I should say, that in my point of view solo mode in Cold Waters expansion is much more interesting than in the base game (we have less experience in solo games when work on this one). Played this about 2 years ago both solo and multiplayer. I didn't care for the solo play myself and only played multiplayer. I since moved on from it so I never pursue the expansion. It's definitely a good combo style game and has nice art work. Great explanation of the game.

I've had this game for a while and got to play it with a friend but haven't tried it solo. To be honest, I forgot or did not know that I could play it solo. Might have to try and DIVE into it soon.
Great review! I got this game a while back because Alex at BoardGameCo always says it's one of his favorites, but after 7 plays, I'm still deciding how much I like it. It's definitely a good game and the artwork is beautiful. I will always keep it in my collection for the box art alone 😅 . I do agree with you that it is a bit difficult to read the purple markings on the wild mantas and the orange and red mantas are very hard to tell apart. Of course, there are shapes to distinguish them, but it makes me wonder why they chose to use such similar colors. My biggest complaint was the card quality. I had to sleeve all the cards because just sliding them into the slots was tearing up the corners. But all in all, a good game with some unique mechanisms.
