Hello everyone, good viewing
You have a very very nice beard Mr Janisse
Will you also be remaking the 2019 movie kill count
Chucky is def a classic movie which aged like fine wine
@@Conquestx8499 he is redoing them all
It's so crazy how sweet behind the scenes are for a lot of horror movies. You'd expect it to be awful and scary but people are just nerding out together and falling in love and making lifelong friendships. It's genuinely so lovely.
Stanley Kubrick has entered the chat
As a general rule often people who allow themselves to work on dark shit in fiction are sweeter and kinder in the rest aspects of their lives. At least in my experience. I feel safer talking to people who enjoy horror and gore than those who insist in pure and sweet media only. Usually those have a higher chance of judging you or being cruel for no reason. With exceptions of course but you get the idea.
@@bradystafford7654 there's always an exception and that man is certainly one of them lol
@@silvermangawolfygirl I have that, also. Probably some catharsis in horror where you can let the demons out without actually doing anything damaging
@@silvermangawolfygirl it's like metal fans lol, they're usually so sweet lmao
Andy was such an iconic protagonist, seeing a kid beat this remorseless serial killer in a doll's body was BADASS.
“ I’m your friend to the end! “
“ this is the end. “
“This is the end, friend.”
@@EllieIsAFlop smart minds think alike
or I guess in this case smart minds think of the same thing to say I guess?
@@forkliftcertifiedguy7 yes I guess lol that’s my fav line and then “batter up, kid!”
“This is the end…friend!”
The scene with Andy crying against the door is SO SAD!! It gets me every single time. That baby had no business being so good there.
Word. Its hard to believe he was SIX years old! There's grown men that can't act that well lol
Trust me when I say I never cry at movies. I never get attached to characters, so the fact Andy’s tears made me well up is a marvel. Or maybe that's just my maternal instinct talking.
"because Chucky sounds gay" has probably got to be my new favorite sentence when out of context
imo chucky is probably the most consistant long horror franchise and the main reason is that they never feel like paycheck or obligation movies. theres always people involved that care
They also reside in a safe zone where the films can still be considered classics without being considered good movies. Even the first Friday The 13th film today is still considered a “technically bad” movie with its pacing and filming choices.
Couldn’t agree more!
Seed of Chucky?
@@Fedorah_Mccain it wasn’t that bad, kind of a weak movie but still funny
@@444riki nah that shit looked like 50 people took crack and produced some nonsense to fill up space 💀
Loving the running gag of Zoran trying to take James out so he can do more kill counts. This needs to keep going!
Agreed!
Yes!
So far Zoran has only failed twice, once in the Don't Breathe 2 one, and the one for Wolf Creek
@@erichfiedler1481 And Halloween Kills 😂😂
@@erichfiedler1481 “mission failed, we’ll get him next time”
His last line always scared me, and not just because it was legitimately creepy. It made me think about what happened to his soul coz we just watched it leave his Airbnb body 😱
Airbnb??😭
For real life that is a Airbnb body
Airbnbody?
Chucky has "arguably" the most consistent franchise in terms of quality, most popular horror slasher in terms of Name and Looks alone and is the one most general audiences point to when they think of a Horror Movie Character that scared them the most. Idk man there's nothing else to say, Chucky is awesome, don't fuck with the Chuck.
I would say most of them are very solid movies, first 2 being fucking great movies, with seed of chuck being the only one I'm more inclined to say is bad but still a fun bad.
@@carolusrex5213 see, even the worst chucky movie is still a fun watch in some sense
once bride came out the continuity was gone
GIVE ME THE BOY AND I'LL LET YOU LIVE will always be one of my favorite Chucky lines. The desperation and fury in Dourif's voice *chef's kiss*
I've seen Grease countless times, as well as Child's Play and I've never once noticed that Marty and Maggie were played by the same actress. Mind blown, just another reason why I love these recounts.
Same! The gasp I let out when James gave me that nugget of info was hilariously loud
@@ashschramm6595 And now obviously it is all I can see, and I'm currently in mourning because Chucky murdered Marty from Grease.
She's also the daughter of Oscar-winning actress and filmmaker Lee Grant, whom was in The Omen 2 in 1978!!!
It's amazing how pink girl Marty was Maggie.
10 years can go by pretty fast.
Imagine how dark this film would've gotten if his incantation vacation succeeded, and Andy's mom would have to kill her son cause he is being possessed. And the film franchise would've ended right there
Assault and batteries
That would've been a great alternate ending
26:17
kill number 7: James a janisse
Cause of death: presumably killed by Chucky
As a fun fact about Maggie’s death, she was initially planned to die by being electrocuted in a bathtub, that would get scrapped in favor of the death that made it in the movie.
The bathtub death would get revisited as the demise for Tiffany Valentine in Bride.
