Your fantastic Professor David, I'm seeing all your videos and weaving it into my martial art, training. I would seriously suggest for those who don't have prior training, to go to Professor David's class, if you live far away, still view the lessons, and take up a martial art, it would really help in applying he's techniques.

Hello Everyone. happy "day after Christmas" to all.
Ok, I have a question: Professor David, why are you lately, always stating that you have over 40 yrs in martial arts and are not a newbie? Are people questioning your abilities?
The reason for the question is simple.. With all due respect sir. YOU don't have to validate yourself.. The content itself, whether technique or verbal instruction showcases the detailed competency required to not only bring up the topic (which others do not) but to dissect said topic in layman's terms and provide an answer to the conundrum at hand. No way can anybody without decades of experience even contemplate the aforementioned, let alone provide a solution.
We know you and Ken are the real deal. This video is a perfect example: The "day after Christmas", when others are chilling out relaxing, you two are putting out serious content for the faithful. Pay Attention: We are grateful. Much love & respect. Ous!!

I've had 2 knives pulled on me in my life. The 1st time I was scared but able to hold his arms long enough for him to tire down and you are right about how hard it is. The 2nd time I knew I was cut as soon as I seen the blade. I made a choice to rush in with a sholder and grab the knife at the same time. Being 6⁴ and 240lbs I got stitches that day but it was only 2 of my fingers instead of my life. I couldn't get off line to get to the side.

Great job and great advises, i know u r one of the best i ve ever seen Prof, because am in the same field as you, personal protection, not martial arts or fighting with all respect to those but u know the difference and u ve explained it..
BUT if he is a “knife man”…not normal knife attacker…. Simply he ll switch hands and Oppa.
We have the same message in life, We try hard to keep people alive and not to get them killed
    God bless U.

As former federal LE, where I spent 5 1/2+ years as a Long Term(deep) Undercover Operative, I was involved in three(3) knife/dagger encounters. All three encounters were initiated by my attackers, while not one of which was the "knife in the face" scenario.
Only an @sshole would wave a knife(or any weapon for that matter) around in front of someone chirpin like a bird about what they were gonna do to someone, lol.
I do agree with the "close space" movement/technique, along with controlling the knife ARM as quickly as possible.
    Continued Success David👊

Life is a strange journey, and maybe you have been just lucky not to have come against someone pointing a knife in your face and being crazy threatening. If there is no talking then the fighting attack will ensue. And yes, you sound like a pro, but not everyone out there can be like you. This demo and explanation was a concept rather than some miracle technique. Keep on watching and you will find lots of useful stuff that you can add to your already well-balanced experience. Txs.

      Excellent points,@@elig1184🤙
I don't know that it was luck as much as the adversaries that I encountered were well versed in using a knife/dagger, with two(2) having bodies on them from both a knife and a firearm, while the third had two murders(handgun) that had he survived our encounter, he would've been indicted on. Ironically, he did not die from the ten(10) stab wounds that I inflicted, though from a broken neck(C-3 through C-5) as after spinning and stabbing him, I dropped, sank a fireman's carry and launched him over a second story single pass fire escape head first on to the alley 20' below, snapping his vertebrae at C3-5(at 6'2", 227lbs and a former D1 football Player🏈 & wrestler🤼‍♀️, I always closed space immediately, worked inside and tied up the knife/dagger/weapon ARM. If given the choice, I preferred a ground and pound).
I was actually attacked with a knife four(4) times, though I don't even count the last time amongst the three legit encounters, as it was a kid who basically drew his blade and started to circle me, telling me what he was going to do to me, though I closed the space, shot inside threw an armlock on his knife arm, brought him belly to belly and gave him two head butts to the nose, which exploded🩸, which basically ruined one of my fave shirts😂, at which time he dropped the knife, then I took him to the ground, bounced his head like a basketball while knocking him out. There was no need for me to draw one of the six(6) knives/daggers that I carried on my person(still do).
I don't count that as a legit knife encounter as that kid was the equivalent of the @sshole that David refers to in this video, who would wave a knife around your face chirpin threats like some middle school b!tch on a playground. From the time that i was a young kid, 12-13yo, based on what my father Taught me(he is former Air Force Para-Rescue), I never EVER exchanged words, of ANY kind, with a potential attacker/adversary, as if he stood there jawing, though was no physical threat to me, I would turn, keeping my awareness as I departed. If the kid/adversary got inside my 6' space, I would back-up, slide to the side, etc., depending on the situation, location and individual, though I would only attack if the adversary insisted on following me, breaking my 6' safe space or struck out at me.
Versus a serious attacker, one who has "been there done that," and having been in a number of knife/dagger fights, will approach and in all likelihood use what INTERPOL classifies as a "blitz" attack technique, stabbing as fast, as hard and as many times as possible. All three of my attackers used this technique, with two blitzing from the side while the fire escape guy attacked me from behind, though he slipped/stumbled down the last two steps, basically falling into my first stab as I spun into him.
If given the choice, I would ALWAYS choose the @sshole waving his knife/weapon around in front of me 😢or in my face area threatening me. As the three Immutable Tenets of CQB are 1)Surprise, 2)Speed & 3)Violence of Action, a clown that chirps, yells and threatens gives away that first critical factor, surprise, and my response was to say absolutely nothing, let him close to just inside my "safe space(my space is 6', not 3')," look him directly in his eyes, while I shot the arm bar, locked down his knife arm, then went to work on him. The other fact of knife life is that if one gets into a legitimate knife fight with a dangerous adversary, EXPECT to get stabbed!!! If, you do get extremely lucky and avoid getting stabbed, that's great, though just expect to get stabbed and be mentally prepared to work through it. No pause, no hesitation, no thinking about it!! That will get you killed.
In my three encounters, I delivered twenty-nine stab wounds(10/8/11) while I sustained five stab wounds(1/0/4).
      Three knife fights.....
THIRTY FOUR STAB WOUNDS, ZERO SLICES‼️
Though a legit attacker will have the advantage of surprise as to when he is going to "blitz"/attack you, by being situationally aware and hyper-focused , one can lessen and negate to some degree that advantage and counter with speed and a vicious violence of action.
David reminds me a lot of my CQB Teacher and Mentor in that he's straight forward, no bullsh!t. He also has some great practical content, and I would say that his along with Craig Douglas(he does some CQB/knife/dagger vids with John Lovell/Warrior Poet Society) are hands down the most applicable to real world CQB, whether it be a basic vanilla bar fight, street fight or a knife attack. The fact that Craig also spent quite a bit of time as an Undercover Operative, so his scenarios are straight from the streets, not all of this bullsh!t💩 YTube garbage that these kids are putting out.

Thanks much for the astute courteous response😊
I don't know that three knife fights qualifies me as a Pro, though I hope that through 23+ years as a Senior CQB Instructor to LE Special Activities(SWAT/CIRTI gave some relevant instruction.

Stay Safe Brotha👊

Around the 10min mark were you smack the hand to the outside why couldn't you punch with opposite hand. Instead of using the same hand you smaked his arm away with. Close point smack arm kick shins groin ect. Instead of smaking arm sideways use more of a straighter directional push to take away balance. Enjoy all good things
