@@mauriciogarcia4795 I’m sure he will! I loved the first season of the show and can’t wait for the second one. Can’t wait to hear what James thinks as well! It seems to find the perfect balance of horror and comedy.

While James has always been charming, the "modern" Dead Meat videos show how far he has come! The behind the scenes and extras really add so much and honestly, it drives my passion for movies and horror all the more! I appreciate the Kill Counts, especially on a series so wild and wonderful in SO many ways. Can't wait for you to recount the others, I am sure it'll be a great trip.
It kinda makes me want a version of the kill counts for other genres, preferrably other genres that, like Horror, aren't given the hollywood spotlight nearly as much but deserve much more love than they get. What comes to mind are mainly Musicals, Animation, and Comedy movies. EDIT: I know Animation specifically has a lot of channels that look at movies, but almost all of them focus solely on the end product and very rarely dive into the behind-the-scenes info like we get from Dead Meat.
@@CouchSpud91 I think a good animated film that deserves a Kill Count should be Corpse Bride, it's more horror adjacent than actual horror, but it's still creepy at time, has great stop-motion animation, and I can easily count how many died, 4 people died in Corpse Bride consisting of two men and one woman who died twice, I'll give the Golden Chainsaw for coolest kill to Lord Barkus, it wasn't graphic or anything, but considering how he's responsible for killing Emily and his own hubris by drinking a deadly drink is pretty satisfying, though what happens next is left up to the viewers imagination; Dull Machete for lamest kill goes to Emily herself, not her passing on from either world as a bunch of butterflies, but her initial death, since we have know clue what offer her
I love James' subtle nods to 80s/90s culture throughout. The way he said "buttocks" was a nod to Forest Gump. The empty apartment after Maggie died was an Empty Nest reference (cuz Dinah starred in the sitcom). The hilarious "mad dog" nod from Pee Wee's Big Adventure. The Labyrinth reference and "baby" from David Bowie's groovy song. And the nod to Gage from Pet Sematary with "no fair no fair" when Andy had the scalpel. This is the shit thats sets James apart from the rest. Fucking love it!
His last line always scared me, and not just because it was legitimately creepy. It made me think about what happened to his soul coz we just watched it leave his Airbnb body 😱
LMAO at Intro-James just straight up saying the continuity has never been broken. He won't even ACKNOWLEDGE the 2019 remake 💀 I personally don't mind it as much as you James, but I appreciate the joke.
I would make the point that other than by title of movie- the remake has nothing to do with the series- thus never breaking its continuity. This is further evidenced by the fact that had you changed the title- it would not feel like a Chucky movie. Had they replicated multiple character names and plot points then yeah it’d break cannon but the fact that it’s it’s own movie with the same name (like two songs from different decades and artists that sound nothing alike having the same name) just means that a studio got lazy somewhere.
I dont know how some people dont like these recounts, like seeing james go in depth about the production and background of these movies is one of my favorite things about these kill counts, honestly it feels off to not see those in older kill counts. So I'm definitely all for these, he along with the rest of the dead meat team are doing amazing job making these feel fresh and interesting all over again
Honestly the next recount after the current scream one needs to be Halloween or a nightmare on elm Street. Those old videos feel the same way as the chunky and Friday ones
@@scottydog771 I think Halloween might be too soon. But I can maybe see him recounting nightmare on elm street. I'd honestly love to see it. But considering those are long franchises, it might be a while before he does any recounts on those older ones
Chucky has "arguably" the most consistent franchise in terms of quality, most popular horror slasher in terms of Name and Looks alone and is the one most general audiences point to when they think of a Horror Movie Character that scared them the most. Idk man there's nothing else to say, Chucky is awesome, don't fuck with the Chuck.
I would say most of them are very solid movies, first 2 being fucking great movies, with seed of chuck being the only one I'm more inclined to say is bad but still a fun bad.
I absolutely love how this channel and specifically the Kill Count has evolved. I have learned so much about filmmaking, special effects, practical effects and more just from these videos. Thank you Dead Meat for this amazing content!
I’m glad to see another recount series. Don’t get me wrong I like watching your old content but comparing your old videos to your more current ones it really is like a night and day difference. I like how you currently add things to the kill counts like behind the scenes info and things like that. Can’t wait for the scream recount too :)
