To answer your question, no, flying is not normal in One Piece. The "flamingo guy" has a string power and can basically do spider man moves to move around the air. The strings are just so thin they're basically invisible
I think you should react to “The Breathtaking World of One Piece”. It’s an amazing spoiler free video of the world of one piece and it’s amazing world building and diversity with scenery and locations. I’m sure you would be amazed!!! Lots or love DeeBee!
1000 episodes is a lot, but that's because of the pacing of the anime. Each episode, after a certain point, is only one chapter of manga content. It's a lot faster reading the manga, but that makes it harder to react live. A fan edit called One Pace cuts it down to about 500-600 episodes and makes it way easier to catch up to the anime, but it's still not complete and might jump around in quality as they made the episodes out of order and got more skilled as they progressed. I do still highly recommend using One Pace if reading the manga still seems like a daunting task, but there will be some moments where you have to either read or watch the regular version in the pre-timeskip. After doing the math, I determined that One Pace makes watching the anime take around 300-400 hours, or roughly enough time to casually 100% a modern AAA game twice.
You won't understand the hype if you don't know the story.... Gear 5 is his awakening and the concept of JoyBoy goes back hundreds of chapters. This is the kind of payoff that Oda delivers with One Piece. You would LOVE it if you read the manga. Even watching some condensed anime would be great. One Piece is the best piece of fiction i have ever experienced.
@@iforgot4837I was gonna say the same thing. As someone who jumped into the manga to avoid spoilers like G5, you would think seeing it animated even with or without context would be pretty hype. If he loved it without the context, he'd especially love it once given the context.
14:09 the looney tunes sounds effects are very much intentional and its ridiculous. Gear 5 is all about Luffy's imagination and with Luffy, he's already a goofy and fun character and give him the ability to literally do ANYTHING, you get fun fight scenes that take very heavy inspo from old show cartoons (the eyes popping out, the bump in the head with the dizzy animation, the running still in the air.) Fun Fact: For Gear 5, animators all over the world joined in to animate this and the upcoming gear 5 episodes
i was underwhelmed when the cartoonish fight started but now my heart is swelling whenever i see it. its the perfect gear for luffy, there is nothing more fitting than a cartoonish fighting style. after rewatching a lot of arcs, i felt like this was set up from the beginning. nika is just luffys personality, nothing more and nothing less and i absolutely love him like this. his gear 5 laugh makes me want to cry in a corner
I think it fits perfectly since I have a theory that Nika was actually a rubber hose cartoon character. Fits everything we have and no unnecessary steps to explain why the Nika fruit has the person who consumed it made of rubber, a zoan with no natural alternate forms other than the awakened form, his heartbeat provides a soundtrack while in the form, it can manipulate the world at the users whim, and everyone in their area of influence demonstrates cartoonish reactions while in his awakened form. Everything makes sense if people deified this cartoon character to the point where the mythical Hito Hito no Mi model Nika zoan fruit formed.
To sum up the power of each gear [4:50] Base Luffy [5:38 ] Gear 2nd - Luffy speeds up the flow of his blood, which makes him faster and stronger by circulating more oxygen and nutrients through his body. The clip shown was it's first use, the steam you see in this transformation is his sweat that has been vaporized due to his increased metabolic rate. Before the time skip he had to use his legs like in the clip to activate this mode but after it he is able to to use any limb. [7:16] Gear 3rd - Luffy bites his thumb and blows air into his bones, which he can then move between body parts, making them the size of a giant. Once again the clip shown was it's first on screen use, after the time skip Luffy is able to better control where the air is located, he primarily only inflates his fist and wrist, this did have a negative side-effect of shrinking Luffy after the deactivation of the gear but this side effect was removed as Luffy has better control of the technique [8:07 ] Gear 4th - In this Gear Luffy has three known transformations, though all excoriate Armament ¹Haki and the general powers of the Gum Gum Fruit. To activate this Gear Luffy coats his arm in Armament Haki and and blows a massive quantity of air into it, by doing this he inflates all of his muscles and then the rest into his body. This Gear extremally increases Luff's strength and speed several fold, though as a downside he can only stay in this form for 20 mins and once deactivated he will be unable to use Haki for 10 minutes * [8:07] Boundman - This form makes use of Luffy's rubber body by allowing him to retract his arms and legs inside of his body to increase the power of his attacks, in this form Luffy can even fly by retracting and shooting his legs out in quick burts, while in Boundman form most attacks will simply bounce off of Luff's body since even though it is hardened by the Armament Haki it is still rubbery. The downside of this form are that Luffy can't stay still and when not moving simply bobs up and down in place and he can't control his landing due to his bodies warped proportions * Tankman - The base form of Tankman is unknown since we have only seen it's Stuffed Version, this form greatly increase Luffy's durability since he is able to tank and deflect piercing strikes from an enemy that was able to cut him while he was in Boundman form, while in tankman most of the air seems to go to his torso *Snakeman - In this form Luffy only slightly enlarges his forearms, legs, and upper torso with the rest of his body staying with his normal proportions, the spread of Haki is also limited to his arms and legs. This form boosts Luff's speed, and allows him to use "Phyton" which allows him to change the direction of his attacks and while Boundman can also use Phyton in Snakeman form the attacks continuously accelerate the longer they last while increasing the attack's power and speed until the attack hits, this form also uses another form of Haki known as Observation Haki to make his punches into semi-homing attacks [11:13] Gear 5th - The awakened form of Luffy's devil fruit, in this form Luffy's body receives a massive increase in strength, speed, and durability, Luffy's heartbeat also takes on a musical rhythm known as "The Drums of Liberation", this form also has a faster passive recovery rate that works even if Luffy is unconscious. Luffy is also able to use the limb inflation of gear 3 and the muscle inflation of Gear 4 while in this form with out the need to pump air into his body like he did previously, he can also effect his surroundings (as seen in the video) as well as other people around him. It has been stated that the power of this form is only limited by the users imagination ¹ Haki - A mysterious power all living things are capable of using, though many don't notice it or fail to awaken it, there are three types Armament, Observation, and Conqueror's Haki, most people will focus on training the Haki their best at, though you can improve with all types with more work. *Armament Haki is used as armor to defend against attacks and as a way to boost the power of attacks *Observation Haki is used as a sixth sense allowing people to sense the presence, strength, and emotions of other people, as well as limited precognition *Conqueror's Haki can only be awakened by a select few (1 in several million), it allows one to unleash their willpower to overpower the will of others, usually knocking out weaker willed opponents it can also effect the surrounding area by damaging objects
Gear 2nd's negative effect is it shortens Luffy's lifespan since he's forcibly pushing his body beyond its limits. As its explained later the increased blood flow would normally cause his heart to explode but he's made of rubber so he can handle it. He manages to reduce that issue though after the time skip by activating it in short bursts in specific body parts
The thing is about Gear 5 is that it isn’t really a power up, it’s more just Luffy’s imagination being set free, which works really well since pretty much every One Piece fan was either laughing or smiling while reading the chapter last year or watching the episode. It’s just so well built up throughout the series and it just fits Luffy’s character so well
@@birkgoblin567 It's luffy do you really think he knows that his devil fruit just awakened? His brain works like this "If it's make me more powerful and free than it's a new gear" that's it
@@Mugiwara_Sanjii I think you guys miss my point, original comment said it isnt really power up while it actually IS a power up, thats why luffy calling it gear 5th.
