to play devil's advocate, imagine trying to describe one piece to someone like duck who knows nothing about it. it's not that surprising when we talk about people wielding weather control rods, being a cyborg that if I remember correctly relied on cola as a fuel source, having transforming reindeer, or even having the power to just make a ton of hands appear wherever, or things like somehow becoming like a pro boxer all due to a prop afro.
After watching this death battle I do agree with the final results however one thing that was definitely downplayed was the speed for both characters. Erza has been shown fighting enemies that can either blast lightning bolts or move at lightning speeds themselves. And Zoro has casually reacted to lightspeed attacks on a number of occasions. There are feats for both characters that better represent how fast and strong they are in the anime/manga.

When Zoro lost his 2000th, he got really pissed off and then approached her that night to finally fight with REAL swords and not wooden training swords. He lost that one, he made his promise to Kuina to become the best... and she committed fall-down-stairs literally the next day. "Belly? Why is the bounty belly?" Friggin' anime versions propagating mistranslations... the currency in One Piece is BERRIES, not Belly. Zoro's one of the most dangerous and hightest-bountied individuals in the world, though it didn't start out that way. The progression of these characters throughout One Piece, from nobodies to international warlords, is truly spectacular. "Stretchy pirate kid? Why do they wear straw hats?" That "stretchy pirate kid" is one of the greatest protagonists in history, the honorable and legendary pirate captain known as Monkey D Luffy. Having eaten of one of the famous cursed Devil Fruits at the age of four, his whole body was transformed to rubber, making him very stretchy- a power he uses to deliver haymakers that have leveled mountains at a range of hundreds of feet. Through being saved by a close friend in his early childhood, a pirate called "Red-Haired" Shanks, he learned an important lesson about sacrifice and personal loyalties through Shanks sacrificing his arm to save Luffy from a sea monster. When this motivated Luffy to follow in Shanks's footsteps to become a great pirate and search for the Pirate King's treasure, Shanks gave him a straw hat he always wore and told him to one day return the hat once he had become a truly great and strong pirate. Luffy hasn't seen Shanks since that day, but the power of his presence never truly left him. Take note of this person. "Big reputation? Apparently he has a big bounty!" Actually, Zoro's reputation at the start of the series was down to him being a pirate hunter, a bounty hunter. He didn't get himself a bounty because all he did was bring in the guys the government was willing to pay for. In his own words, he needed something to pay the bills, and that just seemed like the simplest option. He caused no end of death and terror for so many, and yet because those were the ones the government wanted taken care of he was given no issue. After he joined Luffy and the Straw Hats, however, his bounty just kept climbing and climbing and climbing. What has the crew done in that time? Well, let's check: -Toppled a corrupt pirate and naval officer that terrorized a large village -Liberated an entire desert kingdom from a duplicitous side-hopping master manipulator that turned the citizens against their king -Declared war on the world government for daring to kidnap and execute their friend whose only crime was continuing to live having the ability to read specific ancient monuments that hold information the government doesn't exactly want people knowing about And they get PUNISHED for all of this. It's a corrupt, unjust, disgusting society that... unfortunately is one of the most realistic societies in fiction. And all of this explanation off of the back of one simple comment you made DO YOU SEE HOW FUCKING INCREDIBLE ONE PIECE IS "Why does he have three swords, though?" He had two swords, but he took his third and formed the Santoryu style after inheriting Kuina's sword. "Haki? Like, NHL?" Har-dee-har. It's a slightly generic magic system. Still cool, though. [and] peoples' appearances comically reflect their inner selves but also that's just what their physiology looks like." Kaku, the giraffe man, ate a Devil Fruit that turned him into a giraffe man. He was already a fierce swordsman, and then he just... happened to turn into a giraffe. He spent 90% of his time in his fight with Zoro trying to be all like "BEHOLD THE AWESOME MIGHT OF THE GIRAFFE" out of rather hilarious insecurities. "Are these the other Straw Hat Pirates?" Luffy, Zoro, and Nami only. There's seven others over the course of the series. I'd say more, but... well, I can't spoil EVERYTHING from now, can I? "Who was that dude?" That's your Patron, dude. It's Dracule Mihawk. I swear to Christ, if this doesn't get you to try One Piece, I can't with you. Get through episode 130. That's all I ask. 130 episodes. After that, I won't pester you.
I personally keep the episode 37 as the gateway point, if you are not hooked by then you never will... Yes, later One Piece is WAY better, but if someone can't watch 37, they never will 100+

