  • Arizona is not a place for day dreamers to move to. living offgrid is hard enough, but doing it here can be deadly. A good man has died leaving his wife and five children with nowhere to go. I will be posting my po box below in the next few days for anyone who wants to send gifts. Leave a note inside if it is for me or for the family. They are staying on my land for now until they decide what to do. #offgrid #killianoffgrid #homestead #vanlife #livingmybestlife #livingthedream #tragedy #arizona #rattlesnake #apachecounty

      For reals. I grew up in southern Illinois. Timber rattlers. Copperheads. Lots of nasty spiders tornadoes freezing deep snow winters. Growing food is a lil easier there but Arizona is the least scary rough place I have ever lived. Nothing happens here. Growing food is a lil rough but very doable. Great place for meat pigs n chickens.

    I'm a Native Arizonan born in Phoenix on Luke AFB and have lived in several towns in Arizona Lake Havasu , Prescott , Camp Verde , Prescott Valley , Chino Valley , Dewy it's not as bad as you're saying the worst is a lack of water but other than that if you have a good 4x4 you can do and be fine and alert of your surroundings.
    Yes there are dip shit people everywhere in any town and even out hunting during hunting season but Arizona isn't like your making it out to be like living on the Moon come on don't make my home State sound like it a death trap please. Thank You 👍👍👍👍😁😎🍻✌️👋

      You are acclimated and do every right because of being born there.People who come from cities and a gentler climate really have no clue, the state is unsafe for the people he is talking about. @CorneliusScipio111 Yes there are ways to make the desert more green, but it takes proper management and working with the ecosystem where you are at, not against it. There are many examples (here on UA-cam) of homesteaders in Cochise, Apache and Mohave counties in some pretty dry areas that use water catchment that not just survive off it, but feed a small farm on it. Very much doable, just takes a lot of work that's hard to do in a concrete jungle.

    There should be a plot plan or survey in the county. Even if it is the original deed it might have the plots. There will be past surveys. As long as the survey company is still in business then their survey will be good. It will have location stakes in the ground so get a cheap metal detector. They also could use a large tree as a plot corner. Once you find them mark them with orange paint or plastic flags.
    This should apply to her land through a easement so the land may be owned by someone else but she has the right to cross it per county records.

    Thank you for respecting the wildlife. Even snakes have an important role. We just have to keep our eyes peeled when reaching for items in dark places. I allow a couple black widows in my garden. I know where they are and they don't wander. And they catch bugs that like to eat my garden. The cats keep other critters away. Coyotes run along our fence line often. We can hear them howling close by at night , it's an errey sound. Our cat's are "street smart" and come inside when they know the coyotes are nearby. Stay safe.

    This video is either a joke or he is delusional. I too live here in Arizona , off grid. Not even close to as bad as he describes. Yes couple snakes , arizona bark scorpion is only found near water. Dehydration ? I moved from Texass 117 in the shade & 90 - 100 % humidity. Here , hottest 2 days was 91 & 99 . Never had a plant try to kill me. Worst thing , Coyote keeps stealing my dogs Sqeaky toys.

      Arizona bark scorpion, not spider. More species of rattlesnake than anywhere else in the world. Arizona is bigger than just here, and it gets much hotter in Arizona then 117. You apparently do not understand how dehydration works. BTW, before you choose to debate my comments on snakes bare in mind that I have been the reptile keeper for the Phoenix zoo. There are in fact bears, mountain lions, wolves etc. And if you leave this area there are plants in the proper desert that are very dangerous. I have hiked mountains and canyons all over this state, until you have spent as much time in the wilderness as I have here ,stop acting. Arizona is a big state, one of the most biodiverse places on earth, educate yourself.

      @killianoffgrid1623 I thought you mentioned bark scorpion , I know nothing about spiders. I have lived in every US state that has rattle snakes , have gone on MANY round ups filling trucks and trailers with 1000's of snakes for inventory for parents western stores. Also learned a lot from family friend Jackie Bibby ( google him ) about rattle snakes. The only animal that you mentioned that I have not seen YET is a wolf. I have been all over arizona spending months at a time .. northern , southern , east , west , in the middle during every season before deciding to buy land where I did. That is to say Arizona heat is NOTHING compared to Texass heat , that is why I moved here from there. I admit you know more about arizona than I care to ever learn about , but just because you worked in a zoo does not make you an authority about ALL things arizona. I knew a man that for years would talk about orange juice , been in the business 30 years , acted like his family founded Tropicana orange juice. Talked about the machines like he engineered them . Come to find out he sat at same station for 26 years folding boxes. The point of my original comment was only that Arizona is not as bad as you made it seem in your video.

    • @HidingFromStupid
      @HidingFromStupid 7 місяців тому

      @killianoffgrid1623 your last comment told me to educate myself. I have always tried to educate myself of the areas I choose to live . That is the only reason I know anything at all about bark scorpions. I read an article that said they are found along rivers , streams , lakes , or where the ground stays moist most of the year. Said they need moist areas. Based on that and the fact I live at 7000 feet , 30 miles from nearest puddle of water ... I have not seen one.

The road frontage is just 50 feet so I don't dare try to take a guess at it with it that narrow. I don't need a big place just a small placeof my own. I'm here in Colorado and they give us an address but the USPS won't deliver, only to a location far away with 50 mailboxes exposed in the middle of nowhere. But UPS and Fedex will come out if weather is good. How do you get mail where you are? Do you have to head into Sanders and go to post office? I actually like that better than a box on a dirt road. Does UPS/FEDEX and Amazon deliver to a po box? Just curious how it all works in the REAL wild west!! I'm about done with this NANNY state and was looking to move back to the real desert where I'm from, Colorado desert is fricken COLD!. @@killianoffgrid1623 Awesome! Atleast you can get some packages delivered to you or a meet up. I've had to meet them before on muddy road days. NANNY laws are when the government treats you like a child and dictates every single issue as a law or code. Like you can collect water from RAIN!! Only 2(TWO) 55 gallon barrels of rain water are allowed on any single property. You can direct anywhere you want but NOT collect more than 110 gallons at one time. Used to be illegal to collect any amount, only municipal water or a well is currently allowed. Cisterns are only allowed IF you cannot drill a well. And you know how much a well costs, plus it has to be stamped by an engineer to be apporoved by state. Added costs for everything. My county has no bulding codes or inspectors BUT 3 code enforcement officers for all the NANNY codes. They come and measure setbacks and count the days you are on YOUR property with an RV. Only 14 days per 90 days allowed for an RV without an approved and permitted structures. I have to keep applying for an extention every 60 days for an RV to keep legal and still build within my 2 year limit. It was minus 38 last year and I think I'm looking at concho area to get a few thousand feet lower at 6500ft. Im at 7800 ft now
