  • Cooking on my restored LODGE for the very first time with an EGG OMELET! How did it perform? Did anything stick? Today, I decided to give it a try for the first time with a 3 egg omelet and frying up a batch of pork sausage links as well. I was hungry and felt inspired to make a video using this pan for the first time! Grab a favorite beverage or snack and watch as I cook the omelet and make myself a low carb high fat breakfast! I have plenty of tips as well for healthy low carb cooking and quick cleaning when using a pan more than once for the same meal! Please like, comment, and subscribe & thanks for watching! 😊

Thank you so much! Yes, I have lost more than I thought was possible at my age. This protocol involves laying off processed foods, sugar, and other unhealthy foods. The breakfast I ate was very good and totally on plan. The secret is the extra fat helps to keep me full for long periods of time, so I don't eat nearly as much as I used to. My body burns fat for fuel, no longer burning glucose (sugar). I can easily go 16-20 hours at a time without the need to eat while being productive the whole time. Anyway, I may share more about that at some future point, but haven't reached my goal yet and I still have lots to learn! And yes, I am very pleased with how my Lodge has performed. I am lucky to have picked it up for so cheap! lol

Thanks so much Brian! I just wish more people would watch when I do cooking videos! They never get that many views - I have no idea why. Maybe because I never show my face due to the origins of my channel (prepping, etc.) as I was trying to stay safe online! I guess if I showed my face and had a traditional cooking channel maybe they would - who knows! All I know is that I can use my cast iron more now as meat is always on the menu which is exciting. I used your Wapak Z #8 skillet the other day to cook a ribeye steak, but didn't record it because I was experimenting. It turned out great, but needed another couple of minutes because it was medium rare and we wanted it medium. When I get it down pat, I might make a video on how to do a ribeye or similar steak. You just hate to screw it up when the steak costs $15.99! lol That said, I just love that skillet - perfect for searing meats. It is so black and shiny, I am glad I never stripped it down - there really was no need as you took great care of it. Thanks again my friend! 😊

You keep making the videos, us loyal fans will continue to follow and watch. So glad you enjoy that skillet as I enjoy mine as well. Yea cooking meats like that do require doing it more to find the times and temps you need. Keep up the great videos

Thanks so much - your comments are sincerely appreciated! I will do just that and maybe people will look for my channel on everyday use of their cast iron. I am not finding as many to restore these days to resell, but I certainly do love to cook with them! 😋 The profit margins are mainly in the rare pieces or larger sizes from 9 and up which makes it worthwhile to do. The smaller sizes are slightly easier to do, but the lower margins just don't make it a good use of my time, materials, or $$ investment!

Yes, you can enjoy lots of eggs and healthy fats that go along with the meat I eat. I still have about 38 pounds to go, but I will get there eventually. I am eating nutrient dense whole foods and laying off the sugar, carbs, and most processed foods. It has helped me feel so much better as well. Thank you for watching. With this protocol, I will be using my cast iron much more often! 😊

The avocado oil is why the eggs didn’t stick, nothing to do with the seasoning. stainless steel pans don’t stick with good amount of oil on them.

Yes, that’s true that you need oil to prevent sticking in cast iron and other pans such as copper and steel. That said, despite the fact that I always cook with quality fats (oils, butter, bacon grease, etc) some pans are sill more non-stuck than others. The more well seasoned they are which takes into account the cooking surface will perform better than other cast iron pans. This particular pan did very well out of the gate as the cooking surface holds seasoning very well . The added fats (oil) goes without saying.

😊 thank you!! Until I found the keto diet, all other diets failed. I think the word diet needs to go. I think anything that one does, needs to be a lifestyle, not a diet. I make it so I am able to stay on it. My all time favorite food was ice cream. I ate it constantly. I haven't had traditional ice cream in 5 months! I really don't desire it, but when I get a craving, I treat myself to a Keto ice cream bar which is absolutely delicious but only occasionally! But more importantly, the other exciting thing is that I can actually cook a lot with my cast iron as meat is always on the menu and cast iron and meat go together like salt and pepper! Thanks for stopping by - I really appreciate it Mike!

Interesting meal you made. Never thought to put sour cream in my omelette. I buy sour cream once in a while for specific recipes. I really like sour cream but usually my mind goes blank trying to think of food to use it with regularly. I have been eating eggs more frequently so I will be adding sour cream next time.
Sorry, your channel isn't the first to come to mind when I think of cast iron food or recipes. I also am not a diet person. My mindset about food isn't compatible with diets. Not a complaint or criticism, just an observation of my habits and having more UA-cam subscriptions and recommendations than I can watch and still have a life.
I have never thought/ would never think of my seasoning and spices as carbs. I think of them as a necessity. Flavor and the cooking process go hand in hand for me. Diminish my cast iron or flavor and my appetite goes with it because it's no longer enjoyable. Everything in balance and moderation as much as I can and to my own tastes.
Also interesting that you fast. I also fast, sometimes unintentionally. I think food is more enjoyable when I am hungry, so many hours between meals is better than cooking at specific times. This is one of the reasons I usually eat just one meal a day. The event of the day, I guess.
Very much enjoy your videos and watching several today because that's the mood I am in. I don't subscribe to the idea of being lead through UA-cam by notifications. Even knowing creators are morning, noon, and night trying to cater to algorithms. I meander quite well making discoveries on my own. Take care.

The thing I forgot was to add some sugar free BBQ sauce for some kick without the carbs! lol That tastes so good with the sour cream and cheese. YUM! Anyway, glad you stopped by to check out this skillet's maiden voyage! lol
