it’s a structured interaction I’m good. Just some food for thought.
as an esfj that considers herself an ambivert, i'm considering both family medicine and anesthesiology (family med is suggested for both esfj and isfj, while anesthesiology is only recommended for isfj) so i find a lot of validity in this rating hehe
Hi, INFJ med student here some of my previous choices were to be psychiatrist, but for now I want to be pediatrician more. I still have a few years to learn before I graduate ,but I don't think my choices will change a lot. :)
The ENTP one was spot on. I love the cerebral detective specialties and could totally see myself doing rheumatology or neurology, and clinical genetics too. Infectious disease is another great detective specialty but memorizing all those bug names makes my brain hurt.
THIS IS SO ACCURATE. I'm an entj/intj in professionals, wanting to aspire neurosurgery, it's my dream. Being an doctor & choosing the surgical field has been fascinating ever since my childhood and Brain! Its mesmerizing for me. I love getting learning about it, i really wanna get into research department too in mainly neurosurgery or other departments too, also I'm having an vision to cure people's mental state into something better, so functional neurosurgery hypes me up everytime. Like can talk about neuroscience, cognitive brain like hours. Haha, anyways I can be completely extrovert sometimes, coz i really love to lead a team, leadership goals! Yk. but my energy mostly gets recharged when I'm with me alone. Its a sense of peace that comes along with it, away from this chaotic world all the time. But guess what, I'm actually an hybrid or an mix. Coz my thinking and feelings get balanced quite very well like 50% as well as extravertion and intravertion so it's like I'm naturally an INFJ as per the test, i believe it too but what it seems is I'm moreover have a hybrid or balancing personality mainly these 4 (INFJ, INTJ, ENTJ, ENFJ) the intuitive judgment is common in all. But my thinking pattern changes or resolves it's own as per the alternatives. I've noticed i tend to show my emotions, emphathy only to my closed ones and kindness is my language of soul, i may say coz i really love it! Love helping ppl In need, giving them the best advices, ect. It brings me so much of happiness. Btw, my professional side (intj/entj) is completely different, I'm seriously focused, not rude but strict sometimes, leadership roles, interaction with people, analysis of new ideas/outcomes, i love doing this too! Also i don't let my emotions take control over me, atleast not at my study or work place. Discipline is my key, consistent progress & tasking out it all in schedules/to-do mainly, reaching my potential and more :) in conclusion, someday I'll fullfill my dream and find my way back to this comment.❤
Great video however it is better to not rely on the dichotomy of the letters if you want to find your mbti. You should study cognitive functions, understand them and see how they apply onto your life then figure out which functions do you identify with the most. When i used to rely on letters, i had such a hard time finding my type, i could see myself in so many different scenarios and just couldn't decide. But after learning cognitive functions, i quickly found out that i am Ne dominant and the rest also came easily and i found my type. Using cognitive function is the most accurate way to finding your True Mbti type.
@@liilywang I recommend Frank James on UA-cam to start with if you like watching videos! You can also just google MBTI Cognitive Functions to find some articles on it.
Hilarious, I'm an ENFP and I've worked in Family Medicine for 1 year and Internal Medicine for 2 years as a GP/House Officer. Now I'm planning to do USMLE and be a Psychiatrist, the only reason I don't work Pediatrics is because I'm awkward with kids and get along way better with the parents (which instills confidence in them, but still hard for me). Have to say, this is pretty spot on.
Surprised to not see psychiatry mentioned on the ENFP timestamp, as each component had psychiatry name-dropped as a good fit when explaining the breakdown of Myers-Briggs in the intro 🥲 either way, it’s heart-warming to see this video as an ENFP who has been working as a psych RN for the past several years, I plan to go to the PMHNP route once I get my DNP 🥰
INFP, a general practicioner currently working in ambulance, family medicine and psychiatry (opioid addiction treatment mainly). Ambulance was my great love for years but I have got tired of the conflicts that often occur there, also the uncertainty that once excited me has become tiresome. Perhaps it's just a burnout though. Family medicine center is more to keep my skills up (I come to work when another doctor needs a free day), I quite like it but I feel there is too little time and too many patients. My favourite right now is the psychiatry clinic :)
WOOOAH! As a Myrerrs-Briggs "Expert", the whole introverts would be bad at Psychiatry is INCREDIBLY inaccurate. The leading type or the best type to work in Psychological fields, especially in the clinical side of things would be the INFJ. The second most social introvert lends itself to 1on1 interactions rather than bigger community type of of fields. Although as said in the video they do require a recharge period much like any other introvert. It was said in the video anyways, introvert does not mean they cant be social butterflies.