I heard about that
Yeah I think he said that himself in the original bride of chicly kill count but still interesting nonetheless
And all while Tiff was watching Bride of Frankenstein
I love how much don reuses old ideas
Honestly, this recount may have gotten me to watch the entire Child's Play franchise. I forgot how much fun this series looked.
Also man, I did NOT remember how adorable Alex Vincent was as Andy.
Alex Vincent is the OG horror child actor in many people’s eyes!
Alex Vincent was an adorable kid
Alex Vincent was so relatable as a child and was so adorable I worried he died every single time
He sure was!
The Child's Play/Chucky franchise you mean.
As a kid, Chucky was the one horror icon that even catching a glimpse of gave me terrified chills. He was the one I would be scared of coming out of the dark when I was trying to sleep. I think it's mostly in part due to his uncanniness. Now, that's something I love about him! The Kill Counts are what made me really appreciate this series, and I'm SO EXCITED to see a full recount!!
In the early 90s Chucky was bigger villian Letherface now not anymore in my opinion
I was young when Brideof Chucky came out and the poster for that renewed my fear of Chucky. It didn't help that my bus stop was across from a video store and they had the poster right in the window, so I had to see it ever day.
I had the same thing with Pennywise
For me I was like that around Pennywise
The fact that my local Spencer's had a "life size" Chucky doll that made ½ of its customers avoid the adult section whether horror fan or not speaks to the popularity of the franchise.
A local comic book store has one when I was like 7 or 8 and that shit terrified me. My dad even offered to buy it 🤣 wish I did get it tho been hunting one done for a while now.
23:39 was unexpected but hilarious. Thank you to whoever put this in.
Fr this had me dying
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The scene where Karen threatens to throw Chucky into the fire was actually the very first scene of the movie I saw (on UA-cam) and it scared the living crap out of me at the time. Nevertheless I have very fond memories of the franchise from watching it with my bestie at sleepovers. It's become one of our favourite horror franchises ever since.
Chucky certainly paved the way for many other creepy dolls in horror. I don't think we'd have Annabelle for instance without him.
He definitely set the example of how to do it right lol. The others just placed a stiff doll in spots n made an illusion like they did something. N occasionally flailing around
Always found it cool that he goes through and does this recount analysis. We learn so much we didn’t know before. Lots of passion and comedy in this one. Great upload, James! Can’t wait for part two.
I was a kid when dad showed me the Chucky first movie (after that he showed me zombieland) I remember how much I was scared of Chucky. But now I can’t get enough 🦁.
I've watched the original kill count a few days ago. It's awesome to see how James improved his series over the years.
Watching this back-to-back with the original Child's Play count was delightful, especially since it gave me a chance to catch the callbacks, like "Good Guy/Bad Cop." Love your vids, James, and I look forward to seeing the rest of the Mancini Canon recounted!
I've been rewatching the Chucky KC's today while working and James sounds so much happier and involved when it comes to the scripts. Not that KCs were ever bad, but the modern KCs are so enjoyable. Thanks for doing recounts!
I gotta say it. Man are James and his team at Dead Meat *dedicated* to their craft! I mean I honestly didn't expect them to do a recount for this series, yet it's refreshing to see it. Hell there's somethings I'm sure we didn't know about the franchise that we learned here today in comparison to the OG Kill Count from 5 years ago. Kudos guys. Way to keep it classy. Absolutely can't wait for the Kill Count for the TV series (even though Chucky basically did your job for you with the season finale).
25:56 AND THAT WILL GIVE U NIGHTMARES
Chucky is and will ALWAYS be my favorite horror slasher. You are so right about people being freaked out by Chucky, my wife when I wanted to get a Chucky doll said no cause it freaked her out that much lol.
I love how this show evolved overtime. At the beginning you were just counting kills that’s it, but now you’re doing all this work it’s 100 times better.
Couldn’t comment on child’s play 2 recount so am here really really love the in-depth look James! I never knew half of what should’ve been known
Child’s play was my first Kill Count that I watched, I’ve been tuning in every week ever since, and it’s amazing to see James cover this series again!
I love this new ongoing joke about James vs Zoran. James just trying to do his job, and Zoran keeps trying to prank and/or murder him. It adds a good amount of humor to the get to the numbers bits.
This channel has become so much more than just counting kills … it’s just a deep dive into films in general… James ur awesome
21:40 Why did I want to cry immediately after seeing Andy crying, it hurts my harr
19:48 Ngl that dude is really good at doing one of the movements of Chucky
This show has given me such an incredible appreciation for movies, but horror movies especially. I love learning about behind the scenes things that I never would’ve known had I not found this channel!
Like, just watching this movie, I never would’ve known that there were multiple animatronics, potentially different castings, the fact that people met and fell in love behind the scenes, it’s so amazing! Add a hilarious, awesome personality like James and this show is just perfect!
much respect for all the work that went into the animatronics. Sooo much better than CGI! Not to mention taking actual creativity and work.
