    I work in the shipping dept for Janus and it's pretty cool to see videos like this using the doors we build!

      Which one do I need for a 9 foot wide roll up door? There’s a huge gap up top that dirt and debris keeps blowing in and costing the inside of the garage.

      www.northshorecommercialdoor.com/ sells these draft stops online. You can probably ask them what you need for your particular application.

    Much appreciated. I am deciding on buying this seal. I think I will add an aluminum strip across it and under the screws to keep it all flat to the door rib with more even pressure than just the screws by themselves.

    A valuable video. Wish Janus provided instructions. I should back charge them for not providing a complete part (missing instruction)
    I saw another video where they attached it to the curtain. I like yours better!

      The top draft seal seems to work fine. I’d definitely go with the brush style for sides.

      @@farmboysgarage7595 I did go with brush style on the sides and rubber seal on top. Very glad I did. Thanks again

    I like the roll up doors , much better than tracks on the inside you have to support . The top seals a lot better than the sides .

      I definitely didn't want the other style even though they look better from the outside. Seems like a lot of wasted space when they are up. Hopefully these seals will do the job!

    This barn project is exciting. Really hope you start doing equipment repair/restoration videos again. I sorry about the tree falling on the shop and truck 🙁

    I see you have reflective insulation on the roll up door. What did you use to secure / adhere it to the door to keep it in place?

    Just finishing up my shop as well, I have the same doors and have been trying to figure out how to seal that gap, where did you get that seal from? Also have you installed garage door openers on your yet. If not let me know I will show yo an easy way to mount regular garage door openers, works awesome!

    Thanks for the pointer as I received the same rubber draft stop as you demonstrated. How did you insulate the inside of your Janus door? What about the side draft stop installation?

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  4 роки тому +1

      I ordered the doors insulated. It’s basically bubble wrap with a foil side. I posted the video on the side draft stop install but don’t waste your time. It’s junk.

    Don't the screw going thou the curtain interfere with the curtain rolling up and sandwiching tougher

      It came pre-insulated from the factory. It appears to be taped and stapled on.

    • @farmboysgarage7595

    • @mossman381
      @mossman381 4 роки тому +2

      @@farmboysgarage7595 You wouldn't think so but we have standard type doors. They need the tension springs released to get the bottom of the door away from the track to slide in the new seal. I think I am going to try and cut a small piece of the track out and pull the door out enough to slide a new seal in.

    Would self tappers be fine and do I need washers?

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  Рік тому

      If you're talking about TEK screws, I'd recommend using washers with them. The heads tend to be too small and will eventually rip through the rubber.

    Jay, does that thing fold when you raise the door all the way? And, did you do the insulation on the door itself, or did the installer? I need to insulate the door and do the draft stops. Thanks!

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  4 роки тому

      Alan, it's a drum style door so it rolls up on itself. The insulation was done at the factory. It's thin so it doesn't affect operation. It looks just like the foil/bubble wrap insulation they did on the top and sides of the building so it wouldn't be hard to add it to an existing door.

    How big is your building? What size doors are those? I made the mistake of putting three doors in that are only 8ft wide per door.. 8x12 in the middle and 8x8 on each side on a 30x30 building. Thanks for this video as I wondered what do do with the draft stops.. Noticed the other day I can see the ceiling from the outside if I stand real close to the door.

      Mine is a 40x40x12 and the doors are 10x10. I kinda wish now that I had just put one big door in the middle so I would've had more room on the side to put stuff.

    So 3/4” screw doesn’t go all the way thru the metal?

    • @farmboysgarage7595
      @farmboysgarage7595  3 роки тому +1

      The door is corrugated with an inner and outer skin. If you screw them in the raised part they will not penetrate the inner wall.

    Shouldn't you put it on the outside so it doesn't roll up in your door?

    • @drewlinton3472
      @drewlinton3472 Рік тому

      no, because the diameter of the drum grows as you roll the door up.