Actually. One Piece's Filler is special. Why do I say that? Because even though it gets classified as Filler at the time of release, those filler episodes often have some importance in later episodes. This has happened so much that most if the so called filler episodes can't even be considered Filler. The premise and base of the show is adventure. If every episode they are doing just that, then there is no filler.(EXCEPT the weird Fillers when they're in a totally different era :/)

Its hard to vote against characters that are seen as one trick ponies. In this case Zoro proved that one trick of his is to powerful to tech out against.
What I love about One Piece is that it brings to life a lot of sailor and seas folklore, as well as the amazing character development-despite the fact that a lot of them look weird as hell. The fighting and techniques also get really wild and brutal, very good show.
You underestimate the strength of real wood used on spears, also that's why people learn to parry in an angle that will make the sword slide out of the way and get a chance to make the opponent go out of balance or maybe even disarm them. Nobody would try to block swords head on if they were knowledgable enough, not even sword or shield users would do it unless they were forced to be in a desperate enough situation. I just had to say this because what I read was just too one dimensional.

As a big one Piece fan from when this was made Zoro is much stronger now where the anime and Manga are (Ch 1019 by the way) Not goanna say more incase you ever want to watch it, but if you don't care about spoilers then I don't mind talking about it.
Personally I agree, I've seen both shows and Zoro can withstand and deal more damage than Erza could. I don't think it really is since it was already stated in this episode but just in case, small One Piece spoiler below, do not read if you wish to watch the series. In that scene where he takes all of Luffys pain he ends up covering the surrounding area with his blood and was prepared to die, he didn't because of his absolutely insane willpower. Oh and the giraffe is a person that ate a devil fruit that gave him the ability to turn into a giraffe, there are tons of other fruits, like the rubber fruit, fire fruit, lightning fruit, hell there's a fruit that lets someone turn into a phoenix.
So I agree with the outcome they came up with, but I also agree with you that they don’t often give all the information necessary. They’ve gotten better at not skipping over vital information as much recently, but it was horrible for a while.
So when Mihawk first fought Zoro, he initially used the smallest blade in his collection, claiming "I am not a man who hunts rabbits with a cannon." As you can probably guess, he beats Zoro singlehandedly.

When Zoro got hit with that bubble and you asked why he just stood there and took it. It's for good reason, One Piece doesn't make everything as simple as "I'm stronger than you so I win" although as you can see they are pretty strong the story sets up interesting circumstances.
Trying to understand anime that has decades of material in one video is a huge ask. Also, I am not sure who would actually win if they actually fought. But given how insanely durable Zorro is, he might be the winner. The dude's straight-up impossible to put down.
It’s not even a contest with Zoro and any other swordsman in anime she is the definitive best, and he just recently cracked the top 10 in one piece universe strongest and some people even consider that a stretch i’ve seen all of fairytale and one piece both are amazing

Colleen Clinkenbeard (yes that's her real name) Is the voice for Riza Hawkeye from Fullmetal. She also voices, ironically, Luffy from One Piece. IE Zoro's boss. She is also the voice of Momo from My Hero. So actually someone you're pretty familiar with. Darkness is voiced by someone else entirely though.
One Piece has something called "Devil Fruits" that give powers to the user and may even rewrite their body composition, like how the main character Luffy ate the Gum Gum Fruit and his bones turned into rubber whilst making him unable to swim ever again. So he's a pirate that can't swim, I always find that funny.
Zoro would have actually lost, because losing his childhood friend has made it impossible for him to actually raise a blade to any female opponent. The one exception is because THAT particular opponent was immune to standard physical attacks. He attacked WITHOUT using his haki, so he did ZERO damage yet traumatized the villain. Also, the one thing Zoro has never cut in his own show is people in half.
you're thinking of sanji, Zoro can attack any woman EXCEPT the one who happens to look like his friend. he once sliced a snow-harpy in half and terrified her so bad she forgot to phase through it.