As an INFJ I absolutely hate the idea of psych. I'd hate to visit patients that I know I can barely help. Psychiatry only helps if the patient WANTS to change unfortunately the majority of patients don't even realiz their problems or will hardly benefit from therapy or the drugs. It would absolutely shatter my mentality to see I'm only receiving money and not being to help others in the end.
As a psychiatrist, I can say that I love my job because the majority of patients I see WANT to change and thus, I am constantly inspired by my patients as I do see them change. People who don’t want to change don’t end up seeing a psychiatrist.
I am an ENTP but I do not neccisarily relate to the specialities. I like Infectious disease but I am much more drawn to Emergency Medicine, Trauma Surgery, Global Health, Pediatrics or running my own clinic as a general practicioner. I think all of those are also suitable matches with ENTP, since they require quick thinking, lots of social interactions and innovative thinking. But that is just my opinion.
I’m an entp too and I am interested in most things surgical or procedural. I lo e abstract thinking and complex topics but I want to socialize and do procedures! Cheers
INTJ here, before watching the video i knew i wanted to be a neurosurgeon, still in high school though so i have a long way to go before actually deciding.
I'm an ENFP (according to two separate tests taken on two separate days). But I really am fascinated by ENTP type branches especially Neurology and Rheumatology. Let's see what's in store for me. 😅
INTJ here in Infectious Disease who LOATHED neuro, surgery, and cards rotations in med school/IM residency, lol. I wonder where the discrepancy is, given that other commenters agreed with the vid. Guess it just goes to show how complex we humans really are. :)
I'm an INTJ and none of the specialities work for me, yeah I choosed the wrong career thanks to my dad and mum who '''''helped''''' me. Computer Science was the right choice.. Some of us should be engineer, not a doctor. Good for you that if you still didn't realize. Because if you realize, the burden of your wasted 6 years is much more painful than you think...

INFJ - I want to be a Psychiatrist! ❤ freaky how accurate this video was and confirmed for me I picked the right specialty haha 😊
Interesting how INFJ is supposed to be the rarest of MBTI types and there seems to be a lot of us in the comments of this video! Reaffirms my interest in becoming an MD. 😅
Maybe INFJ’s are always in comments because we’re insightful and want to hear others’ opinions
INFJ here :) Trying to get into med school for 2025!
@@birdyghostlyexactly
INFP here and i did seriously consider both pysch and palliative care! then during my clinical years i found out that patients' suffering rubbed off on my soft heart too easily so now im going into radiology lol
Me too, radiology or pathology 😅
I'm infp nd I'm actually thinking more of radiology but I'm still deciding
Rad or optha for me hopefully
I too am too sensitive to see my patients hurting personally I'm leaning towards radiology as well!
I had problems with that too, during clinical rotations i used to faint whenever i saw a patient suffering badly 😢 people used to think i was afraid of blood but it was far beyond that lol. Eventually, i learned how to control my emotions and now i'm interested in ophtalmology
As an INTJ 3 the 4 mentioned specialties are specialties I have looked into for a long while. This seems an excellent confirmation.
As an istj…can’t explain how much I want to get into pathology, and this confirms it even more.
I'm INTP and heading into ophthalmology. As an extreme analyst myself, I think of the eye as an outstandingly analytical organ, and I love its strict anatomy and (patho)physiology. Working on that, while still having a healthy amount of patient interaction, I think it's perfect for me.