I have to say. As a sensitive anxious kid when I saw chucky I had nightmares for so long. Hearing about how much love was put into the movies and how loving the cast and director are somehow like retroactively makes me feel at peace? Like now I cant see it as a horror movie. It's just a group of friends having a good time.
@@mochawas ooo I've heard that about scream too. It kinda makes me want to make a horror movie too. Like what can I do to trick and scare all these punks 😱🤣
I never knew he slowly became more human with the puppet itself. I always thought it was because the puppets that required more facial expression just looked different.
Imagine how dark this film would've gotten if his incantation vacation succeeded, and Andy's mom would have to kill her son cause he is being possessed. And the film franchise would've ended right there
I've seen Grease countless times, as well as Child's Play and I've never once noticed that Marty and Maggie were played by the same actress. Mind blown, just another reason why I love these recounts.
She's also the daughter of Oscar-winning actress and filmmaker Lee Grant, whom was in The Omen 2 in 1978!!! It's amazing how pink girl Marty was Maggie. 10 years can go by pretty fast.
As a fun fact about Maggie’s death, she was initially planned to die by being electrocuted in a bathtub, that would get scrapped in favor of the death that made it in the movie. The bathtub death would get revisited as the demise for Tiffany Valentine in Bride.
I know this is an “old” video, by only nine months (which must be two years in internet years), but, I need to thank you for doing this recount. When I saw the first Kill Count, I only watched the first one. But, after watching this more in-depth review, I binged the whole series. The Chucky franchise has since become my favorite in all of horror films. Honestly, I’ve been having a rough few years, but somehow that little, plastic, demon bastard has managed to make my days brighter and a little redder.
Honestly, this recount may have gotten me to watch the entire Child's Play franchise. I forgot how much fun this series looked. Also man, I did NOT remember how adorable Alex Vincent was as Andy.
Those animatronics and the way they had multiple people operating them at once is amazing to me! I wish they went the animatronic route more often these days. It always holds up well!
" the animatronics tend to get a bit quirky at night but there's really nothing to worry about". Chucky: you stupid bitch! I'll teach you to fuck with with me!
The scene where Karen threatens to throw Chucky into the fire was actually the very first scene of the movie I saw (on UA-cam) and it scared the living crap out of me at the time. Nevertheless I have very fond memories of the franchise from watching it with my bestie at sleepovers. It's become one of our favourite horror franchises ever since.
Always found it cool that he goes through and does this recount analysis. We learn so much we didn’t know before. Lots of passion and comedy in this one. Great upload, James! Can’t wait for part two.
Any commenters who give James shit for doing recounts don't know what they're talking about. The show has evolved and become so much better over the years and it's awesome to see some of the early franchises get full-flavor Kill Counts nowadays. Excellent work, James and everyone on your team!
I just want to know how many people died in 8 minutes or less, that is all. Short, simple, to the point. The videos being long is what's killing this channel for me.
@@J4sse Well James wants to give his audience insight into the behind the scenes stuff. I love that he's doing that with the Child's play franchise because it's my favorite one.
As a kid, Chucky was the one horror icon that even catching a glimpse of gave me terrified chills. He was the one I would be scared of coming out of the dark when I was trying to sleep. I think it's mostly in part due to his uncanniness. Now, that's something I love about him! The Kill Counts are what made me really appreciate this series, and I'm SO EXCITED to see a full recount!!
I was young when Brideof Chucky came out and the poster for that renewed my fear of Chucky. It didn't help that my bus stop was across from a video store and they had the poster right in the window, so I had to see it ever day.
I've been rewatching the Chucky KC's today while working and James sounds so much happier and involved when it comes to the scripts. Not that KCs were ever bad, but the modern KCs are so enjoyable. Thanks for doing recounts!
First horror filmed I ever watched, 8 years old. When Chucky first came to life I got so scared I put in the VHS Scooby Doo (2002) a film I hated but now love lol. Fantastic to see you doing a recount on a well deserved series! Excited to see how these all progress!
