As I’m watching this I am literally listening to our pup, who came home today, yipping and crying, howling and keeping everyone awake. But I know for a fact it gets better.
I've been very lucky with my Lab pup. She slept through the night the first week with no crying. Only time I had issues is when she started having loose stool. THEN I was up most the night caring for her. Thank goodness the vet was able to help me with the loose stool. She is now 13 weeks old and well behaved. Even loves the snow here in Wisconsin.
Just brought my Pudelpointer pup home 3 days ago and it has been getting better. I threw an unwashed T-shirt that I wore for 2 days in her crate so she has my scent with her all night and her crate is next to my bed. Expect a potty break at least a time or two during the night but she has not gone potty in the crate yet, so that's a good thing. I agree you need to practice "Tough Love" to get thru this period but it will get better.
Awesome video! We just brought home a lab puppy and this is exactly what we needed. Just finished up night six, the last few days it’s taken her less than five minutes to settle in, and even less time to settle after the middle of the night bathroom outings. At first we were super overwhelmed by how hard she freaked out but after watching this video it was easier to commit. It was definitely worth the struggle!
This video is a godsend. Our 8 week retriever is already used to the crate at night. Night 1: I made the mistake of covering the crate with a sheet. He cried a lot Night 2: Lost the sheet. Cried 5 mins, slept. Night 3: Slept through the night. We slept too...finally!!! You guys rock!!

This was great! Thanks for the advice! I just brought home an 8 week old Picardy Spaniel puppy on Sunday and let him sleep with me on night one.. cut him some slack... but we just went through night 1 of sleeping in the crate and it was exactly like this! Potty before bed, pee 1:30am, pee and poop 4:30am, up for the day at 6am. Onto night 2 tonight! Thanks!
Good info. Having the dog moans throughout were tough just because I’m lying next to my dog’s crate watching this video and I don’t want to disturb my dog!!
We’ve even slept with the crate on the bed the first night. Second night, crate right next to me so I could put my fingers on crate. Third night, slept fine in crate with no human touching. Eventually, about 10 days later, moved crate in perfect corner spot of our bedroom. Only one night of whining.
You guys give great tips. Just got my 9 week old GSP. He's doing the same thing at night. Listening to his cues and he goes out does his thing and went back to sleep with little crying. It helped covering his crate with a sheet and it helped a lot as well. Love all your videos and looking forward to training my gsp with them.
hey greetings from Australia. I will be getting a new GPS puppy in two weeks. I have trained puppies before as my choice of dog has always been German Shepherds. I have never done crate training so have enjoyed your videos. I am an 'old dog' 70 that needs to learn all over again as back in the day it was check chains an ignore the bad behaviour reward the good. I am so looking forward to working with her Tessa or Tess for short within your expert training videos. Loved your first video on bringing puppy home working straight away on light pressure approach with muzzle to stop nipping and the calm and measured approach to nail clipping. I have never attempted nail clipping as I was always frightened of cutting the wick and making a bad response to having nails clipped so this video was great. One issue for me though is that where I live, albeit rural with many wallabies, wombats, my chickens, I had not intention of hunting with her. I know that is what she was bred to be but how will I satisfy that very natural urge to hunt. I am active so will make sure there is plenty of exercise happening. Would love to be a member but your costs are in USD so how would I fare? Once again thank you for these great training videos very much appreciated. I have taken note of all the things I should buy before we bring her home. She will be 8 weeks by then
@@StandingStoneKennels you guys are awesome. One day I will tell you an awesome story on how you guys helped me train my first ever bird dog! Me and my wife love all of your work and dedication! Thanks!
Thanks! Just brought my new GSP puppy home from the breeder. Thanks to you and your videos, i cant say night 1 went perfect, but i sure knew what to expect and how to deal. Thanks!
Thank you so much for making this video. We just got our first puppy and this video helped us get through our first night. We stayed strong that first night and no more crying already by night 2!
Just added to previous comment never done clicker training either do you click first to get attention and then treat or after the wanted behaviour click then treat
Thanks for the video. Night 1 done with our new lab pup - 8 weeks. He cried all night but about an hour. Dry crate though. Here’s to a better night 2. 🥱
Perfect timing on this video! We collect our pup next Friday and I just showed this video to my children to prepare them for the potential crying. Thank you so much for all your awesome vids.
Thank you for sharing guys. Just picked up our 8 week old black lab 2 days ago. Started charging the clicker immediately. Gonna start crate training in 3 days.
