  • In today’s video, we head over to Tunstall Forest which is home to the Viking Trail, the only fully natural trail in East anglia meaning it’s the best which it really is. Whilst it may not be the best trail in terms of vertical elevation, it certainly does not disappoint and is a great flowing trail through the Forest which can be made as challenging as you want depending on how fast you choose to ride it. There are also 3 marked bomb holes aswell as a few unofficial ones dotted around the Forest which are really steep and great fun. Also if you ride here on an E-Bike, please make sure to be respectful and not tear up the trails and berms aswell as not riding here In the soaking wet to avoid damage to the trail.

    Excuse the wind noise as I mentioned because I lost one of the wind mufflers. If you are listening with headphones then I recommend taking the right headphone out and just using the left as the majority of the wind noise is from the right side

    Hi thanks for this post, I went through this trail yesterday June 2024, it’s really good fun however it’s overgrown with vegetation, branches and bracken impeding the trail in most places.
    It’s free but it does need some maintenance. It’s also slightly different now.

    I waited 60 years to start MTB for fitness and I am lucky to live only 15 mins drive from this 10 mile track. Went round it for my first off-road foray last week and was only overtaken by one rider! Think I did OK for a newbie, even though I missed out the bomb holes, and I expect my time of about 1:20 to come down a bit with practice. Thanks for your upload.

    Don’t worry, I haven’t quit UA-cam, I just took a month off whilst getting back into school etc but also to focus on other things. Next upload will be Wednesday 23rd September. 👍

    Good vid. I still forget what’s where around Viking. Good summary of why it’s better than over made Limeburner.

    Hey Noah, good vid! Are those bomb holes the only obstacles and can you go around them? I'd hate to drag a complete beginner around way outside of their progression / comfort zone.

      Yep and they are completely avoidable if you wish and you can go around. 👍👍

    I did the pixie trail and the other 3 trails just off Thetford in Brandon Country park and was wondering if u made a vid on clearing some of the jumps there cuz I tried having a go with it today and wasn’t sure which ones you roll and jump- thanks😁

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  3 роки тому

      They’re being taken down soon and flattened unfortunately because someone reported them... In all fairness I’m not really that good at jumping and only tend to clear a couple of them. I find the 2nd run is best for clearing as the jumps are slightly smaller then 3 and 4 are bigger with 1 having no jumps at all. I haven’t made a video specifically on it although I had planned to make one soon and I will if I can do it before it gets flattened 👍👍

      TrailTrialerMTB noooo you’re kidding😂😂 they littrally the most sick few trails in Thetford that’s bit shit.. that would be awesome if you snuck in a vid before they gone :(

      Yeah last time I went there was a sign saying we will be working here soon by FC because the trails were ‘dangerous’ but I haven’t been for over a week so I don’t know if it’s been done yet. Hopefully I can get there before the weekend to ride them and make a video on it and I definitely agree about that they were the best bit 😂😂 unfortunately Thetfords going downhill rapidly nowadays...

    Not a fan of the Viking trial, It’s no more then xc route. At least on the lime burner you can session the beast and progress a small amount. There are much better natural single track in East Anglia then both these spots as well.

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  3 роки тому +1

      It’s all just personal opinions, I agree about the Beast and Progression and also that there probably is better natural single track like Thetfords off-piste but in terms of official marked trails then I think it’s good for a nice ride around.

      @@TrailTrialerMTB its a decent pedal for fitness. In terms of official trails, do you meaned managed by a formal club, forestry? There are some routes in Shouldham that are managed by race clubs and have a race series there.

    Not sure why people keep moaning about E-bikes on trails what about the 18/20 stone rider on an acoustic with poor line choices, what about all the people who have gone and brought bikes during lock down with no experience of riding trails that run wide take poor line choices, do they not destroy the Berms do they not destroy the trail no mention of these people.

    • @TrailTrialerMTB
      @TrailTrialerMTB  3 роки тому +1

      caspian40, Yes I agree with you completely that it isn’t all ebikes and I was not moaning about them at all or targeting them as I don’t care what people ride as it’s great to see people who wouldn’t be able to ride without them now able to ride because of them. I was only saying about if you take an ebike there then respect the trail and don’t tear it up as in the past that has happened, not hating at all but I agree maybe I should have just said in general respect the trail no matter what your riding or so on. 👍👍

      Everyone’s a beginner at some point surely. Is it not a good thing to see people out enjoying these trails?

    • @caspian40
      @caspian40 3 роки тому +1

      @@mattyp182 I'm all for seeing people out on the trails but E bikes do take the brunt of the blame for trail degradation and at this current time I think that's unfair when I've been on the trails behind acoustic bikes and seen them taring up the trails and Berms. So it pisses me off when E bikes get the finger pointed at them and the blame laid on them for wrecking trails when I've seen it first hand following acoustic bikes
