Last thumbnail change I swear. I don't even like this video anymore so I don't care if nobody sees it, I just really like the thumbnail idea and like it to be as good as possible. Initially I used some artwork by Sophie Fletcher, and because she'd worked with Tomska before I'd decided it was enough to constitute as official. Obviously, that's not how it works. Here is her original art: www.deviantart.com/trophy-sketcher/art/Red-Leader-597357238
Honestly, my favourite theory as to why Tord was so out of character in The End is the one where Tord's a failed clone from Spares that escaped, and the non-clone Tord went off to do whatever, totally unaware of the clone. That or Clone!Tord killed the original Tord and took over his life.
I don't know tord may was beaten the clone for it being a clone and may not know how to kill or fight while tord knows how to do both and is probably good at it
Tord: Finally I get to live in the big city, hopefully I didn't forget anything! Years later Tord: HOLD UP I FORGOT MY GIGANTIC ROBOT THAT TOOK ME YEARS TO MAKE
For the end, I just really wish they gave Tord some sort of "redemption" or at least made him realize his mistake. I would've really liked to see Tord turn good again! But I guess I have to leave that imagination to the fan works...
It probably had an ending like what you said, since The End was not the original planned ending to Eddsworld. But they had to cut it short cause of all the things that happened (not sure about it tho, that's just the way i think it went like)
I always felt dissapointed about how Tord was potrayed. He was violent and trigger happy, but never malicious to the rest of the guys. He was their ride or die. If anything, Matt was more of the mean one back in the early days.
My theory : Maybe Tord lied about going off to the big city and he had a secret entrance to inside of his secret lab area, then, when he 'comes back' he just wants to 'spend time' with his 'old friends' so the impact on his betrayal is even larger.
theres been some speculation and theories that the tord we see in this episode is actually the trigger-happy clone from spares.. this is debateable however.
@The Random House well, Tord is very overrated in the fandom, so for example he wouldn't be as popular anymore. And stuff like red army wouldn't really be that much of a thing. Also less tomtord, dear god yes.
Tord is overrated. I get it, he has an interesting mystery behind him but he barely even spoke. Matt is the most underrated and best character in my opinion who deserves more ;_; (The real life Matt is the one who made me laugh the most too in most videos alongside Edd. The OG team was awesome, good to know Matt stayed and rest in peace Edd!)
I loved the end, don't get me wrong, but the fact that there was so much happening, and so quickly, irritated me. Not only that, but as a long-time Eddsworld fan, I was confused as to why Edd was so ecstatic to see Tord. Other thing, I think it would have been nice if Tord, after failing, was forgiven and seen either surrendering to the police or tagging along to Tom's apartment, watching television with them. Just like old times :3 But of course, with the massive amount of changes made to Tord's character and his appearance out of the blue, I suppose some cloudiness would be necessary to build plot.
Well, there's this one piece of theory that could make sense. Do you remember the clones? Someone theorized that one of the Tord clones, a very bloodthirsy and power hungry person, survived. And at eddsworld: the movie™, the real Tord will come back.
Yeah I can’t imagine a scene like that Tord: hey i tried to kill you and take over the world I killed Jon and broke your hearts but hey I’m sorry Tom: lol k I forgive you I really can’t see how Tom would forgive Tord
There's always the theory that that tord was a clone, since tord if he was drawn as someone who uses guns a lot, but he was never evil, not at least with his friends
Diamantina Montesa except that one time he tried to kill edd over bacon, but seriously I don’t like when people say that Edd and Matt are cinnamon rolls because the four of has been mean to the others at some point
@@aiuwapi .. and all four of them tried to kill each other in general- I still think the newer versions of Matt is extremely innocent and cute, but the older versions weren't. At all-
Finally, an actual criticism on The End! Those are real hard to find. While I think the final two episodes are harmless and make a good attempt at wrapping up the series with a nice little bow, I myself cannot move past the glaring issues. One of the main issues I had with it was the bastardization of Tord's character. As said before in this thread, his personality was completely mutilated from what it once was. It sheds a completely new and unexpected light on the older episodes that really left a bad taste in my mouth. So he was *never* friends with the guys at all? Not even Edd? He was just using them as a means to an end? Kind of a slap to the face for long time viewers, if you ask me. The other main problem I have boils down to the writing. Edd is pushed to the sidelines in the final episode of *HIS* show (it's literally called EDDSworld) and Tom completely takes the spotlight. It wouldn't have been that much of an offense if this was just a regular episode, but it was the END, thus the name. Edd hardly gets any screentime or dialogue throughout, all while Tom takes over as the hero of the story and defeats the villain. I feel like making Tom the main character of the final two episodes was just poor and disappointing writing. I would have LOVED to see Edd defeat Tord in some wacky, goofy way that keeps the theme of the show -- wacky, goofy humor with 3-4 friends -- intact instead of butchering it into an out-of-character anime finale that tries too hard to be something it's not -- a serious story-driven drama, that is. but hey, that's just my hot take ;)
Its makes a little sense why not get a following and settle down make a base get som good equipment and then come back for the mech to take over the world
Right as this vid went out, I was animating your idea about a alternative end but except original tord gets blown up. So... I agree about the alt ending. It makes sense. (From an old video)
Also you would like this fan comic someone made on Tumblr. yes-asil.tumblr.com/post/141812976187/i-wish-the-ending-went-down-like-this-so-i-drew/amp I myself wanted that type of ending but nope.