It is week three with our GSP pup. She also settled in about 3 days.. well, maybe 4. Also, her worst performance only lasted about 25 minutes. We started with her crate within 5 feet of where we slept. problem with puppy crate training is she got my internal clock changed so now I wake up briefly at 4am before "sleeping in" until 6:00. My life before puppy was always get up at 7:30. So, a bit of an adjustment. But... my wife teases that she made me sign a 12 page contract before she agreed to get the pup. I have to honor my contract even if that involves a new 6am wakeup. :-)
Guys I got my puppy at 8 weeks and she’s now at 12 weeks…I’ll tell you the first 2-3 weeks was hard but dang I know now when i put her in there at night she will not make a sound… Big tip take them to places that allow pets and put them in their crate on the way there…if they aren’t vaxed put them in the shopping cart and I’m telling you it will make tremendous help..when I started putting her in her crate wherever I went she started to understand it wasn’t so bad and now she’s a crate angel..it gets better but my goodness I would be lying if I said it wasn’t the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’m so glad I did it
Hey thank you for these videos it's so nice to hear from people who do this all the time. We just brought home a new Brittany and are super excited to train him and your videos have been a great help. Quick question, if we're using the clicker for other training to reinforce good behavior, do we use the clicker & treat when they let us know they need to go outside?
This soooooooo worked for my guy. 4wks old 5 wk tomorrow. German shepherd and collie mix. We are only doing a few hours at a time. I think that his age.
thats great but i think you may have just got lucky, i mean your strategy is golden but the fact that pup slept though since day 3 could be also the dog and not the strategy 100%. I am doing the exact same routine for two weeks now with my new draht and she is still getting us up twice and peeing in the crate between going out. granted my dog is only 10 weeks old right now. love your videos please keep them coming
This is the standard plan that we use with all of our dogs! Some of them take more days some of them take less days but the plan is still the same. Thanks for watching!
Our GSP puppy was born last week- 7 weeks to go! What size puppy kennel is that? I know its a Roughland- just trying to find out the size. Love the channel!
Yawa question: hello kat and Ethan I am a huge fan of your channels and love the updates on Instagram. My family and I will be getting our first GSP this April and we are so excited. My husband and I are nervous as to how we introduce and train our puppy and our kids to get along and not jump/bite? What can we do now to prepare our 5, 4, and 1 year old? Thanks again!
Thanks ! This one comes in just at the right time as we’re picking up puppy at the end of the month. Would you suggest to start off the 1st night in a different room ? This is our idea at the moment...
We're picking up our Weimaraner puppy next week, the timing on this video is perfect. Our puppy is going to be dog #2 in the house, and dog #1 sometimes sleeps in our bed, and sometimes sleeps in his crate in a different room. While he prefers to sleep in the bed, he goes to his crate without hesitation when I queue him . I saw in a previous comment you suggest trying what you're hoping for as an end goal, which for us would be to have them both sleep in their individual crates in a second room, but does this change when there's another dog in the mix? I don't want the puppy to annoy dog #1 all night, or even worse, have the puppy's whining and crying rub off on dog #1, who while he was crate trained pretty easily, tends to be easily distracted and quick to vocalize his displeasure (or excitement, anticipation, wants, needs, etc...he likes to talk). Thoughts?
I don’t think you should have any issues with the pup annoying the older pup. :) Also yes try the area you are going to plan as an end goal first!! Thanks for watching!
I would recommend trying where you plan for it to work out. If y’all struggle make an adjustment. Possibly to your room and then move gradually back to where your end goal is!
Hello i need tips for a 4 week old. A woman was giving shih tzu puppies away. I immediately started on puppy formula. I’m on to step 2 & I’m trying to find a way to train him. He doesn’t pee in bed he’s in a play open most of the day with puppy pads all over. Please i know 4 weeks is very young to be away from mom but i promise he is well taken car of now. She was feeding him adult food & he had watery poop. Soo note he has healthy firm poop. I just need tips should i start create training now?
Hi! We love your videos! We have a 9 week old GSP, we are crate training her and she is doing good at staying quiet but she is going pee in her kennel at night and not crying to let us know she needs out. What do we do? We know you guys don’t recommend alarms so how should we go about getting her to stop going potty in her kennel when she doesn’t cry to be let out? Thanks for all your help!
Our 9 week old GWP pup is the same. She doesn’t cry in the night but pees in her kennel. Kennel is just big enough for her to turn around. I feel bad - hoping she will just learn to hold it as she grows. Any suggestions?