ENFJ who is pursuing Pediatrics & Neonatology- you nailed it! 👏🏽 Thanks for the fun video!
I’ve been waiting for a video like this, thank you! I’m an INFJ and I want to go into psychiatry but I’m also interested in global health and radiology :)
I'm an infp and a psychiatrist🥰 Seems like I chose the right specialty before I knew myself. I really like talk with people!
As an Intj the speciality you mention is what inspired me most
Me too i want to be a neurosurgeon
I was intj when I was younger and now I’m istj. I chose oral surgery because that will provide me with anesthesia rotations and surgical expertise
INFJ here, going to surgery. although psychiatry was my favorite, its no longer.
So curious, I am an INFJ interested in surgery, what year of residency are you at the moment?
I am an INFJ on every single test I’ve taken. Being a psychiatrist has been my dream since i was 14 and had never taken a personality test in my life.
INTJ here and I couldn’t agree more with the neurology/neurosurgery options!
Also psychiatry is a good option. It’s possible to have less patient interaction and cut to the chase once you’re an attending physician
INTJ here
Wanted to pursue ophtho, went for cardiology
And I've always liked Neurology
It's as if your video was a perfect match
Yeah same 😂😂
Also INTJ, I'm most interested in neurosurgery, ortho, or ophth. If people keep tagging in for years I'll let yall know what happened :P
Yeah same 😊
INTJ too, actually optho resident and I've always been interested in cardiology and neurosurgery
INTJ in IM 😂
I lowkey been waiting on this video, and you did a great job at explaining
We hope it was worth the wait! Are there any other topics you've been hoping for from us?
@@MedSchoolInsiders idk if its possible but you should do what type of music does people is this medial field like the most
I'm ENFP and want to pursue Internal Medicine or Nephrology.
To me they are the most challenging and wide specialties, where every single detail can count, but so does the bigger picture!
As an ISTJ, I am happy to see Anesthesiology works for me personality-wise too!! Hoping to be one someday.
I’m an intp (even tho I don’t feel like one lol) before watching this I’ve been wanting to be and interventional radiologist, and I’m really happy this vid said it was “meant” for me! Stuff like this makes me happy lol ❤ let’s goooo aspiring medical workers!!
I’m an INTJ and really enjoy cardiology/electrophysiology and neurology!
WOW I'm a third year ENFJ med student and I'm applying to Med-Peds to be a hospitalist so this hit the nail on the head!
as an intj aspiring to be an ophthalmologist , this definitely gave me the sense i am going the right direction . all i gotta do is work hard now
I'm an INTJ and ophthalmology resident, and it fits perfect!
These videos are very relaxing to watch.
these videos never disappoint.
I’m usually an ISFJ, but last year I was an INFJ. Regardless, both have Pediatrics in this video and I am so happy and motivated with that!!!
thats not how it works
@@Moreso_fly what do you mean?
study cognitive functions , tests arent accurate
@@tev5388 I think most people know that. These things are purely for fun!
INFJ and studying Ophthalmology. Now my creepy staring into people's eyes will be part of my job and understandable :D
There is something right for everyone, y'know? Don't stress and go with what feels right
ENTP - Ophtalmology. It’s also highly innovative like Neuro and Rheumatology but also procedure-heavy and surgical, it was a natural choice as I also like working with my hands a lot
INFP - love Infectious disease and planning for veterinary medicine. There’s an instinct that connects human to animal and remind us where we came from
As someone whos an intj and wants to be a neurosurgeon i see this as an absolute win
This is very accurate of me INT-J & the speciality you mentioned is what inspired me most
Take the test again in five to ten years I bet it might change. Istj is more popular than intj is actually the most common personality type
I'm ENTP and it's pretty precise coincidence about neurology and rheumatology. But i believed psychiatry was also ENTP-like speciality as there are many comorbidian cases in which it's not easy to distinguish symptoms etc. and it is required a brainstorm to make a right decision.
entp and same, i absolutely love neurology
Thank you for taking the time to do this. I wasn’t sure which specialty would best suit me. I’m going to look into this personality breakdown
ENTJ here! im a pre med matriculating into med school this year with the goal of becoming a cardiothoracic surgeon :) I have had my mind set on this goal since my freshman year (undergrad) in cadaver lab and shadowing cardiothoracic surgeons and working/interning around the heart institute, and I am excited to see how things go this upcoming year for me as an MS1!
