      I've daily driven my C7 for the last 3 years. No real issues, and I love it. I couldn't imagine daily driving anything else. Just give the car a few minutes to warm up before launching out of your driveway. Oil life is affected by temperature. I take short trips, so that means lower oil life, generally. For the winter months I use Michelin Pilot Alpin tires. There are plenty of days where the only shining moment is being able to go out for a drive, so I enjoy every moment of it.

    I’ve been daily driving a Corvette for the last 25 years, since C5 in 1997. I had a 97, 2000, 04, 08, 2015 C7 Z06, 2021 C8 Stingray, currently daily driving a 2023 C8 Z06. Top of the list for the 2025 ZR1 or Zora which ever comes first.

    I daily drove a 16’ Z06 when I was in south Florida and it had 62k when I traded it in. I got more than I paid for it and fast forward to now, I’m in the Tampa area and got the C7 ‘itch’ again. I now have a 17’ Grand Sport and love it! Rainy season just started but I can tolerate a dirty car if it lets me drive it year round!

    I respectfully disagree with Con #1, I get 20mpg city and closer to 30 highway in our C7 GS. For having a 465 horsepower V8 that I disabled V4 mode on, that is phenomenal to me. The biggest con for us has been the "maintenance" costs. The wheel cracks are #1. I'm not a wheel person, I don't buy aftermarket wheels. Was all but forced to when we broke a rear wheel due to the casting defects known by GM. Then magically the A/C compressor and belt tensioner needed replacing, both known issues for premature failure, yet they were perfectly fine right up until the warranty expired. And then tires. If you daily drive in sub 50 degree temps, it really wears the Michelins out much faster. Not to mention they stopped making them for however long, which made it almost impossible to get tires for the car. Ended up having to put a smaller size/non ZP tire on until the others came back in stock, complete waste of 1,200 bucks. If you daily drive, PPF is almost a must to keep the front end in reasonable condition because like you said, it's very low and gets nailed by everything. It does its job but it sure isn't cheap when it gets torn and needs replaced multiple times. But to your point, it's the smiles per gallon. It is definitely a fun car and really easy on the eyes lol. But, it's getting replaced with a TRX come next week!

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  Рік тому +2

      While I agree that I personally think the Corvette gets pretty good gas mileage, not everyone would agree those numbers are "good" since some people want 40+. With that said, congrats on the TRX!!! You're going to love it! I know I love mine!

    • @pchappy2.0
      @pchappy2.0 Рік тому

      @@HorsePowerObsessed I totally see your point, I guess what I meant to say was within the performance community, the Vette to me is one of the better on the market for mileage. Those wanting 40+ mpg aren't really in the same conversation and mindset as us lol. They can keep their EVs and MPGs, like you said, I want smiles per gallon!! I think we are both saying the same thing, just a little different way. And thanks buddy, I wish I could keep them both but reality is it doesn't make sense for us right now. Keep up the great content man!! If you ever open a shop near Charlotte NC, I'm there!

    I drove my first Corvette every day. It was a brand new 1963 split window Sting Ray. I drove it almost 50 miles each way to school in Baltimore. Bigest problem was they were so rare that I caused a traffic problem wherever I went. That and I kept getting pulled over by police who questioned a kid was driving such a car.
    I also drove my second Sting Ray daily. That included to work and dates. I also drove from Maryland to Thompson, Conn. for my first SCCA driver's school. Later I drove it to every SCCA regional of that year to win the DC B Production regional championship. Only time I towed it was to Watkins Glen for a National. Then back to driving to/from track. Eventually in following seasons towed to SCCA Nationals and IMSA Camel GT races.

    Just hit 41,000 thousand miles on my C7 ZR1 and no issues so far, other than the fact I go through tires almost as fast as I do gas. >:} Note: I don't blame the car. One must be a realist. That said, the only concern I have is the fact the carbon fiber parts are no longer available since the manufacture is allegedly no longer in business. That's according to the Chevy dealer who I have perform various maintenance procedures. I change engine oil myself.

  • @JBsC6
    @JBsC6 Рік тому

    I daily drive my c8 z51 for about 32 months. I’ve been daily driving corvettes in the ny metro area for over two decades. Snow and rain is no big deal especially with the rear weight bias traction withe oem p4 s tires is fine. Previous front engine corvette benefit from snow tires. The c8 doesn’t need it.
    No downsides to daily driving corvettes.
    Why drive anything less?

  • @AverageTrackRat

    Owned 2 years not daily driven and on 3rd c7 ZR-1 front splitter ( aftermarket copies) they will be scraped & destroyed. Allocate at least 1000$ / year in repairs + paint. Etc. It's not for the faint of heart. There will be bad days

    You touched on it briefly but can you speak to driving this car in rainy or snowy conditions? I’ve heard from Vette owners - even experienced drivers - that the car will humble you and instill feel in you in less than ideal conditions.

    • @HorsePowerObsessed
      @HorsePowerObsessed  Рік тому

      Snow this car won't do much in unless you have really good snow tires and it isn't too deep because of how low it sits. However, in the rain, it's fine. Again just make sure you have decent tires on it. Rain has never been an issue for me with any of my Corvettes.