Hello standing stone kennels , have watched a lot of your videos always good content! Getting a puppy in 2weeks . I’m going to crate train . Will it work to crate train with the pup in a separate room than the bed room close enough to here the cry but not net to the bed ? What are your thoughts ?
We love your videos. What do we do if we have an adult dog a seven-year-old GSD he sleeps on the floor in the room with us? We are two flights up stairs. Should we let the puppy sleep in the crate downstairs with our other dog with a baby monitor? We have a Drahthaar coming this weekend. Thinking about doing your interactive video program
Hello! My dad sent me to check y'all out, as I am anticipating a new pup in about 4 months. A recommendation from him means you're better than good, so I've subscribed, and look forward to watching your videos. It's been 8.5 years since I've added a new puppy addition. That sound was a laughable reminder! Family has had GSPs my whole life, but this is my first, as my son has taken up the family's hunting tradition. With my previous (non-hunting) dogs that initially cried in a crate, Ive covered with a dark sheet to block off light and distraction, which helped. Are there reasons that covering the crate should be avoided? I also used verbal suggestion when placing in the "kennel". At this stage of the party, is that a pointless, or unreccomended, endeavor? Thank you!
YAWA QUESTION: My 6 month old golden retriever has trouble sometimes with the release cue "Okay" unless I am making him wait for his meals. Especially with his teenage mind telling him to stop listening to us. No matter if I try to get him excited, coax him with his food, or use his collar to guide him off his place board, he just lays down. Do you have any tips for getting a dog to release from "kennel"?
Thank you for your videos! We’re surprising our 7 yr old with a GSP puppy in 2 weeks. My question is does the size of the crate matter? We have an old crate from our old dog but it’s for a medium sized dog. Thanks guys!
Thanks for watching! Yes having an appropriate sized crate matters! It will help for crate and potty training to have a crate your puppy is comfortable in and can stand up and lay down, but not a lot of extra room to play or go potty in!
It appears you don't have anything in the crate for her to lay on, is this so she is not tempted to play or chew on it and do you introduce a bed or something later for her to lay on? thanks for all the videos great help
I have one that is just constantly vocal when separated from us. If she can see us or is in her crate she is yowling. She always had quiet time away from us from the start and just never caught on. 4 months old now
I have a 12 week old lab pup we just brought home. Tonight makes night 2. She was quiet the first night, woke up about 2am, went potty and right back to bed, stayed asleep until about 6am. No whining, no crying, not a peep except for potty time. Tonight she cried for about 45 minutes straight. I went to move her kennel, and the poor thing had worked herself up so much she vomited. Took her out for another potty break, she did her thing, moved her kennel right next to the bed, and she still cried for another 45 minutes (I periodically stuck my hands in her kennel and soothed her, but the second the hand was out she was back to screaming. Went to sit down next to her kennel after 45 minutes of crying. She quieted down after 15 minutes of sitting there, until I got back into bed. She woke up and went right back to crying. I sat back down, moved my 5 year old gsp’s bed right in front of the kennel door so the pup could see her, and haven’t heard a peep since. It’s not 1:15 AM and I have to be up at 5 to work my GSP/get a training session in with the pup before I’m off to work. Stay resilient everyone! Find something that works, and build off that!
Have a 11 wk old GSP and for 3 nights he has barked and cried ALL night long in crate, was in another room and then in my room. Caved and let get in bed with me for 2 nights. Really need to get him crate trained. Please tell me something that might help. He does not sleep all night in the crate.
I wouldn’t expect a young puppy to be able to sleep in a crate all night long yet. But also letting them sleep in bed sets a precedent that will make crate training harder now.
We just got an 8 month old English Springer x English Pointer. He is an amazing calm boy, but he hates his crate as his past owners kept hi in it all day. We'd just like him to use it at night. Any tips?
Is there anything special you do during the day to help them sleep more at night? Keep them from napping, dinner early, play session before bed ect...? Thanks
YAWA QUESTION: I just started watching yall I usually watch stonnie dennis.. I have a 3 year old coonhound mix that is extremely energetic and very easily distracted which is making it hard to train.. we took him to training classes after running him for a hour and he would still be super hyper and distracted with other dogs there.. he is also not treat driven or play driven when trying to train he is so focused on other stuff.. do you have any suggestions trying to train an older dog that is to distracted and energetic that doesn't have any good training yet?
