    I'm not sure if you've heard this before but i've been told that keeping potatoes in the fridge actually makes the starches turn to sugar more quickly which can sometimes leave you with a sweeter, gritty potato.

    See, that’s the thing and I’m glad you’ve mentioned it. Although I’m new to healthy eating, when people say that it’s too expensive to eat healthy, I’m under the impression that it’s because they feel they have to have meat. That their plate would look unbalanced or they would feel empty without the comfort of meat, which may actually weigh them down. That, they’d be stuck eating only leafy greens and for a lot of money. Nooo.

    Root veg goes bad faster in the fridge I’ve been told potatoes onions and garlic we always kept out in a produce stand or the cellar I haven’t got a cellar but I have a cabinet under the kitchen counter nice and dark and cool that’s where I put them and I put my tomatoes in my fruit bowl too

  • @BabeRuthuk
    @BabeRuthuk 7 років тому +20

    Hey Rachel, not sure if you know but tomatoes are best kept out the fridge. They will taste a lot sweeter when you eat them! (Top tip!)

    • @RachelAma
      @RachelAma  7 років тому +19

      I know but I love them when they're hard and you bite into them and get a cool burst of tomato too much. The same way I love bananas in the fridge because i like them hard and cold lool i know im a weirdo for it! Xx

    As for the carton from Japan, it’s soy sauce mixed with dashi (fish broth). Here’s some info from the company:
    Ingredients: Soy sauce (including wheat and soybeans) (domestic production), mirin, salt, grape-fructose syrup, starch syrup, sugar, dried bonito (fish), dried bonito (another fish), protein hydrolyzate, kelp / seasoning (amino acids, etc.), alcohol
    This dashi soy sauce is a combination of Kamada's soy sauce and traditional dashi soup stock. The complexity of the soy sauce complements the richness of the dashi resulting in a well-balanced seasoning that can be used for all types of dishes. Try it over tofu, or on meat and fish dishes to add a little more depth, or try it on grilled vegetables. The uses are endless.

    I've ordered your book and copied some of the recipes. Been vegan for over 30+ years. I made the Burmese Tofu and Chana. I read some of the comments below, but I also keep my tomatoes and avocados in the fridge. i never kept my limes and lemons in there, but I'm gonna try it cause when one leaves them out it they can get hard and moldy.

    I know I have more condiments then a grocery store aisle of condiments! You don't get just Mayo over there do you? That is mayonnaise!! If it's not moldy then use it expiration dates are only for a company's legal purposes. The only thing that requires a date is infant formula. And cans will last long after you're dead. Refrigerated Tomatoes equals no flavor. Temperature shuts down the chemical responsible for flavor and I've left them out on the counter for 3 weeks or more and they've been fine but they taste like a good tomato. Dry sprouted quinoa I got mine from Thrive Market but corroded quinoa aids in digestion and people say it does not bother their stomach ever. You could also Sprout your own. You live at home?