My "Cool" Uncles let me watch this when I was 5. I had nightmares for about a decade lol. I remember one where I was in my attic room playing with my older sister and she ran down the attic stairs. After her heavy footsteps began going down the 2nd staircase I could hear a lighter pitter patter up the attic stairs and I just knew who it would be... When Chucky lunged around the top of the stairs to the attic doorway I woke up with my heart skipping beats and sweating cold. That was the worst Chucky nightmare I had.
The fact that my local Spencer's had a "life size" Chucky doll that made ½ of its customers avoid the adult section whether horror fan or not speaks to the popularity of the franchise.
A local comic book store has one when I was like 7 or 8 and that shit terrified me. My dad even offered to buy it 🤣 wish I did get it tho been hunting one done for a while now.
I'm not sure why Zoran is so obsessed with killing James lately but I'm here for it. Luckily James just can't be got 🤣 Excited for this recount. It's interesting to see the parallel progression of animatronics as seen in Child's Play, where they had to rely on whole teams of people moving controls around, as compared to the work being done by Industrial Light & Magic for Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which came out the same year (1988) and had the first known example of one-to-one motion controls (compare Chucky's chin strap aparatus to Baby Herman's cigar arm contraption and you'll see what I mean).
The original Chucky kill counts are the reason I got over my deathly fear of the character and started watching the movies and other horror movies. Thank you James!
It's funny hearing people being scared of Chucky when I was literally 3-4 years old with 2 Chucky dolls, the original and bride/seed version . I still have pictures lmao .
@@dabs.47 Oh by that time Chucky wasn’t scary, you got lucky not to be around for the originals. I remember when Bride came out n it eased my fear tremendously being more comedic plus the fact that I was older lol
Chucky is and will ALWAYS be my favorite horror slasher. You are so right about people being freaked out by Chucky, my wife when I wanted to get a Chucky doll said no cause it freaked her out that much lol.
He definitely set the example of how to do it right lol. The others just placed a stiff doll in spots n made an illusion like they did something. N occasionally flailing around
I'm glad we got a recount, I've always wanted more detail on the practical effects since that's what I've loved about franchises like Wrong Turn or Final Destination
I truly enjoy how you and your team go above and beyond to do research about how the movies are made, the reffernces they used and more. It makes it feel like you're learning about a time period in horror history and not so much just a movie kill review. Loved this channel since The Mist video :D
It works even better than someone who doesn't know the song might realize, too! For those who don't know, a different line in the same song also references voodoo.
I was shown this movie franchise when I was very little and it scared me so much as a kid for decades but that fear turned into an admiration for this serious, I would say thanks to this channel ❤
First 3 minutes of the Chucky Re-Count and i'm already bombarded with great info and details that weren't in the original kill count! This says a lot of how this show has change for the best, favorite UA-cam channel by far ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Watching this back-to-back with the original Child's Play count was delightful, especially since it gave me a chance to catch the callbacks, like "Good Guy/Bad Cop." Love your vids, James, and I look forward to seeing the rest of the Mancini Canon recounted!
You know what I love about your channel James? I was a firm believer that classic scary movies weren't scary or good to watch. But since watching your channel and getting all of your behind the scenes information, your intricate details about movies that I've missed, and most importantly, your perspective of the character inside the movie has made me a believer in the classics. You've changed how I view movies as a whole now and I think that's awesome
The first Child’s Play Kill Count is actually the first Dead Meat video I’ve ever watched. Something about the way James described the movie was really unique and entertaining. I’ve been hooked ever since.
I remember watching the original Child's Play when I was WAY too young to watch it. It scared me so bad that I would freak out when I even saw a picture of him. When I got older I grew to appreciate Chucky and now he's one of my favorite horror movie killers!
Same situation with me. Got my own TV in my bedroom when I was around 6 or 7, and would stay up waaaay past my bedtime watching movies on TBS/TNT. I had a My Buddy doll, but when I saw Child's Play, I threw it in the trash the next morning. 🤣
I gotta say it. Man are James and his team at Dead Meat *dedicated* to their craft! I mean I honestly didn't expect them to do a recount for this series, yet it's refreshing to see it. Hell there's somethings I'm sure we didn't know about the franchise that we learned here today in comparison to the OG Kill Count from 5 years ago. Kudos guys. Way to keep it classy. Absolutely can't wait for the Kill Count for the TV series (even though Chucky basically did your job for you with the season finale).