About the flying being Canon in One Piece, there's a technique where if you run hard and fast enough, you're literally able to step on the air, allowing you to basically fly.
And so unrealistic too! Then again i did saw someone pretty much do a real life double jump where bro jumped mid air then did a flip mid air which for some reason was enough to launch him again in air higher... Wtf is that dude bro broked the law of physics
@@agonys5s yeah i know that, it's just like why is our God so booooring bruh like one pieces god or i guess joyboy gave them the ability to fly and have superpowers, man's why didn't our God give us superpowers as well. )=< (this is a joke)
*most* characters can't fly in One Piece, it's all fruit dependent, but there are ways to "walk" on air with a technique. Also, the ki blasts you saw when he went Gear 4 was his arm bouncing in different directions, but you may have noticed that before this was posted
Wish it had shown Gear 4th Tank Man and Snake Man as well, but yeah, without context, Gear 5th it's nearly incomprehensible to no one piece fans haha So good to see you reacting to it tho! Edit: Just a quick note tho, Oda (the One Piece's manga author) never intended to make "Godly level" transformations, with Gear 5th all he wanted was to draw his fight scenes with as much freedom as possible, just to do his own thing, which is very cartoony, since he loved watching it from his childhood.
@@bluetone-amv dude, come on… besides marine Ford, when exactly did u feel tension? Lmao, One Piece was always about fun and good storytelling, not once I felt “tense” for Luffy
@@bluetone-amvI wouldn't say untouchable, even with Gear 5 Luffy was still having trouble with Kaido and only beat him because he was confident in tanking Bajrang Gun instead of dodging it
I think the special thing about one piece in terms of revealing powers is that usually, the world around the main characters already hint on certain things being possible and canon, for a very long time. So most of the time it doesn't feel like they're pulling new powers out of nowhere, because it's been somewhat reasonable and explained before, it's just taken to another level.
@@pokerus1359 The fun thing about powers is that nearly any power can be broken, if you take it far enough. At some point, you're bound to start messing up physics HARD.
@@Antis14CZ true. Hell, most of the quirks in MHA are actually insane; They just have too many limitations or requirements. Ururaka can MANIPULATE GRAVITY, but can only use it to negate gravity. Same thing goes for just about ANY power.
I love you calling just base line Luffy a Looney Toon, given that yeah, Oda very much had that in mind for him, since it meant that even when things got dark and serious, he could still keep some light heated humor and fun in things just because of how silly Luffy's fighting style was. Then we get Gear 5, which is Luffy just straight up making the world around him operate on Toon Physics. Truly it is, the most ridiculous power ever, and it is glorious!
Yooo it even reached here! Glad you enjoyed it! When the chapter with the reveal first debuted last year I couldn't stop laughing when I read it, and they managed to nail the same effect with the anime too. I am hyped for the upcoming episodes! Whether or not you do end up watching/reading the whole series I'm glad you were able to enjoy this moment with us!
For Gear 2, Luffy uses his legs as pistons and speeds up his blood flow, increasing his speed and strength in the process. This also heats up his blood, which is why he starts to steam and turns pink. For Gear 3, he bites into his finger, down to the bone, and then inflates it like a balloon while also increasing his attack power. Gear 4 is him combining the principles of 2 and 3, and focusing on certain aspects for Bounce Man or Snake Man. Gear 5 is the peak of his power, allowing him to turn the world around him into rubber, be it the environment or living things. I hope this explanation helps, Dee!
Gear 5 is the awakening of the gum gum fruit. Awakening your devil fruit allows you to use your abilities on the world around you, so with Luffy's rubber powers and imagination, gear 5 literally allows Luffy to turn the fight into a Looney Tunes cartoon ergo the most ridiculous power. Also just have to say I loved the old school intro brought me right back to watching your RWBY reactions.
@MirageMewtwo if he doesn't know what it is and is potentially going to watch the show. Do you really wanna tell him one of the ultimate climaxes that took 20 years to get here? Obviously he's watching a video which spoils way more. But if you're elaborating and explaining even more then you're definitely just adding to the spoilers instead of to reasons to watch the show. It ruins the experience of seeing it and finding it out for yourself.
Just because he asks something it doesn't mean you have to answer it. Imagine never watching naruto and your fav youtuber starts watching a UA-cam video that summarizes the great ninja war. And then he asks how it ends. And you just tell him how it ends. Because he asked. Kinda ruins everything. People ask questions but answering them ruins the show. Let them enjoy it. Seems pretty basic understanding to me.
@@optimistprime2751 The only thing I said that wasn't blatantly shown in the video is how awakening works and that is revealed literally hundreds of episodes earlier.
One piece context: There exist a technique every character can use called Haki. It a manifestation of a person's will giving them physical reinforcement, 360 perception, and can touch another person's Haki (meaning turning into fire or smoke doesn't stop them from punching you) and appears black for us to see Gear 4th. Mixed with Haki uses his Rubber Body to make Pistons out of his limbs Each devil fruit has an Awakening. DonFlamingo has the string fruit, allowing him to make strings (hence why he can fly) but once awakened he could turn objects into strings. Allowing him to twist buildings by just being near them Luffy's awakening is very similar. Making the world around him Rubber... To the point it becomes "Rubber Hose Animation"
One clarification/fix: Black haki isn't "for us to see", even though it functions that way. Black Haki is simply stronger than clear Haki - There's a number of characters that have visibly used Haki (punching logia users, etc.) even after it was fully explained, that had "clear" haki. And Luffy's red haki is basically him reinforcing his armament haki with his conqueror's haki.
The thing about gear 5, although to the person from an outside perspective might see most of these transitions as goofy or silly, it took a lot of pain, love and dedication from Luffy to reach all of these first 3 transformations. Especially gear 4 as he had lost something so close to him and so he trained for 2 years, having the crew to disband and come back after there training which we call The Post Time Skip and/or Pre-Time Skip. During Pre-Time Skip where he obtained gear 2 and 3 he was going to lose a member to the government and so he used all his strength so he could to get the said crew member back. Looking into gear 5 tho, compared to all the other transitions, his wasn’t gained through training. It was the fruit itself in which has awakened and given him the ability to be free, the only limit being the imagination of what he could do. Joyboy as we also call it, is the definition of freedom and happiness. Which is also a reference to West African slaves who has been said that they needed to dance, sing and celebrate to bring Joy for the slaves. So this transformation itself is the embodiment or happiness and liberty all the while he makes others smile with his goofy dances and laughs.
