-------------Click on "SHOW MORE" to see the FULL RECIPE-------------
Try this classic recipe in the slow cooker. A true one-pot meal that you'll want to make often.
    RECIPE:
    INGREDIENTS:
    1½ lbs. chicken breasts, cubed
10.5 oz. can cream of chicken soup
10.5 oz. can cream of celery soup
    1 cup water
    14½ oz. can chicken broth
2 carrots, sliced- about 2 cups after being sliced
2-3 celery ribs, sliced - about 2 cups after being sliced
    1 yellow onion, diced
    ½ tsp. thyme
    ¼ tsp. black pepper
1 cup frozen peas - optional
16.3 oz. Pillsbury Grand Biscuits 8 biscuit sized can (note- I only use 7 of these biscuits)
more thyme and pepper for the top of biscuits
    SLOW COOKER SIZE:
    6-quart or larger
    INSTRUCTIONS:
Add chicken, carrots, celery, onions, thyme, and black pepper to your slow cooker.
Add the cream of chicken soup, cream of celery soup, chicken broth and water. Stir.
Cook on HIGH For 4 hours or LOW for 8 hours.
Add peas at this point if you would like. Stir.
I only use 7 biscuits for this recipe. Cut the biscuits into quarters. Arrange the biscuit quarters evenly over the soup.
Sprinkle dumplings with a touch of thyme and pepper. Replace the lid.
Turn your slow cooker to HIGH.
Cover and cook on HIGH for 45 minutes (DO NOT OPEN THE LID DURING THIS TIME). You will know the dumplings are done when they are no longer shiny.
NOTE- If your slow cooker has switched over to warm after cooking for a length of time you will need to cook the dumplings for 1.5 hours so the slow cooker gets back up to temperature.

No jibber-jabber... just great instructive vid and right to the point with visual instructions that even I can follow easily and implement quickly on a busy day. Thanks a bunch. I never cared for chicken and dumplings in the past, but decided -- like most other foods -- that it has much to do with who makes it and how they make it. Since my hubby loves them, I'm gonna try this recipe and surprise him with it.

Just put this in the crock pot now to try out, I added more seasonings like onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, thyme, and poultry seasoning. Not too much tho because the canned soups already have lots of salt, can’t wait to try this will update when it’s done, but so far it’s looking pretty good! 😊

I’m eating this right now and it is really good. I followed the recipe exactly except I used two cans of cream of chicken instead of cream of celery, because that’s what I had on hand. Everything else I followed exactly and this is how I’m going to make chicken and dumplings from now on. So easy! And so good! Thank you for this great video.

    • @TheMagicalSlowCooker

The biscuits do get done in the middle. But this recipe is finicky. In order for them to cook, the slow cooker must still be on low (not switched to warm) and after you add the biscuits and add the lid again, do not open the lid while they are cooking. And they will be cooked perfectly.

What do you do with the 1 left over biscuit? do you re-purpose it somehow? or do you freeze the extra one each time you make this, and then the 8th time you don't have to buy biscuits LOL

Bake the biscuits in the oven then put on top. If not it’s like mush.

i had this issue as well, if i ever make it again i'm gonna have to find a better way to do the dumplings, just had the texture of raw dough despite me following the instructions to a T. Also had to add more seasoning. was very bland with just thyme and pepper!

@@ericwolf2602 You could probably get away with baking for 5-10 minutes at 350' F then throwing them in for the last 30-45 minutes.