Even if he were to strike a woman that was not a Logia, he would use the back of his swords. Heck, I suspect he only even went that far with Monet because she was attacking the lookalike. And that was after some anime seconds of pondering what to do. Even Sanji has said, IN THE SAME ARC, that Zoro isn't so brutal with women. Come to think of it, Tashigi was fighting Monet, because ZORO COULDN'T BRING HIMSELF TO ACTUALLY ATTACK! He didn't even kill the bounty hunter in Whisky Peak that was wearing nun garb. Yes, he fought Miss Monday, but that was WITHOUT SWORDS, so there was no danger of fatal wounds by just using his grip strength.

In the One Piece's World there are special fruits called Akuma no mi, also knows as Devil's Fruits, which gave whoever eat them a unique superpower in exchange of losing their ability to swim, becoming weaker if they touch sea water. And just like Neopolitan Ice Cream, this fruits comes in three sabors: Paramecia-Type Fruits, the Vanilla, are the ones that gaves the user a unique power that alters their bodies, for example Luffy, the protagonist, ate the Gomu-Gomu no mi which make him a "Rubber-Man", meaning that his body is completely like rubber. Then there are the strawberry flavor, Zoan-Type Fruits, which make whoever that eats them an animal-man, allowing them to obtain a hybrid or full transformation into the animal that is represented by the fruit. For example, eating a Inu Inu no mi, or Dog-Dog Fruit, makes you a Dog-Man, allowing you to transform in your normal form, a Dog Hybrid form or a full dog form. And finally chocolate, also known as Logia-Type Fruits. This ones are considerate the best Devil Fruits to eat because it transform you body into a nature element, allowing you to generate, control and even transform into the element that represents the fruit. Because of this last ability, you become as intangible as your element allows you to. For example the Mera Mera no Mi, or Flame Flame Fruit, that transforms you into a Flame Man. This fruits, on a downside, also gave you the weaknesses of said element.
kuma's power is that he can push anything with those paw pads on his hands. he can push air hard enough to punch paw shaped holes through rock, push away a person's pain (like he was shown doing here, though it's not shown what would happen if someone else doesn't take the removed pain onto themselves, like zoro did), and he can send a person flying around the world in a bubble.
also, the guy at the end of zoro's segment is dracule mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman. mihawk proceeded to stop zoro's onigiri attack with just a knife, to show zoro how far he had to go. this was in the very early portion of the story, less than 80 chapters in. we're currently at chapter 1106
also, the seduction armor was just used for a quick imagine spot gag. basically it was "my opponent knows every armor I have. well there is that seduction armor I bought recently. no, I have standards. I can't resort to something that embarrassing."
generally, it would seem that in a sword fight, Zoro just wins...baring particular circumstances or opponents. he wouldn't beat someone like trunks from dragon ball z for example, even though he is the better sword-fighter, most likely. and of course, at least at the time of this, he probably wouldn't beat Mihawk
You can always start Edens Zero when it gets a dub. It's created by the same guy who made Fairy Tail. Also, One Piece is just weird so it's best just to go along with it. And Zorro has the worst sense of direction in all of anime, possibly all of media. He once got lost in a STRAIGHT HALLWAY!
A Little Information for the Weird World of One Piece. One Piece is an insane world of absurdly large people and monsters. The humans live on thousands of islands, each with a different season, while the oceans are ruled by monsters that make Godzilla look like an Axolotl in comparison. A super corrupt world government and semi-corrupt Navy control most of civilized world. The pirates are also divided into two types - peace main (Adventurers that seek freedom and personal growth like the heroes) and Morganites (the murderous power-hungry greedy bandits that make up the majority of non-Navy villains) The big players have two main sets of powers - Haki divided into Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's Haki (the latter allows some people like main protagonist Luffy to render an army unconscious by will alone). The other power is Devil Fruits - mysterious magical fruits that grant Quirk-like super powers at the cost of never being able to swim again. There are three types - common Paramecia (limited transformations/abilities like Luffy's rubber body), Zoan (single animal transformations like the Giraffe man Koku who can become any combination of man and Giraffe), and Lugia (full elemental transformations such as Ace (Luffy's brother) ability to generate and turn into fire. Other sources of power include (steampunk) cyborgs (like Bear man Kuma and Straw Hat Pirate Frankie), super sentai style suits (like those used by Vinsmoke family and Straw Hat Pirate Sanji), and being of a non-human race (such as Fishmen and the Giants) Also - Spears may have greater range, but once a person gets past the spearhead, swords are superior.
Kyle get use to the "what" factor in anime. I mean it's kinda the point of them being so distant of reality (shonen I mean), and a lot of them are not similar at all.