Am I the only one noticing that the “Tord smells” photo in toms room hiding the button is so recent. Last time any of them saw Tord before he left was many years ago, so how did Tom get such a recent photo?
I definitely like how the end turned out but maybe it would’ve been better if tord didn’t try to kill his friends and apologized and it would end with Edd, Matt, Tom and Tord sitting and watching a movie I would have liked that kind of ending better but it is what it is
Cinnamon_edits Alt That would be good but it would change the story kinda. If he attacks and tries to kill them, they cant just be like “oh yeah! we forgive you.” especially Tom.
I go back and forth on this one because although I was excited to finally see Tord again, I felt like the episode sorta missed Tord's character and I also wasn't fond of Tom being the focus. Tord being evil is not unbelievable by any means, there are plenty of scenes in the older episodes that suggests he was devious. But, I actually think this new Tord was too over the top? I actually think Tord's lack of dialogue is what makes him so interesting in older episodes, he's not saying anything half the time but he definitely does express himself-I mean he did leave some sort of impression on fans for sure. I honestly think without the real life Tord to give any advice on the character, none of the others knew what to do with. I kinda think that's why the initial scene of him leaving left such an impact, it was out of character. Tord was a loose end in the Eddsworld canon, and I don't really know if anyone knew what to really do with him. He also had a few small arguments with Tom in real life, and when Tord left it only irritated Tom more when there was such a backlash from the fans (remember his "I never liked Tord anyway" shirt?) Idk, I think those things influenced this new Tord's character and it was easy to re-write him because there was naturally a lot of mystery to Tord. I think it would have been hard to write Tord no matter what, but when you don't have the real Tord, or Edd who probably knew Tord the best, you kinda get this weird mis-mosh of Tord's character overall.
@@frzt3371 to what extent though? A lot of Legacy episodes are written by Tom and Eddie, and I never got the impression they came from some kind of previous blue print. There is a Red Leader line in WTFuture, but that always felt like an Easter egg than a full fledged idea. Edd wasn't there when the episodes were written, and again Tord wasn't either, and that's why I think his character just came across super differently. Not to mention Legacy Tord was a metaphor for something Tom was going through, which I also just feel wouldn't have been a thing if these episodes were written by someone else. I don't dislike the direction they took with Legacy Tord, but it always felt off to me.
What I think would've been kind of neat is if instead of a random harpoon defeating Tord, Eddsworld took a page out of Regular Show's book. Have Edd, Tom, and Matt use the mech from Zanta Claws III, but with new weapons from past episodes. (i.e. the Vanity Mirror from Space Face, the Demon from Hammer and Fail, any of the nuclear things from PowerEdd, etc.) This way it makes it feel like the adventures that the guys went on feel like they *really mattered* in the end. I feel like that would at least make for a cathartic ending.
And after the big mech fight, Tord and Edd fight each other hand-to-hand (with silly weapons) just like the old days. Just like 'Bacon'. Them reconciling is how the fight ends.
I know I’m pretty late to this, but that is a completely brilliant idea! Especially the boxmas bot (the robot from Zanta claus III) using weapons from the past legacy episodes, those could all be great references. And also because that ending focuses on all three of them fighting Tord as a team instead of just Tom shooting the harpoon at him.
Cheers to: Every other person contributing to eddsworld; Paul and Patryck for helping out everyone; Tord for making his decision to leave; Matt for doing *so so so* much; Tom for coping and enduring the legacy; Edd for his magnificent start of it all 2003
If I can remember correctly, I think the whole Tord-Tom dynamic was a reference to the two’s real life distain for each other. Agreed heaps with every other point though.