Andy is one of the cutest kid protagonist not only in a horror movie but in movies in general, Alex Vincent does a great job playing the character, and i am so glad Alex returned to the franchise in cult of chucky, such a great cameo.
Edit 1: Also omg that was hilarious 23:37
Edit 2: i never knew ed gale did both chucky and Howard the duck, what?!
Edit 3: and i love the new award for the chucky franchise on the kill count
19:53 min.
I love the „Gesundheit“, which is the german equivalent of „bless you“.
I know this is only the second franchise Recount, but I'm happy this is coming out. I started watching the channel around the time the Friday Recounts were finishing up, so I never watched those.
It's been stated in this video and in the comments, but big props to Don Mancini for keeping continuity in this franchise since 1988. No retcons, no alternate timelines. The only differences are the tonal shifts that James mentioned at the start.
I know it'll get talked about throughout the Recount, but it's really cool that Mancini was able to have the original trilogy, then go through a name change, drop to direct-to-video, and then bring it back to the mainstream with a full-on TV series. Ain't nobody doing it like that!
“Shot in har.”
PFFFT 25:50
Thanks for getting me to realize how great these films are. I used to think it was just another cursed doll horror film like Annabelle but it is so much better.
I do love that chucky acknowledges his kid is genderfluid and knows what it is, a terrible man but a good dad 👌🏻
Chucky would never kill someone for being part of the LGBTQ+ community, and that's very pog of him
*gendahfluid
@@genericname2747 equal opportunity murder, which as an enby i appreciate
@@somedragonbastard Rest easy knowing that Chucky wants you dead because he's evil, not because of gender or sexuality.
@@genericname2747 in fact, he would almost definitely kill someone for being homophobic
Yes, going back to the old ones and comparing them to the first kill counts and I’m very pleased with the recounts. Just the whole pacing and tone is amazing. You’ve come a long ways James!
I love these Recounts and getting to learn more about these movies. And it's fun getting to kinda look between recounts and the originals just to see how different the style of the videos and everything is. Looking forward to going through the Child's Play/Chucky franchise.
9:15 If I had a nickel for every time I learned a horror movie actress married a special effects artist, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.
Is this the first Kill Count where someone gets both the Golden Chainsaw and Dull Machete at the same time?
I LOVE your decision to do these remakes - the new in-depth behind-the-scenes info is great. Ten, ten, tens across the board!🏅
I already know he's gonna give the Champion Chuckle to the 3 Chuckys in Cult of Chucky
My cousin is over 20 now, and everytime we mention Chucky he starts to look around like the thing's gonna come running at him out of nowhere lol, so Chucky definitely left a mark on everyone and it's definitely a great franchise imo. Glad you're doing this recount James.
Chucky is undoubtably the most known horror figure, even kids who weren’t around to see child’s play already know the name chucky
I always love how Catherine Hicks is famous for an extremely family friendly Christian show “7th Heaven”… & this horror movie where she spouts out curse words & attacks a killer doll. So much range in her acting & so much juxtaposition.🤣
This was the first kill count I watched on the channel I’m so excited your recounting them thank you for all your hard work James
It was mine too!
21:32
Still with the great jokes 5 years later! 😂
through the har
Looking at that joke now it’s hilarious but out of context it’s weird
I remember back in 2017 when Cult of Chucky was coming out and I searched "Chucky" in the search bar and stumbled upon the first Child's Play Kill Count, it solidified my viewership to this channel and made Chucky my favorite Slasher
Tbf when I first saw it I didn’t know anything about Chucky I thought the twist was Andy was just nuts
this is one of the first kill counts i’ve watched in a minute and i love how much the Kill Counts have evolved. The graphics, the set, everything. it makes me so happy since i’ve been here for a long while.
"and director Tom Holland...NO NOT THAT ONE"
😂 Love it James!
He should continue doing that when he covers fright night and the langoliers
My day gets exponentially better when I get a notification of a new Kill Count. Love ya James & Chelsea!
22:38 this character was in bride of chucky. they were the elderly couple with the RV
Never have I thought I would laugh at Chucky screaming at 23:36 this just hilarious
I just went through a month long journey, watching every episode of kill count, and it's amazing to see how it's changed over time.
The Ed Gale stuff did not age well
I’ve remember seeing the og child’s play kill counts and the contrast to the recounts is insane. I really appreciate them
I wasn't the biggest fan of this movie when I first watched it, but seeing the care that went into those awesome practical effects makes me appreciate it on a whole new level
16:32 I am a big Archer fan and it was so sad that Jessica Walter died. Hearing this fact now blown my mind!
