Do not chop.Do not cut anything. This is a beautiful piece of reliable, dependable,NOT SMALL.motorcycle, the kind that died ten-something years ago.NOT A STARTER BIKE,DAMMIT.U can tour the world on that exact bike as is,and u cant say that for many 1000-1300cc toy-motorcycles nowdays.Dont let polished nickel and aluminum fool u,this is a serious life time machine, underestimated, cheap and humble.Real bargain.
There you go again, like so many short-sighted people--"a starter bike." I'd be offended, if I didn't realize you just don't understand. I began riding in 2007, at the age of 57. I bought a Shadow VT600. I've put 164,000 miles on it, traveling coast to coast (twice) and border to border and many points in between. Starter bike? Gimme a break. I'm 6'1" and 210 lbs. I have no desire for another bike. Starter, finisher. And ride anywhere. Never trailer it unless it's to the shop (never yet). If you're going, ride.
Hell yeah brother, these bikes are built to last for a reason, so you don't have to buy another one. The only way my '04 VT600CD will die is if I die alongside it after getting intimate with a tree or lamp post or some shit.
@@mikepino4954 No problem keeping up with traffic, if that's what you mean. Some people complain about the high RPM at 70, etc. Well, it's all I've ever known--first bike, started riding in 2006; only bike. I have no complaints, only joy.
It's meant to be an easy to ride, light, non-intimidating, low bike with no worry about being overpowered Good for you to do so much cruising in it. They're extremely well made and great to be water-cooled. Mine was happiest at around 60mph.
I got one about a year and a half ago and I’ve taking it across multiple state lines. I have a 750 but I really have fun on the 600. I’m planning on taking a coast to coast (LA to New York) and I’m not sure which to take. The 750 or the 600 but after reading this I might just take the vlx and then take another coast to coast on the 750 later. Thanks for sharing. These comments are great cause it’s a comment from people who ride.