The gear 5 is a thing called awakening a thing that happens to devil fruit users when they master their devil fruit to the maximum levels, awakenings make the powers of the devil fruit reach higher levels of their powers, Luffy's powers have always made him look like a cartoon character even you said it yourself, so his awakening now he doesn't just become a cartoon character he straight up becomes one, that's why you see so many cartoony expressions and sound effects in the gear 5 battle, they are entirely intentional.
One Piece and Final Fantasy XIV are easily the best & most emotional stories I have ever experienced. And I experienced hundreds of stories in various media. Shame you gave up on both. I hope you give them a chance again. Both have a really slow start, but MY GOD is the pay off INSANE and both have so many absolute PEAK moments!
I dunno if people have recommended this but there's a fan cut where they remove extra frames that makes it feel dragged out and removed the explanations for the long arcs for weekly viewers. It's called One Pace. Dressrosa arc, where Gear 4 appears, is originally 118 episodes long. One Pace cuts it down to 48.
flying is kinda canon. In that scene with the flamingo dude and luffy gear 4, while luffy was doing some type of trickery which I did not understand involving bouncing off the air, the other guys was haging himself on the air by stepping on strings, because his fruit allows him to create them.
I loved this so much! I'm glad you watched this even if you're not into OP. 🥰 The thing I liked about G5 is that it just made Luffy more Luffy ya know? Silly Time!
Awesome video. Loved your throwback clip and your collection sneak peak. The Overlord stuff was interesting. Didn't know you were into anime like that haha. With regard to One Piece and it's DBZ level moment right now, I think what separates OP from anything else as mainstream is the lore. The OP lore is incredible. You might have heard "800 years" mentioned and it goes to show how far reaching the world building goes. For that reason I think watching or reading the manga will allow you to enjoy it most. Honestly I would recommend reading the manga just to catch up because it's faster. And then you can continue with the anime if you want. They add a lot of padding to the anime that's frustrating for someone trying to catch up.
meanwhile Dragonball has as much padding as a 16 year girl who's a late bloomer... i've seen the "padding" that so many complain about, and honestly it's still done way better by One Piece. and note i was a big Dragonball fan for ages. this isnt coming from a place of hate.
there is always One PACE. it literally guts 500 episodes worth of minutes. ( FIVE HUNDRED EPISODES) it cuts all the "dead air" with the stare downs and endless paneling that the anime uses to try to pace 1 chap per 1 episode. one pace also edits the audio and music so it still feels fluent.
It's great that you're interested in One Piece, Dee! Just give it a read (or a watch) yourself, and you'll see what all the hype is all about. Personally, I recommend the manga version, and then rewatch all the key scenes, especially the big fight scenes, in anime. One Piece is fortunate enough to get a lot of its fight scenes adapted beautifully. Even then, the overall animation just keep improving the more seasons it's going into. Also, if these clips can get you hyped and excited. Imagine how it would be like for the die hard fans that have been following the series for close to 30 years. Lastly, you should also check out some original crossover animation where Goku meets Luffy (and also Toriko).
oooooh "DORIME 9 CHO CALLABU SPECIAL" fucking love that crossover ssj3, gear 3 and whatever Toriko used was such a good shot if they remake it with Toriko´s infinite nail punch form, gear 5 and mui woof
@@Da-iken Anime is longer though, so if you're intimidated by the size then it's easier to go for the manga, since it takes a lot less time to go through.
@@Da-iken sorry but nah I recommend just read it Toei's pacing is Ass :/ like 4 panels for like 5min scene bascially just watch some scenes that are key moments at this point or if ur curios how it was in the anime
Wasn’t around for your anime days. But I’m here all for it. Grew up on dragon ball and now love One Piece. Thanks for the content! Also, was SnakeMan included in this full video? It’s another gear 4 form
Only thing is they didn't do Gear 3 or Gear 4 enough justice. Gear 3 had some good shots with the fight against "Oars. Gear 4 actually has 3 different variations to it in which Luffy uses and utilizes uniquely depending on his opponent. Other than that, great video!
5:32 You're absolutely right, Luffy's powers are all about being a Loony Tunes character. Even more so as the series progresses. One Piece is a wacky world, but where serious things still happen. Luffy as a character is wacky even by the standards of the world he lives in. Whereas Dragon Ball is an action series with lots of comedy moments, One Piece is more of a comedy series with lots of action moments. As for flight, very few characters can fly normally. There are some powers or techniquest that let other people approximate flight. For example, Doflamingo has string powers, which among other things let him be like Spider-Man on steroids. Not only can he swing from buildings, he can also swing from clouds. What looked like a ki blast was a bunch of superheated strings. (That's one of the things about One Piece, characters can have powers that seem like they'd be a joke but are actually really strong. The superheated strings are also based on a bilingual pun. The attack is called "Overheat", which is pronounced "obahito" in Japanese. And "ito" is Japanese for "string".) And there are also techniques for walking on air by kicking the air at super speed. Not actual flight, but it's close. As for Gear 5, the stuff about Joyboy has been hinted at for literally years, long before anybody had even an inkling of Gear 5. And its exact limits have yet to be fully explained. It's not necessarily the strongest power in the world (though it's got to be high up there among the strongest), but it's the most *ridiculous* power because it doesn't seem to be based on any kind of logic. The fight against Kaido (the guy who transforms into a Shenron-looking dragon) in particular was always about the super-serious villain fighting the super-silly hero, because One Piece is all about being silly and serious at the same time.
I will admit, Gear 5 will be better shown off in the upcoming episode this week since One Piece only adapts a single chapter for each episode which means the pacing just sucks. It’ll be even cooler this weekend.
Gear 1st: Base form Luffy. Gear 2nd: Luffy increases the blood flow throughout his body to speed himself up; using his elasticity with his organs. Gear 3rd: Luffy inflates his bones to increase the power and size of his attacks, similar to a Giant; applies his elasticity to his bones Gear 4th: Combines his Armament Haki (a type of innate force of nature used as armor or upgrade to a weapon) and his elastic nature to his muscles to increase his overall defense speed, and power. Think of it as a combination of Gear 2nd and 3rd and then amplified by Haki. Gear 5th: The awakened formed of Luffy's Gum-Gum Fruit, which is revealed to be the Human-Human Fruit; Model Nika. Luffy becomes the embodiment of the Sun God, Nika, who's overall ability is being able to do whatever the user wants, and is only limited by their imagination. Because Luffy thinks he is a rubber man, he is allowed to pull off the rubbery and elastic nature of cartoons in his previous forms, but now literally. However, he is only limited by imagination, thus if he BELIEVES to have a weakness, the weakness is made true, that being cutting or bladed attacks
8:01 "is it a transformation tho?" No, luffy's gears are techniques he developed to enhance his physical capabilities in battle by applying his rubber powers in various ways. And gear 5 is luffy's real zoan transformation Edit: also gear 5 is cartonish because gear 5's power is like that because luffy's gear 5 have the power to do anything he imagines
No it is a transformation your obviously someone who never watched the show or read the manga and just watched the g5 episode out of questioning interest so you have very little intelligence when it comes to explaining this. Each of his gears are transformations with g5 being the biggest he’s literally capable of doing things he otherwise couldn’t do before which makes it a transformation that’s what makes them all transformations he became joyboy when his devil fruit awakened
One Piece is one of the greatest manga/anime, because of its story and world building. Its a long story but its worth it. And I can understand its not easy to get in with 1000 episodes . So im just happy your reacting to Gear 5 with all the fans around the world !
