  • I am working on my American Bladesmith Society Journeyman Smith rating and in order to achieve this my first task is to forge a knife capable of surviving the blade test. This test requires that your blade be able to cut a 1" thick hanging rope in once slice, chop through a 2x4 twice, shave hair off of your arm afterwards, and then be bent in a vice to 90 degrees without breaking.
In this video I make at test-test knife, just a general proof of concept to be destroyed in a test to see how it holds up, or if it fails, how and why so I can improve on the next iteration.

You have to be good friends with frustration to be a bladesmith, that's for sure!