Ah yes, Zoro, my favorite character from my second favorite anime/manga. One Piece is second only to Full Metal Alchemist for me, and even then I get more fun and entertainment from One Piece. And Erza is probably my favorite character from Fairy Tail too, but that’s not a high bar to clear since I find it very middle of the road in general. But yes, at the end of the day I don’t really believe that Erza holds a candle to Zoro. “What are these shows?!” Well Fairy Tail is a bit of a magicpunk setting, mostly late medieval stuff with some later technology sprinkled in and justified by magic (including things like cars and motorcycles). It’s the sort of setting that can justify almost anything simply by calling it magic (which is one of my biggest gripes, there’s not really a “system” for the abilities or powers, and you can pull literally anything out of your ass). One Piece on the other hand, hoo boy, anything can happen in One Piece because of how wacky and zany the systems are that create the setting, while being pretty solid and structured. It’s equal parts insane wild humor and badass awesomeness and drama. There’s never been a series that encapsulated the pure spirit of adventure like One Piece. It’s also full of mysteries, conspiracies, and the most colorful characters I’ve ever seen. Not to mention it shares a major theme with My Hero Academia: the inheriting of someone’s will, to carry their legacy forward. If you ever did decide to do a reaction series for either show, I can provide you with a list of filler episodes that you can skip in order to streamline the experience. Not that I’m expecting you to, but the offer is there.
What is One Piece? It's an epic experience! I recommend reading the manga, and watching the "Film" trilogy to get a grasp of what this journey is all about

Fairytale is popcorn shonen, enjoy the spectacle and some cool moments but don’t think to hard about it One Piece is anime Lord of the Rings+Game of Thrones, a deceptively simple adventure story that explores complex themes and ideologies through one of the greatest feats of Worldbuilding and foreshadowing. Seriously, Oda (the author) has setup plot points that pay off 600 chapters down the road and theirs still things from early One Piece that have yet to be fully explored. It’s a series where every answer gives the reader two more questions
What’s One Piece? It’s just a series that will ultimately become your favorite if you give it the chance. It will make you laugh, definitely cry, cheer, and smile uncontrollably. This isn’t an endorsement… it’s a warning. One Piece will consume you.
What's the joke behind the "Spear is a better weapon than a sword" thing? The Historical reason that spears were replaced by swords for infantry fighting is that Swords were better for that task, spears were mostly kept around for Anti-Cavalry use because of their reach, or because they were easy to make (just a piece of sharpened metal on a stick)
There are a few people out there who make videos about why Death Battle results are wrong if you ever feel like getting a different opinion. Also maybe try Superhero Beatdown from Batinthesun sometime. Theirs is decided by a pure popularity poll but they do usually make a follow-up video showing the other person winning, too. And they're very high-quality, well-choreographed live-action fights.
You should definitely check out One Piece. I recommend reading it, but the anime is good too. There's no need to rush, you can take your time going through it. But it is REALLY worth all the praise it gets.

After watching this death battle I do agree with the final results however one thing that was definitely downplayed was the speed for both characters. Erza has been shown fighting enemies that can either blast lightning bolts or move at lightning speeds themselves. And Zoro has casually reacted to lightspeed attacks on a number of occasions. There are feats for both characters that better represent how fast and strong they are in the anime/manga.

Friggin' anime versions propagating mistranslations... the currency in One Piece is BERRIES, not Belly. Zoro's one of the most dangerous and hightest-bountied individuals in the world, though it didn't start out that way. The progression of these characters throughout One Piece, from nobodies to international warlords, is truly spectacular.