SAME love her voice work and her performance in Arrested Development. Had no clue she was supposed to voice Chucky LOL
It’s really admirable how James and his team revisited this film. U literally can notice the energy shift from the original one. Gotta love it 💯
I think the comparison to the Broccoli's is so accurate and cool to think ! I love these little facts that James includes in the kill counts that make him and the Dead Meat crew THEE horror experts of UA-cam !
I will say that though I'm not a particular fan of this specific franchise, it has A LOT going for it. But probably one of the most positive aspects is that they can still add to this story without retconning anything. They tend to keep everything that is put into the story. I just wish there was more exposition on the amulet and all this voodoo, body swapping curse bullshit.
I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since the original KC, I think I started watching around that time and can’t believe how fast time has flown by. It’s great to see how much you’ve grown not only in providing more background facts and info but also new jokes and commentary. Another great video (as always) and I can’t wait to see the rest of the recounts!
chucky as a kid scared the fuck outta me and i even had nightmares
but now i absolutely love this franchise and cant wait to watch the series
Bruh I loved chucky at 7
2:47 “As a gay man” I was like wait he’s gay😂
I remember watching your Child Play kill count back in November, it's good to see you redo it again!
Chuck saying “ah surprise”is my favorite chicly line of the movie too and probably of the entire series
I was so excited when James announced he would be recounting this series. I’m so hyped for seeing how he talks about the SFX and animatronics for Chucky and the deaths in these movies!
12:54 that kinda reminds of actors talking about working with the Yoda puppet in The Phantom Menace, where they said that when they said cut, the puppet would just slump over and die
I love these recounts, your newer focus is more interesting to me. I like the kills but I've learned a lot about some of my lifelong favorite horror movies through your commentary on the behind the scenes workings
26:37 stand name: Dont fear the reaper
Stand user: Zoran
Love recounts just as much as a never before covered movie.
18:57 It's amazing the creative ingenuity of the animatronics used in this film. The Chucky special effects from the 80s dare I say look BETTER and SCARIER then the modern incantations
3:27 "With director Tom Holland" CHUCKY NO WAY HOME
Bro, said it like it was another day😂 2:02
Yes, one of my favorite horror movie franchises getting the spotlight again! I still remember being at my friend's house as a kid and someone was flipping channels when Child's Play suddenly came on. It was at the scene where Chucky reveals himself to the mother, and that scene stuck with me for years until I finally watched the rest. From terrifying memory to one of my most beloved franchises, always glad to see more of it. 😍
We may have seen this one - but never like this!!! I love the recounts, they're amazing! It's not the same as before - they're more in depth, and focuses on behind the scenes information rather than just kills. I love it!
Man the og child's play truly was creepy in it's on way. Just the way that Chucky looked and moved made him really creepy but as the movies went on he just became a laughing stock kinda like Freddy. Thank you for the recount
I busted out laughing at James "haha Mad dog!" Pee Wee reference when Andy was brushing his teeth.
I would imagine that, within the rules of the movie, he doesn't know the magic to make a working voodoo doll. He only knows the soul transfer thing. Small plot hole filled in. [edit] Also, her bedroom wasn't ugly. Just unrealistically tidy for the character we have been presented.
When James said "The first of... So. Fucking. Many." made me chuckle. Ah, Chucky... He could rival He-Man with his stupid one-liners.
I remember when I was like 8 someone had this movie on in the living room and I watched like 30 seconds of it and had nightmares for years chucky was / is by far the scariest horror villain I’ve ever seen and I’m glad you are doing the series again
Dead Meat Recounts are like the best kinds of remasters in video games: keep what made the original KC so beloved, then add a healthy dollop of new and updated stats, BTS footage, and awesome factoids and jokes.
Looking forward to the next Chucky remasters over the next couple of months 🤟
15:16 missed joke Halloween 2018 “SAY SOMETHING!” ❤️
17:03 Giant Chucky is spooky !😭😭😭
9:39 Chucky: ugh please shut up
One of my favorite franchises. Child’s Play is the best. Thank James and Chelsea for all the great content. Recounts or not y’all are amazing. Hidey-Ho.
I wore this movie OUT as a child.i think the cassette tape escaped and ran for the hills because i till this day have no idea where it is!🥴
Chucky is definitely my favorite horror icon. I know he's just a toy but I first watched Child's Play when I was around Andy's age. That scares a kid that age. Plus he's hilarious in later movies.
4:51 “A fucking good guy SMG?” I don’t know why I laughed so hard at that… am I the only one?
This child’s play series is what got me started with the kill count so it’s great that we have finally gotten this inevitable kill count. Really impressed by the change of this channel. Keep it up James!
Was waiting for this as soon as I woke up (Involuntarily at 5:30 AM) it's now 7:01. Glad to see it's a half hour long , Love to see it James!
James: I love that fucking yell.
Chucky: *RUUUUUUUUUUU*