Amazing video! Just sad you didn't see the other two forms of Gear 4th. There are actually two more distinct forms of it. One of them was kinda just used as a meme, after Luffy ate a bunch of Cookies and just got super fat - but the other one was legit, called "Snake Man" against Luffy's last "big fight" before the current one.
One piece with the lore ?? The lore of one piece is actually what puts it in the top history fictions. I am a one piece fan but for me, Gohan Ssj2 vs Cell with the tears flying up is by far the best transformation in anime ive even seen ( of course only in japanese voice )
Luffy's transformation are very realistic if you are a rubber person: Gear 2 - Pumping blood, kinda like doping. Makes him faster. Gear 3 - Pumping air into his bones. Makes him stronger but slower. Gear 4 - Pumping air into his muscle + coating his body with Haki. Able to control his body more unlike Gear 3 and without losing Gear 2's speed. Gear 5 - Drums of liberation plays in Luffy's heart bringing joy to himself and everything around him and is the Devil Fruit's awakening. Can turn anything to rubber and can control his rubber body without effort.
I know you probably won't have the time, but if you ever want to experience One Piece, pleaaaase read the manga, it's so worth it, you can go through several chapters in just an hour, and it's the definitive way to experience it. It's hard to understand the sheer impact of Gear 5 without experiencing the story. edit: wtf is a gear 1st
omg the throwback!!! As one of the OG subs who originally joined for the anime content way back when it's so good to see that you still love it!! One Piece is my favorite anime and Gear Fifth has been hyped up for so long since it came out in the manga a year ago. When that episode dropped Crunchyroll broke down from all the ppl trying to watch it cuz of the hype! I heard the author Oda-sensei had Warner Bros help animate it with the cartoon like effects that he drew in the manga. It's a great time to be a One Piece fan rn 🙌 I would love to see you do more anime stuff every now and then as a throwback like this.
Maybe watch One Pace! It’s an edited version of One Piece with all the useless filler cut out! Also not asking you to react on the channel, just would like you to watch the story of one piece because it’s fantastic and I think you’d love it.
So, to give some... clarification/information. Gear 1 is indeed "base luffy" - Technically speaking, this should've actually been the scene he ate his devil fruit as a kid and he started stretching. Gear 2 is essentially Luffy's version of SSJ - His speed and power increase drastically. Initially he can't maintain it for super long and it kind of exhausts him to use it, eventually it basically just becomes his normal combat state. How it works is that he's using the fact his body is made out of rubber to forcibly speed up his blood flow in order to become stronger/faster. That's the animation of his arm/leg (he's used both) sort of having that "fluid lump" moving through it. Gear 3 is essentially Luffy just... ballooning part of his body to be bigger. I can definitely say it's Luffy's least logical one, but it's neat. Gear 4 is Luffy's essentially "Haki form" - Haki is a power that's introduced properly around episode 400, but was technically introduced in Skypiea as Mantra. There are 3 types of Haki, being Armamement, which is basically "spiritual strength" (a concept that should be familiar to a DB fan), allowing you to basically empower part of your body with your spirit to make it significantly stronger. Observation, which is the ability to detect and react to others' presence - This is VERY similar to Ultra Instinct in all honesty. But done WAY earlier on, as again, Skypiea definitely had notable users of observation Haki. Both Armament and Observation are usable by anyone, provided they learn how to use it. You then have the 3rd, Conqueror's Haki. Which only "1 in a million" people have, or "the will to be a king" - Conqueror's Haki has several known uses, #1 being the ability to knock out those that can't withstand it, and #2 being the ability to essentially enhance other forms of Haki. Luffy's Gear 4 is basically him infusing parts of his body with Armament AND Conqueror's Haki in order to essentially control them via pressure/force application to compress and decompress parts of his body rapidly to far greater extents than he could without it. Essentially, picture how a muscle works, and then apply that to the entire red part of Luffy's body in gear 4, but thousands of times per second. Gear 5... Gear 5 is something that non-one piece fans straight up won't truly understand. It has a LOT to do with lore, character development, etc. So to summarize. Luffy ate a devil fruit when he was a kid. He lived his entire life believing this was the standard Gum Gum fruit, which turned him into a Rubber Man. In Wano, it is revealed that it wasn't the Gum Gum Fruit, but rather, the Nika Nika fruit. At this same time, Luffy manages to Awaken his devil fruit, which is a process only revealed near the end of the Dressrosa arc... over 700 episodes into the anime. An Awakened devil fruit is basically able to affect not only the user, but the world around them. The first truly awakened devil fruit shown is Doflamingo's string string fruit. Where he becomes able to turn anything into living, controllable string, attacking Luffy with the very ground around him. Gear 5 is Luffy's Nika Nika fruit's awakening. It is... freedom incarnate. You see, Luffy essentially has one of, if not THE, strongest devil fruits in the world. And it's true abilities are literally able to alter reality itself to an extent. Luffy as a character embodies the concept of true freedom. His goal is to become "king of the pirates", which for him, is "the free-est man in the world." Every action he has ever taken, has been representative of this. He doesn't bow to anyone because he's free to do what he wants. He is... free. And Gear 5... is him finally, truly, becoming "free", even from the very constraints of the world. As Luffy himself says... "I can finally fight how I want to fight." Luffy's Gear 5 is simply the embodiment of his character. The embodiment of true freedom. Is it overpowered? Yes. Is it meant to be overpowered? No. It is simply meant to be the ultimate representation of Luffy's character. The free-est man in the world, so free that even the constraints of reality and the expectations of the world no longer apply to him. So he's just going to become tom and jerry and bounce around laughing his head off.
It’s a real shame you decided to essentially spoil yourself. If you ask someone their favorite anime fight, it’s hardly ever one from one piece. That doesn’t make their fights not exciting though, what makes them good fights is how Oda really makes you feel the contrast in ideals. Late in the arc when Gear 2 is revealed, luffy and the strawhats are getting cooked by the world government. They are standing in the way of the strawhats freedom, and show no remorse for anyone who won’t bend to their will. They are polar opposites, and only when you can get that sense of the story, do one piece fights truly begin to hit different. I genuinely hope you will check the series out, it’s one of my all time favorites.