Fellow female entj here! Let’s show them a force to be reckoned with 🤟🔥

Congratulations!!! That’s incredible! I hope everything goes well for you! :)
Another ENTJ female here, aspiring to cardiothoracic surgery
@@bernicen145 thank you! same to you!
I'm an INTJ and I want to be a neurology. I like tests like this, j think it's really interesting and the choice of our future works depends on our character
I’m an ENFP and love all career choices suggested 🥰
Like a true ENFP, bc same! 😂
I'm tooo but I want to be a Neurosurgeon though
same, I want to go into anesthesiology and OB/GYN
ISTJ here, and truer words couldn't have been spoken! I hate changing rules, and exceptions
I’m a ISFJ aspiring FM, but I’m also interested in GI. Good to know this test kind of nailed it hahaha
I'm an INFP and interested in neurology/neurosurgery. I don't see many people with this combination but hopefully I'll survive.
I am an intj I am so so happy seeing neurologist and neurosurgery
Myers-Briggs is not a very well regarded measurement tool in the field of personality psychology. It has poor test retest reliability for one, and it is generally found to have no predictive power for any sort of outcome. Using it to choose a specialty is like using your horoscope sign to make decisions about the future.
Consul- 3rd year medical student here. Family Medicine is my top choice!
As an ENTP who has had mental health problems in the past, I want to be a psychiatrist to help others like myself.
Infectious disease is another great detective specialty but memorizing all those bug names makes my brain hurt.
as a Detective myself (entp ) I find neurologie sooo appealing and I love the human brain and how it's things its just so mesmerizing
As an ENFJ, I agree with this video!
ENFJ here, I was considering Fam Med, Ophthalmology, or Derm when I specialize after med school ❤
INFJ and Psychiatry is my preferred specialty 😊
the way i wanted to be an EMT before this video and as an ISTP this confirms it
Great video however it is better to not rely on the dichotomy of the letters if you want to find your mbti.
Using cognitive function is the most accurate way to finding your True Mbti type.
how do you recommend learning abt the cognitive functions?
Here an INFP happily heading to Psychiatry ☺️🙏
I found my love for Primary care working as a medical assistant and my personality is ENFJ. No need to change specialties
I am leaning on INTP since I really enjoyed doing research and analyze things
I am ENFJ but not interested in FM or IM. Enjoyed reading the results though ☺️
As an ENFJ i love the OT settings where theres teamwork. So my priorities have have always been a surgival specialty or even Anesthesia
I'm ESFJ and actually, OB GYN had been my first choice at the time i watched this video!!!
INTP here. I knew right off the bat that radiology would be one of them HAHA
Glad I'm picking the right specialty
ISFJ! Being passionate for surgery but life is giving me a turn and considering more primary care now!
Cheers
Waiting for optometry video. Dr Jubbal, you are the only person I can believe for health science.
Waiting for optometry as well. Please, Dr. Jubbal!
As an Enfj I recommend studying Nutrition and dietetics ❤

I love this❤🎉 I’m a enfp and I’m a pharmacy technician! Don’t know if it fits🤷🏾♀️ but I’ve been in pharmacy for 10 plus years lol
I am an INTP but pathology and radiology might just be extremely lonely and boring
i've been waiting for thisss !!!!
ENFJ and I'm leaning towards family med hehe but mostly for the work-life balance, or else orthopedic surgery would've been my first choice
INTJ here, before watching the video i knew i wanted to be a neurosurgeon, still in high school though so i have a long way to go before actually deciding.
INTJ here planning to specialize in neurosurgery. Cardio thoracic and oncology are my other options.
Infp am in psychiatry for child and adolescent . Spot on!
I’m ISFJ, and I’m going to be a urologist in Japan.
