I love the way the back wheel is already turning, like a dog's tail when you reach for the lead hanging on the wall. Lets go.

What a thing of absolute beauty. Ecstasy to both the eye and the ear. You ever feel lucky like the run of the mill guy who ended up with the beautiful wife?

Old Triumphs are just in a league of their own. You can't really prepare for what they're like to ride. I remember getting mine delivered having never ridden one. I still think about that first time taking off through our neighborhood, that loud rumble as they engine break, that feeling of performance and speed despite being totally slow compared to modern sportbikes. So good

    • @douglasmason6112
      @douglasmason6112  2 роки тому

Yes, they have to be ridden to understand what it's all about.👍

Yes that is one beautifully turned out, well maintained motorcycle. I had a 1982 Triumph Tiger Trail 750 in a bright yellow. Rugged, reliable and a totally different riding experience to anything else on the road.

Really nice. My first bike was a 1969 TR6P that was retired from local police force. Rebuilt the engine. Sold it to a friend and it was stolen about 2 weeks later.

Never knew they did the TR6 in that colour scheme, same as the Tropy TR25W. Looks superb.

Just love the classic smooth sound of a 360 degree twin. The new 270 degrees sound like a V-twin, not distinctive.

Today, it's fine to just trundle around but way back when, the only thing that counted was to thrash the hell out of everything and then the CB750 came along and presto - reliable speed.

This is exactly how a Triumph should sound.. Today's models sound like sewing machines. The styling of these 60s Triumphs is just perfect too.

    • @TheGreatestBeyonder

To be fair… yes they do in stock form straight from the factory. But just add a $99 de-cat and they roar nicely. Add better mufflers and they sound great. But air-cooled will nearly always have a certain character that is hard to beat!

A unit construction pre-oil-in-frame 650 Triumph is a great usable classic to own with plenty of performance and spares back-up. Single carb models a better choice I reckon.

Yes, I had a '69 TR6 for years, a better bike for around town use & less fussy. But for fast back roads the Bonnie shines.

Beautiful bike. My 68 Trophy had a kill switch you had to hold down on the right side and the fenders were stainless. The only bikes that sounded as good as the Triumphs in those days were the BSAs.

Hey Doug, I have the twin to your bike which I bought this last summer. If I can make it run as smoothly as yours I'll be real happy. Points and timing were pretty bungled up. Happy New Year from Tim in upstate NY.

Hi, the original ignition systems were always problems with these bikes, the advancer will hang up, making erratic idle. Go with a Boyer unit. Good luck

Awesome motorcycle. My dad has one of these. It’s just sitting in the lawnmower shed in non working condition and I’m still trying to talk him into either giving it to me or selling it to me. I’m wanting to fix it up so I can have a good motorcycle.

Very smooth you have near perfect valve timing! Not trying to be that guy but try raising your idle about 100-200 rpm it sounds a rich under even after warming up at idle at the end of the vid you might also notice a little more top on your gearing
    just an opinion
a beautiful 69 you must be very proud

    1960s Brit biker joke...
-There's a stop junction two and a half miles away.
-What're you telling me now for?
-So you can tell your brakes!

The double-leading shoe front brake I had on my BSA Shooting Star was quite effective. It had good stopping power though of course would fade faster than a disc would.