I've been waiting for a long time to get into One Piece. I read the first volume life 5 years ago when my friend let me borrow it and liked it a bit. This video finally convinced me to watch it! It was SO nostalgic seeing your old intro again, I remember watching your Dragon Ball and My hero academia videos!
It's ridiculous to compare the transformations of Shonnen's characters. The most important thing in these different transformations is not the power but the stories behind each transformation. Whenever Naruto, Goku or Luffy transformed there was a personal reason. Their stories are different, their universes are different so the codes of these universes are different. I enjoyed each of them because they made me feel different emotions. We are lucky to have so many different characters and stories so we might as well make the most of them. We can have preferences, of course, but to make the "war" to know who is the most powerful, it is ridiculous and childish.
I Understand that many people don't want to start to watch One Piece...cause too many episodes (1072) but I'm sure people won't regret once they start watch.
The thing that makes Gear 5 so powerful is that it doesn't just affect Luffy, everything Luffy touches while using that power will behave like rubber and like a cartoon
Hello there!! One Piece fan here!! Here to answer any doubts with pleasure!! (Also, there will be spoilers for all the gears and a few things from episodes 200 and foward. If you are interested in the series and don't know about some of them, don't read) Nope, flying is not cannon in OP, but you can achieve something similar in several ways. By kicking the air hard enough, by propulsion with a powerful cannon, creating clouds to hold yourself in the air, etc. The flamingo guy(That, yes, he's called Doflamingo. Who could have guessed xd) was using strings to keep himself in the air. Luffy in the other hand was like kicking the air/propulsing himself with his feet in a similar way to what he was doing with his arm and head. For a quick explanation of each gear: -Gear 1:Yep, you guessed correctly, it's his standard form -Gear 2:Around episode 250. He uses the fact that even his circulatory system is rubber to pump his blood faster through his body and be faster(That's the weird thing he did with his legs, and why he was red and steaming) -Gear 3:Around episode 250. He blows air into his bones to have "the strenght of a giant".There is not much to explain with this -Gear 4:Around episode 705. He combines his devil fruit with a new power added to the power system called " haki"(The black/red thing). He blows air into his muscles and gives it shape by covering himself with haki. It's long to explain why, but with this he is faster, stronger, "can fly" and can redirect his punches -Gear 5(SPOILERS):Episode 1071. Literal looney toones power. In the next episode, he is going to use the dragon as a jump rope. So the sounds and aesthetic were fully intentional XD. This is the awakening of his devil fruit, which fans had been theorizing for years. There was foreshadowing for this thing since episode, like, 150. Amazing Also, the fear and hate we had for all of the oponents in this fights was incredibly big. The ones for gear 2 and 3 had humilliated the straw hats before and were now triggering the PTSD of a crewmate to get her to comply in her arrest. The one for gear 4 was mad crazy but also *horribly smart, succesful and powerful* and had OBLITERATED a fan favourite character with an overpowered hability. And the one for gear 5 had enslaved a whole country, leaving them no food, water and barely resources, and had almost killed Luffy two times and successfully killed him the third time(And that is when he awakens gear 5)
Regular Luffy is Gear 1. In Gear 2, he pumps his blood to make it flow faster, this makes him move faster and hit stronger, before he had problems keeping the form and used to take a lot of energy, but with training during a time skip, he solved the energy problem. He can combine his Gear 2 with haki (The blackness that suddenly appears, most characters can do it.) to make his hits even stronger. All his attacks in Second Gear gain the word "jet", indicating how fast he can move, when he adds the haki, he changes jet for hawk. Gear 3 is Luffy literally inflating his bones to make his hits the size of a giant. Before he had problems with the recoil of the transformation, after releasing the air in his bones, he shrinks down the same time he kept the air in his bones. With the time skip training he solved that problem and with haki he can make his hits harder as well. Gear 4 is almost the same as Gear 3, just that instead of bones, he inflates his muscles, that's makes him bounce endlessly, but because he needs an insane ammount of haki, he can only keep the form for some time, then he gets so tired that he is almost inmovile. With some training before the Gear 5, he could somehow solve that problem. Gear 4 has 3 forms in total. The bounce man, the original form, is pure strength and defense. Tank man, improvised because Luffy ate until his stretching limit and used the Gear 4, is purely defensive. Snake man, this form is focused more on speed, even after he launches a hit, it keeps accelerating endlessly, even getting to the point of overcoming future sighting (Yes, that's a thing, and only a certain few trained enough to do that just some second into the future.). Gear 5 is Luffy's awakening of his fruit. Here is revealed that his fruit was named the gomu-gomu to hide its real power from the world, Luffy's fruit real name is the human-human fruit, of zoan type, a mitological one as well, of model Sun God Nika. To explain this I reccomend you investigate because there's an absurd ammount of lore that I don't know if I get right yet. As part of his new powers, he can make rubbery other things besides his body.
I know you were saying you don't want to watch over 1000 episodes of One Piece, and I don't think that the anime does a good job AT ALL with pacing. I was recently made aware of a series of edits called "One Pace" which remove a lot of the useless Toei filler that they put in One Piece episodes. If anyone's interested in getting into One Piece, and want to watch the anime specifically, I'd recommend checking One Pace out. I will say that the manga remains (In mine and many other One Piece fans' opinions) the best way to consume the series.
luffy ate a fruit which he awakened and came to know contained the soul of a god named nika who was sun god also known as joyboy. Joyboy was an ancient god who was warrior of liberation and made people smile so upon luffy awakening fruit the will of joyboy got on luffy and that's why he is behaving so looney toney'ish as joyboy "MADE PEOPLE LAUGH AND SMILE".
i can't believe you posted a video about anime, been watching for about 5 years now and this is such a treat to see, I don't think its possible for someone who hasn't watched much one piece to fully grasp how impactful this is for the show at all, i don't think it will surpass super Saiyan but it for sure will be runner up as the 2nd most iconic transformation in anime
I would reccomend reading One Piece, not neccersarily for the channel, but because it's a far more approachable (and honestly far more consistently good with no filler) than watching 1000 episodes of a show.