That "stretchy pirate kid" is one of the greatest protagonists in history, the honorable and legendary pirate captain known as Monkey D Luffy. Having eaten of one of the famous cursed Devil Fruits at the age of four, his whole body was transformed to rubber, making him very stretchy- a power he uses to deliver haymakers that have leveled mountains at a range of hundreds of feet. Through being saved by a close friend in his early childhood, a pirate called "Red-Haired" Shanks, he learned an important lesson about sacrifice and personal loyalties through Shanks sacrificing his arm to save Luffy from a sea monster. When this motivated Luffy to follow in Shanks's footsteps to become a great pirate and search for the Pirate King's treasure, Shanks gave him a straw hat he always wore and told him to one day return the hat once he had become a truly great and strong pirate. Luffy hasn't seen Shanks since that day, but the power of his presence never truly left him. Luffy hasn't gone a day since without wearing that straw hat (They call him "Straw Hat Luffy" for a reason), and named his pirate crew in its honor.

Actually, Zoro's reputation at the start of the series was down to him being a pirate hunter, a bounty hunter. He didn't get himself a bounty because all he did was bring in the guys the government was willing to pay for. In his own words, he needed something to pay the bills, and that just seemed like the simplest option. He caused no end of death and terror for so many, and yet because those were the ones the government wanted taken care of he was given no issue. After he joined Luffy and the Straw Hats, however, his bounty just kept climbing and climbing and climbing. What has the crew done in that time? Well, let's check:
-Toppled a corrupt pirate and naval officer that terrorized a large village
-Liberated an entire desert kingdom from a duplicitous side-hopping master manipulator that turned the citizens against their king
-Declared war on the world government for daring to kidnap and execute their friend whose only crime was continuing to live having the ability to read specific ancient monuments that hold information the government doesn't exactly want people knowing about
And they get PUNISHED for all of this. It's a corrupt, unjust, disgusting society that... unfortunately is one of the most realistic societies in fiction.

This might be a good time to mention that, well... as you can probably tell from the aesthetic, One Piece isn't just your average anime with physical laws similar-ish to our own that just so happens to look like a cartoon, it... straight up operates on cartoon logic. To quote Geoff Theoux, a very popular anime person on UA-cam, "One Piece isn't just a manga that looks kinda cartoony, it's a manga set in a cartoon world. A place where animals can talk if no one tells them they're not supposed to, things get heavier the bigger they look even when they're full of air, punch strength is determined mostly by wind-up distance... [and] peoples' appearances comically reflect their inner selves but also that's just what their physiology looks like." Kaku, the giraffe man, ate a Devil Fruit that turned him into a giraffe man. He was already a fierce swordsman, and then he just... happened to turn into a giraffe. He spent 90% of his time in his fight with Zoro trying to be all like "BEHOLD THE AWESOME MIGHT OF THE GIRAFFE" out of rather hilarious insecurities.

Actually. One Piece's Filler is special. Why do I say that? Because even though it gets classified as Filler at the time of release, those filler episodes often have some importance in later episodes. This has happened so much that most if the so called filler episodes can't even be considered Filler. The premise and base of the show is adventure. If every episode they are doing just that, then there is no filler.(EXCEPT the weird Fillers when they're in a totally different era :/)

Its hard to vote against characters that are seen as one trick ponies. In this case Zoro proved that one trick of his is to powerful to tech out against.
What I love about One Piece is that it brings to life a lot of sailor and seas folklore, as well as the amazing character development-despite the fact that a lot of them look weird as hell.
The fighting and techniques also get really wild and brutal, very good show.

You underestimate the strength of real wood used on spears, also that's why people learn to parry in an angle that will make the sword slide out of the way and get a chance to make the opponent go out of balance or maybe even disarm them. Nobody would try to block swords head on if they were knowledgable enough, not even sword or shield users would do it unless they were forced to be in a desperate enough situation. I just had to say this because what I read was just too one dimensional.

Personally I agree, I've seen both shows and Zoro can withstand and deal more damage than Erza could. I don't think it really is since it was already stated in this episode but just in case, small One Piece spoiler below, do not read if you wish to watch the series.
In that scene where he takes all of Luffys pain he ends up covering the surrounding area with his blood and was prepared to die, he didn't because of his absolutely insane willpower. Oh and the giraffe is a person that ate a devil fruit that gave him the ability to turn into a giraffe, there are tons of other fruits, like the rubber fruit, fire fruit, lightning fruit, hell there's a fruit that lets someone turn into a phoenix.
So I agree with the outcome they came up with, but I also agree with you that they don’t often give all the information necessary. They’ve gotten better at not skipping over vital information as much recently, but it was horrible for a while.
So when Mihawk first fought Zoro, he initially used the smallest blade in his collection, claiming "I am not a man who hunts rabbits with a cannon." As you can probably guess, he beats Zoro singlehandedly.