Do puppies and older dogs for that matter need something soft to lay on in the crate or is just the plastic bottom fine? I don't want puppy to chew up their bed. Or do I just need to focus on redirecting puppy to chew on appropriate things if they chew their bed?
Few notes. I think giving people the expectation that 15 minutes and up is out of the ordinary is a bit misleading. Some peoples puppies will cry for hours, 15 minutes would be a god send for most people in this situation. Also, for those who are watching this while trying to be quite or near their puppy who finally fell asleep maybe don’t put the sound of a wailing puppy in the background of a lot of the video. Great tips though!!
I like how they show a puppy crying for 15 min 😂 that’s a walk in the park. Show us how to deal with an hour or more even after fed, pee, poop and played.
But what if you don't care, or want the dog to sleep in the bed? What's the downside? The only downside I've ever heard is that the puppy might be injured by the person rolling over on them. But that isn't an issue with many people who aren't restless sleepers. So is there any other reason to not let the dog sleep with you in the bed?
Great question! We recommend crate training so that your dog is comfortable in a crate! Being comfortable in a crate will help them travel safely, kennel at a boarding or training facility and it will ultimately help keep your puppy and your stuff safe when you can’t supervise them!
Oh boy I am stressed out I just brought home an 8 week old GSP she has menup all night. I have also put her in the crate during the day and she will not stop barking I only let her out to go potty and she would go than I put her back and she continued barking for gours it's been 2 days I'm loosing it. Can you recommend anything I have watch several of your videos but it's getting painful please help
I'm going to be picking up 2 8 week old gsp's and have never crate trained any of our pups before. is it going to be easier for them , and myself, if I keep them together in say a slightly larger crate or would the general rule on this is both in separate crates.
Last night was night three. I've been sleeping on the couch since our bedroom is upstairs. We start out in the kennel, but after we go out he ends up laying with me 🤦🏻♀️ Have a ruined him already!?
What about a kennel regression? Is that a thing? Our 15 week old was doing great but last night and today she has resister the kennel by whining and crying for LONG periods of time. Super confused.
Kennel regressions can definitely happen! Especially at that age because puppies are getting more bold and confident and need more training time to fulfill both their physical needs from an exercise standpoint, and also mental stimulation to keep them challenged and from getting bored! A tired puppy is a happy puppy!
YAWA question: Hey, I have a 9.5 week old GWP that I plan to upland/waterfowl hunt with. He is already doing great with the clicker and cues. As he gets older, I’ve been told to train primarily for upland first so he doesn’t lose his pointing instinct, etc. Is this true? If so, when would I introduce more of the retrieving/waterfowl aspect to his training? Thanks, love your videos!
I'm a light sleeper, so if I get woken up for too long I may not be able to fall back asleep. If I turn on a light and read, is that going to throw off the puppies sleep? My GSP comes home in 3 weeks.
Yes it is in the beginning! That is how they are communicating to you that they need to potty! As young puppies they don’t have a lot of bladder control yet and can’t hold it for as long as an older dog!
What cues do you use when the puppy wakes up at night, if they cry are you supposed to wait or let them out to potty? Is it just after putting htem back in that you wait to let them out?
We don't use keys for inside the crate, we also wait for them to calm down before letting them out to go potty as long as it has been a reasonable amount of time.
In the Crate / kennel training video 2 with Fox it seems as if she hasn’t seen a crate before, but at 10 weeks should have been sleeping in a crate for about two weeks. So, are these different experiences when you introduce the bigger crate that she doesn’t want to get into? My pup is 10 weeks and does NOT want to kennel in a crate. I hope you still glance at new questions.
Brought home our 8 week old Havanese, Maggie on January 8th. We have not slept since then. She does not like her crate. We did some things wrong, when she kept crying and crying we let her out of the crate, took her outside, put her back in the crate and the crying went on for hours and hours. I then went and slept on the couch with her. I have since learned from your video and others that I have watched that that was not the thing to do. Trying to correct that. We put her in her crate last night around 10:30 PM, after we took her out to pee and poop, It took her a good hour or so to calm down some, for about 20 minutes, and then the crying started. She was taken out 3 times last night. Everytime we put her back in the crate the crying starts again. She settled down a couple of times but for very short periods of time. Should we continue to do this. I put her in her crate during the day, to try to get her used to it, but she wants nothing to do with it. Help.
I have a 9 week old black lab I got him at 8 weeks still refuses to get in crate I’ve tried placing treats in and around the crate as well as food. Still won’t go in, any tips?
