Keeley Electronics - Mk3 Driver Overdrive and Distortion with Andy Timmons

- The Mk3 Driver - Andy Timmons Full Range Overdrive is an overdrive workstation that allows you to orchestrate everything from a clean boost to a treble supercharger, a chimey tube-amp overdrive to a square-wave, germanium fuzz generator and more. This pedal combines a three-control blues driver circuit with two switches for the voicing Drive and Tone characteristics. Robert and Andy developed these switches to give players a broad range of drive tones. The Drive toggle engages two germanium diodes for a smoother, slightly compressed drive. Switch to Andy’s clipping style for a brighter and more articulate attack. Every part of the circuit has been optimized for tone and the demanding needs of a recording and touring artist such as Andy Timmons. Simply adding the Mk3 Driver to your pedalboard will likely make your rig sound better. This pro sounding overdrive can be switched between true-bypass and buffered bypass at any time.
**NOTE: The Mk3 Driver is different in name only from the 'Drive Formerly Known As..". The parts, build, and quality of the Mk3 Driver is exactly the same, we just had to change the name.**

My gawd Andy needs to live forever and play like this.
Holy hell. I just tried this pedal in front of my Suhr sl68. Freaking amazing on all settings, at all volumes, all gains, all pickups, all levels of attack. With the Halo, don’t need any things else. When gain is cranked it’s basically the best fuzz pedal ever. Thanks to RK and @ for this pedal. You guys are my tone heroes!
Renamed but still the same under the hood, such a great drive! 😎
Thx man!
This is the first gear demo video that I've listened to multiple times just to hear the playing.
Since returning to playing guitar, this is the most inspiring pedal that I have used.
Who in there right mind could sue Robert and Andy, Two of the nicest guys! Congrats on the pedals and thanks for sharing it with us mere mortals.
I doub't it went anywhere near actual litigation. Just seems like a simple to fix copyright issue
Don't think they were sued but most probably they received a notification from Torpack Limited which is basically the band "MUSE" (or their lawyers) about the trademark "MUSE" warning them about legal action if they did not stop using the word "MUSE" on their product. I know for a fact that they are not the only ones that have experienced this. If you try to use the generic word "muse" as part of the name of any product they will basically come after you and they will spend as much money and resources as necessary to get away with it. It sucks but I don't think Robert and Andy had a choice unless they were ok spending a lot of money on lawyers.
Muse should write a song called the “Keeley Timmons”. Then just call it even
Andy is such a kind soul. What a gifted gentleman. Robert, love the pedal and I just might have to buy this version to sit alongside my "MDriver"
Just bought this (Muse) last week. Trying not to gush too much but hot dayum, I've bought maybe 7 drives pedals in last year or so and this is the only one I see not getting benched. Great great job, guys and thanks!
Same happened to me. The Blues Disorder is another one that will never leave my board!
Monster tones from the only two people who could make them.
Whew I thought you two created another pedal that I was gonna have to buy. BTW Muse Driver is my most favoritest pedal on my board.
I recently bought two of Robert's older pedals and they are truly the most inspiring pedals I have ever owned/played.
If i didnt already have the Super AT Mod then i would buy the Mk3 Driver in a heartbeat. U guys are awesome!
Same
That’s also the same for me. I managed to snag an open box Super At Mod in October or November and saw this only weeks later. They’re really amazing pedals though.
I love watching this video. Seeing Robert’s face as he’s watching Andy makes me happy. That’s the look I have when I’m admiring my children.
I just ordered one from zzounds and I actually cancelled it and reordered it because I was confused on the models. I had the muse originally ordered! Dang! Should have kept my original order! I’m a big Andy Timmons fan and that would have been a cool piece of Andy Timmons/ keeleys history to have.
That really is a great sounding and expressive drive.
Sounds absolutely amazing !
Sold! Just like Andy sold me on the HALO. Love........this......guy and Robert and his team.
Cool, my Muse Driver is a collector's item now. Sounds a lot better when Andy plays it though.
I have the Super AT Mod driver , the one before yours that was only around about a month
That sounds incredible!
This has an infomercial/HSN advertisement feel. Great sounding pedal.
I love my Muse Driver! Sounds great!
I have both pedals (HALO, muse driver), couldn't be happier !
Something I would love to see with this pedal and the halo is to add midi! Maybe 20 presets and banks to use. This would take them over the top!! Picking up a white Mk3 today! I have both the At mod and the Halo. Love them both. Andy you are the man!!
