Oh my goodness! I’m all choked up! Trains and canals! All of a sudden, I’m four again...as a little girl, I lived between the Basingstoke Canal and the London to Southampton railway line. I was fascinated by both. I would sit and watch the steam trains race by and to this day, the sound of British trains are a lullaby to me! The smell was lovely too. It was a sad day when a high fence was built and the trains became electric. The canal was always very quiet as it needed to be dredged. My brother and I played on the old locks. The canal was dredged in the ‘80s and is now fully operational. Sorry to ramble on. Your vlog was lovely, really lovely! The wildlife, scenery and that wonderful train ride. Thank you!
So lovely to hear your story. My dad and grandad both worked on that canal and railway. Ferrying cargo along canal to docks. Grandad wa secretary of local works club. My other grandad came from Ireland via Liverpool's dock yards to Croydon's docks to be engine stocker. They lived in railway cottages along railway. We could go to outback loo and watch trains at same time. Whole house rattled and shook even at night.
Several years ago my nephew, along with a couple of other train enthusiasts, bought and restored a Class 37 diesel loco. After they bought her they did some research around the loco’s number and found that she was actually called the Lady Diana Spencer! Andrew wrote to Earl Spencer to ask if they could put a nameplate back on the loco when she was restored. Earl Spencer gave his permission and she was renamed at Crewe a couple of years ago. She is chartered out for special trips. Andrew started like Jack as a volunteer at Crewe railway museum and now has a great job working with heritage engines.
Class 37s my FAVOURITE diesel loco!! We've got 2 in service at the GWR, the growlers, plus a 20 (very nice) amounget others, and don't the 37s GROWL!!!!👍👍
Guys this is one of your best! Have to say Jack is an impressive young man. Articulate, knowledgeable, great add to this week's show. What a treat to get a front seat ride. If I lived nearby it would be such a kick to work with the rail yard. Anyway, great job all. Nice diversion after such a krap week here in the States. Stay safe, looking forward to next week. Do more like this as you get the opportunity. Cheers
Absolutely loved this Vlog! I work in the rail industry myself. My Grandad worked on the railway all his life and got heavily involved in preservation at Tyseley in Birmingham and the Severn Valley Railway. He restored a steam locomotive GWR 4073 Class 7029 Clun Castle. For which he received an MBE. He's my role model and I miss him so much. This video made me think of fond memories I have of him and all the steam journeys we took together. Thank you. Carry on making amazing videos!
Brilliant vlog. Colin must be over the moon with his train experience, I know I would be. At 69 now, I still remember steam trains going past my house as a kid by about 100 yards. They used to bring coal to a local coal merchants along a branch line in Fife, Scotland before nasty Beeching got his hands on it. Love the canal stuff and history lessons. Stay safe.
Another spectacular sightseeing and history lesson from the Foxes. Collin, well done. You and Sean have a unique angle on your videos. Just watching the English countryside go by from a narrow boat is available in many other videos Collin, yours are very special because of the research you do on the history you pass through, and the wonderful historical photos descriptions of the activities. Thank you so much for your dedication and careful video editing. You produce a truly entertaining video for everyone to enjoy.

Just loved that bit of history about Brindley and the poem on the screen. Such an irony that it was water itself that did him in! Aww thanks!
Loved the adventure and train ride thanks guys!
Our pleasure!
Worried about the wet cold weather and Shaun’ coughing. But boats and trains on the same day is a treat!
Please stay safe and well
Shaun’s fine 👍🏻
I love your outtakes! So glad to see that you both are recovering well from Covid! Much love from Canada
Thanks so much!
We love your boat, something my husband as always wanted to own. He is a Skipper and volunteers on a narrowboat for mostly care homes, disabled. some people just hire it for a relaxing trip.Happy Cruising. Stay Safe. Les and Jeanette x
Cheers guys!
Colin you're smile after the experience on the trains is totally justified and I'm very jealous 😁 Good to see Shaun looking better! Hope you're both well.
Thanks 👍
We are in the California desert. So far today we have seen a dozen trains, some a mile long, with 4-6 diesel engines, passing each other. I keep pointing and saying TraAAAAinnnn!!
So glad that you had a brilliant day. Please wear hats and heavier jackets. You look cold! Have a great week. Hugs to Otis.
We're fine, honestly. We have about four layers on, so we're warm enough 👍🏻
Awesome show guys a much needed reprieve from the events here in the states :) thank you always puts a smile on my face :)
Our pleasure!
I think at this point Colin and Sean can make a video about anything and I would watch it! Good show you two!!
Aww, cheers!
Probably your best vlog ever 🏆
Aww, cheers, Steve!
Great episode. A few years ago I paid for lunch on their dining train for my parents as a birthday present. We thoroughly enjoyed it and I would recommend it.
Sounds awesome 👍❤️
Canal, trains and brass band music!
I've been waiting two years to do some brass band music! 😂
Hope it's not another 2 years!
You do have it right Colin nothing can beat a good old steamer the sounds the smells and the eco of the whistle when it’s in a deep valley I love it too and the foxy fans haha love that
Yeah, what a day too. Cheers Ben.
I bet your still smiling Colin... felt sorry for Shaun but then he had all those biscuits to entertain him 😝
Ah, he enjoyed the biscuits 👍🏻😂
@@FoxesAfloat glad to hear it ... great vlog as always.... entertaining and light .. exactly what’s needed in these horrendous times ... thanks again great job 🙏🙏
Loved it again. Well done boys. You both looked frozen , bless. Otis's appearance was very short? And hasn't he grown ❤️❤️
Oh very jealous of u Colin. I'm waiting to hear if I've got an interview for a train driver job at the moment. Hope u both had a great Christmas and happy new year.
This trip today was awesome!! Thank you! Otis is getting so big that it's getting easier for him to see over the top. Soo cute! 🐾💚
You are so welcome!
Very nice. The Eastleigh Loco was named after the small town my mother lives in. Eastleigh Hampshire.
Nice to be reminded of Eastleigh . We stayed there twice while delivering caravans to Southampton. A park called Little Ranch,or similar, and another with Diana in the bush. Lovely lady. Had super meals at Fishers Bend?. Nice memories for a homesick kiwi
It was! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
@@suethomson6013 The Little ranch is on the Portsmouth road. While i haven't visited for a while I've heard its still a nice place.
I also think you mean the Fishers Pond which is on the main road. One of the few dog friendly places if memory serves me right. Glad you enjoyed your stays there. Theres not much in the town but it has its charms :)
That was AMAZING!
Trains + Canals + Boat = Ecstacy!
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it x
What a WONDERFUL video! I love trains and hope someday to visit the UK and take some train trips. You both are the best----so pleased to see Shaun laughing, and Colin, your smile is the best! Happiest New Year to you both---can't wait for the next video!
Thank you very much!
My 2 favorite "hobos" running a train and Colin's cheeks are hurting. What a start to the weekend!