Work your GSP more. I need to run mine about 20 miles before she gets truly tired out. Get a pair of roller blades or a bike and let them run. GSP’s are working dogs, a couple walks per day to them is like you having a cup of coffee. Just enough to wake them up and get their brain engaged. Spend an hour every night letting your pup exercise. I try and vary rollerblading, exploring forested areas around the neighborhood, playing fetch in a field, makeshift agility courses (empty parking lots work great, lots of obstacles to weave in and out of, railings work well as low clearance obstacles, bring a couple small plastic boxes and you’ve got a platform to jump on/over, etc). Engaging the brain while exercising yields better results!
We’ve been trying to work on crate training during the day. What do you do with a dog that won’t calm down and just rest. I take her for her morning walk, and when she goes in the crate she will cry for 6 hours, we let her out every couple hours for a potty break but put her back in and she just keeps going. Any advice?
Well crate training my Great Dane puppy is not going super well. I flew to Oklahoma to pick her up and then got trapped there for 3 days due to the snow storm back on the east coast, so the first 3 nights she slept in bed with me in the ultra cozy hotel king. We both enjoyed it but I knew it would be hell when we got home.... and it is lol. I won't lie night one I couldn't deal with the crying so I scooped her up into bed with me again hoping I would wake up when she stirred around to pee. I woke up when she woke me up to help her get back on the bed AFTER peeing lol. So I suppose at least she didn't want to pee on my bed!! Anyway, fully realize this is all my fault but now letting her cry it out when I know she's fine and it is getting easier for her to settle down I will say. Don't delay crate training if you can help it!!! also this is a nice reminder that every dog is different, my last dane took to her crate sleeping through the night immediately so I had not not really prepped for a hard time w crate training.
Thank you for your advice it has helped me out a lot! I have a question, I constantly take my 9 week puppy outside to potty and stay out there for like 30 minutes and as soon as I come inside she pees in the floor or in her crate and It happens all the time. I have been trying to make her potty outside for 2 days but she never potty outside. What should I do ? I would highly appreciate your help!
When do you guys start crating your new puppies during the daytime for little stints? My new lab pup is doing fantastic in her crate at night, but cries a ton when left in there during the day. Wondering if I should wait a little bit to start daytime crating until she is more acquainted to her new environment? (She's been home 5 days) Or just let her cry it out? Love for your videos!!

Big tip take them to places that allow pets and put them in their crate on the way there…if they aren’t vaxed put them in the shopping cart and I’m telling you it will make tremendous help..when I started putting her in her crate wherever I went she started to understand it wasn’t so bad and now she’s a crate angel..it gets better but my goodness I would be lying if I said it wasn’t the hardest thing I’ve ever done but I’m so glad I did it
So glad you were success! Bring your pup everywhere in a crate is a great idea and helps tremendously with socialization!
Love your videos..... the eye guards on that muley got me distracted! 😄
Haha 😂 thanks for watching!
Night 2 is tonight, super ruff first night, but didn’t give in! Did wind up getting up at 4:30 but oh well!
thats great but i think you may have just got lucky, i mean your strategy is golden but the fact that pup slept though since day 3 could be also the dog and not the strategy 100%.
That minute of puppy crying noises was the most excruciating minute of my life 😭😭
Great vid! Will help for sure.
Thanks for watching!!!
Thanks for the realistic video!!!!
Thank you for so much direction
You’re welcome 🙏🏻 thanks for watching!
Thanks for your vlogs
Thanks for watching!
Our GSP puppy was born last week- 7 weeks to go! What size puppy kennel is that? I know its a Roughland- just trying to find out the size. Love the channel!
These guys are awesome!
Thank you
Yawa question: hello kat and Ethan I am a huge fan of your channels and love the updates on Instagram. My family and I will be getting our first GSP this April and we are so excited. My husband and I are nervous as to how we introduce and train our puppy and our kids to get along and not jump/bite? What can we do now to prepare our 5, 4, and 1 year old? Thanks again!
Great video, guys. Thanks!!! one question: What do you think about the "Puppy Apartment" ?
Thanks ! This one comes in just at the right time as we’re picking up puppy at the end of the month. Would you suggest to start off the 1st night in a different room ? This is our idea at the moment...
I would try what you are hoping for as an end goal. Then you can adjust as needed to help be successful!
@@StandingStoneKennels thank you and the goal is for Leeloo to sleep in our bedroom on its bed. So we'll train her in her crate in our bedroom at 1st.
I now,it's a good time
Thanks for tuning in!!