In Tord's deleted video where he explained why he left Eddsworld (And also paying his respects to Edds family) he mentioned when making an episode (forget what one) Edd had some technical difficulties, leaving Tord and Tom by themselves, Tord said that the two (much like in the show) didn't get along very well. So that is most likely why they are a dicks to one another in EW
To be honest, when Edd started on Eddsworld, he didn't really make himself the main character. He put everyone in the comics. Even Tord, even though he had so few lines. Now when Tom started directing Eddsworld, he shouldn't made made "THE END" as a Tom and Tord episode. If this is the LEGACY OF EDDSWORLD, A SHOW THAT WAS CREATED BY *EDD* IN HONOR OF *EDD* He shouldn't have done that. Of course, Tom had a lot of weight on his shoulders and that's probably what made him accidentally do this. And yeah, there are expectations in the community too. And Wowee, we sure did give criticism and some rejection. Now that Matt is directing Eddsworld, it feels like back to its old self again. It's goofy, cheerful, and has good laughs! The legacy sometimes felt cold and dark in the comedy areas. Of course, there were jokes! It just felt like "Edd's dead... I guess this joke's funny... I gotta get back to work" It felt like the script writers felt that way. Which made the script bummed. If the script writers are bummed, then the script and story is bummed. Overall, I think the legacy was a great idea. I just don't like how it came out as. Which the tone and looks.
My theory about tord: When tord joined the Red Army it changed him he thought he didn't need friends he thought all he needed was power *I HIGHLY DOUBT THIS IS RIGHT!!!!*
My theory is similar to that, although it's more like a headcanon I guess. I believe Tord joined the army as a mechanic without knowing the true intentions, he was slowly manipulated by the " Red Leader " I think the Red Leader saw promise in him and.. took him under his wing, sorta? By that I mean he praised him, giving him a high position, when he had doubts made him feel guilty, aka stuff similar to cults- made him believe that everyone was out to get him and that friends suck a s s, and he was the only one who really " cared " about him. I wouldn't say this is a theory though, more like a headcanon.
i’m not the biggest fan of the clone theory but ngl it makes the most sense to why he’s so.. evil in the end. like, tord was always violent in the old episodes but never to the point he’d put himself over his friends, bringing him back for the finale was quite possibly my favourite thing eddsworld legacy has ever done, but they could have made him a bit more accurate to his original charavter
6:55 What if he was coming to edds house in secret too work on the robot. It would explain why it looks as if he was breaking in during the end part one
edd died from some kind of cancer(i don't remember what kind) half way through the space episode. if edd never died the show would go one for a lot longer. and most likely eddsworld is never coming back as well since to tord got spammed by fans
As a fan, the ending with Tom is actually correct, tho yes edd should have been there more. Tom is possessed by a rage demon. When tord opens his room in the background you see a blueprint of it. Toms demon is a rage demon and he was trying to piss Tom off to use the demon to his advantage. That’s why the rival is between the two, also why Tom has black eyes. A correction could be that edd should have tried to reason tord out of bullying Tom
Like really this is Eddsworld We’re talking about, i’m a bit disappointed they didn’t let Edd fight Tord, if there was a rewrite it should be Edd who fights back Tord even though he doesn’t want to
@@my-spooky-romance wel to be fair this does add some story to tom why does edd always have to be the main character also edd knew something was of but i just wouldent have seen edd shooting a giant harpoon or destrooing a robot like that sooo i would say that im glad tom was "the main character" even though edd still got alot of atention.
Someone pointed smth out in Part 1 of The End when Tord said " Just like old times. " during Tord closing the curtains, it slowly morphs back to Edd's Style
Maybe it would’ve made more sense if Tord came back to warn the boys about all the old enemies coming back and they have to work together to fight them off, maybe adding in Paul and Pat or something with the musical and big action scenes. It might be more fitting for his character where he’s violent and a loose canon but he still cares about his friends despite being gone for so long. Then it really feels like it’s wrapping everything together for the end. The original group is back together for the episode, fighting off villains and having some goofs mixed in.
With the robot one, tord probably left due to the fact of the Red army needing him while they were trying to stay low. If he left with the robot, I'm sure it would draw the polices attention. The reason he came back is either because he's scared they'll find it or that the Red army needed it more than ever.
“But I thought we were friends!” “Friends? What? No! Do friends beat each other to a pulp over women and bacon? Do they blackmail each other with old photographs? Do friends let each other get eaten by zombies? Matt! Do friends lead an army of zombies against you? Do they say things like ‘so I’m stuck with Tord?’ when they’re put together?” “I don’t remember doing that!” “You don’t remember anything, apparently! And Tom! Do friends shout ‘in your face!’ when you don’t get picked to do something? Do they get into arguments with you and turn into a giant monster that nearly kills you when they get mad!?” “Hey, it’s not like I wanted to do that!” “Ugh! What do I even bother? You said it yourself. I am not your friend. When I joined the army I realized what I could be without you three holding me back! I can finally fulfill my dream of taking over the world in the name of Communism! Who needs friends when I have this? I have comrades! I finally have a good reason to use the giant robot I kept secret for years! Now I’m unstoppable!” “But Tord! You can’t take over the world! That’s evil!” “Evil!? You hypocrite! I know you had plans of your own to take over the world with bacon! Tom literally tried to destroy Christmas! And Matt has successfully taken over the world twice! Don’t think I don’t know about your time travel shenanigans!” “Okay that I do remember…” “So don’t bother saying ‘I thought we were friends.’ You want to know the real me? Well HERE I AM!!!”