I was in the middle of the first count of chucky and came to watch this video because this is a better explanation of the film and it’s crazy how much you’ve evolved
The Chucky kill counts was what really got me invested into this channel and I remember waiting excitedly every week for the next episode to come out for the build up to cult. The fact that the channel has expanded so much since then and is an actual professional business now is mind blowing and literally incredible to see
Mallory Archer was going to be the original voice of Chucky?! That is mind blowing! I DESPERATELY want to hear the Jessica Walter cut! This is why I freaking love the Kill Count, James! I've learned so much new BTS stuff and it's made me a better horror fan!
I do find it crazy how the kill count has become less about the kills and more about the movie itself, but then again I think people also watch it for James and co just as much
I love how he’s doing it now, it feels more of a complete deep dive. Going back n looking at the old kill counts it felt rushed n just kinda going over the plot like other channels do, just with a kill counter added lol.
The Child's Play series is one of my favorite horror franchises of all time (and Chucky is easily my favorite of the well known slashers) and the original kill counts for it will always have a special place in my heart. I'm incredibly hyped to rewatch the movies as you release these recounts and I hope you'll consider covering the tv show one day!
Yes, going back to the old ones and comparing them to the first kill counts and I’m very pleased with the recounts. Just the whole pacing and tone is amazing. You’ve come a long ways James!
Five years ago, James covered the original seven films. And now five years later, he's recovering them to give the movies the credit and treatment they deserve. Poetic and bookended, you could say.
I love this new ongoing joke about James vs Zoran. James just trying to do his job, and Zoran keeps trying to prank and/or murder him. It adds a good amount of humor to the get to the numbers bits.
Thanks for getting me to realize how great these films are. I used to think it was just another cursed doll horror film like Annabelle but it is so much better.
This show has given me such an incredible appreciation for movies, but horror movies especially. I love learning about behind the scenes things that I never would’ve known had I not found this channel! Like, just watching this movie, I never would’ve known that there were multiple animatronics, potentially different castings, the fact that people met and fell in love behind the scenes, it’s so amazing! Add a hilarious, awesome personality like James and this show is just perfect!
I know this is only the second franchise Recount, but I'm happy this is coming out. I started watching the channel around the time the Friday Recounts were finishing up, so I never watched those. It's been stated in this video and in the comments, but big props to Don Mancini for keeping continuity in this franchise since 1988. No retcons, no alternate timelines. The only differences are the tonal shifts that James mentioned at the start. I know it'll get talked about throughout the Recount, but it's really cool that Mancini was able to have the original trilogy, then go through a name change, drop to direct-to-video, and then bring it back to the mainstream with a full-on TV series. Ain't nobody doing it like that!
This is definitely one of my favourite (or even my top favourite) kill counts ever since James’s return, I love the original Child’s Play kill counts so getting recounts of them with new behind the scenes info is great!
This is my all-time favorite horror franchise and I can’t tell you how pumped I am to see a recount! In the original video “Through the harrr” had me cracking up so much, and I love to see everything even more in depth!
I love these Recounts and getting to learn more about these movies. And it's fun getting to kinda look between recounts and the originals just to see how different the style of the videos and everything is. Looking forward to going through the Child's Play/Chucky franchise.
Andy is one of the cutest kid protagonist not only in a horror movie but in movies in general, Alex Vincent does a great job playing the character, and i am so glad Alex returned to the franchise in cult of chucky, such a great cameo. Edit 1: Also omg that was hilarious 23:37 Edit 2: i never knew ed gale did both chucky and Howard the duck, what?! Edit 3: and i love the new award for the chucky franchise on the kill count
I love how this show evolved overtime. At the beginning you were just counting kills that’s it, but now you’re doing all this work it’s 100 times better.
i LOVE these recounts because james covered great movies when he first started and hes literally grown exponentially with his team, quality, production etc, so its fun to see him go back and expand upon the previous kill counts