When Zoro got hit with that bubble and you asked why he just stood there and took it. It's for good reason, One Piece doesn't make everything as simple as "I'm stronger than you so I win" although as you can see they are pretty strong the story sets up interesting circumstances.
Trying to understand anime that has decades of material in one video is a huge ask. Also, I am not sure who would actually win if they actually fought. But given how insanely durable Zorro is, he might be the winner. The dude's straight-up impossible to put down.

Zoro would have actually lost, because losing his childhood friend has made it impossible for him to actually raise a blade to any female opponent. The one exception is because THAT particular opponent was immune to standard physical attacks. He attacked WITHOUT using his haki, so he did ZERO damage yet traumatized the villain. Also, the one thing Zoro has never cut in his own show is people in half.
you're thinking of sanji, Zoro can attack any woman EXCEPT the one who happens to look like his friend. he once sliced a snow-harpy in half and terrified her so bad she forgot to phase through it.

Even if he were to strike a woman that was not a Logia, he would use the back of his swords. Heck, I suspect he only even went that far with Monet because she was attacking the lookalike. And that was after some anime seconds of pondering what to do. Even Sanji has said, IN THE SAME ARC, that Zoro isn't so brutal with women. Come to think of it, Tashigi was fighting Monet, because ZORO COULDN'T BRING HIMSELF TO ACTUALLY ATTACK! He didn't even kill the bounty hunter in Whisky Peak that was wearing nun garb. Yes, he fought Miss Monday, but that was WITHOUT SWORDS, so there was no danger of fatal wounds by just using his grip strength.

In the One Piece's World there are special fruits called Akuma no mi, also knows as Devil's Fruits, which gave whoever eat them a unique superpower in exchange of losing their ability to swim, becoming weaker if they touch sea water. And just like Neopolitan Ice Cream, this fruits comes in three sabors: Paramecia-Type Fruits, the Vanilla, are the ones that gaves the user a unique power that alters their bodies, for example Luffy, the protagonist, ate the Gomu-Gomu no mi which make him a "Rubber-Man", meaning that his body is completely like rubber.
Then there are the strawberry flavor, Zoan-Type Fruits, which make whoever that eats them an animal-man, allowing them to obtain a hybrid or full transformation into the animal that is represented by the fruit. For example, eating a Inu Inu no mi, or Dog-Dog Fruit, makes you a Dog-Man, allowing you to transform in your normal form, a Dog Hybrid form or a full dog form.
And finally chocolate, also known as Logia-Type Fruits. This ones are considerate the best Devil Fruits to eat because it transform you body into a nature element, allowing you to generate, control and even transform into the element that represents the fruit. Because of this last ability, you become as intangible as your element allows you to. For example the Mera Mera no Mi, or Flame Flame Fruit, that transforms you into a Flame Man. This fruits, on a downside, also gave you the weaknesses of said element.

kuma's power is that he can push anything with those paw pads on his hands. he can push air hard enough to punch paw shaped holes through rock, push away a person's pain (like he was shown doing here, though it's not shown what would happen if someone else doesn't take the removed pain onto themselves, like zoro did), and he can send a person flying around the world in a bubble.
also, the guy at the end of zoro's segment is dracule mihawk, the world's greatest swordsman. mihawk proceeded to stop zoro's onigiri attack with just a knife, to show zoro how far he had to go. this was in the very early portion of the story, less than 80 chapters in. we're currently at chapter 1106
also, the seduction armor was just used for a quick imagine spot gag. basically it was "my opponent knows every armor I have. well there is that seduction armor I bought recently. no, I have standards. I can't resort to something that embarrassing."

generally, it would seem that in a sword fight, Zoro just wins...baring particular circumstances or opponents. he wouldn't beat someone like trunks from dragon ball z for example, even though he is the better sword-fighter, most likely. and of course, at least at the time of this, he probably wouldn't beat Mihawk