If tord went to the "big city" then he couldn't have done anything with a giant robot, and he would also probably get arrested for having it, as it is most definitely a legal weapon. It would be wiser to form his future, then come back for the thing that he wanted, which explains why he tries to fly away.
I imagine the scene this way - Before he’s about to drive off with Paul, he says “goodbye, old friends” and after the car zooms out of frame we hear something like “I’m sorry”, symbolizing his thoughts. Would be emotional which is good for an ending.
I liked the end but Tord was a really good character then he left then he came back and wants to kill everyone? (FREAKING MINT) I mean come in they changed Tord so much. If Edd was still with us, (Rip Edd.. ;(. ) I’d wonder what he would’ve done with this. It makes me wonder what Edd could’ve made out of the end.
I always felt the Legacy Era was just an extension of TomSka channel rather than being Eddsworld material. I like most of the episodes from that time when I first watched, but going back now after watching TomSka animations and vids from the years you can tell his musical and joke structure choices are present throughout. I also am one of those people that thought there was not enough focus on Edd during The End. If it was the finale, the main character and the one that inspired the Eddsworld Legacy Era should have been the focus instead of the one running the show at the time. That being said, we got more Eddsworld in the end, which overall I am grateful to have been able to watch and hold dear. TomSka and his crew deserve our thanks.
Edd was good friends with tord and by far the saddest. also edd couldn't do as much dialauge or its something like that id believe cause he passed away at the time so tom had taken the lead
The problem is with this comment edd was dead for 3 or 4 years and many episodes had already came out plus everyone knows he died of cancer Still doesn't make sense why there was a lack of edd in the finale
I like that you admitted that you love The End, but still took a step back and gave criticism. That is an extremely important thing to be able to do. I also really love The End, but it’s cool to look at people’s criticism and other perspectives in the respectful way that you did. In my opinion, the only thing that could have made The End better is having Tord doing his animated counterpart’s lines, but I also know about the crazy people blowing up on Tord when he just wanted to be able to do his own thing and can’t even use his real name online, which would have been potentially problematic for irl Tord and giving him the unwanted attention he has been avoiding for years. Jamie Spicer-Lewis does a really good voice for Tord, and it’s okay. A Lesson I’ve Learned From Life Addressed To Literally Everyone: You don’t have to absolutely hate everything about something to be critical of it. Criticising something you like is important because it can help with improvement of your art or writing. And just because you have issues with something doesn’t mean that you have to hate it. You can still enjoy something, even if other people don’t like it or if you have criticism of it. You can also look at something that you don’t like and see what is good about it, which can also make your art or writing or film or whatever you do better as well. You don’t have to only have the highest respect or burning hatred for something.
I think it was because The End doesn't feel like a true ending to me that I've stuck so close to this fandom for nearly 3 years now. It doesn't feel like a grand finale to me. It feels like an origin to WTFuture. Which is really interesting, but that's the problem. I feel like I've been dying of anticipation for a conclusion that might never come (assuming Eddsworld Beyond doesn't revisit this). So I think I've been searching for closure to the story in whatever way I could find in, be that in other fans' creations, or in my own fanfiction. It just felt like all this deserved that much. And man, I gotta say, it has been a blast. Maybe I haven't gotten the full closure I wanted yet, but I'm so happy I found this fandom with all its talent and passion and mutual appreciation. :)
fantastic video! however, i think the reason so many questions were left unanswered were because mattlobster is gonna swoop in and answer them when he (hopefully) continues eddsworld...or maybe because tomska done KNEW that the fans were gonna make fanfiction to continue it. solid video nonetheless. also, i'm thinking of making a remake of the end that adds an explanation to why tord did what he did, and then the whole musical and stuff happens, and at the end they're just like "finally we found a new house!!11!!11111!!11!!" and then a mysterious figure is like "aren't you forgetting someone, you idiots?" and they look over and its tORD AND HE SINGS HELL TO YOUR DOORSTEP AND TVBGRRGVBDFBSRG (im a song writer, so hell to your doorstep would be the only non-original track in it) i really wanna make it because uhhhh yeah i love writing songs, especially villain songs!! so uh yeah!! haha!! plus the musical idea was SO FUCKING COOL...i loved it...but like i get why they would cut it out. i mean, i'm thankful they did, but i'm also kinda disappointed, but yknow,,,i get it lol that's all i got so far, though, because right now im working on 74729769398934869286 other fanfics lol
Honestly, I love how it focused on Tom and Tord. Sure it could’ve used a lot more Edd but the conspiracy theories made behind the stars of this episode being Tom and Tord is really fun to look into. Especially because we never get an explanation about Tom being the monster from power Edd and this episode gives us some evidence towards what might’ve happened. They could’ve ended it differently, much differently, but I liked how it turned out. Yet it needed more Edd and Matt ngl.
