Sweet ... all you gotta do is show up and pick one? I'll fly out next week. =]
After careful consideration, I've decided that I would like one of everything
Ha. 🥁
Ordered it. It came in today!!! My first Gretsch drum!!! Could not stop playing it. AWESOME DRUM!!! Can’t describe it but to say it’s the best I’ve ever played!!!
YES!
This series id GREAT! I couldn't just pick one. More like two or three or four. Also the best marketing I've seen.
I can’t say I’ve ever seen Mike play this, in any of his Gretsch videos over the years..
I don’t know why…it’s brilliant..
😁
2:49 what is this magic
Dope nasty.
What I was about to say. What is actually hitting. Just the hi-hat? Pretty sick.
Went straight and practiced it. Nice!!!!
Yeah, that is a sweet move.
Cannot wait to get this drum! Great playing too Mike!
Pair that with a Brooklyn 22/12/16 in abalone finish with low tuning... can you just imagine?
I just chills...
i love a deep metal snare, full bodied, very high pitched, tight and bright.
Love it!!!
I've probably watched this video a million times by now and I have got to say, from what I've heard, this could be the best snare drum I've ever heard!
As much as I love this snare, I prefer the GRETSCH PHOSPHOR BRONZE…
However, it’s 3 times the price of this one…
Having said that, Mike has his snare sounding better, than the more expensive one…
I bought the same! This video has helped a lot ❤️
8x14 broadcaster is the weapon
Of course Mike has played them all (or just about), and just chose that one as a flavour of the day. He's a great guy and a remarkable drummer and educator! I know what each endorser is going through here - same as any drummer's experience would be, in that it'd be very challenging to just settle on "one". You can pick one that you think is the best and then tomorrow or next week it's something else. Lets face it - they're all really good. Personally I've purchased almost every Gretsch snare present there, and some that I don't see there. At each time I thought it was "the one"....all part of the addiction and fun! What I found out, though, is that there really is no "one" snare drum and you can go broke in pursuit of finding it. Of course this whole topic is very subjective but truth is any good quality drum will do the job. Nevertheless This is a really cool idea for a video event and think it definitely demonstrates all of the fantastic snares Gretsch offer.
Just ordered mine this morning and I cannot wait to get it!!
YES!
I just got one of these ... Absolutely killin.
Stephen Haake love to see/hear yours!
Are these bronze shells rolled or welded?
I have a Gretsch Renown 4-piece 20" bass drum kit and this snare. Love this snare!
So fantastic to hear! Thank you.
that's a great set up I'm stuck between this and the solid aluminum to go with my renowns

Love Bronze 👍🏿
Best snare I’ve heard.
I wouldn’t need another one...just this.
The one!
I like this drummer , good choice ( ... ) mister Johnston !!
So happy to say that because of this video I ordered mine today! 👍😀🥁
Thank you
gretschdrumsusa , no problem at all! I’ve been wanting a Gretsch snare for so long! 😀👍🥁
Well the snare arrived and what can I say...! It's incredible! Not like some other brands that seem to add a little bit extra in the mix of their videos to make the snare sound better, I'm over the moon to say that the snare I have sounds exactly like this one! I didn't need to fiddle around with tunings, different heads or wires, right out of the box the drum had this exact sound! Thank You Gretsch, I've now got a new "go to" snare!
YES!

those hi hats are super nice, btw ...
The best Gretsch snare...love bronze.
Not inexpensive, but you wouldn’t need any others.
My favourite Gretsch snare.
Mike’s new favourite, I suppose, is his new Brooklyn Standard..😊
My favourite Gretsch snare..👍🏿
This must be before the Gretsch Brooklyn Standard..
🥁 Thank you.
Picking mine up today (gently used)! Going to sit behind a Renown maple 13, 16, 24.
Price?
@@artcorvolet Got it for $300 from the same guy I bought my Renown from. Couldn't walk away from the price.
Brian Phillips nice...I’d Like to hear the difference between this and the the USA phosphor bronze
@@artcorvolet Me too. I've never seen one in person and it's WAY out of my $$ range to buy
About a third of the price , of the GRETSCH PHOSPHOR BRONZE.
I mean I'm pretty sure he's contractually obligated to like every Gretsch
Best snare I’ve heard...love bronze..
How is this tuned..bottom to top ratio. ?
😎
Gretsch Bronze...as good as it gets..
If you could have ONE snare,..this would be it.
one of the "Go-To" Snare Drums.
this is my next baby here! yesssss!
yesh
😃
For me, as I am not an endorser (just yet;), I would go for Full Range Maple 5x14 and USA Custom Chrome over Brass, also 5x14 :)
Great combo
I think Mike must have really cranked this up, after selecting it.
Two different sounds.
How does the 5” in this, compare to the heavier 6.5”.
What heads (batter & snare side) are on this one? Thanks!
CS coated black dot on batter...Ambassador snare side
Picked up a 6 1/2" x 14" Hammered Black steel just last year. It's F*ing amazing but who's to say I don't need one of these as well...anyone? Bueller?
Listen at 1:54 - 1:59 with your eyes closed... people might not think you're watching a snare video... ;)
I suppose Mike would select the “ Brooklyn Standard “. now...🙂
True. The one, and then the next one, etc. Ha!
He actually prefers the 14x5
What shoes and purses are for women, snares and cymbals are for drummers. It's just that simple. So next time my chick wants a new purse or shoes I don't want to hear her nag about my new snare. Endo--story
Well said--lol
'What will your favorite snare be?" *Mike hit the first one* "... Dear Lord"
My wallet : Don't you dare. Me : Just TRY to stop me. My wife : No you can't. Me : We'll see about that!
Since this video was made, Mike said he actually preferred the 5” version of this, but it wasn’t there on the day..
Mr. “ Brooklyn Standard “..
that snare wasn't even out when they made this video...
jermss
The Standard is good, but you can’t beat this bronze
Absolutely love it..
@@roybeckerman9253 it does sound fantastic. I have the solid aluminum but bronze is definitely my favorite shell.
jermss
Just a bit expensive, so I bought the cheaper Tama SLP bronze...not as good, but nice value for money.
@@roybeckerman9253 those are nice snares! I bought a used Ludwig bronze supra for a price i couldnt refuse and i love it