To explain gear 5th, luffy can essentially do anything he puts his mind to and essentially had toon force power that doesn’t just effect him but everything around him, that’s why the enemy he was fighting had his eyes popping out and the sound effects
This just made me so happy seeing you react to One Piece ❤ I've been watching the anime since 2005!! I think you'd love watching the anime bro! Im 38 and I'm still emotionally attached to the crew like a giddy kid! 😂
the nostalgia i got from the intro... OG OG DBG era felt nice. but doesnt mean your current content bombs as good! remember the time you even reacted to DBZA! stay awesome Deebeegeek
Remember why the very first Super Saiyan was so iconic? It's because of what happened before. The built up, the struggle and in the end the death of a best friend as a trigger. All of this, combined with the fact that SS Goku didn't simply overpower Freezer, but was able to fight him as an equal made it so special. In One Piece it's a similar thing. What's so special about this is the extreme forshadowing, teasing and basically a conclusion to a question deeply embedded into the (background)story. The concepts of Haki and Devil Fruit Awakening, the way Luffy has come, the enemies he had to fight, the struggles he overcame and what he learned on his journy and through his fights. Especially this one hits hard since he was already beaten by this enemy before and had an intense training session, honing his skills, even reaching higher levels during his second fight and still got beaten to the point, that everyone thought he was actually dead. And then this happens. Gear 5, Luffys awakening, the conclusion of Joyboys identity....you just have to have experienced the One Piece journey to truly understand the value of this transformation. But the built up to Super Saiyan gives you a pretty good idea about what this means for fans.
Great video my dude and you got yourself a sub. Just found this randomly on my feed and to answer your question my favorite gear is 5 for many theme reasons in One Piece but I will always have a all time spot for gear 2. My favorite anime is technically Gintama with One Piece being a very close second.
There's no "gear 1" it's just his base form. Gear 2 - he uses his rubber body to pump his blood faster to make him stronger and faster. Gear 3 - blowing air in his body to make himself bigger. Gear 4 - basically gear 2 and 3 combined + haki. Also the video didn't mention the different types of gear 4's, it only showed the most "basic" one called bounce man which is mostly used for raw power. There's also snake man for speed and his punches become basically unpredictable and tank man (i think) which is more focused on defence. Gear 5 - Luffy's devil fruit awakening, makes him basically be able to do anything he wants (toon force), also he's joyboy now (a savior of the people and the enemy of the world government from the void century 800 years ago). Also has the ability to make the environment around him have rubber characteristics thanks to his awakening. Mega hardcore One Piece fans please be nice to me, my memory isn't the best and english isn't my first language so it's hard to explain sometimes 😅.
9:50 basically, in gear 4 he can ''load'' his body parts into his body and shoot them out for extra power instead of just stretching them back and forth, he does that with his legs really fast repeatedly in order to bounce off the air and basically fly Also, technically no, flying isn't canon in one piece, doflamingo, the flamboyant one, can hold himself in the air with his string powers and luffy can do the bouncy thing I explained, however, there are characters that know this technique called Geppo, which is essentially bouncing off of the air with extreme speed, kind of like luffy. There is also a character that turns into a dragon that can fly
The best part of Gear 4th's first showing in the anime is that, right after Luffy kicked his sandals off, the animators drew him with his sandals on in the very next full-body shot of him, hahaa.
I hope you guys enjoyed the throwback intro!
God I miss your anime reactions
I'm glad your intro changed though. ^^
But the transformation of Luffy's gear 5 is Realy something special.
The Lore behind it...
Gear 5 is peak bad writing.
This unfortunately. We'll see what he thinks of these forms though, making this comment before video properly starts.
Well he wont love it any more. He was just spoiled
@@iforgot4837I was gonna say the same thing. As someone who jumped into the manga to avoid spoilers like G5, you would think seeing it animated even with or without context would be pretty hype. If he loved it without the context, he'd especially love it once given the context.
The Loooore 😊
14:09 the looney tunes sounds effects are very much intentional and its ridiculous. Gear 5 is all about Luffy's imagination and with Luffy, he's already a goofy and fun character and give him the ability to literally do ANYTHING, you get fun fight scenes that take very heavy inspo from old show cartoons (the eyes popping out, the bump in the head with the dizzy animation, the running still in the air.)
Fun Fact: For Gear 5, animators all over the world joined in to animate this and the upcoming gear 5 episodes
i was underwhelmed when the cartoonish fight started but now my heart is swelling whenever i see it. its the perfect gear for luffy, there is nothing more fitting than a cartoonish fighting style. after rewatching a lot of arcs, i felt like this was set up from the beginning. nika is just luffys personality, nothing more and nothing less and i absolutely love him like this. his gear 5 laugh makes me want to cry in a corner
@@MyvIsLove2UNDERwhelmed?!
To sum up the power of each gear
[4:50] Base Luffy
[5:38 ] Gear 2nd - Luffy speeds up the flow of his blood, which makes him faster and stronger by circulating more oxygen and nutrients through his body.
Once again the clip shown was it's first on screen use, after the time skip Luffy is able to better control where the air is located, he primarily only inflates his fist and wrist, this did have a negative side-effect of shrinking Luffy after the deactivation of the gear but this side effect was removed as Luffy has better control of the technique
[8:07 ] Gear 4th - In this Gear Luffy has three known transformations, though all excoriate Armament ¹Haki and the general powers of the Gum Gum Fruit. To activate this Gear Luffy coats his arm in Armament Haki and and blows a massive quantity of air into it, by doing this he inflates all of his muscles and then the rest into his body. This Gear extremally increases Luff's strength and speed several fold, though as a downside he can only stay in this form for 20 mins and once deactivated he will be unable to use Haki for 10 minutes
* [8:07] Boundman - This form makes use of Luffy's rubber body by allowing him to retract his arms and legs inside of his body to increase the power of his attacks, in this form Luffy can even fly by retracting and shooting his legs out in quick burts, while in Boundman form most attacks will simply bounce off of Luff's body since even though it is hardened by the Armament Haki it is still rubbery. The downside of this form are that Luffy can't stay still and when not moving simply bobs up and down in place and he can't control his landing due to his bodies warped proportions
* Tankman - The base form of Tankman is unknown since we have only seen it's Stuffed Version, this form greatly increase Luffy's durability since he is able to tank and deflect piercing strikes from an enemy that was able to cut him while he was in Boundman form, while in tankman most of the air seems to go to his torso
*Snakeman - In this form Luffy only slightly enlarges his forearms, legs, and upper torso with the rest of his body staying with his normal proportions, the spread of Haki is also limited to his arms and legs. This form boosts Luff's speed, and allows him to use "Phyton" which allows him to change the direction of his attacks and while Boundman can also use Phyton in Snakeman form the attacks continuously accelerate the longer they last while increasing the attack's power and speed until the attack hits, this form also uses another form of Haki known as Observation Haki to make his punches into semi-homing attacks
[11:13] Gear 5th - The awakened form of Luffy's devil fruit, in this form Luffy's body receives a massive increase in strength, speed, and durability, Luffy's heartbeat also takes on a musical rhythm known as "The Drums of Liberation", this form also has a faster passive recovery rate that works even if Luffy is unconscious. Luffy is also able to use the limb inflation of gear 3 and the muscle inflation of Gear 4 while in this form with out the need to pump air into his body like he did previously, he can also effect his surroundings (as seen in the video) as well as other people around him. It has been stated that the power of this form is only limited by the users imagination
¹ Haki - A mysterious power all living things are capable of using, though many don't notice it or fail to awaken it, there are three types Armament, Observation, and Conqueror's Haki, most people will focus on training the Haki their best at, though you can improve with all types with more work.