It's never too late for them to remake The End, whether it would be the new canon or not, albeit without Tom's voice but still I'd love to see them make the best version possible
I would like the end more if they brought back more old stuff and made it clear for the red leader. Where Tom and Tord become better friends and yes, agreed, more of Edd. And revisit more old adventures along with ones tord missed without tord being a total jerk to tom. I didn't really like how it was all about Tom and Tord, and honestly it could've been better if Edd saved the day but not because of Tord's evil doing but instead old villians they've fought. And would be cool to see it end the same as it originally did, but including Tord as they all sit to watch a movie My opinion is probably *really* bad but I thought it seemed nice in my head.
I have a small theory on why tord left the robot and then came back for it: Maybe he wanted to get stronger and more powerful to take over the world that's where the red army comes in. He became a leder and became stronger and came back for the robot to destroy the world. Now maybe he left the robot because he didn't want edd, matt, and Tom to question the robot and so he kept it hidden then came back for it Once again this is JUST A THEORY! (I'm not sure if this is at all true but it's my opinion and my theory)
I like to think that he made the robot and then left it there hidden and then go and join the red army, then when he became the leader he went back for it.
6:49 tord's car license plate is a reference to how tord in real life is of norwegian descent because Its NØR5K1 which is another easter egg for how the word norwegian in the norwegian language is norsk so thats a cool easter egg
One thing I noticed was that Tord still has on his red hoodie under his ‘Red Army’ coat. I think he did that to remember the others and their adventures! Another thing, the personality change for Tord was very surprising, which is why I don’t completely like the story of “The End”. However, I think that he changed because of the years he trained to be the Red Leader. I just hope there’s a redemption arc 😔🥺
I’m gonna be honest but my friend group asked me which youtuber Does the best at explaining a Eddsworld theories, I said Tomee Bear, and I’m not kidding
7:00 maybe it had something to do with irl problems, like they were just removing the character from the show, but wanted him to come back for the final episodes
NGL, The End may be the closest way we will get an Eddsworld movie. The visuals and animation are cinema-worthy, the music is great, and it's a decent ending to the series.
2:00 I can explain why Tord's making Tom Mad. Tord is a Bad Guy. BUT He also is good, He Was Just Trying To Make Tom ANGRY Till Toms Monster Form Appear. I cant confirm so here.. If he was a bad guy He Would Experiment Him and make more to take over the world. If he was a good guy he's Making Robot To Prepare Tom's Wrath and tell everyone to leave now and tord Gonna Take Care Of Him. So i cant confirm it.
“Let me get one thing straight,I LOVE the end.” Me,who tried to see if my friend was interested in eddsworld, she watched a bit of the end, then told me she didn’t really like it: I do too.
The only thing I didn’t like about The End was Tord’s sudden change in character. I really miss the old Tord, and I think the Spares theory would be a great plot twist for the show, with the real Tord being unknowing to the whole situation all along.
THE END was actually the first episode of the series I watched. I got into the fandom in like 2018 or something. And I wanna say, I totally called Tord being the villain. I saw the scene when Tom finds him and the first thing I said was, "I don't trust this devil horned ketchup bastard." XD
Although the end plot was kinda poorly done you have to think about what they were going through when this happened. It was rushed because tom wanted to wrap this up for the fans but they were all mourning edds passing. I'm very disappointed in the fact they tried to make Tord "evil". Very. But tom was depressed and pressured in this production I agree with what your saying
My biggest gripe with the end is that they didn't even try to bring back the actual Tord. I imagine that they did that on purpose specifically to bastardize his character. And in terms of writing, the end isn't satisfactory, and I feel that showing such blatant disrespect for the memory of the friendship that existed between all of the real-life crew in the manner that they did in the episode ... makes it for me my least favourite episode. Tord went from the goofy gun guy to a maniacal villain with no explanation, no real backstory to explain it outside of (probably very incorrect) fan theories, and it feels and seems entirely unnecessary. If it were up to me, I would've had the final episode be one last grand adventure for the original crew, spanning multiple episodes, sporting the occasional flashback to earlier times, and during the credits reel, have a speech from Tom, Matt and Tord thanking the fanbase for keeping the show alive and keeping the memory of Edd in their hearts and minds. And whilst that would have it's own issues, it would be a far better way to end the show than what we actually got. And really, this alternative ending would have given the fanbase the closure that they needed.
