Mike you can give Joe my number if he has a general question. While it would just be general information unless he has full check in hand, sometimes things can quickly turn ugly!
Glad he got refunded. Hopefully, that stealership receives a hard lesson via lost business.
I agree with you Mike. Until that car is onsite he should be able to get his money back. That’s just pure greed. They all try to bully the little guy.
Nop, “Once the order is placed and accepted for production” you’re locked in.
@@Ob1Chosen1 Unless you're building a crazy color combination that requires GM override, the dealer SHOULD give you your deposit back. Rick Conti addressed this just this last weekend. Stuff happens. Jobs, health, etc. I ordered my custom build C8 Z51 with NCM delivery 2 years ago with no deposit. I did have to sign something I remember about the museum delivery saying if I wanted to back out, I would be responsible for shipping to the dealer or something like that. Dealers keeping deposits on vehicles that they can otherwise turn around and sell with little to no problem is greed and most folks are sick of that.
@@AirRyanTX Yeah I agree with you on that, all dealerships work differently. I did not put a penny down for my new built 23 vette but the dealerships by my house wanted $500 down and another none refundable 5% of the purchase order once the order is placed.
Mike, I am glad Joe was able to get his money back, but wow what an ordeal! This community does stick together, and I have seen other channels do this as well. HPO, StreetSpeed717, and Racer X come to mind. It just seems to me that as a dealership, you would want to be careful of the optics in a scenario like this. The next time we talk I have an offline question for you on this topic, but nothing that is time critical. Thanks so much for the video and content, as well as what you do for the community. P.S. Happy Super Tuesday! 🙏💪🇺🇸
Good for you Joe & Mike. I think one of the best ways to clean up slimy dealerships is to publicize their dishonest behavior. They will soon learn how important a good reputation is. Great job of getting the word out on these guys!!
That dealer was totally wrong !
I put 2500 on 2023 in stock ,but wasn’t sure this if I wanted this particular vehicle . After 48 hours I was refunded the whole amount .
Found another c8 with the spec I wanted !
Keep up the great work

Pretty crazy Mike, iam glad Joe is going to get his money back!! Great vlog as always Mike!!👍🏽
There is an old saying..."penny wise and pound foolish". That applies to this dealership. I am sure they will lose business as a result of the way they handled this situation.
I’m glad he got his money back, but there’s an awful lot of throwing around the word ‘should.’ I’d like to see the contract that he signed and see what it says about the deposit. The dealership feels pretty strongly that they are in the right. Showing the contract would be the correct judgment.
You make a good point. The guy likely didn’t get anything in writing concerning a “reasonable wait time” - so he started crying when he discovered what the word deposit really means.
Good job highlighting this dealership. I hope that future customers consider other options and maybe the business will change their ways. The other point is as the economy becomes more and more anemic, this will put huge downward pressure on dealers and so everyone should watch out. There's some great opportunities ahead for those who are patient. Just look how many dealers are having turn downs of ordered cars. This is
Going to get more
Common.
Don't mess with the Family. (Insert Italian Mafia voice here) LoL
Thank you to the #corvettestrong community! Thanks Mike for going to bat for the little guy.
Glad he got his money back.
Deposits are always 100% refundable.
I am next on the list to order my C8 at my local dealership. My dealership is not asking for a $2000 deposit until they receive a Z51 allocation. Being new to the process does this sound in line or correct compared to other dealerships?
Joe
Don’t fool yourself Lawyers letter very effective especially if lawyer knows consumer laws!
Hurray for Joe!
OC motivator does a lot of videos on this topic but gets bombarded by salesman in the comments
I really hate dealership,They not honest and always trying to scam customers.
Pretty easy, BOYCOTT DeNooyer Holland, Mi.
You still have the Camaro?
What do you people think a deposit is and what its purpose is? It’s money you put down as a commitment to buy. The idea is - you are going to have to forfeit the deposit - if you decide to back out of the deal. The dealership is completely right. People like you have been conditioned that deposits are always refundable for any reason and that’s not true. And just because a lot of dealers refund the money doesn’t change the terms of a deposit deal. In fact, if it’s refundable it is not actually a deposit. All a refundable deposit is - is a demonstration to the dealer that you have the financial ability to come up with a certain amount of money. Here’s the bottom line - this person was stupid; they put down a large deposit, and were not smart enough to ensure that if no car showed up by a specific date - then - they could back out and get all the deposit back. This guy got impatient because he didn’t have enough sense to structure a proper written contract covering his time issues - and then wanted a get out jail free card because he changed his mind. A typical snowflake millennial cry baby is what I see - not a bad dealer. If this would have went to court he would have lost and paid the dealer’s attorney’s fees. Btw - I have nothing to do with car dealers - just a person that stands behind their commitments and deposits! It’s called integrity.
That's why you buy at auction and be your own warranty. .
Thanks to immigration...
Sooner or later all the hispanic shops will be able to work on them and their way cheaper..
And do the same replacement quality of parts...
All the dealerships are good for is computer reprogramming and coding software installations..
You should be very careful Mr UA-camr. The dealer could sue the crap out of you for your false accusation in the title. I.e. stealing money…
True. It might be a good idea to check with legal counsel prior to posting critical videos. However, as Mike explained this dealer seems to have lost their way.
If you were smart in the first place, you would not even have this problem… Why would you put $5000 down unless you had it in writing that you would receive a full refund? Come on people you know that dealerships are always trying to rip people off! Why would you even put $5000 down or even $500. Stop writing checks like this! Lol. Smarten up. Silliness.😂
So I am going to take C8 advice from someone who drives a base model Camero? Also he looks ridiculous with that patch of hair under his bottom lip.
if you want a light switch with no soul or personality, go buy a Tesla
How do people keep having these types of issues with dealerships? It’s always the same idiots having the same issues. The dealership is in business to make money. It’s beyond foolish to think otherwise. Seemingly some consumers are not aware of this. Not the brightest.
They never got the Vette they were out 0 dollars. Bad customer service. I tried to order one at Denooyer of Holland. When they told me a 5k none refundable deposit. I told them to pound sand . I ordered a Z06 1k deposit fully refundable for Denooyer in Kalamazoo was to come in in October or November came in First week of December prices were starting to drop on them told them did not want it any more got refund same day . Will be purchasing my Zr1 from them great dealer . PS was getting it for MSRP
@@allenvandewege1927 Exactly. I would do the same with any dealer who wanted a deposit and put me on a list that has zero transparency. I just think sometimes consumers are just as much as the problem as said dealers. I’ve never had any issues over buying a car from any dealer. It takes both parties.
You avoided the problem because you have some brains and the guy in question here obviously does not. The dealer was straight up with you and you didn’t like the terms and declined the deal - no issues.
