There was a period where he killed as part of an ongoing series written by Miek Grell, which saw a departure from classic GA and a more "realistic" take on him. He has also killed on other occasions such as Hal Jorden and Cry for Justice. That is the big divisor between comic fans and the tv fans. The show was released right after the Nolan Batman trilogy ended, so it does take inspiration from that as well as some Batman villains like Firefly. He still does fight GA villains such as Count Vertigo, Brick, Merlyn ( who is a more complex character in the tv show) and Eddie Fyers. He and Deathstroke fought each other multiple times in the comics, such as in the Mike Grell run, the Jud Winnick run and more recently the New 52. The show has tried to move towards a lighter tone, such as in season 4, but negative critical reception caused it to return to a darker tone in season 5. This may change in season 6 but that is unclear at present. I just thought people need to know in case they had trouble differing between the show and comics.

Actually now that I am doing a rerun of Arrow after watching this list, I have to say that Oliver Queen in Arrow is not a family man, sure he worries about Speedy and Roy, never the less, he is more like Batman, ruining every relationship that he come across, if this was really Oliver Queen, at least the one that I have read in the comics, he would have been married to Felicity by now, it really inconsistent that they would built so much a relationship since Season 2 to ruin it in Season 4, when Queen really never risked in ruining his relationship with Black Canary after they hookup, Arrow Queen is a more like Batman than the Queen from the comics.

Can anybody tell me what comic issue I should start at for the Green Arrow? I have the first 2 issues of the New 52 Green Arrow but those seem to take place long after he becomes the Green Arrow, and reference a lot of things that I don't know

I'd like to point out that the character your referencing as "Oliver's father" Is actually Simon Lacrioux/Komodo, while Robert Queen is responsible for shaping Oliver into Green Arrow AND the head of the Arrow Clan of The Outsiders, that character your showing is not Robert Queen