I was about to comment about the peewee reference bc I thought I was the only one who caught it!
I love the kill breakdowns James has started doing. It gives off a strong "sports analyst" vibe that I'm totally down with.
I’m glad to have witnessed how far James has come over the last five years
His last line always scared me, and not just because it was legitimately creepy. It made me think about what happened to his soul coz we just watched it leave his Airbnb body 😱
Airbnb??😭
For real life that is a Airbnb body

LMAO at Intro-James just straight up saying the continuity has never been broken. He won't even ACKNOWLEDGE the 2019 remake 💀
I personally don't mind it as much as you James, but I appreciate the joke.
Yeah because it's irrelevant 😉💅
I don’t think it’s supposed to be canon to these films anyway, it’s its own thing
The Mancini continuity hasn't been broken.
It's not Canon I don't think lmao
Yes! I just got the first three films in 4K from ShoutFactory, excited to rewatch these as you do the kill counts :)
How are you dude? The kids doing well? Wife? Anyway tell John I miss him, and I'll be back home to see the parents soon 🙌

Best to update the evolution of Chucky again, especially with the TV show now
Yo I remember your Chucky vids
Where can you find that in Australia
"because Chucky sounds gay" has probably got to be my new favorite sentence when out of context
As someone who's watching the original kill counts, it is nice to see how much you've grown as a content creator.
Your pfp brought memories I've suppressed for years
I dont know how some people dont like these recounts, like seeing james go in depth about the production and background of these movies is one of my favorite things about these kill counts, honestly it feels off to not see those in older kill counts. So I'm definitely all for these, he along with the rest of the dead meat team are doing amazing job making these feel fresh and interesting all over again
I agree. As a die hard fan who can never get enough of the Chuck, I enjoy these videos a lot!
@@liacedeno4382 halloween as a series has a giant stink around it too. meanwhile nightmare is as good (or bad) as it ever was before.
Cause most fans see the kill count as a re-cap for free and rather see a new film being covered.
@@carolusrex5213 see, even the worst chucky movie is still a fun watch in some sense

I absolutely love how this channel and specifically the Kill Count has evolved. I have learned so much about filmmaking, special effects, practical effects and more just from these videos. Thank you Dead Meat for this amazing content!
I love these recounts, they show how much James, Dead Meat and the series has grown. I love knowing all these cool bits of information about movies.
The tutorial is over time for expert mode

Ummm. People got murdered in the movies!!?!
@@latayesha I don't mean the actual characters. I mean the people behind them. I see the whole thing in a new light.

