This is so useful, I have my exams soon and I wasn't really getting the hang of surds but now it makes so much sense. Thank you for posting this AMAZING LIFESAVER because I get surds now :)
I know this is random but in one of the questions you did the grid method and it made more sense to me than the foil. I haven’t seen another video that used it but I appreciate it
I love the videos these are literally the only things getting me through my GCSEs but maybe consider making the playlists easier to acces for example algebra as one playlist, just a suggestion.
Thanks for that comment, been meaning to update my website as my videos are becoming unmanageable and I haven't really updated website since last year. Do you think if I made that better people would use it or do I need to focus on sorting out the youtube end of things?
Just to defend the class room teacher, it is much easier to explain stuff in a one on one situation than in a classroom full of students. That is why a maths tutor can be very beneficial.
sir i didn't get the very first question in which u have to find the value of a ... square root of 5 and square of 3 should be divided like square root of 5 divided by square root of 3...plz sir explain it my gcse are very close n my maths sucks ....
Tironomentalatic Thanks for the comment, I think I am better in my later videos (I hope) although I dont have the most exciting voice any way, also when I did these I was rushing to do lots to help my students, which meant I was doing them late into the night so was really tired :(
Wow thank you so much for giving such hard questions!!! I'm not joking...These helped a lot !! I was trying to find some good videos and then I found Yours...Thanks for helping :) You should be a little more enthusiastic though :(
He would be, if hot girls weren't only attracted to meathead a-hole Jocks or Smooth talkers or Rock Stars , or those horribly broken guys who need fixing lol
hello, this is one of the best youtube surds videos i have seen but i dont understand how the top question at 2:40 is 10 root 5 as i got 9 root 5 and i did for the root of 80 : root 4 times root 20 which then simplified 2, 2 , root 5 overall and then i did for the root 180 : root 9 times root 20 and 9 again, is a square number and got 3 ,2, root 5 then i added them up and it gave me 9 root 5 pls explain this thankyou
Ninic1371 does it have to be multiplied by root 5? if so how come and is there a way to know for every surds question on which square/ which two number two use seeing as they seem to give different answers
Ninic1371 It is a bit like cancelling fractions eg 20/30 = 10/15 = 2/3 or 20/30 = 4/6 = 2/3 you get the same answer if done properly but you must keep taking out square numbers until there are none left. so your r80 = r4r20 = r4r4r5 = 2x2xr5 = 4r5 which is what you got and r180 = r9r20 = r9r4r5 = 3x2xr5 = 6r5 not 5r5 so 4r5 + 6r5 = 10r5
RawMaths It's an A** question in the higher certificate, and that is all the information that is given :D But I managed to get it using the rule (that you should totally cover in a video): a+b*sqrt(k) = c+d*sqrt(k) IF a, b, c, d and k are constant rational numbers. then a=c and b=d.
That seems a very hard question for GCSE maths what board is it from do you know, I would quite like to get my hand on some really tricky questions like that.
RawMaths The text book that I got it from was: 'Collins Further Maths Practice Book' by Trevor Senior. It is a level 2 certificate and is not a very well known course. Here is a link to the Collins website: www.collins.co.uk/product/9780007513208/New+GCSE+Maths+-+Further+Maths+Practice+Book
That was not why I made this video, but I understand your comment. If you need a video on the basic techniques of manipulating surds can I suggest this one - ua-cam.com/video/JVuCrq2ugok/v-deo.html
I like how you're going for the teacher-whose-sick-of-their-students-and-just-wants-to-get-home approach. Very easy to grasp.
his sigh at 6:14 describes my life right now
+Coolpersony7 Yeah fucking riveting isn't it?
im gonna leave it at 69 likes ;)
so chill, quick, easy to follow and understandable. thanks.
Thanks, helped a lot! Better than all the videos I've watched about surds.
Thxs for the vote of confidence it is nice to such positive feedback.
Way to enthusiastic
Yea I wish he would calm down a bit he’s getting a bit too excited

RawMaths i think just playslisting youtube vids would be a good start :))
dude this video is so good thank you so much
Fantastically explained. Thanks a million. Please please please do more videos 🙏🏼
Very nicely done! Where can I get a soft copy of this (and other) exercise?
Thanks-in-advance.
Thank you tons really did help me grasp a topic i was struggling on.
Brilliant video, would it be possible to make difficult questions on some other topics for A level math(I just started C1 a few weeks ago
+luj jaleel Already done a few check these out ua-cam.com/video/9Z19UiJGYK8/v-deo.html
you're better at explaining these than my teachers at a grammar school
+Jack Why do you sound so surprised ;)
+Jack the teachers at my grammar schools are bad at explaining too, my maths tutor is the best at explaining things though
Just to defend the class room teacher, it is much easier to explain stuff in a one on one situation than in a classroom full of students. That is why a maths tutor can be very beneficial.
no need to flex😂
This was very helpful. Many thanks!
Excellent video! Thank you! :)
Thank you :) Just the reminder I needed!
Thank you. this video has really helped me revise for my exam
Really great video helped me grasp this tricky topic!
hes less enthusiastic than my revision
Finnaly a video with my sort of pace at doing maths questions. I understood clearly and I am now confident with surds! Cheers RawMaths !!!!
Talk about saving my life last minute.
Glad I could help :)
thank you, I have exams soon and this was really helpful
Really helpful and useful as it explains clearly and simply.
On the question at 5.20 can someone explain how the 3 sqrt5 over 6 turns into sqrt5 over 2. I'm confused at the numerator decides by the denominator
Aye thx u explained everything my teacher was tryna teach us in 3 weeks and u did it in 1 vid xD
same w/ mine
At 5:20 why is the answer root 3 over 2????
+Kinzah Gulzar You divide the top and bottom by 3, since nominator is just 1, it is just root 3 over 2.
+John Nguyen ahh I understand thankyou!!
thanks for the help, i know it's old haha but it's very useful and easy to follow for someone at the start of a level maths
Thank you so much for this video !
James McParland No problem thanks for the comment

Great video helped me a lot! By the way could you sound a little more enthusiastic when doing videos

Lord Kaiser The Elder you guys are so self centred
@@catsowo21 How is that being self centred?
Ultra clearly concentrating on his own desires
For the question at 7:30, wouldn't 8√3 simplify to 2√3? Great video btw and very helpful. Thanks
Thanks for the comment but nope it is correct.
+RawMaths thank you very much!😊
Hey is this extended and is there a huge difference between GCSE and igcse
Thank you, I know how to calculate surds but that last part of every question always confused me like that part : in the for of K root 2
Thank you. Very helpful.
+Izzy R Thanks for the feedback.
Wow........ Thanks a lot for sharing this video.
thank you so much got exam today :)
Nice, thxs for you feed back :)
I don't get it at 5:20

Such a good video thank you so much 😁
4:59 how is it 4 root 6?
put some passion into your videos
EXACTLY
still gets his job done by explaining..if you dont lie the way he presents himself watch another video...simple AS:)
Thank i know with this my son will pass his exam
this is so helpful thanks!!!!
Thxs for your comment, it is really nice to get some feedback :)
Very helpful video, thank you
9:37
bruh you're amazing
Thanks this helped.
I don't get this... if √25 is simplified then wouldn't it be 5√5?
Ok I got it. Thanks
so useful thank you!
Nice breathing 😂
Good video though
Thanks

ah ok thanks alot!!

Brilliant
Thank you so much.
Really stuck on a question (hopefully somebody can read this and help me out): 3/(sqrt(5) + x) = 3*sqrt(5) + y.
I think you would need more information to solve that as you have 2 unknowns and only one equation.