@@youmeltube The reality is that the Tord we all knew would never stoop to doing what "Tord" did in The End, even if he had undergone an enormous amount of change. And even if he had changed that much, it would still be out-of-established-character for him to declare his friends as being null and void. My point still stands that this is still somewhat disrespectful to the memory of their friendship and adventures.
@@Mordakai Reunions are rarely happy and cheerful. What would've been the point of bringing the character back just to have...*another* Eddsworld journey with them? You need to DO something when bringing an old character back.
@@youmeltube Oh, I don't disagree that they should have done something. But there are far better things that they could have and should have done in doing so. Check my original comment for instance. Also, I'm not going to comment on your experience of reunions, but from what I've seen reunions are often happy if the people in question are friends. Which ... only adds weight to the argument that this is a bastardisation, and not character development.
If Edd was skeptical of Tord sooner, we wouldn’t have the lines close to the end of Beaster Bunny “I did it” “We did it Edd, we saved the town.” “I WON” “I remember when you were the smart one”
5:58 I know that even flat arc villains can be great like frieza in dragon ball z but the problem is that Matt was a good person and became evil which means that he went through the fall arc which means that he couldn’t change to a villain without a motivation to be
I do agree with the points you mentioned in this video, but there is something else you are missing. When Edd first started his show, it wasn’t planned to be this giant elaborate story line leading up to the big final episode. It was just him and his friends having fun. The whole “Tord betrays his friends” plot line didn’t come in until later after Edd had passed and the remaining team needed to wrap up the series. Tord left in the earlier episodes due to hate he was receiving on the internet, so he didn’t want to be on the show anymore. The creators just used this at their advantage when writing the end. As for the point you made about Tom being the main character instead of Edd, I agree with you, but there may be a reason for that as well. Tord and Tom actually did sort of always dislike each other in real life; only they put up with it because they were both good friends with Edd. That might of been another inspiration for the plot of the end episode. As for the lack of comedic value, I agree there as well, but I also think that the dramatization of it really adds to the episode. It really gives you a feeling of “yea this is the end.” I think the amount of comedy is just right and if the whole thing was just jokes then it wouldn’t feel so complete. It’s not so uncommon to see other shows and media with the genre of comedy take a dramatic turn. So this is just my opinion and you don’t have to agree with me, but I think the end did a great job of finishing off a long lasting legacy. So, in reality, this show was just Edd and his friends having fun. The little constant jokes put in there (for example, little references to the red army) just so happened to conveniently lay out to form a pretty cool underlying plot. The creators of the end definitely used this at there disposal when making the final episode, and I think it worked well. I appreciate this video and all the points you brought out. I understand that you probably won’t see this sense the video was released a month ago, but I hope you do. I hope I made a little sense haha and may Edds legacy live on 💚
I think that it all go's back to the first "episode" where tord and edd where fighting over a girl.Tord basicly wins that fight but she ended up being gay wich made them both kinda mad and they just peeped at them (Like Creeps).I think thats when Tord took it to far and made a plan to win the fight again.Later Tord left the cast and part of that plan was to say he wanted to make it in the big city and thats when he got paul and patryk to help him if he was ever defeted and thats why they came to his rescue at the end of "The end part 2".Also the gay couple was refrenced 2 times when tord shows up(In part 1 you see tord and edd peeping like creeps in a photo and in part 2 when Toms looking for houses they where one of the house owners).
4:45 And by series long soft arc, you mean they hint at it in two whole episodes, never bring it up again for TWO YEARS, and then bring it back for the finale like "Oh yeah, Red Army were a thing, weren't they?" I'm sorry, it just frustrates me how Tom and Eddie clearly didn't know how to use the Red Army in a way that actually enriched the show and just turned it into a glorified background element that gets slightly ascended for the finale.
I had made my friend watch ''The end'' 1 and two, (without revealing the name of the show,) and asked him who he thought was the main character. Since there was'nt a lot of focus on Edd, he answered Tom. So yes I can confirm, There was'nt a whole lot of Edd in those two episodes. All tho, I did really like the end.