That would've been a great alternate ending

I've seen Grease countless times, as well as Child's Play and I've never once noticed that Marty and Maggie were played by the same actress. Mind blown, just another reason why I love these recounts.
Same! The gasp I let out when James gave me that nugget of info was hilariously loud
@@ashschramm6595 And now obviously it is all I can see, and I'm currently in mourning because Chucky murdered Marty from Grease.
She's also the daughter of Oscar-winning actress and filmmaker Lee Grant, whom was in The Omen 2 in 1978!!!
It's amazing how pink girl Marty was Maggie.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
As a fun fact about Maggie’s death, she was initially planned to die by being electrocuted in a bathtub, that would get scrapped in favor of the death that made it in the movie.
The bathtub death would get revisited as the demise for Tiffany Valentine in Bride.
I heard about that
Yeah I think he said that himself in the original bride of chicly kill count but still interesting nonetheless
And all while Tiff was watching Bride of Frankenstein
I love how much don reuses old ideas
Alex Vincent is the OG horror child actor in many people’s eyes!
Alex Vincent was an adorable kid
Alex Vincent was so relatable as a child and was so adorable I worried he died every single time

Those animatronics and the way they had multiple people operating them at once is amazing to me! I wish they went the animatronic route more often these days. It always holds up well!

The recounts don’t bother me that much honestly, because it gives me a chance to see my favorite horror icons once again on the channel!
I just want to know how many people died in 8 minutes or less, that is all. Short, simple, to the point. The videos being long is what's killing this channel for me.
@@J4sse Then the content isn't for you, simple as that. Leave.
@@J4sse Can I ask why?
@@J4sse Well James wants to give his audience insight into the behind the scenes stuff. I love that he's doing that with the Child's play franchise because it's my favorite one.
As a kid, Chucky was the one horror icon that even catching a glimpse of gave me terrified chills. He was the one I would be scared of coming out of the dark when I was trying to sleep. I think it's mostly in part due to his uncanniness. Now, that's something I love about him! The Kill Counts are what made me really appreciate this series, and I'm SO EXCITED to see a full recount!!
In the early 90s Chucky was bigger villian Letherface now not anymore in my opinion
I was young when Brideof Chucky came out and the poster for that renewed my fear of Chucky. It didn't help that my bus stop was across from a video store and they had the poster right in the window, so I had to see it ever day.
I had the same thing with Pennywise
For me I was like that around Pennywise
I've been rewatching the Chucky KC's today while working and James sounds so much happier and involved when it comes to the scripts. Not that KCs were ever bad, but the modern KCs are so enjoyable. Thanks for doing recounts!
First horror filmed I ever watched, 8 years old. When Chucky first came to life I got so scared I put in the VHS Scooby Doo (2002) a film I hated but now love lol. Fantastic to see you doing a recount on a well deserved series! Excited to see how these all progress!

The 2002 Scooby-Doo movie is a classic including a childhood classic I'd watch annually even into the 2010s and still do
Could not slp after watching part 3 cause I was scared I would have a nightmare
Luckily James just can't be got 🤣
Excited for this recount. Because this franchise is unique in that the same leading hands have been involved the whole time I'm really interested to learn more of the background info

The Chucky kill counts was what really got me invested into this channel and I remember waiting excitedly every week for the next episode to come out for the build up to cult. The fact that the channel has expanded so much since then and is an actual professional business now is mind blowing and literally incredible to see

much respect for all the work that went into the animatronics. Sooo much better than CGI! Not to mention taking actual creativity and work.
The scene where Karen discovers he has no batteries is one of my favorite scares ever in horror
I’ve remember seeing the og child’s play kill counts and the contrast to the recounts is insane. I really appreciate them
This is definitely one of my favourite (or even my top favourite) kill counts ever since James’s return, I love the original Child’s Play kill counts so getting recounts of them with new behind the scenes info is great!
This is my all-time favorite horror franchise and I can’t tell you how pumped I am to see a recount! In the original video “Through the harrr” had me cracking up so much, and I love to see everything even more in depth!
I'm VERY glad James brought up the editing process, a lot of people don't know how dramatically different Tom Holland's cut of the movie was.
I love these Recounts and getting to learn more about these movies. And it's fun getting to kinda look between recounts and the originals just to see how different the style of the videos and everything is. Looking forward to going through the Child's Play/Chucky franchise.