This was so helpful! Thank you so much :)
Thanks for the info!
Hey guys, really like your videos. What if we don't plan to have the crate in our room?
I would recommend trying where you plan for it to work out. If y’all struggle make an adjustment. Possibly to your room and then move gradually back to where your end goal is!
1st night was horrible , only slept for 30 min ! Day 2 and 3 slept through the whole night in a diff room in his crate :)
Great adjustment! Keep up the great work!
@@StandingStoneKennels yes my 8 yr old brother switch shifts the first night laying on the floor next to crate lol
How close is the crate to y’all?
@@StandingStoneKennels she is probably 10 feet in our closet with the closet door open
Thank you!
Thanks 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
YAWA QUESTION: My 6 month old golden retriever has trouble sometimes with the release cue "Okay" unless I am making him wait for his meals. Especially with his teenage mind telling him to stop listening to us. No matter if I try to get him excited, coax him with his food, or use his collar to guide him off his place board, he just lays down. Do you have any tips for getting a dog to release from "kennel"?
Love gsps
100 percent agree on that one!
4 months old now
That sounds a little more involved... we would love to help. Hit us up at Pateron.com/standingstonekennels
Sounds like a rough night! So glad you presented and found something that worked!
My puppy finally stopped whining then the part of trix whining at night came on and he heard it and started again😭😂
Thanks
Should I put anything in the crate with my 7 week old lab like a toy or blanket or no and how often could he be in the crate during the day
YAWA QUESTION: I just started watching yall I usually watch stonnie dennis..
Aww😢
I like how they show a puppy crying for 15 min 😂 that’s a walk in the park. Show us how to deal with an hour or more even after fed, pee, poop and played.
Hello Guys!!
I read that labs bladders are only good for 2 hours so you have to take them out every 2 hours through the night until they get older. Is this right?
Thanks for watching. As for the 2 hour rule.. not going to say I would trust that source fully.
What about potty training a BEAGLE !? Heard they could be pretty tough !
Or I got a notification you uploaded a video
Glad you are subscribed!! We appreciate you!
Our navhda trainer told us the same
I'm a light sleeper, so if I get woken up for too long I may not be able to fall back asleep. If I turn on a light and read, is that going to throw off the puppies sleep? My GSP comes home in 3 weeks.
When they “get up” and they are barking is it okay to let them out to potty?
Help.
How many nights would you leave it next to your bed before you moved it back to its original place?
YAWA Question: #1 when do you move the crate out of your room? #2 Is it okay to start day one with the crate out of the room?
I have a 9 week old black lab I got him at 8 weeks still refuses to get in crate I’ve tried placing treats in and around the crate as well as food. Still won’t go in, any tips?
Hi! Did you keep her crate in your room permanently? Is she able to sleep in the crate at night on her own?
Do you have two cages won for night and one for day
We do have multiple crates!
What time in the evening did you feed the pup ?
YAWA: Help! When I put my 10 month old GSP in his crate all he does is scratch the door. Is there a way I can discourage this?
Great advice!!!
What time did you put the pup in the crate?
Do you put her back in the crate at 5:00 after going potty? What if we don’t start out day that early?
You line things up with your schedule! You puppy will learn what life is like at your house! Thanks for watching!
If you pee outside pup will associate what needs to be done
Is hiding kibbles in crate good for crate training ?
When do you guys start crating your new puppies during the daytime for little stints? My new lab pup is doing fantastic in her crate at night, but cries a ton when left in there during the day. Wondering if I should wait a little bit to start daytime crating until she is more acquainted to her new environment? (She's been home 5 days) Or just let her cry it out? Love for your videos!!
This depends on a lot! Where is the crate at? What kind of activity is going on in the house? How much exercise? How much training time?
I'm getting tired just watching this, lol!
Crate training can be exhausting!
How long is too long for a puppy to cry after they have gone poop and pee?

We are on night 9 and still struggling. We have not given in and have not put her in bed with us. and still not sleeping hardly at all
So sorry to hear you were struggling! Crate training can be tough! Hope it got better! Good for you for not giving up!
My dogs sleep on the bed with me, so its so hard to crate them at night. I know I have to with my new puppy to avoid damage to things while I am asleep and prevent any mishaps that could harm her. ☹
What if you want your dog to sleep in bed forever with you? Can we just skip the crate training at that point?
If you never want to crate your dog, then you can let them sleep in bed with you.
Thanks for the reply!
hi I am geting a dog soon
Good luck!
