I’m watching this video several years after it came out, but i have to say it has been the most informative for a DIY’er that I have seen while researching my own project.
I have an existing in-ground sprinkler system that is all FUBAR; it does not have head-to-head coverage, and it doesn’t even cover the whole yard. Plus it has all the valves crammed into a little valve box, to the point i scrape my knuckles every time i have to do maintenance on a diaphragm.
My plan was to add a zone (rent a trencher to do it), redo the existing zones correctly, and change the underground valves to above ground ASV. Your series covered a lot of what I was wondering about and I just wanted to say I appreciate that you documented it all.

Thanks for leaving a comment. I was just starting off on UA-cam when I did this video series so I don’t think the algorithm pushed these at all. It’s unfortunate because I thought they turned out well.
Thanks for your confirmation of their worth. I know at the time, I couldn’t find any decent videos on an entire system.

Great video! I just started my irrigation system. I just used the same trencher and it was a workout! But worth it.

After a few years you completely forget about the trenching 😆. I’m still loving my system, it’s been dry this year but it’s keeping things green.
      Thanks for checking in 👍

11:23 LOL... Great work! Well done on your irrigation system. I just did 120' in wet clay with this unit and won't ever do that again.

Thanks for checking in…I think my shoulders are still sore from this work but I’m still loving the irrigation system.
I wonder how many others have been foolish enough to use this machine for such a big job? We might be in a pretty elite club.

I'm renting one of those this Tuesday. I have to trench about 225 feet for the main water main to my house. How long do you think it will take? Looks like you had a full day with your yard. Looks good.

I didn't measure all of the trenches but I laid down about 1500' of piping, so the trenching was a bit less than that (double up pipes in some trenches). It took me 9-10 hours to complete.
I would think you would be done in 2 hours, depending on soil type. Have fun!!!

@@TheLawnEngineer it took about 2 hours. Fortunately, it was all downhill. That sure helped.

I used the same trencher and it was a workout. You are also pulling it not pushing. It's not too bad but I was sore the next day. BUT it is so much easier than trying to dig by hand.
