    No doubt, Professor David is a true master and technician of his handcrafted skills! The Professor needs to be truly valued and respected. His teachings are valuable. My instructor told me, when someone takes his time to show you something or teach you something, you truly humble your self and accept the gift. The gift is given with trust and honor! Please show your respect by training hard and approving yourself to be worthy of the true gift of knowledge.

    A bunch of folks have mace and stun guns but are kinda clueless about how and when to actually use them. This seems like the perfect start for a series. First up: using mace. You don’t want to wait until someone's super close, like within three feet. You should use it when they're about 10 feet away. What next after you spray? That's key because chances are, the attacker might rush you before the mace kicks in. Now, stun guns are a different game, they're for super close encounters, definitely under three feet. But, how many people carrying one actually know the right moment to zap? Not many, I’d guess.

    This is why I love and train in Chinese martial arts. Like traditional martial arts from other countries, the techniques you learn have follow ups based on the assumption that your shit will not work. That’s why Asian forms are so long. They have follow up techniques for when your plan doesn’t work.
    Also, constant sparring helps.
    To quote Ramsey Dewey, the answer to the question in this video is “to get out there and train”

    Police training has gone from hit the head, to hit the knees/elbows, to hit the large muscles; not to be effective but to avoid lawsuits. However, when you play by the rules and things still don't work, you are within your rights to amp it up to the next level in order to secure a dangerous offender. Some people in the comments talk about prepper spray; where legal, know the distance of the product you are using and spray within that distance then step back as it takes time to work and you need to have the reaction time to see when it is not working. Stepping back or at an angle also helps get you out of the spray area so you don't catch some yourself.

A lot of people, it seems, have never actually been in a fight before, so they don't know what to do when it happens. One of the reasons that I respect Professor James so much, is that he puts a lot of effort into helping people that aren't fighters, don't have any real training, survive an attack.

    Unfortunately most law enforcement officers are not thoroughly trained in self defense or fighting. They take a few hours of self defense training and some refresher classes that they never practice regularly will never be efficient in a real violent situation. In the case of an officer’s life and dearth situations. It may call to do the improper illegal thing to save your life. Rather than doing what’s policy and dying

      @@theman2017inc
      Yeah but a lot of former military aren't mentally straight themselves so a lot of them couldn't be cops if they tried
      Also we have too many loose cannon cops on our police departments now and were trying fo straighten out their bs

    • @blockmasterscott
      @blockmasterscott 10 місяців тому

      They are handicapped by two things. The first is that they are so short handed that they are trying their best to keep a presence on the street instead of training.
      Second is that with literally everyone having a camera, they are having to watch out for lawsuits, which I would not be surprised if that’s where their training is focused instead of self defense.
      That was like me as a supervisor in the school district. Our training was focused on avoiding complaints by the people working under us instead of getting work done. He looked at me wrong. I was scared by his body language. His belt was not in a belt loop and made me uncomfortable because it hung like a penis.(I am not making that up).
      So yeah, I get what they have to go through.

    • @wendellknight2072
      @wendellknight2072 10 місяців тому +3

      @@blockmasterscott
      The cops are handicapped because of their own actions
      Way too many cops show been caught on camera abusing citizens and abusing their authority over citizens. Now these actions have caused a lot of cop to be fired and other cops simply quit
      Now I'd the cops weren't commiting so many abuses they wouldn't find themselves so short handed. It's as if cops think that is authority is absolute and we must bow down and submit whether the cops are right or wrong and this is what so many of tbe American people are so truly tired of dealing with
      Cops need to go back to doinf their jobs correctly and professionally and then maybe just maybe the trust that police officers used to have may just start to come back to them

    adequate kicking ability, not missing, hitting where you want, hard enough, not getting the kick blocked or grabbed, takes 50+ hours to learn spread out over several months. It's a great option to have, but the sort of stompking kick you're doing here doesnt work waf vs the groin. It's ok vr shins or knees, but it's slower and commits bodyweight., both of which are bad attributes.

    Man is this a tough one for Law Enforcement, because they are so ill prepared for this kind of stuff. And many are very concerned with being sued disciplined or fired by thier Departments. Being an instructor in the Academy. The common peroneal nerve on the outside of the leg, or the femoral nerve on the inside of the thigh are prettly much all is taught as it relates to kicking or impact weapon striking below the belt. If I take his vision, I will be sued and crucified by the public the press and even my very own Department. The things that really work are frowned upon and restricted. Everything is visual these days because of the Police/public culture and persception. The bottom line is, I will do what's neccessary to go home, but it will come with consequences for me. This is one of the reasons I retired when I did. This one really hit home.

    3:30 Wrong, wrong, wrong. I can't believe that security, prison guards etc, all get taught to strike the KNEES and the police don't?!.... Come off it....
    It was an American guy who worked in the prison system who STARTED that whole 'knee' strike as standard because otherwise officers tend to hit the head or other areas that could easily result in serious injury or death!!! All kinds of law enforcement followed it! ESPECIALLY if you're in America. We even have it here in Australia!
    Anyway, for anyone interested why: He taught to strike the KNEES [( *_not the thigh!,_* which can be tanked) because *the knee brings devastating pain!],* the WRISTS in a scenario like an outstretched weapon(just to get rid of weapon) and last resort ( *for pain-compliance* - e.g. if knee is not available or doesn't work), then *COLLAR-BONE....*