*Armament Haki is used as armor to defend against attacks and as a way to boost the power of attacks
*Observation Haki is used as a sixth sense allowing people to sense the presence, strength, and emotions of other people, as well as limited precognition *Conqueror's Haki can only be awakened by a select few (1 in several million), it allows one to unleash their willpower to overpower the will of others, usually knocking out weaker willed opponents it can also effect the surrounding area by damaging objects
Very in depth and accurate. Good on you for going through the trouble of posting that.
Actually in gear 4 luffy blows up his muscles
@@PIXSIC1234 Woops, my mistake, I guess I got them mixed up
Up
Gear 2nd's negative effect is it shortens Luffy's lifespan since he's forcibly pushing his body beyond its limits.
About the flying being Canon in One Piece, there's a technique where if you run hard and fast enough, you're literally able to step on the air, allowing you to basically fly.
specifically if you kick the air like 7 times in a row very fast you literally push yourself higher in the air, god i love one piece

*most* characters can't fly in One Piece, it's all fruit dependent, but there are ways to "walk" on air with a technique. Also, the ki blasts you saw when he went Gear 4 was his arm bouncing in different directions, but you may have noticed that before this was posted

So good to see you reacting to it tho!
As powerful as a fruit user gets.. it will always be a localized area... So he he built a limit right into the mechanics
And it's not just the gear transformations... the haki moments as well, especially the conqueror's haki..
But now Gear 5 is untouchable, the tension is killed from the franchise.

You understanding that Gear 5 being goofy because luffy is a goofy character is impressive cause even some One Piece fans don’t understand that

Spoilers?
@@optimistprime2751 How?
One piece context:
There exist a technique every character can use called Haki. It a manifestation of a person's will giving them physical reinforcement, 360 perception, and can touch another person's Haki (meaning turning into fire or smoke doesn't stop them from punching you) and appears black for us to see
Gear 4th. Mixed with Haki uses his Rubber Body to make Pistons out of his limbs
Each devil fruit has an Awakening. DonFlamingo has the string fruit, allowing him to make strings (hence why he can fly) but once awakened he could turn objects into strings. Allowing him to twist buildings by just being near them
Luffy's awakening is very similar.
Calling Do FLAMingo FLAMboyant was actually pretty on character XD

Me: you have know idea how right you are
That intro brings back memories 😂
Shame you gave up on both. it cuts all the "dead air" with the stare downs and endless paneling that the anime uses to try to pace 1 chap per 1 episode.
one pace also edits the audio and music so it still feels fluent.
"Luffy is literally a Loonytoons character" *Laughs in DRUMS OF LIBERATION*
It's great that you're interested in One Piece, Dee! Just give it a read (or a watch) yourself, and you'll see what all the hype is all about.
Personally, I recommend the manga version, and then rewatch all the key scenes, especially the big fight scenes, in anime. One Piece is fortunate enough to get a lot of its fight scenes adapted beautifully. Even then, the overall animation just keep improving the more seasons it's going into.
Also, if these clips can get you hyped and excited. Imagine how it would be like for the die hard fans that have been following the series for close to 30 years.
Lastly, you should also check out some original crossover animation where Goku meets Luffy (and also Toriko).
big emotional beats should also be watched, the OST and voicework also slaps.
Nah, i recommend the Anime, specially if you begin. Because you can enjoy so much scenes more epic with music and so on.
oooooh "DORIME 9 CHO CALLABU SPECIAL" fucking love that crossover ssj3, gear 3 and whatever Toriko used was such a good shot if they remake it with Toriko´s infinite nail punch form, gear 5 and mui woof
@@Da-iken Anime is longer though, so if you're intimidated by the size then it's easier to go for the manga, since it takes a lot less time to go through.
@@Da-iken sorry but nah
I recommend just read it
Toei's pacing is Ass :/
like 4 panels for like 5min scene bascially
just watch some scenes that are key moments at this point
or if ur curios how it was in the anime
The looney tunes sound effects have been in the show since Episode 1 of One Piece. Toei just brought it all together with Gear 5th how Oda intended.
Wasn’t around for your anime days. But I’m here all for it. Grew up on dragon ball and now love One Piece. Thanks for the content!
Also, was SnakeMan included in this full video? It’s another gear 4 form
Best explanation of gear 5 I ever heard: "Gear 5 is a perfect example of how Tom and Jerry would kick superman's ass"
where were snakeman and tankman ?
Those where just a version of gear 4, bounceman was the first
Yes, canonically Luffy WAS dead in that moment. Then his heart restarted to the beat of the drums of liberation.
Gear 3rd: Luffy inflates his bones to increase the power and size of his attacks, similar to a Giant; applies his elasticity to his bones
Gear 4th: Combines his Armament Haki (a type of innate force of nature used as armor or upgrade to a weapon) and his elastic nature to his muscles to increase his overall defense speed, and power.
8:01 "is it a transformation tho?"
No, luffy's gears are techniques he developed to enhance his physical capabilities in battle by applying his rubber powers in various ways.
And gear 5 is luffy's real zoan transformation
Edit: also gear 5 is cartonish because gear 5's power is like that because luffy's gear 5 have the power to do anything he imagines
No it is a transformation your obviously someone who never watched the show or read the manga and just watched the g5 episode out of questioning interest so you have very little intelligence when it comes to explaining this. Each of his gears are transformations with g5 being the biggest he’s literally capable of doing things he otherwise couldn’t do before which makes it a transformation that’s what makes them all transformations he became joyboy when his devil fruit awakened
damn they skipped Tankman and Snakeman...though i guess technically they're still Gear 4
One Piece is one of the greatest manga/anime, because of its story and world building. Its a long story but its worth it. And I can understand its not easy to get in with 1000 episodes . So im just happy your reacting to Gear 5 with all the fans around the world !
I'm glad this compilation showed the goofiness of the show. The silliness in this show is one of the strongest points to me.
"this fight is done!" oh you sweet summer child....you're 100 episodes too young to declare the end of the fight
One piece with the lore ?? The lore of one piece is actually what puts it in the top history fictions. I am a one piece fan but for me, Gohan Ssj2 vs Cell with the tears flying up is by far the best transformation in anime ive even seen ( of course only in japanese voice )
Dragon ball abridged is better lmao
@@tjpera01 16’s “backstory” in DBZ Abridged wrecks me. That was GENIUS on Team Four Star’s part. 😭💔
Is no one gonna talk about the fact that they forgot the other 2 forms of gear 4!?