Even though The End was very fun and enjoyable and I still really like it. My only problem with it was what they did was Tord since he's basically an old friend of Edd and it was kinda weird they made him so evil.
ah im probably a bit late to add some of my ideas but yeah, totally agree with the points you have on the end. perhaps the use of characters could have been different. Okay so yeah, Tord comes back to their house and well...Matt doesn't really mind, Edd is neutral, and Tom grows suspicious. What they could have done is perhaps explored the good side of Tord (with Matt and Edd interacting with him, etc.) but Edd also grows suspicious of some certain actions, leading to Tom and him in a way investigating or trying to find out what Tord is really doing (finding the bad or mystery of Tord). In a way, Edd is in the middle (still using him as the "protagonist") but this is a perfect way to use him and a still tie him up with Tord's reappearance. This would have happen if Tom hadn't gotten so upset with Tord :P On getting to know Tord's real intentions - I definitely agree that their could have been a scene with Tord doing his own thing (explaining to the viewer, the viewer only seeing what he is doing). The viewer gets the first reaction rather than the rest of the boys. Idk - this is just some brain storming, a fan just making up storytelling stuff. I really enjoyed watching your video and seeing how us fans can experiment with what the show has given us and interpret to ourselves in our own way.

Honestly, my favourite theory as to why Tord was so out of character in The End is the one where Tord's a failed clone from Spares that escaped, and the non-clone Tord went off to do whatever, totally unaware of the clone.

@The Random House well, Tord is very overrated in the fandom, so for example he wouldn't be as popular anymore. And stuff like red army wouldn't really be that much of a thing. Also less tomtord, dear god yes.
Tord is overrated. I get it, he has an interesting mystery behind him but he barely even spoke. Matt is the most underrated and best character in my opinion who deserves more ;_;
(The real life Matt is the one who made me laugh the most too in most videos alongside Edd. The OG team was awesome, good to know Matt stayed and rest in peace Edd!)
@@Duke-Orgulje Matt is funny.
Just like old times :3
But of course, with the massive amount of changes made to Tord's character and his appearance out of the blue, I suppose some cloudiness would be necessary to build plot.
Well, there's this one piece of theory that could make sense. Do you remember the clones? Someone theorized that one of the Tord clones, a very bloodthirsy and power hungry person, survived. And at eddsworld: the movie™, the real Tord will come back.

Tord: NO! >:(
YES
You do have to know that before edd passed him and Tom had already planned on told being red leader
This.
I feel like that would at least make for a cathartic ending.
wel the harpoon wasent random but i get your point that isent such a bad idea.
And after the big mech fight, Tord and Edd fight each other hand-to-hand (with silly weapons) just like the old days. Just like 'Bacon'. Them reconciling is how the fight ends.
@@carrot708 Honestly, that's really good idea too! Eddsworld started off with Edd and Tord, it makes sense that it ends with them too.
Cheers to:
Every other person contributing to eddsworld;
Paul and Patryck for helping out everyone;
Tord for making his decision to leave;
Matt for doing *so so so* much;
Tom for coping and enduring the legacy;
Edd for his magnificent start of it all 2003
If I can remember correctly, I think the whole Tord-Tom dynamic was a reference to the two’s real life distain for each other.
Tom handled eddsworld when he was in his depression years so that probably explains why some episodes feel more colder and darker
My theory about tord:
When tord joined the Red Army it changed him he thought he didn't need friends he thought all he needed was power
*I HIGHLY DOUBT THIS IS RIGHT!!!!*
I think that’s the canon explanation, but again, the episode never tells you that.
his family may have been in the army, forcing him to join
everything going on consumes his personality, so he leaves
maybe moving targets changed him
My theory is similar to that, although it's more like a headcanon I guess.
I believe Tord joined the army as a mechanic without knowing the true intentions, he was slowly manipulated by the " Red Leader "
I think the Red Leader saw promise in him and.. took him under his wing, sorta? By that I mean he praised him, giving him a high position, when he had doubts made him feel guilty, aka stuff similar to cults-
made him believe that everyone was out to get him and that friends suck a s s, and he was the only one who really " cared " about him.
I wouldn't say this is a theory though, more like a headcanon.

That's actually what I thought!
“But I thought we were friends!”
“Friends? What? No! Do friends beat each other to a pulp over women and bacon? Do they blackmail each other with old photographs? Do friends let each other get eaten by zombies? Matt! Do friends lead an army of zombies against you? Do they say things like ‘so I’m stuck with Tord?’ when they’re put together?”
“I don’t remember doing that!”
“You don’t remember anything, apparently! And Tom! Do friends shout ‘in your face!’ when you don’t get picked to do something? Do they get into arguments with you and turn into a giant monster that nearly kills you when they get mad!?”