A Little Information for the Weird World of One Piece.
One Piece is an insane world of absurdly large people and monsters. The humans live on thousands of islands, each with a different season, while the oceans are ruled by monsters that make Godzilla look like an Axolotl in comparison. A super corrupt world government and semi-corrupt Navy control most of civilized world. The pirates are also divided into two types - peace main (Adventurers that seek freedom and personal growth like the heroes) and Morganites (the murderous power-hungry greedy bandits that make up the majority of non-Navy villains)
The big players have two main sets of powers - Haki divided into Observation, Armament, and Conqueror's Haki (the latter allows some people like main protagonist Luffy to render an army unconscious by will alone). The other power is Devil Fruits - mysterious magical fruits that grant Quirk-like super powers at the cost of never being able to swim again. There are three types - common Paramecia (limited transformations/abilities like Luffy's rubber body), Zoan (single animal transformations like the Giraffe man Koku who can become any combination of man and Giraffe), and Lugia (full elemental transformations such as Ace (Luffy's brother) ability to generate and turn into fire.
Other sources of power include (steampunk) cyborgs (like Bear man Kuma and Straw Hat Pirate Frankie), super sentai style suits (like those used by Vinsmoke family and Straw Hat Pirate Sanji), and being of a non-human race (such as Fishmen and the Giants)
Also - Spears may have greater range, but once a person gets past the spearhead, swords are superior.
Kyle get use to the "what" factor in anime. I mean it's kinda the point of them being so distant of reality (shonen I mean), and a lot of them are not similar at all.

Ah yes, Zoro, my favorite character from my second favorite anime/manga. One Piece is second only to Full Metal Alchemist for me, and even then I get more fun and entertainment from One Piece. And Erza is probably my favorite character from Fairy Tail too, but that’s not a high bar to clear since I find it very middle of the road in general. But yes, at the end of the day I don’t really believe that Erza holds a candle to Zoro.
“What are these shows?!” Well Fairy Tail is a bit of a magicpunk setting, mostly late medieval stuff with some later technology sprinkled in and justified by magic (including things like cars and motorcycles). It’s the sort of setting that can justify almost anything simply by calling it magic (which is one of my biggest gripes, there’s not really a “system” for the abilities or powers, and you can pull literally anything out of your ass). One Piece on the other hand, hoo boy, anything can happen in One Piece because of how wacky and zany the systems are that create the setting, while being pretty solid and structured. It’s equal parts insane wild humor and badass awesomeness and drama. There’s never been a series that encapsulated the pure spirit of adventure like One Piece. It’s also full of mysteries, conspiracies, and the most colorful characters I’ve ever seen. Not to mention it shares a major theme with My Hero Academia: the inheriting of someone’s will, to carry their legacy forward.
If you ever did decide to do a reaction series for either show, I can provide you with a list of filler episodes that you can skip in order to streamline the experience. Not that I’m expecting you to, but the offer is there.
What is One Piece? It's an epic experience!

One Piece is anime Lord of the Rings+Game of Thrones, a deceptively simple adventure story that explores complex themes and ideologies through one of the greatest feats of Worldbuilding and foreshadowing. Seriously, Oda (the author) has setup plot points that pay off 600 chapters down the road and theirs still things from early One Piece that have yet to be fully explored. It’s a series where every answer gives the reader two more questions

What's the joke behind the "Spear is a better weapon than a sword" thing? The Historical reason that spears were replaced by swords for infantry fighting is that Swords were better for that task, spears were mostly kept around for Anti-Cavalry use because of their reach, or because they were easy to make (just a piece of sharpened metal on a stick)

i actually love watching one piece, its charming and epic and gets serious later on, it also helped me get through quarantine.
There are a few people out there who make videos about why Death Battle results are wrong if you ever feel like getting a different opinion. Also maybe try Superhero Beatdown from Batinthesun sometime. Theirs is decided by a pure popularity poll but they do usually make a follow-up video showing the other person winning, too. And they're very high-quality, well-choreographed live-action fights.

There's no need to rush, you can take your time going through it. But it is REALLY worth all the praise it gets.