How to ruin amazing moments
Luffy's transformation are very realistic if you are a rubber person:
Gear 2 - Pumping blood, kinda like doping.
As a rubber person, i agree it is very realistic
Also not asking you to react on the channel, just would like you to watch the story of one piece because it’s fantastic and I think you’d love it.
and for the earlier parts where one-pace is not complete there's one piece kai in a google drive folder somewhere
It’s been so long since I’ve seen your videos Dee that intro was an insane throwback! 😂 Hope you’ve been doing fantastic miss your anime reactions bro
Of course one piece isn't for everyone but i do think its worth the watch
It's nice to see you reacting to anime again. I was brought to your channel way back because of your enjoyable anime reaction
Toei actually got people from Warner Bros. to help animate gear 5.
Is there a source for that?
It started out as rumor
Just got up to the episodes last weekend
His goal is to become "king of the pirates", which for him, is "the free-est man in the world."
Every action he has ever taken, has been representative of this.
He doesn't bow to anyone because he's free to do what he wants.
He is... free.
And Gear 5... is him finally, truly, becoming "free", even from the very constraints of the world.
As Luffy himself says... "I can finally fight how I want to fight."
Luffy's Gear 5 is simply the embodiment of his character.
I genuinely hope you will check the series out, it’s one of my all time favorites.
yeah watching this without context? gotta dislike it
thank god I checked the comments first. I ain't gonna watch it.
Was cool to see you react to this.
I've been following the manga since the mid 2000s and it's currently my favorite on-going series.
I Understand that many people don't want to start to watch One Piece...cause too many episodes (1072) but I'm sure people won't regret once they start watch.
Dragon ball is mid
Dragon ball story is mid but the fights are good 😅
I wasn't expecting this 😂 OP is one of my favourite titles of all time, appreciate that you did this! That... and the classic intro 🤣
Man I can't believe I found you so far back holy shit. That ui video threw me back in time
The thing that makes Gear 5 so powerful is that it doesn't just affect Luffy, everything Luffy touches while using that power will behave like rubber and like a cartoon
Hello there!! One Piece fan here!! Here to answer any doubts with pleasure!!
(Also, there will be spoilers for all the gears and a few things from episodes 200 and foward. If you are interested in the series and don't know about some of them, don't read)
Nope, flying is not cannon in OP, but you can achieve something similar in several ways.
For a quick explanation of each gear:
-Gear 1:Yep, you guessed correctly, it's his standard form
-Gear 2:Around episode 250. He uses the fact that even his circulatory system is rubber to pump his blood faster through his body and be faster(That's the weird thing he did with his legs, and why he was red and steaming)
-Gear 3:Around episode 250. He blows air into his bones to have "the strenght of a giant".There is not much to explain with this
-Gear 4:Around episode 705. He combines his devil fruit with a new power added to the power system called " haki"(The black/red thing). He blows air into his muscles and gives it shape by covering himself with haki. It's long to explain why, but with this he is faster, stronger, "can fly" and can redirect his punches
-Gear 5(SPOILERS):Episode 1071. Literal looney toones power. In the next episode, he is going to use the dragon as a jump rope. So the sounds and aesthetic were fully intentional XD. This is the awakening of his devil fruit, which fans had been theorizing for years. There was foreshadowing for this thing since episode, like, 150. Amazing
Also, the fear and hate we had for all of the oponents in this fights was incredibly big.
It’s cool seeing you outside of video games sometimes. I’m a huge DBZ and One Piece Fan.
I literally died when he made the unintentional jokes about the characters. Especially when he said second gear was him turning into a steam box.😂
You can actually get caught up on one piece in 4 months with watching a movies worth of time every day
Or the One Pace fan-edit
Something you forgot to mention is that when adding haki to Third Gear, he replaces giant with other animal names, like elephant or grizzly.
@@solaris9426 same goes for gear 4.
you missed the PEAK GEAR 4:SNAKEMAN
I know you were saying you don't want to watch over 1000 episodes of One Piece, and I don't think that the anime does a good job AT ALL with pacing. I was recently made aware of a series of edits called "One Pace" which remove a lot of the useless Toei filler that they put in One Piece episodes. If anyone's interested in getting into One Piece, and want to watch the anime specifically, I'd recommend checking One Pace out. I will say that the manga remains (In mine and many other One Piece fans' opinions) the best way to consume the series.
I am sad they didn't show you snakeman it's the other form to gear four which basically works like a predator missile
luffy ate a fruit which he awakened and came to know contained the soul of a god named nika who was sun god also known as joyboy.
As if I've just been watching all your zelda playthroughs and I've found you reacting to one piece now?! Amazing 😅
Never understood when someone claims only one anime as their favorite. Like how can anyone be so obtuse
Damn, Mark just forever getting Dee to watch my favorite shows and play my favorite games
Hey I loved watching you back then and loved watching you reacting to one piece and getting the hype
Gear 5 is the best ever thing for a character like Luffy.
Luffy has been built up like a looney toons character, so Gear 5 is very fitting for luffy.
I would reccomend reading One Piece, not neccersarily for the channel, but because it's a far more approachable (and honestly far more consistently good with no filler) than watching 1000 episodes of a show.
Not so Fun fact
The only actual form Luffy has are: Nightmare Luffy and Gear 5th
The others are just him doing something to his internal organs
To explain gear 5th, luffy can essentially do anything he puts his mind to and essentially had toon force power that doesn’t just effect him but everything around him, that’s why the enemy he was fighting had his eyes popping out and the sound effects
This just made me so happy seeing you react to One Piece ❤ I've been watching the anime since 2005!! I think you'd love watching the anime bro! Im 38 and I'm still emotionally attached to the crew like a giddy kid! 😂
GEAR 5 SURPASSED ULTRA INSCINT HYPE BRO
the nostalgia i got from the intro... OG OG DBG era felt nice. but doesnt mean your current content bombs as good! remember the time you even reacted to DBZA! stay awesome Deebeegeek
YOOOOO havent seen you do that intro in a while 😭😭
Deebee getting hyped for One Piece is a sign, that the anime has reached its peak of notoriety.
9:50 basically, in gear 4 he can ''load'' his body parts into his body and shoot them out for extra power instead of just stretching them back and forth, he does that with his legs really fast repeatedly in order to bounce off the air and basically fly
Also, technically no, flying isn't canon in one piece, doflamingo, the flamboyant one, can hold himself in the air with his string powers and luffy can do the bouncy thing I explained, however, there are characters that know this technique called Geppo, which is essentially bouncing off of the air with extreme speed, kind of like luffy. There is also a character that turns into a dragon that can fly
The best part of Gear 4th's first showing in the anime is that, right after Luffy kicked his sandals off, the animators drew him with his sandals on in the very next full-body shot of him, hahaa.