“Hey, it’s not like I wanted to do that!”
“Ugh! Now I’m unstoppable!”
“But Tord! You can’t take over the world! That’s evil!”
“Evil!? You hypocrite! I know you had plans of your own to take over the world with bacon! Tom literally tried to destroy Christmas! And Matt has successfully taken over the world twice! Don’t think I don’t know about your time travel shenanigans!”
“Okay that I do remember…”
“So don’t bother saying ‘I thought we were friends.’ You want to know the real me? Well HERE I AM!!!”
If tord went to the "big city" then he couldn't have done anything with a giant robot, and he would also probably get arrested for having it, as it is most definitely a legal weapon.

fantastic video! however, i think the reason so many questions were left unanswered were because mattlobster is gonna swoop in and answer them when he (hopefully) continues eddsworld...or maybe because tomska done KNEW that the fans were gonna make fanfiction to continue it.
solid video nonetheless.
also, i'm thinking of making a remake of the end that adds an explanation to why tord did what he did, and then the whole musical and stuff happens, and at the end they're just like "finally we found a new house!!11!!11111!!11!!" and then a mysterious figure is like "aren't you forgetting someone, you idiots?" and they look over and its tORD AND HE SINGS HELL TO YOUR DOORSTEP AND TVBGRRGVBDFBSRG (im a song writer, so hell to your doorstep would be the only non-original track in it)
i really wanna make it because uhhhh yeah i love writing songs, especially villain songs!! so uh yeah!! haha!!
plus the musical idea was SO FUCKING COOL...i loved it...but like i get why they would cut it out. i mean, i'm thankful they did, but i'm also kinda disappointed, but yknow,,,i get it lol
that's all i got so far, though, because right now im working on 74729769398934869286 other fanfics lol

2:26 Tom has a checker tie matching his shoes, a black and white top hat and, a dartboard with Matt's face on it.
That's Tord's face, you can see the two hair spikes at the top, so it's Tord.
And would be cool to see it end the same as it originally did, but including Tord as they all sit to watch a movie
My opinion is probably *really* bad but I thought it seemed nice in my head.
I have a small theory on why tord left the robot and then came back for it:
Maybe he wanted to get stronger and more powerful to take over the world that's where the red army comes in. He became a leder and became stronger and came back for the robot to destroy the world. Now maybe he left the robot because he didn't want edd, matt, and Tom to question the robot and so he kept it hidden then came back for it
Once again this is JUST A THEORY! (I'm not sure if this is at all true but it's my opinion and my theory)
My personal theory is that he accidentally hit himself with the memory gun and he suddenly remembered it was a thing
Anyone here when edds world is back ?
I like to think that he made the robot and then left it there hidden and then go and join the red army, then when he became the leader he went back for it.
Yes
yeah I was thinking of that as well
I just realised, the power levels at 8:06 they’re OVER 9000!
It would be amazing to have a musical episode for the last episode to end the Legacy Series and the entire Eddsworld franchise!
I love how well they recreated Edd's animation style for a gag
6:49 tord's car license plate is a reference to how tord in real life is of norwegian descent because
Its NØR5K1 which is another easter egg for how the word norwegian in the norwegian language is norsk so thats a cool easter egg
I think Tom having the main character role was because it was the end of Tom working on the show, so they ended it on a high note

WOW it took me 6 years to realize there anime chick in the damn background...and questioning why the fandom has been drawing him a Hentai book.
It’s a joke from the much older episodes that Tord was addicted to Hentai, actually. This was probably just a reference to that.

I can explain why Tord's making Tom Mad.

Very. But tom was depressed and pressured in this production I agree with what your saying
the music used in the beginning already just pulled me right into the video, thanks
@@chrisprattofficial I remain unconvinced. Why would Tord want his character bastardized for instance?
@@Mordakai Just because a character has grown and changed (for the worse) over several years of abscense doesnt make them "bastardized"

4:45 And by series long soft arc, you mean they hint at it in two whole episodes, never bring it up again for TWO YEARS, and then bring it back for the finale like "Oh yeah, Red Army were a thing, weren't they?"
I'm sorry, it just frustrates me how Tom and Eddie clearly didn't know how to use the Red Army in a way that actually enriched the show and just turned it into a glorified background element that gets slightly ascended for the finale.

All tho, I did really like the end.
im just really confused on how tord gotten so "evil" all of a sudden
Is it me, or am I just not seeing anybody worry about edd. We needed to see more of edd. RIP edd in life, hope you rest peace fully.
To me, Tom being the main character in The End represents it as being his last episode.

*Years later*
Tord: oops i forgot this giant mech thing in the attic