3rd time's a charm they say ;) Looking forward to it!
Because it is awesome.
Thanks!
Sounds warm
Mews driver would’ve been so sick 😂
😺😺😺
Just wow! 🔥🔥🔥
Sweet as always.
Can’t wait to see the Halo in the one of the new enclosures.
Mk 3 for those delicious 3rd order harmonics 🙂
You guys are on the right track with Mews & a symbol a la Price. Greek letter Mu or μ-driver 😁
Man i love the Muse but i cant give up my AT super mod. Run both? Lol.
Should have just done MUES driver 😁 but mk 3 is cool too. Glad I got one of the first ones as a muse driver. Now it’s a limited edition? 🤔
Andy has a thing he does (ex 3:55) where I don’t see his left or right hand moving, but somehow there’s some variant in the tone. To me it sounds like a singer who is trying to sing through crying. I’ve never heard this from anyone else. How is he doing this?
He lightly plucked the trem bar, and followed that with a light wiggle.
Robert Keeley, why dont make it like a double pedal like Aria or D&M Drive wich I already have? instead look Andy go down and switch with hands over the tones? they both, or maybe better all 4 sound, are great but at least you can recal 2 of them with feets =) ... btw thx Andy for the showcase of this another awesome Keeley pedal!!
It would be useful to hear how it behaves thru different kinds of amps. Stuff like boosting proper Plexi crunch or Vox chime etc. I find what works great for one amp often does not work for another, e.g., my nephew's Dark Side that works well into his Fender Twin does not work so well into the high treble input of my Plexi build, but my Laney Tony Iommi boost works great. It's tricky to know if a pedal will work well with an amp or not when buying online, which is why there is a thriving used pedal market I guess.
I'm sure a couple of channels will review the pedal so you'll hear it through different setups
I oddly need to get this, even though I have the muse 😅
Two or three is always better than musing if one is enough! ;-)
i wanted to keep the HALO so bad but I could never get it to sound like that so sent it back. Maybe because he runs it in stereo that he can get those huge delay sounds...I can only run mono
Quick question if anyone out there can answer. How does this pedal sound going into a solid state amp, or amp in a box? I use a Simplifier zero-watt amplifier based pedalboard that I then run into the house mixer, and I am looking for a good additional drive pedal. I simply adore the sound of this pedal, but thus far have only heard it going into tube amps (as far as I know). Just curious if anyone out in internet land has used this pedal without a tube amp, and if it retains this type of tone (within reason)? Any insight would be appreciated.
Was the letter from the band Muse?
Might’ve been from Roland Boss.
It’s a bit close to “Blues Driver”
❤❤❤
Life is definitely too short for bad tone. I think it’s time. I finally buy this and the halo ASAP.
Is this the same pedal as the Muse Driver?
is the muse and the mk3 the same ?
Yes
@@jonathankrieger9121 thanks
Love to hear it not drenched in modulation tho.
Will it make me play like this?
Leo would have just snipped Muse off the labels and called it the Driver.
Ok, I‘ve got the Muse Driver + Halo but still sound like crap… there must be something wrong with the pedals.… 😂
Nooo! I‘m just terrible at playing guitar but it‘s much more fun playing through these great pedals! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎸🎸🎸🔥🔥🔥❤️❤️❤️
Andy could play a line6 spider and make it sing.
i cant belive mesa stopped making the lonestar amp
I have no idea and have done zero research but is there California tweed similar?
Just call it "The Driver". It is the only driver on my board.
How much delay and reverb are you using please.
No reverb, just the Halo
Mews driver 😽
What pickups are in that guitar? And what other pedals are you playing through? I'm hearing reverb, maybe analog delay, and possibly chorus.
DIMARZIO AT1 in the bridge and then two Cruiser DP187 (Bridge version even though it is in the neck) .
Andy uses DiMarzio Cruisers in neck and middle and the Andy Timmons AT-1 bridge pickup
No reverb or chorus. That's all Halo.
I honestly don't get why producers design such versatile overdrive pedals without the ability to switch between different sounds on the fly. Come on, at least a double switch!
If it’s an always on pedal you could have called it a Daily Driver.
of course that pedal is not creating "ALL" that is coming out of that speaker. additional effects, the amp, the fingers, guitar, pickups etc. so our setups will not get the same mileage
Moo's driver
find a woman that looks at you the way Robert looks at Andy.
Would have been nice to hear without the Halo
Amuse Driver
